+ -1 moreAs usual, we took the car in and were promised a delivery time. They called, and we picked up the car, which was washed and ready to go. They remember our car, what service was required and always check it carefully. You can trust their advice.
Description of Work: St. Anthony Mobil has cared lovingly for our 1994 Buick Riviera since we acquired it 7 years ago. They are just like you would hope a dealer's service would be, only more friendly, more clear, and more skilled. We did a whole service this time, and usually do a major service once a year. The car continues to run great, with no problems, mostly due to the care of the service techs at St. Anthony Mobil.

Description of Work: They did a brake job on the car. They had to replace the rotors, and did a complete replacement of the front brakes.

+ -1 moreThe price was reasonable. They have been easy to work with. The first time we used them they cleaned the interior of our vehicle for us at no extra cost. Our car is old and they have been willing to try inexpensive things with us to fix our car and have been successful at it. They are flexible and in our neighborhood. They have given us rides back to our house. They have been very nice people to work with.
Description of Work: St. Anthony Mobil Inc. fixed an electrical short in our windshield wipers on our car.

+ -1 moreVery well. They fixed it and called when done. When I picked went to pick up the car, they saw that I rode my motorcycle and offered to follow me home in my car (essentially delivering my car to my house). The only ding they might get is that they forgot to reset my computer so the air conditioning did work. Once the did that it was fine. To offset the problems the the computer, they took me on a tour (literally under the hood) of the problems I have with my car and actually prioritize the order in which I should have things serviced. That's pretty darn nice. No one seems to do that anymore. That's why I'll go back.
Description of Work: My serpentine belt snapped. Water pump seize caused the problem.

+ -1 moreI have a 1965 Chevy Corvair that needed a front license plate bracket to be legal in MN, and the car has a couple of oil leaks that will need to be fixed later this year - after finding this place on Angie's List I stopped by and found them to be very friendly, knowledgable, and enthused about working on an older car - they invented a bracket as no factory part was available, and they looked at the engine and came up with potential solutions that I can have them perform later this year when I can afford to have major engine work done - very good experience all around.
Description of Work: created from scratch and installed a front license plate bracket on an antique car the never had a front plate before, analyzed engine oil leak source

+ 1 moreThe waiting area was nicely decorated(how often do you see that in a garage?) A woman was there for an oil change and she stated she had been coming to them for 15 years. it turns out me friends that live near there have been going there for years and also had glowing remarks. If they did body work (I've got a little rust) they'd be more than perfect, but they did refer me to a shop. (I actually choose Latuff's in St. Paul for that, another 'A' listing on Angie's.)
Description of Work: I found St Anthony Mobil on Angie's List and all the reviews and grades are spot on. Very attentive, professional and take the the time to explain the whole process i.e. what needs to be done, what can wait, why it needs to be done etc. I needed an extensive tune- up that involved changing the oil; fuel, cabin and air filters; transmission, brake and coolant fluids and a lube job, and tires checked. They got it done within a day, but since I work nights, they gave me a free loaner and even let me pick up the care on a Saturday morning even though they were technically closed. (They must really like what they do because I got the impression that their mechanics will work a Saturday to get a job done.) Roger gave me a free CD with a compilation of music that they put together for 'summer cruising'. The final and very pleasing touch was the washed and shiny car that runs like a top now.

+ -1 moreI needed a second opinion about having my brakes done after an estimate from Car-X felt shady. I came to St. Anthonly Mobile based off of their ratings on Angies list. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I was shown how my brakes work and we looked at my car and what needed to be done. I trusted what they had to say because I was shown it, not just given a piece of paper with all of the prices. I was given a ride home and picked up when the job was done. The price quoted was exactly what I was charged and it was $100 less than my original quote from Car-X (because there were not 'extra's' that 'urgently' needed to be fixed). St. Anthony Mobile has a new long-term customer!
Description of Work: Remove and replace front brake pads and rotors on vehicle. Found the head on one of the caliper bracket bolts had been previously stripped - installed new bolt, clean and lubricate caliper slides, apply disc brake silencer, clean surfaces.

They suggested waiting on rear suspension until we tried it with just the front done, as it was lower priority and the car would be safe (although noisy) without it and there were no duplicate labor charges between the two. We appreciated that they were not trying to run up the cost.

Description of Work: Our truck was recently stolen. However, we were lucky enough to get a call that the Mpls Police had recovered it and that it could be picked up at the Mpls Impound Lot. I called St. Anthony Mobile right away to find out if we could get it towed there and if they could fix the peeled steering column and shattered back window. They gave me the number of a towing company in the event that we couldn't get it to start due to the peeled steering column. Somewhere along the drama of the truck getting stolen, someone had mentioned to me that perhaps we'd be able to "hot wire" it ourselves to get it started instead of paying a towing company. Once we got to the impound lot, it wouldn't start so we called back to St. Anthony Mobile and we're talked through how to "hot wire" it ourselves. That saved us a couple of hundred dollars in towing charges! We then drove the truck to the station, and even though it was just past closing time, they knew we were coming and had stayed open to let us bring the truck in. They found us a used replacement steering column and they also repaired our back window. While we were waiting to get the truck back, they let us use a loaner car free of charge. The truck was repaired in just a short amount of time and we were pleased with the repair job.

We had moved away from Minneapolis for a few years, but have now settled in St. Paul, and we continue to take our cars back to St. Anthony Mobile. They never overcharge, or try to "create work" that doesn't really need to be done. Their prices are very reasonable, their service is fast and professional, and they are very helpful and easy to work with. We would never again go anywhere else.

Before work was started, they asked me to come over and inspect the current condition of the brakes if I was available, or discuss over the phone if not (including offering a ride there and back). Very professional, reasonable markup on parts and labor estimates.
Description of Work: 1996 Volvo station wagon, rear brake pads and rotors, rebuild parking brake (shoes had corroded completely and pieces were jamming the brake), oil change.

+ -1 moreI BROKE THE TAIL LIGHT OF MY VAN BACKING INTO THE GARAGE. THEY FIXED IT QUICKLY AND FOR WHAT I AM TOLD WAS A REASONABLE PRICE. (ACTUALLY, THE LABOR WAS ONLY $24; THE MAJORITY OF THE BILL WAS FOR PARTS.) THEY ALSO MANAGED TO REMOVE SOME GARAGE PAINT FROM THE AREA SURROUNDING THE TAIL LIGHT, WHICH I HADN'T EVEN ASKED THEM TO DO. THEY WERE COURTEOUS AND HELPFUL.

+ -1 moreThey explained that the leak may have been caused by the Dex-cool antifreeze that was installed previously, when I had the radiator flushed at the dealer. Dex-cool was also factory installed. They did the work promptly, did not exceed the estimate, washed the exterior and vacuumed the interior.
Description of Work: Radiator had a leak. They pressure tested it, found the core was leaking, and determined it would be best to replace it than to repair it.

We are trained and able to perform Factory Scheduled Maintenance. We even provide minor auto body repair, which is limited to replacement of rear view mirror, door handle, and trim replacement.
We do not perform auto body repair that requires replacement of body panels due to a collision.
