I was told that they would complete the job in three days, so I gave them a check for everything up front. A week and a half later, they still had not pulled the permit and when I called them on it, they said the city did not answer their calls. I called and got an immediate answer that they had not left a message for anyone and had not been in. This happened 3 days in a row. When they finally did pull the permit two weeks later, I was told that there "fantastic" concrete crew were busy on another job and I would have to settle for the second string guys. For a month, I was given a story about how the bobcat was on another job, or needed repair. Finally, the Son of Dave's Floor sanding, whom was subcontracted by Stellar showed up at 4 in the afternoon and started moving the existing drivewas and digging footings. In the process, he broke several of the concrete cinder blocks holding up my house. When he left at 1:00AM, after annoying all my neighbors with th e sounds of his bobcat, he said he would be back the next morning. I called everyday for 3 weeks before he showed up again, this time at 6:00pm. He walked around with a ciggarette talking on the cell phone for 2 hours, and abruptly left. The next day he showed up at 6:30 pm, walked around for 2 hours again smoking on on his phone, but doing no work. Before leaving, he asked for $20 for gas money to get home. I had been calling and complaining to Stellar the whole time, alternating between the owner, the engineer, and the sales guy. The Sales guy was the only one who would answer. After a month and a half of calling daily and three delays, I the concrete finally showed up. Unfortunately, it got there before the guy doing the work, who still had about 8 hours of excavating for footings before he could unload it. The concrete was on thetruck 11 hours before it was unloaded, and by the time he got towards the end, he was on his hands and knees trying to push the now hard concrete into shape. Again, it was after midnight and he said he would be back bright and early. He didn't show up for a week. I pulled the forms off myself and saw large pockets and voids with no concrete as ithad already set up. I called and complaing for 2 weeks to get this resolved and finally had to get the help of the city inspector. Among the issues were that they did not add air to the concrete for the footings, they did not put in the wire mesh to support the concrete and keep it from cracking, the slab was graded to drain into the house, causing my basement to flood for the first time ever, and some footing were only 4 inches thick, not hte needed 8. After no answer upon no answer from the owner, the sales guy said he would send a different crew out to do the apron. Again concrete arrived and noone was there. Turns out the owner offered the original guy the chance to do the apron, and the different crew were told not to come out. When I called and talked to the sales guy, he called the owner adn both crews showed up at the same time. The almost started fighting in my driveway. After they poured the apron, the original guy said he woudl stay and watch the concrete to make sure it stayed drive, and the rain had started falling. As soon as the other crew left, so did he. The other crew came by the next day to check on the aproln and I overheard them talking to the owner of Stellar Exteriors. I asked for the phone and finally got the ower to agree to pull out the slab that was wrecking my basement. He said the second crew would do the job. The promised to have it repoured before hte weekend was over, but it took another 2 weeks. In the process, they dug a large pit in the middle of my driveway to use for fill, causing problems upon problems with the new drivewas I woudl put in afterwards. Again, even though it was on my quote sheet and permit, they did not install the metal mesh to support the concrete. Before leaving for work, I made sure the had the forms in the right place. When I returned from work, I saw they had moved the forms to the original locations, so as not to have to redo the apron. Because of this, the slab was 3" longer on the right side and 1" short on the left. Not to mention it is 2" wider at the end as oppased to where ti touches the house. In addition, the skimed over the door sill into the existing garage, and graded the slab to run all water to the corner and not exit the garage. (this was because they pushed the form lower as well.) Because of this, the garage door of my new garage now rests half on smooth slab and half on the apron. There is, in fact, a 3" difference from one side to the other and no way to fix it. After jjust 2 months, the entire inside of the garage cracked due to no wire mesh. The 40 year old concrete in the old garage does not have a single crack. I will never do work with them again and would not wish their shoddy workmanship and absolute lacj of customer service on anyone.
Description of Work: I hired Stellar Exteriors to pour concrete footings and a concrete slab for a new garage. They gave me a low price and said it would be done in three days, so I bit. Unfortunately, they did not show up for weeks and weeks at a atime and had to pull the concrete out once. They should have the second time but as well but I was convinced that they could not get it right the third time andI had to hire another company to redo it.
