All of my experiences with Stafford have been great!! Everyone has been friendly, courteous, professional and fun! I highly recommend them and am very satisfied with their work. It is a comfort and relief to have a reputable electrician in my home resources file!
Description of Work: I received a fair and detailed estimate of electrical work I needed done in my home from Kris, one of the company's owners. Working with Kris was a pleasant and stree-free experience. He arrived on time and was courteous, straight-forward & professional. A week later, Dave Carlson from Stafford arrived at my home on time and installed an electrical box for a light fixture, hung three light fixtures and installed a bathroom ceiling vent/light fixture unit.

Pretty happy overall with both the furnace removal and the install. Due to flooding in the basement, I wasn't able to locate the new furnace exactly where I wanted, but Dan and his workers were able to get it pretty close. I had a couple of estimates on the work, and Dan's was mid-range. I feel like I probably could have haggled a slightly better price, but I was satisfied with the value and the cost. I do want to give a shout-out to George, who did most of the ductwork. He was great - timely, professional, etc.
Description of Work: Removed asbestos-wrapped gravity furnace, replaced with GFA. Cut new supplys in 3 rooms, moved cold-air returns. Ran new gas line for dryer. Small home - 675 sq ft, single story.

In addition to the new wall outlet, the electrician installed the bathroom fan and vented it to the outdoors. He removed an old light switch and wired in the new fan/light timer panel, however the electrical works didn't fit into the existing hole in the tile. He was reluctant to cut into the tile so he left the panel hanging. We enlarged the hole in the tile ourselves but then found that the area inside the wall wasn't deep enough to accommodate the electrical box. We asked Stafford to come back and finish the panel installation, which they did to our satisfaction. We gave them a B for professionalism and quality because we felt that when they came to our house to estimate the job they should have taken the timer panel install into tile into consideration. They should have been able to enlarge the hole in the tile and finish the timer installation at the same time instead of our needing to enlarge the hole and then ask them to come back to finish the job. We were pleased that they did come back to finish the job quickly. We would use Stafford again and recommend them.
Description of Work: We had Stafford install an electrical outlet in our home office. We also had them install a bathroom fan/light we had purchased from a different company and extend the vent to the outdoors. The price reflects their labor and the timer switch and outlet materials, but not the fan/light.

I paid them in installments. The guys were great. The guys who did the work they were here in one day and they did everything very quickly, everything to my satisfaction that I had outlined with the guy who originally lined up the project. I never had anything done like that before so I thought it was expensive, but the work they did was great. I had the guy come over and I had some additional lighting on the outside for safety in front of the house so he helped me with a couple of ideas that we kind of talked through some things and he came back to me with some ideas and I ended up choosing from that. I didn't go with the entire scope of the project because it was really expensive. I was going to do lighting for the entire pathway, but that turned out to be really expensive and I decided to wait on that until this year to see if I really needed it after this initial lighting. They were really great. The sales guy was really helpful and the guys that actually came and did the work were very good. I don't really have anything to compare their price to because I've never done any work like this before. I thought it was expensive for what he did. It was more expensive when the original contract came back and the quote I saw, but that may be that's what those set of things cost. I would use them again in the future.
Description of Work: I used the services of Stafford Home Service Formerly Paul Stafford in September or October 2010. They did some lighting outside and they also did some electric wires for me. They also put a spot light on the back of the house, like a motion detector and stuff.

A neighbor recommended them. I have mixed feelings about them. The owner that did the estimate was friendly enough. One of his workers, George, was really friendly and really a nice guy and helpful. They lacked in a couple of areas, which was too bad. The job went okay and the installation wasn't bad at all. The follow up and attention to detail wasn't so good. We are waiting to get an inspection done because they screwed up the first one. It's a boiler and you have to get down on the floor to see the gauge for the water; it is near the floor and I have to take a magnifying glass and get down on the floor to see it. I am really unhappy with their product but I really liked a couple of their workers. If I had known what I was getting I would have gotten something more expensive. I have a warranty so I have to use them but I don?t know if I would refer them.

In response to the member comments we would like to apologize for any inconvenience the inspection process has caused him. We know that the inspection was not completed the first time due to some minor items that we returned to fix. The new boiler is a small packaged boiler and has the gauge located on the side of it. The previous boiler was very large and old, it had the gauge mounted at eye level based on its configuration. We apologize for not mentioning that this gauge is mounted directly to boiler and would be in a different location. We have learned a valuable lesson, based on this members comments, regarding replacement of these types of boilers. We do appreciate the nice comments about our staff and hope that we will WOW you in the future should some service be needed on your equipment. We did enjoy working with you on this project.

They were okay. They came out and did the work but they did install a wrong circuit breaker. They had to come out and replace it. Other than that they were okay. I would probably recommend them. Their price was okay and comparable to any electrician would charge. I would use them again in the future.

I got them off the list. I spent about $1500 on that service. I think that they were really good and they had a representative come out and did the work that needed to be done. I had a bunch of questions and instead of him trying to up sell me on stuff, he was pretty honest that I did not need the work done that I was thinking I needed done. He recommended that I have a new fuse box put in and update it, so he saved me a lot of money because I did not need to have the other work done. He was very good and honest.

The two electricians showed up on time. They introduced themselves and went to work right away after going over things one more time with me just to make sure everything was still in order. One of the guys worked on hooking up the "side-panel" fuse box in the basement and the other gentleman worked on the several other small things that needed to be done. They asked for approvel before any wires were disconnected and/or moved thoughout the project which I appreciated. I spent most of the time watching the two guys in the basement hook up all the stuff because I thought it was interesting. There were a few times though when I had to go upstairs to check on some window guys who were also there at the same time as the electricians, fixing a window of mine. The electricians were approximately half way through the job when I went back downstairs to watch them some more when I noticed that my meat freezer had a farely large dent in the top of the door. It looked like a drill had been dropped on it to make the size dent that it did. The freezer was next to where the one guy needed to work for the fuse box and I even slid it further away for him in the beginning to give him more space to work. Both electricians had been working in the basement now at this point and when I mentioned the dent to them, they both non-shalantly said, "I haven't even used my drill yet today" and "I haven't even worked over here yet" and they both went back to work as if nothing was the matter. My freezer is not even a year old and it was in perfect condition before they showed up to work. I know this because I just moved the freezer a short time earlier for the one guy to have space to work. I looked at the top of the freezer as I was moving it. I would've seen it then before they got to work. It is this reason why the professionalism is marked as a "C" and the overall experience is a "B". They did absolutely great work and cleaned up after themselves except for some wood shavings behind the freezer which is no problem to me. I even complimented them on how easy they made it look and thanked them both on a good job. They also went over the new fuse-box with me and labeled things accordingly and made sure I understood where things were now located. They even removed a illegal outlet that was too close to a deep-sink I had in the basement. I was impressed... all except for the fact that they lied about the dent in the freezer. I thought it was pretty poor that they would both lie about it. The freezer is not broken. It works just fine and the dent has no effect on its operation so in reality it's no big deal, but it's the principle behind it. If they would've just admitted to it, I wouldn't of asked for anything more anyways.
Description of Work: Added another phone line, several new boxes for outlets/light fixtures were installed, and a new "side-panel" fuse box was also installed.

This is one of the best companies I have ever worked with. I've learned through the remodel of our kitchen and 1/2 bath that there are two pieces to construction, the skills to do the job well and the ability to manage the business and customer side of the project. I would give Stafford an A+ on both. I initially found Stafford on Angies List and requested an estimate from them. The owners Kris and Dan came out together and met with me. Kris drew out a plan for the lighting that beat what I had been thinking and walked me through everything I needed but hadn't thought of. Dan toured my home and came up with several heating scenarios for me to choose from. Their estimates were right in line with others I received, but they were the only ones who took the extra step to create a design and plan that would work and gave me confidence in their abilities. It also helped that one company could handle both my heat and electric needs. The ability to handle both heat and electric turned out to be HUGE. The two sides communicated with each other, helped each other and did whatever I needed without my having to schedule (and pay for) two different companies to meet here. Dave and Jim handled my project and they were my favorite contractors to have in my home. They are skilled, smart and great at customer service. They did everything they said they would and more. No one ever tried to sell me anything extra or throw in new expenses. Schedules changed due to other contractors and Stafford took it all in stride. Peggy in the office was lovely to deal with and quick with scheduling and messages. I can't say enough about how great my experience with Stafford was.
Description of Work: We contracted with Stafford to handle all the heat and electric work for our kitchen and 1/2 bath remodel including replacing two radiators with toe kick heaters, rerouting heat pipes that were in a wall we took down, rerouting the bath vent and the a/c vent and putting in our new range hood including a new duct to the outside. On the electric side they rewired all the electric that was in the wall we removed, put in our recessed and undercabinet lighting and all outlets, switches and thermostats.

Two electricians were here for about 3 hours. I didn't realize that the repair work on the kitchen lights would take as long as it did because each of the 6 lights had to be rewired to meet code; I thought they just needed a new junction box. The installation and wiring of the fluorescent lights in the basement took a couple of hours as well. All their work passed city inspection.
Description of Work: We had work done on two exterior lights (new flood light and recess trim), kitchen fluorescent lights (replaced broken socket and rewired lights to code and intalled cover), basement lights (removed 4 pullchains and blank boxes, installed wall switch for 3 sets of fluorescent lights, 4 ft, 2 lamps each).

I was pleased with how I was treated. When I called I always spoke to a person. My questions were always answered in detail. What I especially liked was that they called the day before to confirm my appointment. Because of this call we were able to avoid a possible snafu. I decided to reschedule the appointment. The day before they called to confirm. The electrician came within the time frame and called right before the appointment to make sure it was an OK time. What I am not sure about is the cost. I wonder for the brief time they spent in my dining room was it worth $175.00. I could have done more research to see what the going rate was.

I was to meet the tech between 1 and 2pm at the rental unit. I was told the tech would need about an hour to complete the maintenance. At 1:50pm I called to see if they knew what time the tech would be there. The gal that answered the phone told me that she though it would be a while yet. I told her I needed to run an errand and asked her if she thought I would be back in time if it took me 30 minutes. She said I would have ?plenty of time? to run a 30 minute errand as the tech was still finishing up another job. I was back at 2:15pm and called again at 2:30pm. I explained that I needed to leave at 3:15pm for another appointment and if the tech needed an hour I didn't think there would be enough time. I told them to cancel the appointment since the tech was at least 30 minutes late.

It was easy to set up an appointment, but we did have to schedule in September so I could get the furnace and A/C serviced on the same day (apparently the outside air temp has to be within certain parameters). Tammy at the office gave me a confirmation call the Friday before the work was to be done, she said that Jim would arrive between 7:00 and 7:30 a.m. Monday. He was at my door at 7:30. Jim was very professional, got right to work, checked out both the furnace and A/C. He recommended adding a damper for the duct leading from the humidifier to prevent cold air from being vented up the chimney when the air conditioner was running, and installed it for $6.95 (the cost of the part). When he was all done he showed me everything he had done (e.g. put a small hole in one duct to do an emission test, then patched it up), and made one recommendation (keep the grass shorter around the air conditioner). The whole job took maybe 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Jim was efficient and informative, and I VERY much appreciate the fact that he didn't try to upsell me in any way, didn't try to get me onto a maintenance plan, nothing like that. The price for the whole job was less than the other companies I called, and I'm very happy with the way everything was done. I will definitely call them again in 2 years when my furnace needs servicing again, and will certainly consider them if I need any other work done.

Overall, their service was excellent. They spent a lot of time at our house on the furnace upgrade job and they were always professional. The furnace works great. The only concern I had was that we still aren't getting enough heat to our bedroom in the winter, but I think it is a structural problem with the house, not the work that Paul Stafford did. I would like them to come back, now that we know the basic furnace system is high quality, and help us figure out how to boost the heat in our bedroom that is on the furthest duct run from the furnace.
Description of Work: We have hired Paul Stafford 2-3 times for different projects. They are always prompt, professional and honest. Their work is high quality and they will tell you if there are any problems. They have helped us with lighting and fan wiring for a bathroom remodel, kitchen microwave circuit upgrade and furnace upgrade. When updating our furnace to a high quality efficient model they spent time to show us how to manage our air duct shutoffs in summer vs. winter to get the most out of our system. They discovered some open air ducts that needed to be repaired as well. Our HVAC system still needs some problem solving but they did well on the parts we have asked them to work on so far. I am going to ask them to bid on our dryer vent upgrade that was put in wrong by someone else.

I talked to Paul on the phone and, given the small size of the job, he said he would be willing to do the job based on "time & materials." He told me what the hourly rate was and also gave me his best guess at how long the job would take. The technician that he sent out did a very neat and professional looking job. [We thought he was going to have to cut out part of the sheetrock in the garage, but he was able to fish it behind the sheetrock and into the existing electrical box and make the connections]. Although I could have gotten it done cheaper, all in all, they did a very good job at a fair price.
Description of Work: They ran wire from another outlet in our garage to install two additional outlets that I needed for use with an electric pressure washer that I had recently purchased.

They did a great job and were easy to work with. Their staff is professional, performed within the designated schedule and submitted paperwork in a timely fashion. We use them regularly because they are a great reflection of our company.
Description of Work: As a sub-contractor, they installed a bath exhaust fan for us.
