I'd be perfectly satisfied and rate five stars except for the #$%&*(#$%^ $89 service fee. I hate them. They removed ALL of the old hardware and left the basement clean

+ 0 moreMy emotional rating is D-, but I'll stick to a C on the grounds that I did receive my seasonal inspection at a fair price, but the vague/not completely true story soured my opinion. Read on: I consulted Angie's List and booked Stafford. When briefed on the state of the furnace, the tech said that the CO (Carbon Monoxide) level was slightly above 100ppm, indicating a heat exchanger leaking and going bad. He recommended that I NOT operate the furnace. He then asked if I wanted a Stafford salesman to come out that same day to let me know how much a new furnace would cost vs. repair with the req'd part. ~$4500 vs $1000. When I asked a few questions about the inspection, I got rather stock answers back, saying the same thing without further information, as if the tech was "sticking to the script." Some thing sounded fishy, but we used the furnace and as a precaution, we spent the night in a hotel. (note: Yes I do understand the dangers of CO poisoning.) Returning the next morning, the cat was still alive and the CO detectors had not alarmed. 2 service calls later ( HSP [C'Point] and different HVAC tech,) MY CONCLUSION is: the +100ppm CO was on start up ONLY, and <50ppm when warmed up and running. The thought of a CO leak was exaggerated and it was used as a scare to induce me to buy something I did not need. I did not buy a new part or a new furnace!

+ 0 moreOne couldn’t figure out how to install it in our home, another couldn’t get around to giving us a quote, one provided an over-priced quote. Jason met the challenge and quoted a larger system and a significantly lower price. In addition, he designed a system that didn’t require that we install wall units in the bedrooms – rather a unit was installed in the crawlspace and fed two bedrooms. The quote was provided promptly and a schedule set. When the day arrived for installation Jeremy and Gabriel arrived. Jeremy noted some adjustments that could be made to the installation that would ensure that the system was as quiet as possible and made them with no change in price. The installation took 2.5 days and the installation was completely professional and workmanlike. It is rare to find a company that delivers a quality product and service at a fair price where service is delivered as promised. I would recommend Stafford without reservation.
Description of Work: We planned to install a Mitsubishi mini-split air conditioning system and we sought quotes from four HVAC contractors.

They took a horrible situation and turned it into a working, safe space again. I’ve worker with a lot of contractors, and these guys know their stuff. Price was lower than the other bidders. I secured bids from several contractors and found Stafford to be fairly priced. All of the people are friendly and professional. They seam to be concerned with customer satisfaction. The A/C install was done when promised and completed on time. All "mess" was cleaned. They scheduled the required inspections. And both inspections passed with no issues.

Sad, if one has to watch with them for two hours while they do their work; perhaps I should have. Fixed what needed to be fixed. He could have fessed up about the screwdriver wall damage. Customers don't like watching them work, and I'm sure they don't like it either. UPDATE 06/28/2018: The company brought over a check for $100 to "make things right"

The house was 19th Century vintage so it had some special issues, like the lack of an available grounded circuit, having a thick foundation in the way of running wires up into the wall, and an electrical panel that required some rearranging before it would accept a new breaker. But he quickly solved the issues and it passed inspection with no problems.
