+ -1 moreI have used Weld and Sons 3 times including today. They have always been pleasant to work with, but more importantly they explain everything they are doing. Also if something unexpected comes up they explain why it happened and how it will be fixed. At this visit with sink trap in the kitchen the trap nut was frozen on the pipe. He explained that it was necessary cut the pipe and add a trap adapter. I will always use them for any future plumbing issues.
Description of Work: Two sinks needed to have the sink trap replaced.

+ 3 moreThanks to Tiffany, who kept me informed about what was happening (or needed to happen) and when, and thanks to the excellent crews (especially Russ!), we couldn't be more pleased with how everything turned out.
Description of Work: We initially contacted Weld and Sons because we wanted to add a bathroom to our basement. However, after meeting with Don Weld and learning more of the capabilities of his company, we decided to broaden our request. We had been thinking for years about insulating and refinishing a part of our basement, and it made sense to do that work now. Since Don regularly works with electrical and remodeling tradesmen, it made it much simpler for us to let Weld and Sons act as a general contractor, and coordinate those details as well. Weld and Sons did (or found qualified people to do) the following: * Install an egress window * Frame and insulate half the basement * Insulate (spray foam) the rim joists around the entire basement * Work with Xcel Energy contractors to move gas meter to the outside of the house, and reroute gas line * Install drywall (including taping, mudding, and sanding) * Frame the bathroom * Clear blockage in sewer pipe * Install plumbing for shower, toilet, and vanity (including jackhammering and repairing concrete floor) * Install venting, heating, and lighting in bathroom * Hook up the toilet, vanity, and shower * Install glass block window in bathroom * Lay tile floor in bathroom * Install towel racks and toilet paper holder * Install dimmable can lighting in half of basement * Install several additional electrical outlets in half of basement * Install baseboard heater * Install stairway lighting * Install smoke detector * Build custom balusters and railing for basement staircase * Build custom shelves for bathroom * Build custom standing desk * Build custom enclosure to hide water meter * Add molding * Add baseboards

Weld & Sons removed the old range and hauled away, made the conversion to gas with a gas line from basement up into kitchen, did the install of new range, and took care of all permits with the city of New Brighton. Very professional, and their work is high quality. I was very impressed.

+ -1 moreFrom texting photos of the issue and talking on the phone with Tim, then scheduling the appointment to the plumber coming out to the house and fixing our list of plumbing issues, we could not have been happier. We have found the plumbing company we intend to use from now on. What sold me on Weld & Son the most though, was Clyde himself. Not only did he know what he was doing and fixed the problems (and gave us extra tips on cleaning water stains and ordering parts from the plumbing fixture company), but I just felt comfortable having him in our home to begin with and that says a lot. Good plumber, even nicer guy! I learned of Weld & Sons from a friend and intend to tell other friends about Weld & Sons Plumbing as well.
Description of Work: Cartridge replaced in powder bathroom faucet, fix toilet that was starting to run continuously after flushing, check on faucet handles in master bathroom and pot filler.

Ben also cut the shower valve out and removed the shower head. From the first call with the dispatcher, Sarah to the work completed by the plumber Ben, I am very pleased with the quality of work and professional and prompt service. I will definitely hire Weld & Sons for my future plumbing needs and would recommend them highly to my friends and family.

+ -1 moreThe drain under the kitchen sink was clogged. When I tried to run the garbage disposal the pressure caused the pipes to become loose and greasy water was shooting out. When I called, Tim was pretty much able to diagnose the problem over the phone. He said their schedule for the day was pretty full but he'd call me back to confirm if they could work us in. He called a short time later and said someone would be out in the afternoon. Clyde came and fixed the problem in no time. Clyde has done other plumbing work for us and he is professional, efficient and down to earth. I will not hesitate to call Weld & Sons in the future for our plumbing needs.

Scott from Weld was able to get their before end of day Monday to fix the issue & get my water turned back on. He explained everything he was doing had everything resolved in a couple hours. I was very pleased with the entire experience and would call Weld again anytime.

+ -1 moreGreat! Last Saturday, I noticed that our water heater was leaking and went to Angie's list to find a plumber. The first highly rated one only makes non-work-week emergency calls for their existing customers (not a great strategy for getting new customers). I then called Weld. Vic, the emergency dispatcher, was fantastic. He had we describe the nature and size of the leak and convinced me that the odds of a complete burst was very low, and I could wait until Monday and avoid paying the tech time and half. He also helped me pick out the replacement water heater. Finally, he told me that he was available 24/7, I should call if anything changed. First thing Monday morning, I got a call from Weld, and the new water heater was in by noon. Zac, the tech, was punctual and very friendly a professional. Weld will be doing all our plumbing work in the future.

+ 0 moreOUTSTANDING! Not only did Kent call ahead of time with an estimate of his arrival, he got here when he said he would. I showed him the problem areas and he went right to work, and explained what he was doing. When that work was done, he explained how I could possibly avoid some of the clogs with some homemade remedies. He also pointed out that I should keep an eye on the pipe connected with the bath tub drain to make sure some of the damage possibly caused by fluids previously used to clean the drain would not develop into areas of leakage. He also checked two turn off knobs connected with outdoor spigots, and found them to be in good working order. He explained the best way to turn them off.
Description of Work: I had clogged, slow drains in my bathroom sink and tub, which I had been dealing with for some time. I finally decided “enough!”and started researching plumbers. As luck (and timing ) would have it, I noticed the Weld and Son’s truck in the driveway across the street from me. Later that day, I checked in with that neighbor who had nothing but praise for them, so, I checked for them on Angie’s List. I then gave Weld a message through Angie’s List.
