This was a way to get into your house to sell you an expensive water softener and filtration system. The information gained was of little value since I already knew that I had hard water.
Description of Work: This was supposed to be a water quality test but it was really a ruse to sell me an expensive water softening system. The young woman was polite and pleasant but seemed to know only the basics of water quality evaluation, but lots about how wonderful a new system would be for my house. I felt a bit taken, since seniors are often the focus on these kinds of come-ons.

Hi Member, after nearly 30 years in business we take great pride in our companies reputation and public opinion. Our Angies list service offer has been accepted and praised by many of Angies lists members. I feel using the the language "RUSE" is offensive to Water Doctors and Angies List. You paid "$20.00" for a water test & inspection. Based on that inspection we made a recommendation to upgrade your antiquated water system. Please call me to further discuss what you were inspecting that we did not deliver and I will be happy to work with you. Best Regards. Robert Hoey Owner/Founder Water Doctors Water Co.

knowledgeable overview of current system, just not analystical...we already knew about our system...wanted a water analysis because water is stinky.
Description of Work: Water Dr. came and charged $39 for a water analysis. He looked at our system and offered some services, but this was more like an estimate, which is free. We were surprised that there was not really any 'analysis' going on...just a check and suggested projects. We had another water professional person out who did a free estimate. if you call it analysis, you may want to actually check out the water.

Jessica came out very promptly. She was very professional and knowledgable about softener systems and explained how to work the system and explained that our system was very old and might not be working but gave us options instead of trying to do a hard sell for a new system. which we appreciated since we just incurred a lot of expenses with moving

When we bought the deal for a water inspection (a $126 value) we thought we would be getting a lab analysis of our water. Not someone to come in and and do the exact same thing that culligan does for FREE (give us a water hardness test and sell us a softener/filter system). The first appointment we had to take a vacation day and the person never showed up. We called the hotline and they said they would have someone get back to us. No response.I rescheduled the appointment and asked to be the first appointment of the day. When no one was there at 9:00 I made a call and he thought it would be 10:30 before he could head to my house. At 12:00 just as I was heading out the door he showed up. I can't believe I paid $20 for something that has been done for free before.

Went very well and as expected. Thank you water Doctors.
Description of Work: Sampels teh hot an cold water from the existing water softener. NOt surprisingly, the 20 year old softerner was not up to snuff and using way too much salt. Bob advised that he product could be replaired if hte parts could be found. We decided to purcahse awhole house usnit that included carbon filtartion for iron which we have moderatley in our well water. The softener was installed on time and at the promised price. Even a little plumbing, at no extra charge, to have all the cold water faucets in the house softened. We immediately noticed the difference, especially in the cold water, teh flavor adn odor were much improved.

Needed to have 18 year old water softener and iron filter replaced due to inconsistent performance. Checked Angie's List and found Water Doctors to be highly rated and locally owned. Called the company and sales rep was able to come out that afternoon and test the water. Found that softener and iron filters were not working and she proposed several alternatives. Elected to go with the Infinity Whole Home System at $3564 installed plus tax less a $450 coupon from Angie's List. She was able to schedule the installation for the next working day. The installers showed up on time and were meticulous about not marring the wood floor or carpet. They spent 3 hours doing the install until I asked where the carbon filter was. They indicated they had the wrong unit and I should call the sales rep. I spoke to her and she agreed to have another crew come out the following day to install the correct unit. The second crew showed up on time and spent 1.5 hours installing the correct tank. Everything is fine and it works well but the mixup was unfortunate.

Bob Hoey, the one I talked to on the phone, who I assume is the owner of this company, was absolutely great. He had a solution to my problems right away. I have been a customer with Crystal Canyon Water/Just Water for almost 5 years. We had nothing but problems with Crystal Canyon Water/Just Water since the beginning. First, when our filters clogged it was hard to get a hold of them to replace them and the replacements were expensive. The replacements were Ecowater brand, proprietary so we had to go through Crystal Canyon Water/Just Water to get them and pay their inflated price. Second, they installed a shoddy, illegal valve on our plumbing for the water filter that began to leak in the summer of 2009. We didn't notice the leak until an estimated 3 days after it started. We didn't know Crystal Canyon Water/Just Water had an emergency hotline for this kind of situation so we ended up paying for a plumber to come out on Sunday and pay a premium to get it fixed. The leaking water warped our kitchen floor and insurance would not cover it because it was a slow leak. When I called Crystal Canyon Water/Just Water about it the manager had an attitude, showed disinterest and threatened to void our warranty with them since our Ecowater systems we bought through them were looked at by a separate plumber. After a long discussion they were willing to keep our warranty and willing to come out and fix their problem for $75 with no apology. Third, we had issues with our reverse osmosis filter system clogging too quickly. They said they wanted to correct the problem by having a line installed to our kitchen faucet (which did not receive softened water) but they never showed interest in doing it when they came out and always passed the buck on getting that done. Forth, we began having problems with the water softener. It was not softening our water correctly. The water was remaining hard and salt was clumping and clogging often in it. When a technician came out to look at it he said that it needs parts (disks) replaced, but never followed through with getting the parts and coming back. We had to always call them to remind them of our problems, only to have them send their technicians out without prior knowledge of our problems and not have the resources to fix it. Everyone had a slightly different opinion on what was wrong with our systems. Finally, I found out about their negative reviews on Angie's list and other internet sites and realized it was time to take action. I filed an Angie's List Complaint Resolution Process with them asking for full refund of our purchase price with them plus money for all the stress, headaches and damaged floor they caused us. Their counter offer was free replacements of our filters. I let them do that, but left the case open because I am not satisfied with the counter offer. Once again the technician sent out from Crystal Canyon Water/Just Water was clueless about my Angie's list dispute, had no knowledge of our softener problems, and their offer to replace my filters for free in collateral to my complaint. He called the manager to ask about the Angie's list complaint and their offer to give me free filters, the manager he talked to didn't even know about it either, but let us have them for free anyways. He then told me that they will probably contact me in a few days when they receive the parts for the softener, but I should maybe call them, but as usual, they never followed through with their call. I placed a second request through Angie?s list with them to refund my money, the full amount of $5000.00 and they again denied it. I later called them on the phone asking for the general manager, the receptionist refused, claiming: ?he is not in his office today.? I told her to give me my money back. After the second Angie?s list request, they didn?t get it through their head to cancel the appointment I made with them to come out to fix the softener. The Crystal Canyon Water/Just Water technicians came out after I had sold their existing Ecowater softener and filter systems and got Water Doctor?s new systems. I basically told him to beat it, tell the company I am looking into pressing legal charges and I am sick of their s***. I'm looking into maybe taking legal action with them now because I think I have good case to win a lawsuit. They installed a shoddy, illegal valve on our plumbing. I still have the valve and I have photos of it taken when it was leaking and our kitchen floor was getting warped by the leaking water caused by their shoddy, illegal valve. I plan on showing this to my lawyer if they don?t give me my money back. I will also be filing complaints of them on all places I can find including the Better Business Bureau, Minnesota Attorney General, Minnesota State Bar Association, Ecowater suppliers, and all service review websites they are listed on such as Angie?s list, yahoo reviews, google reviews, DexKnows, yellowpages.com, etc. They already have many negative reviews, unanimous bad reviews on Angie?s list and many complaints with the Better Business Bureau including a ripoff report that had a hearing in court seen here: http://www.ripoffreport.com/plumbing/crystal-canyon-water/crystal-canyon-water-taking-b3626.htm. If you?re looking for a quality water conditioning company I recommend Water Doctors Water Treatment Company. So far so good with Water Doctors though. Steve and Tom did a great job installing our system. They did a difficult install of connecting our kitchen water line to a softened water line so we have access to softened cold water from our kitchen. They didn't charge extra even though they had to crawl through a cumbersome crawlspace and do more work than expected. They were polite and professional and went through with me all the things I need to know about the filter system and the softener, and cleaned up well after themselves. So far the water quality seems great. The thing that really stands out about them to me is Bob Hoey helped me find a buyer for my existing Ecowater system equipment right away. He told me they can fix whatever is wrong with it and find a buyer. He found a buyer willing to pay a good price and gave me the full amount of the value bought without taking a cut, to help offset my loss of money and frustration through Crystal Canyon Water/Just Water and as long as I gave them good reviews and references. He also gave us 1 year free of salt. What separates Water Doctors from most water conditioning companies is that they know water quality differs greatly depending on areas of the twin cities and they customized your softener to suit the needs. In order to get a really good/long lasting water softener you really need a company that customizes it to your local water. Don?t buy softeners from companies that just sell you stock, generic brand softeners like Ecowater, Kinetico, or Culligan. Stock brands will rarely be sufficient for your water needs as they vary greatly by location and will cause more headaches than clean water. The minerals and chemicals in the water will likely clog it, damage it, breaking the insides of it down into little pieces and end up clogging the heads of your faucets and water heater, like what happened to us. Great experience

They did a difficult install of connecting our kitchen water line to a softened water line so we have access to softened water from our kitchen. They didn't charge us extra even though they had to crawl through a cumbersome crawlspace, buy more parts and materials than expected, and do more work than expected. They installed a 4 stage water filtration system, and an infinity water softener. We used their two current Angie's list deals seen here: http://my.angieslist.com/Angieslist/MyAngie/MemberResources/DealZone.aspx?catId=140 They were polite and professional and went through with me all the things I need to know about the filter system and the softener, and cleaned up well after themselves before they left.

I would highly recommend Water Doctors. We have had issues with our water softener since we moved in, and we have had numerous companies out to look at it and each one suggested a different remedy, all which didn't work. When Water Doctors came out they took the time to go over all of our options and helped us understand how our softener work and the options for a new more high tech system. We had the new system installed and its wonderful. It has gotten rid of the hard water, iron, and smell that we were getting from our water. In addition the consultation person and the technician were VERY professional and VERY nice. We will continue to use them for all of our water needs.

I saw the Angies List big deal for a reverse osmosis water system from Water Doctors for half the price of normal systems . WIth a new baby we jumped at the chance to get a quote. Water Doctors were very responsive and Jessica came out and tested our water and showed us different options for water softeners and RO systems. The one she recommended was more expensive than the ANgies list big deal but still at a nice discount. I really have nothing bad to say about this company...they were very professional, responsive and their price point was very competitive. They seemed to have good products as well. We just decided not to go with them because one of the competing bids was lower and was a one-man shop who did great work and we wanted to give him some business. I would recommend Water Doctors to anybody although of course they never did any work for us but i could tell they are a solid company.

We suspected out water softening system was ready for replacement, so we took advantage of the water analysis offered by Water Doctors via Angie's List. We were impressed by the knowledge and professionalism of the representative who visited our home. Even though it was a few dollars more than buying it from a home improvement store, and trying to install it ourselves, we purchased a new softener, and a whoe house filtration system from Water Doctors. All promises and scheduling was were on target, and kept, and thus far we are delighted with the products we have purchased.
Description of Work: We suspected our water softener of over 10 years was no longer functioning. Our system was checked out and confirmed to need fairly expensive repairs. Due to the age of all of the components, we decided to replace the unit.

As part of a kitchen remodeling project, we were contemplating installation of a water softener to preserve and obtain better performance from our appliances & plumbing fixtures, especially given the extremely hard water reported for our area of St. Louis Park. While initially considering the lower cost Whirlpool offerings at Lowes, the models on display seemed less durable (i.e. mostly plastic) than engineered systems (e.g. Commers) of past good experience in a previous home. Given the latter, we conducted some online research of local companies (e.g. Dakota Water Treatment) that all seemed respectable and even obtained a fairly reasonable estimate from Commers. Out of due diligence, we also reached out to Water Doctors, as they were found to be a participant in the MERSC program to which my employer has membership. From the initial conversation with Bob Hoey through numerous subsequent exchanges, the level of knowledge and customer service provided was highly impressive. The timing of our inquiry was quite fortuitous, as the recent demise of an area builder had left the company with a number of repossessed units to part with, at a substantial discount from new systems. In fact, the pricing was so favorable that we had significant budget remaining to consider the addition of a water filtration system, for added peace of mind from a history of water contamination in the city. Combined with other incentives, we were able to obtain a far more potent water treatment solution than originally imagined at an incredible price. Furthermore, the terms of sale were honored with a new unit when it was later discovered that all of the few repossessed equipment had already been sold to other customers. Installation of the system was scheduled for a few business days later and required perhaps a couple hours to complete. Per plan, the technician [Tom] called the morning of delivery to confirm an arrival window and showed up slightly later than the indicated timeframe, though not of major inconvenience with concurrent activities planned throughout the day for our kitchen project. Once at the site, he thoughtfully offered to immediately unload the various components for our system then relocate his truck to the street, so that the contractors for other efforts could park their vehicles & trailers in the driveway. During the installation, Tom was very personable and kindly answered a variety of questions posed about the unit as well as work being performed, which included modifying some plumbing lines to fit the new device. Upon finishing the hookup, he loaded the associated brine tank with a complimentary bag of salt then ran the system through a number of preliminary cycles. Thereafter, Tom conducted some visual and taste testing of the now treated water, which initially had a slight grey tint that he explained was from carbon dust in the new filter and eventually became more clear. The visit concluded with removal of the original equipment as well as clean-up of any refuse. As a parting gift, we received a metal water bottle along with manuals for the equipment. Aside from the expected responsibility of maintaining a necessary supply of salt in the brine tank, our understanding is that the only added overhead of significance will be an annual check-up by the company to measure the unit effectiveness and possibly replace the filters every few years, projected to cost roughly $100. Overall, the experience with Water Doctors has been excellent and we are delighted to have softened & safe water available from every tap.

He came on time, was nice, friendly, knowledgeable. His quote for the new iron removal and water softener repack was too high. Another company offered to come out for free to look at my needs and give me an estimate. I should have called around first.
Description of Work: Told me what was wrong with my water softener, measured iron content in and out of softener, recommended I need an iron reduction system before the water softener because our iron test was so high.

Response from Water Doctors Water Treatment Company
Hi, the well water in North Oaks is VERY high in iron and manganese. We have hundreds of customers in the area and our iron reduction systems work very well. A "high price" is very subjective and unqualified. We are less than half the price of most national suppliers. You can always someone to do a job cheaper and use inferior parts and technology. Water Doctors is a Water Quality Association certified company and we use only approved and certified products. Robert Hoey- WQA Certified Water Specialist.
