Description of Work: Greg built us seven cabinets with drawers and/or doors or shelves. They were all custom shapes and sizes that were built into the walls of an expansion space I am finishing off. The process went smoothly and the cabinets turned out great!

Description of Work: This is a one-man shop. We commissioned Greg to build a customs bathroom vanity. We actually started off with a design from a name brand manufacturer and then tweaked it to suit our requirements. He visited our home twice to double-check measurements and the design. Greg then emailed a 3D picture of the final design before he started construction. The end product was impeccable. Even though pricier options were embedded in the vanity such as custom pulls, a soft close drawer and better wood products, his final price was almost -30% cheaper! We highly recommend Timeless Wood works.

Greg started with meeting with me, listening to what I needed, offered suggestions and took some measurements of the space. He then sent me beautiful three dimensional drawings via e-mail where I could see what the cabinets were going to look like in the given space. We finalized drawings, gave him half down and he went to work. Took about a week to two weeks to complete the building of the cabinets. Greg even made a seperate trip to my residence in Lakeville to install one cabinet prior to the tile'ers so that the height of one cabinet would fit perfectly. After tiling was complete, Greg installed the rest of the cabinets and made sure they fit superbly against the wall. Very happy with the end result!
Description of Work: I have never used a fine carpentry cabinet maker before and I was concerned in the beginning that the job was going to break the bank. Greg worked with me and came up with solutions in order for me to attain the quality while maintaning my budget. Overall, I am very happy with the craftmanship, the look of the cabinets and the service. Greg is very professional, is excellent at his craft and does beautiful work. I am very pleased with the end result.

I purchased a platform bed with drawers but I did not like the headboard so I emailed to Greg a picture of the design that I liked and asked for a quote and time frame to complete. Greg promptly responded within a day and he suggested that we discuss the details by phone. Afterwards he emailed a preliminary drawing to me and I responded with changes. He came to my home to get measurements, finalize the drawing and collect a 50% downpayment. He delivered the headboard to my home as promised and completed the assembly on-site (which was minimal). He was very amenable to meeting at my convenience. The project went very smoothly and the headboard is beautiful!
Description of Work: I had a custom bookcase headboard made for my bed and the finished product exceeded my expectations. Greg did an excellent job drawing up the design, suggesting improvements and finding a wood and color to match the existing platform bed. He was very responsive to my questions and concerns and finished the project on schedule.

Wonderful! He was responsive to my inquiries, showed up on time, was neat, was respectful of our home and yard (where he did some cutting). He's the kind of guy you don't mind having around your kids, which are the only contractors we'll work with. I'm really excited to have Greg do our media cabinet. The trim work was just a small job that I needed help finishing. He did it with a great attention to detail.
Description of Work: Working with Greg was a fantastic experience from beginning to end. I had him bid out three projects and have completed one to date. For the first project, I had him do the finishing trim work on a buffet cabinet I had refinished. He did an amazing job working with the pieces I had pulled together for the project. He also bid out a floating media cabinet (custom furniture) and an office nook (cabinetry). Next on the list is the media cabinet.

We had been looking for years for the right person to build us a fireplace surround. In fact, I joined Angie's List just to find some fresh leads! Greg was amazing to work with from start to finish! I didn't really have a specific "vision" for the project, so he gave me lots of ideas and emailed me pictures of different options. Then he sent me a professional design that I could zoom around and rotate--so cool! All of his responses were fast and friendly. I so appreciated having someone who was quick with email. He even emailed with our stone person so they could tweak the edge finish on the marble just right. And we are simply in love with the finished product. It is glorious. The showpiece of our home!
Description of Work: Greg designed and built an awesome custom fireplace surround for our gas fireplace!

Everything went very well. Greg right from the start understood we wanted to preserve the character of the home. He even right from the beginning convinced us not to use stacked prairie stone as that was not true to the period of our home. He told us about a company that did hand-crafted ceramic tile and we went that route instead. Greg brought over books on craftsman homes. We found a picture in one of them of an oak fireplace mantel with side cabinets and he did his design around that using a CAD program. He emailed us initial designs and we met several times in our home to discuss the design and various aspects of the project. One element of the project we were really concerned about was getting the stain used for the mantel to match the stain of the other woodwork in our home. Greg tried many things and experimented with some ideas and found a perfect match. Greg built the cabinet and mantel in 3 or 4 total pieces and installed everything. We had to do a special adaptation to the project and run some HVAC ductwork through the bottom of the cabinet and that was not a problem at all. Greg was always super professional and even excited about the project and how it turned out as were we. We will certainly use him again without a doubt.
Description of Work: We moved to a home where there was not a fireplace. We wanted to put in a gas fireplace that truly looked like it had been there the entire life of the home (roughly 80 years). We wanted an oak mantel to work into our plan. I looked on Craiglist for existing mantels...but didn't find what I was needing. I then found Greg Beam on-line. His website was very impressive and that he advertised as a specialist in older homes.

We felt like we struck gold when we found Timeless Woodworks. I needed shelves for my books and my husband wanted a media center, and Greg worked with us from conception to the end. He helped us to envision something that would harmonize with the rest of our 1915 home. He used the finest materials and executed expert craftsmanship. The finished project was a twenty foot floor to ceiling job that concealed a water and gas meter. We trusted his judgment and eye when we were unsure, and his work is just exquisite. My husband and I really appreciate value, and the value from Timeless Woodworks was probably the best we have received on any project in our home. We receive comments all the time.
Description of Work: Greg designed, built, and installed bookshelves, a media center, and cabinetry in our home.

Greg was wonderful to work with! He was very knowledgeable in the types of wood, stains and designs that would work well for what we were trying to accomplish. We had an initial meeting to discuss our overall needs, and then Greg offered some great options for our designs. Once the design was agreed upon, he came out for another quick meeting to get his final measurements, and then one more time to install. He was punctual, cleaned up everything, very informative on all of our choices, and a real pleasure to work with. It's been a year since the install, and as he promised, the cherry wood has darkened nicely into an amazingly rich tone. I couldn't be more pleased with this project and I will be calling Greg when it's time to discuss our bedroom furniture!
Description of Work: Greg created a gorgeous, cherry wood, custom mantel to fit over our existing mantel on our fireplace, as well as 6 floating shelves and 2 firewood boxes. This was a very difficult challenge. Our original mantel was built into the brick of the fireplace. So, it couldn't be removed, it wasn't big enough for our flat screen TV, and it was an eyesore. Greg had to measure our existing mantel and come up with a design that would fit over it, and fit flush up against the uneven stone of the fireplace, and bear the weight of the TV. He had to be very precise in his measurements to make this all work. We also had him create 6 floating shelves, which could hold 20 - 30 lbs, and 2 custom fireboxes that would slide in on either side of the fireplace and look like they were built as part of the fireplace. The fireboxes presented a challenge because they had to slide under the stone tablet at the bottom of the fireplace and still allow the lid to open properly.

I could not be more pleased. Greg completed the work very quickly and the quality was excellent.
Description of Work: I needed to replace four wooden column bases in the front of my house. I went to a company that specializes in column manufacture and was quoted $1200/base. I contacted Greg and brought a sample piece of one of the bases with me. He constructed four new bases for me with the exact contour and specifications I requested for $150/base.

The furniture is great and well built, Greg was finished ahead of time, his price was reasonable, and I couldn't be happier. I have had tons of people come work on my place in the past year and a half, and there are only a couple that I feel really good about. I never doubted Greg's integrity for a moment. Really, really pleased with Greg's work. Honestly, the Twin Cities are filled with bungalows, some of which have crappy modifications. If you want a good modification that looks period-appropriate, call this guy up. He does freestanding work, or work that can mostly be done off site, so he may not be able to do your job. I'm super glad he took mine. As for me, I can't wait to throw my housewarming party, so I can stand near this built-in with a casual air and pretend that I have excellent taste; thanks to a decent carpenter who made my dining room look like a million bucks.
Description of Work: Greg made and installed a built-in display case for my bungalow. While he normally does stand-alone pieces (which is what I saw on his website), he measured this one to be built off site and then fully installed. He came and took a look at the spot where I wanted the built-in to go. We talked extensively about the particulars and the options, and he was receptive and professional. He emailed over a few CAD drawings and took my opinion, and emailed over the final one, came over again to re-measure, wasn't fazed at all when I opened up a wall and asked for it to be more recessed than originally planned, and he got started. He finished a couple of weeks earlier than his original estimate. His price included a bunch of CAD drawings, the planning, all the fabrication time, the materials, the installation, and for that, I think $650 was a total steal.
