We were referred to Team Mechanical by Snelling Co. to replace a high velocity AC system in our home with a newer, more efficient model. We are very satisfied with the work performed. The job was accurately estimated and clearly explained. The crew did a great job and worked quickly and efficiently to finish ahead of schedule. They were friendly and cleaned up so that we never even knew they were there. Recommended.

I purchased a new Burnham boiler and a Mitsubishi Air Conditioning system in my rental property from Team Mechanical five years ago and they have consistently exceeded my expectations in service and sales. Their prices on the boiler and the A/C were very fair, but their service and quick response time has truly set them apart from the competition. On the most recent service call, Mike Carlson, waived the service call as a courtesy to me, and this was MOST appreciated. Mike and his staff of experienced technicians are the BEST in the business. I would hire Team Mechanical for any Heating and/or A/C you may be considering and use them for follow up service. I like Team Mechanical because they are highly motivated to satisfy their customers and they do NOT "nickle and dime" their customers with hidden fees and charges. Thanks again Mike and Dennis for saving the day! A job well done!

I worked with two teams (heating/cooling) over the course of two years. The first project was actually part of a basement rehab wherein the old low hanging hot water pipes (and all other pipes) were removed and replace with pex flexible piping that could fit between joists. I also replaced the old huge radiators that ate up about 20 square feet of space with euro style flat wall hung radiators. I had met with several contractors for estimates. Team Mechanical's estimate was in line with the others, but in discussing the project they for saw problems others had not and also found solutions. They were very responsive to my desire to have the outcome meet certain esthetic considerations (which I was very worried about and they patiently listened to and helped me resolve). They also had to work around all the other work going on in my basement. The outcome has thus far been excellent. Heat is wonderful and you wouldn't even know I had radiators unless I pointed them out to you. All of Team Mechanical workers took their job very seriously and obviously felt a sense of pride in their work. By the time the job was complete (it took several months because of MY other work going on, not due to them) I felt like I was not only saying goodbye to contractors, but to friends. The second project was central high velocity air conditioning. Again, they were responsive to my consideration of where the air inlet/outlets would be esthetically unobtrusive but also effective. Like in the earlier project they had several guys working for several days to get the job done. They were incredibly nice and thoughtful about cleaning and doing a good job. In fact, at one point the electric went out in the entire neighborhood and they couldn't proceed. They killed time by sweeping my front landing, steps and sidewalks! The air conditioning works amazingly well in this old house and I think it was a great investment. I would HIGHLY recommend Team Mechanical. They were a pleasure to work with and I have no regrets. I also have rental units and since then have had need for work on those boilers. They were very good helping me try to first solve a problem over the phone (worked!) saving me a service call and another time when that wouldn't help came out early the next morning.
Description of Work: Two projects: first to replace old hot water heating pipes with pex and euro style radiators. Second project was the installation of high velocity air conditioning throughout the house.

Overall, everything was great with them. They were punctual and here bright and early each morning. Once they started, they did a great job. Communication, however, could have been better as to when they were going to be here and with coordinating with other aspects of projects that were happening at the same time. They weren't proactive with calling me. We had another estimate and we chose Team Mechanical as they specialize in boiler systems. Also, their estimate was cheaper than the other estimate we received.
Description of Work: They installed a boiler system for us and installed an indirect hot water system for us. The work took one person about two weeks to complete. They did, at the end, bring an an electrician to install the thermostats.

Initially, they undersized the upstairs unit so it did not cool sufficiently, but they replaced it at no additional cost with a bigger unit. Unfortunately, the fan on the bigger unit went bad shortly after installation and is loud and rattles. I called them on many occasions to come fix it, and they promised they would, but they never followed through, so I gave up and just ended up going to a different provider. In addition, when they installed the larger unit upstairs, they neglected to mention that the size of the unit would preclude me from using the fourth head on my outdoor unit. Now I am stuck with having to install a second outdoor condenser to cool my downstairs (a much more expensive option) instead of using the fourth head to cool my downstairs. Again, I called on multiple occasions to have them come out to look at the installation and come up with alternatives so that I did not have to install a second outside unit, and could use the fourth head They said they would help, but again, never followed through.
Description of Work: They installed a mini-split.

I bought a house with some freeze damage to the heating system. My realtor recommended Team Mechanical to my general contractor for the boiler and radiator replacement. They were able to find a replacement matched the look of the existing radiators (they have a decorative pattern on them.) The entire system worked beautifully this past winter. Though I didn't speak to them directly while they did the work, they were very helpful when I called with questions (it was my first home with hot water heat). When one radiator appeared to be leaking after I had floor sanding done, a service rep came over to tighten things down properly at no charge.

The owner, Mike, listened to our needs and gave us several options and worked with us to maximize the federal tax credit. Team was also the only company that offered a 2 year warranty.

My overall experience was unfortunately very poor with Mike & Team Mechanical. They installed a new boiler and hot water heater in my house in 2003, and there has been issues with it ever since. It is finally at the point where Mike & Dennis will not return my calls, after several attempts & voicemails. It seems they like to install systems - but not service them. My boiler became so bad that the manufacturer rep agreed to install a new one. This system although better, has many of the same issues. There were many occasions that my family went without heat- and that's no fun in Minneapolis wintertime season. Luckily I found a new company that services this type of boiler- which was not easy. This is my first report I have ever written on this website- and I wrestled with leaving a bad report for anyone, but I hope this will ultimately help prevent someone else going through the same experience that I have for the past several years.

Dennis came out to discuss what i was interested in having done. He asked great questions and is clearly knowledgeable about all things heating and cooling. I was interested in a new furnace and air con and after talking with Dennis it was decided that we would reconfigure the heating and add more elements because my furnace was in good working order. He heard what i needed and did not try and sell me something that wouldn't benefit my needs-he heard i was looking to establish a more comfortable environment and he made plan to that affect. I received a bid a few days later and discussed with Mike the owner in detail what i was getting-he even made a trip out to confirm my needs and make sure i was comfortable with what was being done and that it was indeed what i needed. Mike even had the line hide (the channel that hides the air conditioning lines) a few days early so i could paint them to match the siding. The install took about 3 1/2 days. the crew was clearly good at this work-they were professional, kind, a lot of fun and did a great job. Mike and Dennis were responsive to all concerns and questions along the way. Dennis even came out for a final walk through to make sure everything on the proposal was completed. I would highly recommend Mike, Dennis and the crew. They had the best price, were clearly highly knowledgeable about heating and cooling and did a great job. I feel like I was listened to and I got what I asked for.

Not every HVAC contractor is familiar with high-velocity systems (Unico, SpacePak), and even reputable contractors could give you the wrong diagnosis. Mike Carlson and the folks at TEAM are the experts on these systems, especially in older homes.
Description of Work: Needed service on a high-velocity air conditioner (SpacePak) with a suspected coolant leak. The first contractor I called wanted $600 just to do a "leak test" without fixing anything. Mike and his team came out within two days of my call, found the leak immediately and repaired it for about half of what the other contractor's "leak test" was going to cost.

I started calling to schedule a tune-up of my boiler in August. I called again 4 - 5 times and was told that Dennis would call me to schedule an appointment. My last call earlier this month I just asked them to call me and tell me if they were too busy to get to me so I would try to find someone else. I never got a response to this one either. Needless to say I finally checked the list and called someone else. (They got me in in less than a week.) I had hoped that the fact that Team Mechanical installed my boiler would mean something when it came to follow-up work, but, I guess not.

Our insurance company actually gave us Mike Carlson/Team Mechanical's name as being someone they have worked with in the past. I called and they called back within a couple of hours, but in that span of time I had already booked 4 contractors to come out on my one day off that week. So, in figuring that was enough in one day, I did not call back to schedule an appointment. After having the 4 contractors out and still not sure who to go with, we decided to call Team Mechanical. Mike took time to talk over the phone initially about our situation(we had been on vacation when our boiler went out and our radiators froze and bursted)and then arranged to come out when I was available. Mike arrived promptly, assessed the situation, took measurements and discussed options in detail from what kind of boiler, to the many different brands of boilers, and what he would recommend. He stood out from the others because he had pictures/brochures of the many brands of boilers and radiators. He was willing to provide several different estimates, one for the boiler system(with and without an upstairs update)as well as prices for different boilers, and forced air. He emailed the estimates in 2 days as he promised and called to confirm we had received it. He called within a few days to see if we had any questions and if we had come to a conclusion. I very much liked Mike, he was personable and clearly knowledgeable...he seemed to be familiar with installation of many different brands, unlike other contractors who seem wedded to only one brand(it seemed to me that a person who is willing to go with whatever brand we wanted would be more trustworthy, than someone who only wanted to use one brand..perhaps because they were getting a discount, etc.). However, in the end we decided not to go with Mike because his estimate was quite a bit more than the contractor we did decide to go with. It was a VERY tight call though, if we had not met with the contractor we went with, Team Mechanical would have been our choice. The contractor we ended up with was less expensive, but also invited us over to their house to see the actual boiler and radiators that they would be installing...so Team Mechanical was beat out by an exceptional group. I think Team Mechanical would have been great to go with and I would recommend them to friends/family. Of note too, even after Mike knew we weren't going to go with them, he still called to make sure that our current contractor itemized out the bill so that it was clear we were purchasing a high efficiency boiler so that we could get the tax credit under the newly approved economic stimulus plan. We had already knew about it since it was all over the news...of course it was not the reason why we are replacing our system since it was more of an emergency, but still, I thought that was mighty impressive that he took time out to call to be sure we were aware of it...very professional and thoughtful!

I had a total of three bids. Team Mechanical was the only company who was willing to provide the Runtal wall panels that I wanted. The other two companies wanted to install standard white wall panels. When I asked then about the Runtal wall panels because they had the colors I wanted, these companies told me I could have the white panels painted by a body shop. One company even wanted to cut up the concrete floor to install the new Pex tubing even though I learned this was old school and not necessary. Mike Carlson with Team Mechanical took the time to listen to me and he provided in the bid the Runtal panels that I wanted. From my first initial meeting with him and through the entire process, Mike was very prompt in returning my phone calls and he took the time to answer any questions I had. All of the staff at Team Mechanical were professional and the installation was done to my satisfaction. I was very impressed with their lead tech, Dennis, who handled minor issues that developed during the course of the project. Dennis was very prompt in returning my phone calls and he fixed the problems promptly and efficiently. Dennis is an asset to Team Mechanical and he is one reason why I would highly recommend Team Mechanical. Even though Team Mechanical did not come in the with the lowest bid, their bid was very competitive for the product and service provided. The most important issue in dealing with a contractor is having a level of trust. Mike Carlson and everyone at Team Mechanical provided this sense of this trust.

No problems. It was a lot of work for the guys - it took them a full week to do the work, up in a hot attic, no less. They were super nice, very courteous, and cleaned up every day.
Description of Work: Team Mechanical installed a Unico high velocity mini-duct a/c system in my 1919 house in MacGroveland. All aspects of the job were very professional. One day soon after installation, we came home and smelled hot electrical smoke, and thought it related to the furnace. Mike Carlson from Team Mechanical came out, looked things over and fixed a few small things that totally addressed the problem. He saw the issues right away and it took him about 15 minutes in total. Best of all, no charge. He said he could fix another issue for $300-$400 (our previous low quote was $1400), but recommended that we wait a month to see if we were still having problems. This guy is first class all the way and knows what he's doing.

Mike Carlson was very responsive when I called for an estimate. We set up a time and he was right on time. Everything went well in the beginning, but went down hill from there. We agreed to the cost and scheduled a time for the work to be completed. There were delays during the rough-in and the final installation. Here is a list of problems I encountered. The install crew soldering on my hardwood floors, smoking in my house, causing a delay with my drywaller, and not passing the initial rough-in inspection. Not having Mike return my calls. The final work not being done until early Nov. due to supplier issues. Mike did give me a discount due to the delays by the supplier.
