Valley Interior Products did a complete remodel of our bathroom and we could not be more pleased. From Jon in the extensive showroom who assisted us in our choices, to Mark the owner and their entire team of professionals (shout out to Scott, Chris and Jason!) who came out we have nothing but good things to say. They were professional, friendly, courteous and knowledgeable of their individual crafts. Any questions that came up were answered quickly and always with the concern that we be happy with what they were doing. The work was completed on time and everything turned out beautiful. We would not hesitate to call them for another project.

I wish I could add a before and after photo of this project - because a picture is definitely worth a 1,000 words. Needless to say, I am thoroughly pleased with the result. The work that V.I.P did met all my expectations and Mark and his crew were delightful to work with. The new stone fireplace is a beautiful focal point to my open living room/dining room/kitchen area. I love it!!

VIP did an excellent job remodeling our bathroom. Each employee or sub did very good work, especially Scott who spent the most time on the project. Cleaned up at the end of every day so it didn't feel like we were living in a construction zone. Every one of their people were very friendly and courteous. They kept us informed of the project status and told us daily when they would be back, which was pretty much most days until we had to wait for the countertops to be cut and installed by Cambria. We are very happy with the end result.

Gene spent a significant amount of time planning the installation of wainscoting on a wall in our living room that kept cracking. I had the sheetrock repaired twice previously but the cracks would return. Scott did the installation and painting and is a perfectionist. The wall turned out better than we had hoped and looks great.

When I decided to remove and replace my shower, I was looking for a quality company to help with the design and installation. After talking to others, VIP was recommended to me. I visited their showroom to browse the selection. There were many choices of products and colors. We decided to go with a cultured marble product on a 72" walk-in shower. We also added a 4ft front knee wall with the upper part of the wall being glass. The people at VIP were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I couldn't be happier with how it looks.

They were great to work with. The salesman was very helpful with suggestions and ideas but always acquiesced to my opinion without pushing. When I found items elsewhere that I preferred they were ok with it and even said “I would go with that” if it was a quality product. The installers were polite, courteous and easy to communicate with. Always helpful to find solutions to things when/if something isn’t matching and easy to communicate with. And their little touches to things you didn’t think about (Tile caps on the shower tile and matching the vent color to the tile). After it was all done, I had a little issue with the shower door handles which the covered and solved for free. Apparently, they mean it when they say to let them know if they are any issues. The only cons are just a fact with a bathroom remodel. If you want it done right, it is going to take about a month and it is going to be a pain. But the results make it well worth it.

We hired VIP to do a complete kitchen remodel for us. They did a fabulous job and the kitchen looks great. It was a pleasure to work with all of them, they were polite, efficient, conscientious, and a joy to have in our house. The work they did was meticulous and they are always concerned that their work is meeting our expectations. We couldn't have asked for a better company to work with. We are now in the beginning stages of working with them on a bathroom remodel. We are looking forward to working with them on that project as well.

My kitchen and bath are beautiful and function exactly as I was hoping. All of the VIP personnel and their subcontractors are easy to work with--helpful and considerate. I especially appreciated their willingness to take any concerns seriously and thoroughly answer all my questions, whether contacted by phone or email. Their showroom made it easy for me to understand (custom) cabinet choices. Gene is both incredibly knowledgeable and a good listener. During the planning phase, he understood what I wanted and gave me useful suggestions to help meet my goals. Their contract was fair and easy to understand. Scott did great work, with attention to detail--always with a ready smile. They quickly corrected the few minor issues I discovered. The one area that could have been even better was project management. For the most part, the work was scheduled efficiently and effectively, but . . .I had to ask about some significant schedule changes, when I realized things had changed. Also, I think there could have been better planning around the quartz counter top measurement/installation--unanticipated dead time that delayed use of the kitchen by a few weeks.

The guys at VIP did an amazing job in taking my ideas and making them a reality. They discussed my options with me and made suggestions that made sense in the space. They were even able to do some custom work that tied things together between new remodeling and my old house. They left the work spaces clean after each day’s work and the whole team was very professional from my initial contact with Gene during the estimating phase all the way to the completion. I would highly recommend working with VIP!
Description of Work: Bathroom remodel including a new tiled tub surround, new flooring, vanity top and plumbing. Because it is a large room we also added a wall of storage cabinets. We also removed a built in wardrobe with cabinet doors in the bedroom and replaced it with a new closet with sliding doors and custom shelving.

We worked initially with Jon to select the materials and colors, who was great to work with and who paid attention to all the details and scheduled the work. The work was performed by Scott and a helper. They did a very nice job, and everything turned out looking great. Only a couple of small miscues - a faucet was initially installed with hot and cold reversed, a shower door hinge was scratched during installation, and the shower door was put on differently than we initially specified in the work order. The first two things were fixed or replaced without question, and even though we decided the shower door was OK (maybe better than we had specified) VIP volunteered to nock $400 off the price of the project. The only misgiving is that we did not do much comparison shopping and we did not push them on price, so maybe the price was a little high overall. But that is our fault. As far as being great to work with, doing a good job and communicating well, they were fantastic and I would use them again.
Description of Work: VIP put in new vanity tops and fixtures in 3 bathrooms, and in the master bath replaced our existing shower and provided new surfacing around our bathtub, including new bath fixtures and grab bars. All surfaces in the shower, vanities and bath tub surround were using Cortina, and engineered granite product with integrated sinks.

I have a house that was added onto by do it yourselfers over the past 60 years. VIP was the only company that submitted an estimate. Once I accepted the bid, I went to their showroom to select flooring, vanity, fixtures. Gene was very helpful in making recommendations since he was the one who had come out to do the estimate. As expected, as the job progressed, interesting things were found that they needed to fix. Each time Scott found something, we talked it over so I knew what needed to be done. Scott did most of the work over the 2+ weeks it took. Julianne did the drywall and painting. Both were respectful and kept me informed about what was happening. Both cleaned up each day before they left. There were others that came in as needed, but it was nice to have one person coming who knew the situation. I have three dogs and wanted to be sure they were confined when someone was coming but did not want them shut up all the time. The first day that Scott began deconstructing and after he had gone for the day, the shut off valve on the toilet connection gave way. I called in a panic as there was water spraying all over the bathroom and I could not seem to get the water shut off. I called VIP, they called Scott and he came out at 7:30. By that time I had gotten the water shut off, but he replaced the shut off valve so we could turn the water back on. The last day Scott worked until 8:00 in the evening to get it finished up so I could get back to normal and have a full bathroom again. Any sort of major remodeling is inconvenient, but VIP and their crew made it as painless as possible. The bathroom looks great and I look forward to enjoying it for years to come. Now to figure out what new wall decorations I want to put up.

This is a great company. The project consisted of demolishing an existing basement bathroom and moving pipes, installing sheetrock, flooring, a shower, vanity and mirror. I have had bad luck with contractors, even those highly rated on Angie?s List, so I went into this big project extremely nervous and worried. Gene, who did the initial estimate and kept in contact with me throughout, could not have given me better customer service. He was constantly reassuring me and encouraging me to ask questions and raise concerns, even when I suspect some of my questions were pretty annoying. This is apparently the company culture because I also asked a lot of questions and raised issues with the employees and subcontractors who did the work, and each of them was patient and responsive. I am a single woman and never felt condescended to. They kept me posted on what they were doing and listened to my ideas and suggestions. Aside from the customer service, this was a talented group who took pride in their work. This small, irregular shaped bathroom presented a number of challenges with a low ceiling, warped studs, crooked floor, pipes hanging below the ceiling, odd homemade door, etc. Scott (carpenter/plumber/electrician), Juliann (sheetrocker), and Mike (flooring) all took extra steps to make problem areas look great, even when I had wrongly assumed it could not be done and that I?d have to live with less than ideal. Gene came to the house several times and consulted with the workers, and together, they came up with great ideas. Never did I feel like they just wanted to get out of there and get it over with, unlike some other contractors I have used. In fact, Gene told me that if I have any questions or concerns even now that the job is finished, to feel free to call. If I have to fuss a little, I do wish they would have hung plastic over the doorway to a room I have in the basement, which ended up full of dust. And, I would have liked a few more drop cloths. But, the workers vacuumed and cleaned up at the end of each day and did as much dusty work as they could outside, even though the weather was very cold and they had to run up and down stairs. I would not hesitate using this company again.

I used VIP to do a full gut and replace of my 80sq ft bathroom. This included new tub, vanity, toilet, medicine cabinet, tub surround including a glass block window, sub floor, floor tile, walls, ceiling and exhaust fan. VIP was very responsive from the start and very easy to work with. I have an old house so there were a couple of unanticipated issues that were resolved quickly and professionally. I was updated daily with where we were in the process and who was going to be over the next day. Excellent work and would not hesitate to use them again or point my family and friends in their direction.

We had a full kitchen remodel done. New plumbing, moved appliances, new electrical, floor, cabinets, etc. No stone was left unturned. VIP handled everything. Everything came out great. Hence the A ratings. We had one problem which was the cabinets. They had to be fully redone twice. The third iteration was finally stained right. But everything got fixed, so I'm marking them as an A. I would not use the cabinet people again, however VIP did a fine job.

It went very well. As with any remodel, there are always a few glitches, but they were resolved in a timely manner to our satisfaction. We got an estimate in early spring, and signed the contract in April. Anticipated start date was mid-July, although this was delayed a couple more weeks because they were so busy. Once the project started, they did continue to work on the remodel regularly until the project was complete. Due to some unforeseen issues, the project took a couple of weeks longer than anticipated, but they were very good about making sure everything was done to our satisfaction. Gene did the estimate, and he was very easy to work with. We needed a heat vent moved, and he suggested the wall instead of the floor, which worked out beautifully! He obviously had an excellent understanding of construction and how the floor boards ran even before the floor was removed. We talked with Jon at the showroom, and he helped us decide on how to set up the marble surround, offering suggestions on built-in shower caddy and soap dish. Jon, Gene, and Mark were always available to answer any questions. The tear-out was done by Mike, subs were used for the plumbing, electric, taping, and painting, but Mark did most of the rest of the project. Communication was VERY good, which is always important. They showed up when they said they would, and always checked to see if we had any questions. They also asked good questions to ensure towel bars, the grab bar, cabinet, etc. were placed exactly where we wanted them. They also made sure the finished project looked really good, even changing out switch plates to a better color than what I originally chose. The wood trim they replaced matched existing trim perfectly. As a side note, the painter they used was EXCELLENT! This painter did a super job, and even offered decorating suggestions. His communication was also outstanding, verifying the date, time, location, and exact type of paint we wanted as well as colors. One of the "glitches" was wires were behind the sheetrock outside the studs, so one got cut during tear-out. No way they could have known that, but it did involve extra work for the electrician. But, he knew what he was doing, and figured out a good way to resolve this. Another "glitch" was some cement leaked into the downstairs bathroom through a ceiling fan when the upstairs floor was poured for in-floor heat. This posed quite a challenge as it was a tight fit to replace the vent fan, but they did find a quieter fan than what we had, with a smaller profile, and they worked at it until they were able to make it fit. Once the medicine cabinet was installed it seemed pretty dark over the sink. Mark picked up a couple different types of lights for us to try so we could decide if we wanted LED or Halogen, and he once again took the extra time to install that for us, even though it wasn't in the original contract. They went the "extra mile" to do the job right and not just get it done in a hurry. The cost was more than originally anticipated, but the costs were reasonable considering the extra things that were done. Everyone at VIP was very professional and personable. They listened and offered good ideas/suggestions. They definitely know what they are doing, and you can just tell that you are dealing with good, honest people.
Description of Work: Bathroom was remodeled, removing old tub, toilet, sink, floor, and mirror. New soaking tub with cultured marble surround was installed along with new vanity, cabinet, toilet, medicine cabinet, glass wall tile, and Dura-Ceramic with in-floor heat. In addition, we had them do a few other jobs around the house (added extra light fixtures in crawl space, replace outdoor light fixtures and closet light, remove and replace trim around garage doors).

They promised "pretty" but delivered "GORGEOUS!" Our 50's bathroom was old and tired, had deteriorating tile and grout everywhere, and the tub was impossible to keep clean anymore. We shopped around and found that many contractors wouldn't even venture into a small bathroom remodeling project. We were excited when Gene Hunt from VIP was enthusiastic about VIP taking on the job. We originally contracted with VIP in July 2012 for work to start in October. VIP got backlogged, and when the job didn't start into November, we postponed it until April 2013. It worked out well for all of us. The job started when promised. Mark Hunt (owner) was onsite almost daily, either completing the work himself, or checking the progress of his crew. All of the VIP crew became like family members-the dogs barely lifted their ears when they came in! We asked them to reset the toilet daily as long as they could; we were only without it for a couple of days (we have another bathroom in the basement to use when it wasn't possible to re-set). Mark was there for all 7 inspections (so we didn't have to take off work to be there), and would call with any concerns or issues promptly. They were all very respectful of our property, kept things clean (including hands-and-knees vacuum cleanup daily of the walking trail through the house). All debris was removed by the crew daily without the need for a dumpster. Mark problem-solved effectively when we found we couldn't install the deep medicine cabinet we'd ordered for above the vanity (a vent pipe was discovered in the wall where it was supposed to go); they cut down the size of the cabinet and installed it behind the door, putting up a mirror in it's place above the sink. He had us mark the locations of each towel bar and the toilet paper holder so everything was customized to our wants and needs. When it came down to the finish, the "punch list' was miniscule, and taken care of promptly. Between the custom cabinetry, the higher end toilet/soaking tub and fixtures, the marble composite vanity/sink and shower surround (only caulked seams in the corners and at the tub edges--so easy to keep clean!), and every detail executed flawlessly, we can't say enough positives about this company and the absolute artistry they provided. We'd be happy to share before and after photos! We're looking forward to having them back to re-do our kitchen countertops in the future.
Description of Work: Complete "gut job" of our small South Minneapolis rambler main bathroom, including removing all of the cement based 50's peach wall and vanity-top tile, floor tile, toilet, tub, vanity cabinet, wall cabinet and lighting. The removed the existing soffit where the vent pipe was, re-routed the vent pipe, and put up new dry wall on 2 walls and the ceiling. Rewired for 2 outlets and new fan, installed custom vanity (with soft close drawers), new door, toilet, porcelain soaking tub, exhaust fan, marble composite tub surround/sink/vanity top, and custom medicine cabinet. They obtained all of the fixtures and custom cabinetry other than the lighting and shower head (we purchased, they installed). All within 5 week time line as promised.

We hired VIP to do a complete bathroom remodel. We fired then before the work got started. Our bathroom is small and maybe this was a small project for them but their communication with us was terrible. We had to call and email several times to get a response, they were extremely unhelpful in helping us figure out what design we wanted to go with and we were basically given no choice in what fixtures we would be getting. Don't make the mistake we made in hiring this company. We are thrilled with the contractor we hired in their place. We hired them because of a friends recommendation. I will say that after we advised them we didn't want them to do the work they quickly refunded our deposit. In response to VIPS response. It was NEVER communicated to us that you were working on trying to locate the products. Your communication with us was horrible from day one. It began with them losing our bid one someone's desk. We were advised it had been sent... I won't go into all the details but it was the extreme lack of communication that was my biggest complaint. I could post the apology letter received from VIP we recieved outlining the list of things that went wrong.

In response to this customer's comments: The customer came to our showroom on two occasions to make their bathroom selections. On December 8th they put down their deposit and we gave them a starting date of March 5th, the day after the Home Show ended. She called on December 26th to let us know they might want to change their tub surround material, so we placed that item on hold. On January 7th, I received an email that they had narrowed their selection to a few tiles for their surround at a retail tile store that we don't buy from. Over the course of the next week, we gathered more information about their selections, and also tried to locate their material at one of our regular tile distributors. She called on January 16th asking to cancel her order. I let her know we were working on the changes, and that the starting date was still March 5th, but she wished to cancel the order anyways. Her deposit was refunded that day. To our defense regarding her " extremely unhelpful in helping us figure out what design" comment; We make suggestions based on our previous experiance, but we do not force people into "one design fits all" remodeling. Each bathroom or kitchen is designed according to the customer's tastes and needs. In this case, the customer was unsure what they wanted and made changes which took some time on our part to investigate. We value each customer, no matter the size of the job, and apologize if she felt otherwise.

They had a positive attitude about remodeling our older home. He understood everything perfectly that we were wanting to do. We really got the feeling that they were a competent company. Their prices seemed fair and Mark was very knowledgable about what we were wanting.
Description of Work: They came to provide an estimate for some kitchen and bathroom remodeling.

My problem was not with the installation but the time leading up to it. I called several times wondering how much longer my cabinets would take and in a nutshell was told they would work mine in around the other bigger jobs. Apparently mine wasn't a big enough job to get attention right away. I was told in the beginning of July they were about 4 weeks out so I was expecting things in the beginning of August. Was told that was just for the custom order of the cabinets. It actually took much longer. In the end it appeared as if they hurried since as I look at my "custom" cabinets now the staining was not neatly done at all! There is stain inside my cabinets (they are white and the stain is very noticeable.) Seems like very sloppy work and maybe they just didn't really care about my "smaller" job. The individual installing was very nice, courteous and he worked very efficiently. I was impressed by how quickly he got things done. I'm a little disappointed that my new cabinets do not have latches but again I was told that most cabinets don't have them these days. Not sure I really believe that but needless to say my cupboards do not latch shut and actually look as if they are open slightly all the time. A friend will help install latches for me so apparently I'm still paying for this job.
Description of Work: Custom built several cabinets around my new stove and microwave. They removed old cabinets, moved the power, installed the new cabinets and the new microwave.

Upon reading this review and hearing the customer's complaint for the first time, my immediate response was to call her on her home phone, as well as her cell phone. We would prefer to hear directly from the customer about any issues that may come up during, or after a job is performed. This is something that could easily be fixed to her satisfaction. Unfortunately, she has not returned my calls.
