Description of Work: Our airconditioner went out on the hottest day in August. We were able to buy the coupon, schedule the appointment, and have everything up and running in less than 24 hours!

Description of Work: On a hot, late Aug. day I realized the air conditioner was running but the fan wasn't. I checked Angie's List for a furnace co. and saw Standard Heating and Air Conditioning had coupons and good ratings. I called and they let me use the service call coupon and came right away. The repair was expensive but the technician did some other tune-up jobs while he was in there. That helped ease the pain of a large repair bill.

Description of Work: Most recently Standard provided repairs to our A/C system, with excellent service and results. We have used them several times over the past 15 years, for purchase and installation of our heating and A/C system to repair of furnace. Same excellent results each time.

Description of Work: Outside AC unit icing up. Technician was clueless. Came out the first time to evaluate and told me there was nothing wrong and that the unit was working perfectly. I argued against this diagnosis stating that the filters were filthy whent I bought the house and that there had to be dirt build up. I also repeatedly said that the air flow from the inside vents was dismal (as in you could barely even tell that any cool air was coming out of the ducts. The technician insisted that the unit was in perfect working condidtion - which I flat out told him was not correct. He suggested that I CLEAN THE OUTSIDE UNIT with a hose. Hmmmm and why did I pay for services from this company??? After getting nowhere with the technician and him repeatedly saying there was no reason for the unit to be icing up I simply paid the fee and hoped that the problem would not happen again. Of course, the unit iced up again within a few days, and the company came back out (without charging a 2nd service call). This time, they recommended I purchase a minimum of $1400 in services (without any idea of the root cause of the problem) or purchase an entirely new system at a minimum cost of $3000. Since then, I've talked to a different company, and without me telling them about the dirty filters etc., they immediately knew that dirt build up was restricting airflow and that the outside unit's coil needed to be cleaned. Total cost, $100. I would NEVER EVER recommend these guys - 100% incompetent and a total rip off. Absolutely ZERO VALUE! I am simply amazed at the number of "A" reviews on Angies list. Makes me question the source of these reviews (is the company padding them???) and the overall value of Angies list rankings.

Description of Work: Diagnosed issue with air conditioner--discussed possible plans. Scheduled an appointment with salesperson who was equally fabulous. Ultimately the old unit failed (as predicted) and the company got our new unit (and furnace) in really quickly!

Description of Work: Had Standard to check furnace. I did not feel fan was working properly. Explained how it should work and that it was working fine. I was concerned that high end fan(forceful portion) was not working right. Everything was OK. Checked burner to be sure it was burning efficiently. Did notice that thermostat was off by approx. 4 degrees low. Can live with that so didn't replace(125.00).

It started with Arla Frigstad (Sales Rep) arriving on time and being very professional and extremely knowledgable about their products and services. She quoted me on an install and removal of both furnace and air conditioner. It also helped that I had done my research and received 3 other quotes from other respected companies. The whole entire team was A+ and i would recommend them in a heartbeat. The install team was extremely professional and clean. It gets even better their supervisor stopped out at the house for an hour to see how things were going. So so impressed!!!!

Description of Work: We had a new furnace installed in Dec. It was done well and we had no complaints about that. The furnace stopped working in April. Called and a tech came out the same day and found that the condensation pump was not working. Had a new one in truck he would install for $272 for pump and drop the service call charge. This pump needs pellets for lube and help break down hard water. We were told he only had one pellet with him, pump holds three, but we could find them on line. While looking on line to buy additional pellets we noticed that the pump (same exact one) was sold for $42. Seems like a lot of mark up, we called Standard Heating and they said that is what they charge for those pumps!! Our complaint is the excessive price on the replacement pump.

Description of Work: We woke up on a Sunday morning with a very cold house and an unresponsive furnace. We called Standard to schedule an (expensive) emergency technician and within ten minutes, the technician called us back. He explained that he didn't want to cost us the $200 fee if it turned out he couldn't fix it, and was able to walk us through various things that might be wrong. Long story short, he helped us fix it over the phone, got our heat back on, and we'll be scheduling a tune-up appointment with Standard first thing on Monday morning. Fantastic service!

Description of Work: First of all, I got this name off your Web site & I don't understand why it didn't come up automatically. No, I did not hire him In general, the salesman was very professional, however, I believe he was trying to sell me an UNDERSIZED furnace. I have 1300 sq. ft. He also said, "I did not need a variable blower", when in fact all the others were bidding a 66,000BTU with variable speed. I believe, this was his way of underpricing his competition. Would be weary of this sales approach! He said "his 94% efficiency Bryant offerings would not fit in my small space". However, there was another Bryant dealer who quoted a Bryant that would. WHAT'S WRONG WITH PICTURE. Overall, I would give a D rating as the Honesty factor was missing!!!!!!!!!!

Description of Work: The furnace went out on a very cold Sunday. The Angie's List reports on this company were very favorable, but the price was out of line. The $200 charge was only for "diagnosing the problem. The cost of the repair would have been above that.
