+ 0 moreWe've worked with Stafford before. We called them for an air conditioner inspection. On 5/10/18 Dustin reported that our 12 year old A/C compressor and fan were close to failing. We decided the unit was too old to repair, so we met with Jason to talk about our options. He sent us a proposal that include six possible air conditioners; we chose the model that we thought best met our needs. The day the air conditioner was to be installed we got an email with photos and short bios of the technicians. The showed up on time. They spent some time explaining what they were doing and why (new code requirements); they explained how to use the new thermostat we needed (since the A/C was a Two Stage model), and explained the wiring changes and the care and maintenance of the new A/C. We appreciated how thorough they were in their work and their explanations. They cleaned up both inside and outside. Stafford set up the city inspection, and the inspector came out on time. Everything is fine; no problems at all. We've used the A/C a few times, and are happy both with the new thermostat and the A/C. Our new A/C qualifies for an Energy Rebate, so that's a plus as well.

+ -1 moreThey were able to schedule me for same day service. The technician took extra care to "hide" the line for the switched outlet behind existing cabinetry. He was efficient in his work, and very professional. My cost was slightly more due to adding an ARC fault breaker to my setup. Additionally, there appeared to be a mixup with scheduling the state inspector for the inspection. I paid for the permit, but had to call and request the inspection be scheduled. In the end, I would use them again.

+ -1 moreEverything went very smoothly. Of course they pull network wiring the same way one pulls electrical wiring, including in right angles, so they're not recommended for jobs that must meet the highest standards in networking. But for my small in-home office it was just fine.
Description of Work: Stafford pulled network and CATV wiring for me throughout much of the house, and installed wall jacks at all ends. This allowed me to put the cable modem, firewall router, and network switch in a central but out-of-the-way location.

+ -1 moreDave came within an hour of being called to give us a second opinion after we lost all power to our house and were quoted $4500-$8000 from Randy’s Electrical. After troubleshooting he quoted us $800 for the same job. Although we later discovered it was misdiagnosed and we wouldn’t have needed to replace any wires, it was unfortunately too late to undue work on the wires that was started. Regardless, the difference in bids and the promptness of being able to do the work that day was a blessing. No one wants to be out of power in January in MN:). I would highly recommend this company for their fair pricing, promptness, professional and ethical service starting with Peggy their scheduler and ending with Dave the electrician.

+ -1 moreIt went great. Jeremy was the tech and was very professional. He diagnosed the problem quickly and seemed to know exactly what he was doing. He clearly explained the problem to me. The flame sensor had to be cleaned. It was a cheap fix and I was definitely satisfied. His assistant was Gabriel, who was also very courteous and professional. I also had Jeremy look at our gas fireplace, in which the pilot light would not stay lit. He believed that it was due to a possible obstruction in the chimney, so they pulled out a ladder and climbed to the top of the chimney. Jeremy said it was frozen solid so they would have to wait for a few warm days in a row before they could come back and deal with it. They did not charge me for this, which I thought was nice, as it took 2 guys to handle the ladder and it was well below zero with the windchill! Overall an excellent experience. I was very impressed with Jeremy and Gabriel, and will hire again.
Description of Work: We came home late at night and inside temperature was at 38 degrees. The furnace would ignite for a few seconds and then go out. We had been out of town and temps were below zero. We are lucky we didn't have burst pipes. I called Stafford the next day and they had someone out in about 2 hours. That was impressive, as it had been extremely cold in the last couple of weeks and I am sure they were quite busy. We got a call/text from them about 30 minutes before.

We've used Stafford Home Services previously for other light replacements and electrical work and have been very pleased with the results and this time was no exception. Everything from scheduling, getting the free on-site estimate, having questions answered, and the installation was done promptly and professionally. Chris was very patient and helpful as we decided on the appropriate height for each fixture and happily made adjustments-a real pleasure to work with. We would definitely use them again.

+ -1 moreIt went well. Jeremy and Gabriel (and later Dustin) came in to do the work on one of the coldest days of the year. They were very professional and what they were doing, showed me the cracked exchangers. Working with the front office was also great; Peggy and David were very responsive and thorough in explaining things and helping me with the scheduling and financing end of things. I would have wanted the concrete patch to be a little more "finished" but it's doing the job and the work appears very thorough. I would easily recommend this business to others.
Description of Work: A new chimney liner was put in and warranteed, but cracked, heat exchangers replaced.

+ -1 moreOn the day of the appointment, the electrician, I think his name was Steve, but I could have it wrong, called 90 or so minutes early and asked if he could arrive early in half an hour. That was great. He arrived already informed of the warranty so I never even had to mention it, he fixed everything, gave me some advice about some other work we want to have done, listenedto all my concerns, told me where to get new plates for some old push-button light switches, put up with one of our cats trying to play with him and all with appropriate speed and good humor.
Description of Work: Repairs for work under warranty: We had a great experience with our first long list of work done by Stafford in 2014, but discovered a couple issues when we plugged in an electric fireplace three years later. We discovered that the circuit tripped when we turned on the heating element. Then, the circuit started tripping even when we just turned on the fake flames with the heat off. We had a similar experience with a new outlet put in upstairs for a window AC unit. It tripped repeatedly from using a humidifier. Also, we had some sizzling behind a wall by a wall sconce that is on the same circuit as the fireplace. Stafford had also installed the sconce in 2014. The sizzling didn't start until we put in the fireplace so it seemed related. Since three years had passed since we had had the work done, we thought we were past the warranty period, and then we had some life events in our family that tripped us up for a while. When we finally called this week (in Nov 2017), we thought we were certainly past the warranty period and didn't even ask, but Peggy mentioned it to me on the phone and acted genuinely concerned that I mention the warranty to the electrician at the beginning of the appointment, which she scheduled within just a few days of my call.
