I am very happy with the work that was completed! All 3 projects were completed quickly. I appreciated Clyde explaining different options for fixing the leaky faucet and plumbing under the sink - he was very knowledgable and did a wonderful job. I also appreciated that Clyde didn't leave a mess when he was done working at my house. I will definitely be calling Weld & Sons when future plumbing needs arise!

The replacement went fine. It took longer than anticipated and the the plumber had to leave the home to get parts since he did not have what was needed with him. However, he completed the job the same day.

I was so happy with the professionalism, honesty, and good quality of their work! I'm getting a house ready to sell and had lots of little things concerning me. Because of the number of jobs, two people (Jason and Brent) came and got the work done in half the time. The fee for two people per hour was such that it saved me about $200--300 compared to having one person do the work. While I was explaining what needed doing to one person, the other person was opening the boxes of my new sink and disposal and getting things ready, which was great because no time was wasted. They were honest about not selling me a couple of things that only needed minor repair -- did not take advantage of me. I appreciate their honesty! (P.S. About the B in punctuality, they started 15 min. late, but I didn't mind that because they called and explained what was going on and were apologetic--and because 2 people came to work, the overall time for the job was cut in half. I actually wanted to give them an "A" because one person was there on time and they were so gracious and apologetic!) I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Weld and Sons!

I used them because of their high ratings. Were to put a bathroom in our basement. After the draft, our dimensions changed. They said no problem. Messed up the entire job. The shower was supposed to be in the corner, they put it in the middle of the wall. Said codes prevented them from doing a "corner shower" which our carpenter told us was a lie. Wasted space, looked bad. Hardly any space for the water meter. I told them we were unhappy. They never offered to fix it, in the end they credited us $200. Didn't communicate back after I told them what had happened and how I felt. Thankfully we have a very good carpenter who was able to work around them. Very disappointed to say the least.

Response from Weld & Sons Plumbing
When Weld originally looked at the job, there was not a floor plan. Don Weld worked on creating a floor plan with the customer and wrote down dimensions for the framer. The owner did say that the dimensions were changing before we arrived to do the work, but we were not informed that the entire layout had changed. The plumbing was done to code, and with proper clearances as close to the wishes of the owner as we could.

Called Weld and they were able to send someone out the next day. I was told pricing up front for the repairs and was also told that it depended on how long it took to fix. The plumber arrived and diagnosed the problem, which was a slowly leaking supply line inside a wall caused by damage created in a renovation by another contractor. The plumber cut the damaged pipes out and replaced. Great service and affordable. I was charged much more by a different provider to do a similar repair a few years ago. Thanks for providing value, I will use again!

My first call was an after hours call and, to my pleasant surprise, the gentleman I spoke with gave me a series of troubleshooting steps and potential fixes that I could quickly try to avoid having them come out at all! I thought that was a very thoughtful, customer-centric approach and I really appreciated it. Ultimately, we were unable to fix the leak ourselves and so a second call to Weld was necessary. They understood my urgency and had someone out to the house within a couple hours of my call. He did a great job diagnosing the issue and explaining what and why he was performing steps. Once we determined the need for a new toilet, he talked through my options to ensure I got the best price, which included him coming back at 7:30 the next morning to finish the work, which was done very quickly and--most importantly--completely. This is the second time I have used Weld (in two different homes) and I would recommend them without reservation.
Description of Work: They cut into our kitchen ceiling to determine the cause of a leak in the bathroom above. Once identified, they did further troubleshooting of a toilet and determined that it had a hairline crack that was causing a leak. We bought a new toilet and they returned the following morning to fix it.

We looked on Angie's list for a plumbing company that was willing to do only the drain waste vent work we needed for a basement bathroom project that is otherwise DIY. We picked Weld & Sons based on their excellent reviews on Angie's list for similar work on others' projects, and what we judged to be fair pricing. Don Weld did the estimate, and explained how they would do the project in three days, and they did! Weld submitted a reasonably detailed statement of work. After a few minor tweaks, and clarifying that we would get the rough framing in, put up dust walls, and provide them with enough basement space as a staging area, we agreed to proceed. On the first day, beginning (as agreed) at 10AM, a workman removed the concrete over the 100yr old cast iron main drain line, and over old toilet and laundry plumbing. He also prepared areas for installation of a relocated laundry drain, and a barrier free shower pan. He used an electric jack hammer, which generates a lot less dust than a concrete saw. At this point, we could still use the upstairs plumbing. He removed the concrete debris, stored much of the sandy dirt in plastic garbage cans (in the staging area), and cleaned up very nicely. He was done at around 3:30PM. On day two, a crew of two arrived promptly at 7:30 AM, removed and disposed of all the old below-ground cast iron, and the soil stack up to about 6" below the first floor joists. They then installed new ABS main drain line, bathroom toilet drain line and flange, shower drain, vanity sink drain, laundry drain, etc. They were clearly very familiar with the newly revised code requirements, because when the inspector came at about 3PM, their work passed with flying colors. Our waste plumbing was unavailable for maybe 4hrs... a very minor inconvenience, given the scale of the project. On day three, a crew of two backfilled dirt around the piping, and proceeded with the concrete work. The workman finishing the concrete was very much a skilled craftsman. The finished result is really nice! When they completed the job, they cleaned everything up, and left by around 4PM. We would definitely recommend Weld & Sons. Everyone involved on our job was very competent, hard working, considerate, and friendly. We think we've received good value for the money.
Description of Work: Weld & Sons removed basement floor concrete as needed to remove cast iron drain waste vent plumbing for the main drain line, basement toilet, floor, laundry, and kitchen drains. Using ABS plastic, they replaced the basement section of the soil stack, main drain line out to the foundation (updated with backflow prevention), rerouted the laundry drain and vent, and installed drain and vent plumbing required for a basement bathroom with a barrier free shower pan. After passing inspection, they replaced concrete removed, including the recessed region below the shower pan. They removed all the debris, and cleaned up.

This is the third time we've used Weld and Sons Plumbing and we have been very impressed all three times. We needed a new kitchen faucet installed and the plumbing under the kitchen sink brought up to code. The plumber they sent out, Jason, was awesome! He was spot on time, he was courteous, professional and incredibly tidy. We seriously thought this was going to run twice what was charged. Jason even pointed out that the who ever installed the original traps put the gaskets on the wrong side (wondered about the big ugly black rings) and replaced those as well!

We had a slow leak into our basement that I was unable to determine the source. Manny came out and after testing various things was able to determine that there was a leak in the wall. He opened up the wall and fixed the supply line that was leaking in two places. The leaks were caused by renovation work we had done many months ago and the leak was very slow. Manny was very professional and the repairs were affordable given the level of work that needed to be done. The company scheduled me quickly and explained the pricing on the phone so I understood what I was getting into. Thanks very much, I will use Weld and Sons again.

I was contacted by Weld, whom I've used before and was very happy with and set up the appointment. I told the person on the phone that I would like to get a spray faucet on my laundry tub, and also an outdoor faucet installed on my deck. She said those are done by a different technician so would have to be done at another time. The main reason I scheduled the sewer service was because my laundry tub was backing up with drain water from my washing machine, and I suspected the main sewer was the problem. The technician fixed the blockage in the drain from the washing machine to the laundry tub, even though that wasn't technically his area, so overall, I was very happy with the service they provided and would use them again.
Description of Work: Checked the main sewer line, which was fine. However, he told me the main sewer line was only two feet long before it hooked up with the sewer line for our block of townhouses--that is the reason for my grade of "C" for cost. Not the company's fault, I guess.

I looked up the notes from the technician and I apologize if there was any mis-communication or misunderstanding. Our records show us clearing 2 drains during this visit: the floor drain, and the laundry tub drain. We also installed a new cap. We strive to be as clear as we can regarding rates, etc. and appreciate the feedback so we can find ways to improve. We look forward to working with you in the future.

Called Weld & Sons late yesterday (based on review on Angie's List) and they were able to schedule someone to come out the following morning, between 10 and 12. I got a call at 10am and Ben Pullis arrived at 10:15. He asked some questions about decorative items potentially going missing (ha ha!) or if we had any children who might have tossed anything in the toilet (we don't). He explained how he would start the process - auguring the toilet and testing the flush with toilet paper. If this didn't solve the problem he said they would have to remove the toilet and get into the main. Fortunately, Ben and his super auguring arms were able to take care of it without complication and we were good to go in 30 minutes. Ben was very neat, polite and prompt...and he got the job done. I wouldn't hesitate to call them again or to refer them to a friend.

Clyde fixed the leaking faucet and the loose pipe underneath the kitchen sink. And after that he looked at my ice maker in my fridge. After doing some test to make sure the problem wasn't the water line going to the fridge, it was determined that the ice maker needed to be look at by a different technician. He was very nice and very helpful. We are very happy with the results and and how very professional Clyde was. I will definitely keep this company in my phone book and call them again if needed.

The original plumber did a great job. But an inspector asked that a simple part be added. I planned to find the part myself to save money. The plumber said there would not be an additional charge besides to add the part. It simply needed to be screwed on. At the time my dog was critically sick so I gave up looking for the part and asked to buy the part from them to finish the job. I called the company to handle it and trusted they would take care of it without me checking on it. Instead they turned it into another service call and did not communicate with the original plumber and charged me for two parts (one not needed and recommended for another outside faucet unrelated to the job) and another 100 visit to come to my house plus labor. What made it a big deal for me was how the office manager could not see my perspective and demanded they were right to charge me for the xtra service call. I do not believe that is how this company started and there was no way to get through to him. Very disappointing.

Attempting to help the customer be able to take care of it themselves is free, but having to send a technician to do the work is additional. I am confused on the complaint about the pricing. To resolve the matter we waived the service call and charged half of our minimum labor fee. The total for us to drive to the job, install the part, and provide the materials is $105.95. If there is confusion about the bill we would be happy to go through it and explain.

I received a notice from our City water department that their records showed that water was be used over a 24 hour period. I did not find any leaks in our house but have been hearing gurgle noises from my downstairs toilet from time to time. I called Weld & Son and explained that I might need a new toilet due to the water report and noises & swirling water that was in my toilet. The person I spoke to said that they could probably fix it. We set up a time and they were able to come out on my day off. The flapper and valve were wearing out and that is why occasionally they would let a little water out. The flapper and valve were replaced by Clyde and the toilet is now quiet. I've always had excellent service from Weld & Son and I experienced again. They call ahead to let you know they are coming and was on time.

They were able to come the same day I called. The person I spoke with on the phone was helpful and friendly. It's nice to be able to reach someone on the phone right away. The guys were professional and did good work. We've worked with this company in the past and had good experiences. However, $250 to repair a toilet seems quite high. A search on Home Advisor (not sure how accurate that is) showed toilet repairs in our area to run $135- $175. While we've enjoyed working with Weld, I will do price comparisons before scheduling services in the future.
