We purchased a new dishwasher in early March to be installed the following week. This company contacted us on behalf of the home improvement store to scheduled the install. They showed up on time and the install was done properly. However, we were also charged a 70.00 permit fee. As a regular course of doing work with contractors, I check our city's permit database to ensure that if I'm charged for a permit, it is pulled. This company did not pull a permit for the services performed. We called them and they said it was a paperwork error with the city of Minneapolis and it would be resolved within a week. It was not. We called the home improvement store and escalated to their executive customer service. They did not resolve anything either. Eventually we got a call from another installer who told us he had to come out and inspect the work this company had done since they were not licensed to do plumbing in the City of Minneapolis. We will not be buying any more appliances at this home improvement store and this company ought to take a look at its business practices to ensure that they are licensed in the areas in which they are doing work, particularly if the company that is contracting the work to them is charging the customer for permits that are never pulled. We have also reported this company to the City of Minneapolis for performing unlicensed plumbing work and not pulling a permit.
