The Tech Outfit

Description of Work: I had an update from Microsoft that would not automatically install. It had been "stuck" in my update queue for over a year. I dropped by The Tech Outfit's offices (without and appointment) and they said they would try to fix it and only bill me as a "quick fix" which was $50.00. It actully took them 3 hours to get it all straightened out and they said their rates were normally $85 per hour but they only charged me the $50 as quoted. It was nice to get this straightened out and get a good deal in the process.

Description of Work: I walked in on a Monday morning (4:45 AM) to find that our mission critical Linux server was completely down. Attempting to start up, there was a major drive failure (actually 2). I e-mailed Donovan at about 5:15 AM. I can't remember if he called or e-mailed back with minutes. Donovan did as much as he could over the phone for the next hour. He immediately got in his car and headed over. He spent the entire day working on a solution. I was getting e-mails of status reports up to 8pm that evening. During the process, it was apparent that the hardware was not in great shape. Using his creativity, brilliance, and forethought, Donovan installed our backups into a virtual server running on the windows server we had. By 10 AM the next morning, everything was working, tested and live. I have a seasonal business and the information and services on that server was critical. It was old and we knew this was likely to happen someday. The backups and monitoring that was in place actually worked. All data and applications were restored to their original condition. In fact the entire system runs better and faster.
