Services we don't offer
Handyman Services, Interior Remodeling, WE CANNOT HANDLE REPAIR REQUESTS AT THIS TIME.
We appreciated their responsiveness to our estimate request. After deciding it was too expensive to insulate our attic area, Snap was nice enough to suggest that we ask for a refund of our Angie's $99 Big Deal since we weren't going to be able to use their services. Even though they didn't perform any services for us, we were impressed by their professionalism.
Description of Work: We purchased a Big Deal for insulation services to be performed. We had Snap come out to give us an estimate for putting additional insulation in our attic areas. The estimate for this service was much more than we wanted to spend at this time so we chose not to hire them. They were very professional and responsive during the time we met with them.

Every aspect of the process went very well.
Description of Work: I needed someone to clear the gutters and repair a downspout. They cleared the gutters and also made the repair that was needed to a downspout connection. They provided information on newer gutter systems which may work better for our home. The cost was quite reasonable but I cannot recall the amount. The Snap workers came on time and did the work thoroughly and quickly and we were very happy with the result.

All work was done well. Our only complaint was that the individual doing the work completed half the work, then left and didn't return to finish for several days. (Note: - he was in touch with us over this period). The bottom line is that it was an inconvenience, but not a major problem.

Excellent! I purchased an Angie's Deal, and they were pro-active in contacting me to schedule. Always prompt and professional. Received a quote for blow in insulation in my attic, and also for some insulation repairs in wall areas where I've had some problems in the past with freezing pipes. Scheduled the work, and they were prompt and professional and cleaned up everything afterward. Very easy to work with!

SNAP apparently had some major issues with an employee subcontractor they had assigned to do my work. (I've been told that individual is no longer with them and is facing legal action.) That said, the owner did finally call to follow up and they very quickly made everything right with a full refund and a cash bonus compensation for my long suffering ordeal. I cant fairly rate them on the partial work on the interior stairs that was done, since it was for free, but I will say that I am 100% satisfied with how this all turned out. They obviously care a lot about their customer service, reputation and ultimately doing the right thing. That is priceless these days.
Description of Work: I have not received the service or had my money refund yet... I was contacted right away and at first told that I was outside the service, but because they had a local carpenter living nearby they might still be able to do the work on my interior stairs, front porch, and/or basement remodel construction projects. I have spoken with the company twice, but have not heard a thing for almost 4 months now, so I really can't give a fair assessment of their work. But so far I would give them a D for follow through on customer service. It may just be a case of slipping through the cracks and I need to follow up with them as well soon to at least get a refund if they can't do any work for me after all.

Jobs went really well. The kitchen job was a bit tricky due to the limited space I had and the fact that the room had formerly been a porch. I'm really bad on names so I don't remember the guys name who came to do the work but he knew what he was doing; Luckily I had some pictures taken during the construction of the kitchen from the old porch. He was able to figure out that we needed different hangers than I had bought and he went out and purchased a couple that were correct. Then he was careful to make sure that he had good wood all the way to install them. I thought the basement shelves would be pretty simple but there were a couple of snags there too that he was able to quickly figure solutions for. All in all I was very happy with the work. If I hunt real hard and am picky enough I might complain that he left about a teaspoon of sawdust on the kitchen counter.

I was very pleased with the service.
Description of Work: I was told by an energy audit that I needed additional insulation in my attic and that it should cost below $5,000. I joined Angie's list to look for a company to install the insulation. I talked to Snap Construction, they sent out a representative who was very professional, and he arranged to have their crew put in the insulation the following Monday. The crew of two did a great job, cleaned up afterwards.

I called Snap construction because the advertisement I saw said they specialized in energy efficiency. I live in a condo and have 2 wall unit air conditioners that I need to winterize every year and doors and windows that aren't air tight. I called Randy on Friday and he sent Mike out on Monday. Mike looked at the problems. He couldn't fix my air conditioner problems, but he insulated the windows & door. I asked how much I owed and he said nothing because he wasn't here that long and it wasn't much work. This is the type of company I like to do business with. One that if they can't fix it doesn't try to talk you into something you don't want.
Description of Work: Weather stripped front door and 2 windows. Couldn't give me any better fix than I have for the wall unit air conditioners.

Mike worked with two other individuals to get the whole job done quite a reasonable about of time. Everyone was great to work with and respectful of our time and privacy as they were completing the job. The project (exterior door repair) was more than either of us bargained for but the price and final product could not have been topped anywhere else. Thanks for the good work!

Talk about a full service construction company. We initially called them for their Angie's list Siding special and ended up using them for a ton of other stuff. Our house is a contractor's worst nightmare. It was built in 1902 and almost everything about it is custom because it was built before anything was standard. The biggest issue we had was our current siding was asbestos cement board. Most of the contractors had no idea what to even do with it. Snap right away said they could go over it and seal it all up. We thought this would make our windows look sunken into the siding. They said "No problem." They built new window wraps and hand bent aluminum over them. They did this in freezing cold weather. The siding to the garage is gorgeous. It looks like a brand new house. I always had a dream of having a house with a big red door so they helped us pick out the right one, drove it to our home from Menards, I painted it, and they put it up. They even cut the jambs to fit our weird 1902 door jambs. There was an additional weird kitchen door we didn?t want anymore. They insulated and sealed up. They jackhammered out the cement stairs. They also moved the original 1902 dormer intact from our north faced old door to over our east door and reroofed it. Now we don?t get rained or snowed on while trying to get into the house. They removed our old railings and rusty bolts and installed brand new aluminum railings. Sometime when new-fangled electric garage door openers came out, the previous owners cut a notch out of the main support beam of our garage. Over the years the garage had started to bow from the stress. We showed it to Mike and they were in the next week installing new support beams. Now our garage is structurally sound and the rafters are about 3" higher. They showed up when they said they would, were punctual, up front about the costs and time frames, efficient, and cleaned up the worksite. They took care of the permit pulls, city inspections, dumpster drop off/removal. Everything. There is literally nothing these guys cannot do or figure out. Everything we threw at them, they had a fix for. Being kind of new homeowners, I cannot emphasize how good it feels to have a contracting company who knows what they?re doing, operates a team of well-rounded and experienced staff, does quality work, and is conscientious of your budget. On top of that, they are the NICEST darn people. Mike, Dave, Olec, Vasili, and Jesse kept us well updated and held our hands through the whole process. We are completely satisfied with the work they did and plan to use them for many more projects to come.
Description of Work: New vinyl siding on house and garage New window wraps New railings Removed concrete steps Old door removal New door/storm door installing Dormer removal and reattachment to another side of the house Reinforced structural integrity of the garage

Snap Construction was very nice in setting up the appointment for a handyman. We discussed in advance what I needed to have done, and in particular, the replacement of two thresholds -- back door and side door to garage. We agreed that the handyman would have to view the work and get dimensions on sight. Mike was very nice and accommodating with the work. He arrived about 40 minutes late, but was very good about calling me before he was due to say that he would be delayed in arriving. I had prepared a list of things I needed to have done and priorities and we went over them before he began. We decided that one of the projects -- replacing the threshold on the side door to the garage --would require too much effort and probably I needed a new door anyway, so we decided to eliminate this as one of the handyman chores. I had to leave for doctor's appointment about half hour after he came, and arranged to stop and pick up lumber per his specs for threshold on my way back from doctor's appointment. Mike began work on list of things that needed doing while I was gone. My son was home while I was out. I returned with wood and Mike began working on threshold, but he had to go back to shop to get it shaved down and cut properly to fit, and was taking lunch break too. Mike was gone about two hours. While Mike was gone I noticed some things that needed adjusting -- picture in family room was placed partly over bottom of vent up on the wall, and Mike had installed coat rack for downstairs bathroom in wrong place -- on the lower part of a wall rather than behind the door. I had told him that I wanted a plaque hung there, but had forgotten to give him the plaque and he had installed the coat rack there instead. He had asked my son about it, but my son had misunderstood. Also, Mike pointed out that I did not have all of the corner guards that I needed. Mike promised to fix the coat rack; we had a good laugh about the coat rack installation. I went out to get the corner guards and run a quick errand. When I returned about 45 minutes later, I found a note from Mike indicating that he had to leave in order to get the van back to the shop on time; he left his number to call and promised to come back and finish repairing the holes in the wall left when he removed the coat rack and do whatever else he needed to so that I was satisfied. As indicated, the coat rack and picture were the only concerns I had. We spoke and made plans for him to return the following weekend (December 8); that ended up not working for either of us, so we rescheduled for the following weekend December 15 at 10 a.m.). He did not show up and did not return my call, although I did leave a message telling him that if I didn't hear from him by noon, I would have to make other plans for getting the work done. I hesitated before making this report, because I really liked Snap work and liked Mike, and he did great work on the threshold, the moulding and other odd jobs.
Description of Work: Handyman repairs: replaced wooden threshold on back door; replaced pre-cut and primed outside moulding on garage door and painted moulding; installed picture hook and positioned 60 X48" picture on wall (picture already had wires attached; just needed hook properly positioned on wall and picture placed on hook); hung smaller picture and plaque; installed corner guards on walls; repaired old cedar chest; replaced light switch cover; one or two other small jobs.

We appreciate the opportunity that Angie's List provides its members to give updates to initial reviews. Our initial review of Snap Construction was less than stellar and we gave an overall grade of "F". The manager of Snap Construction, Randy, contacted us; was very apologetic, and offered to have one of his top contractors, Mike Bergren, come to our home to complete the work. AND, Randy offered to refund the money that we paid (check to be sent to our home). This experience was completely different and quite superior as compared to the first time around. Mike called to schedule the appointment, arrived early on the appointed day, was very professional and he thoroughly discussed with my husband the work to be completed. To sum it up in one word: exceptional. Mike quickly observed the substandard materials used by the first contractor. He then secured and installed the proper insulation. Mike also went above and beyond what was required to fix a window that required a crank. This was not part of the work he came out to do. Mike returned first thing in the morning on the following day to complete the job. There is the adage - and I'm paraphrasing - that one bad experience as a customer can erase all of the previous good work done. We'd like to amend that statement. When a business acknowledges and corrects what went wrong - and also offers superior services - that greatly improves their reputation. Thank you Randy and Mike for going out of your way to follow-up and ensure that our second experience with Snap Construction in no way resembled the first. It is for this reason that we are so willing to change the grade from an "F" to an "A". It is deserved and we wouldn't hesitate to contact them in the future.
Description of Work: What: A special price from Snap Construction for Angie's List members to winterize the exterior of the home for $169.00. Result: Superior service Replaced caulking with new caulking strips around two doors, new caulking strips around four windows and other exterior winterization services.

Our old roof was removed, a longer ice shield was applied and our selected new roof was added. Extra perks were the venting pipes were painted to coordinate with the roof and the bathroom vent was improved to exhaust better. A magnet was used to make sure all the old roof nails were collected and clean up was well and effectively. We appreciated the candor of SNAP representative, Rich. He was very knowledgeable and explained our roof type options and met with us several times. We felt he was very honest and straight forward in representing SNAP.

Within a hour of me purchasing an Angies List deal, I was called by Snap Construction to set up a time for gutter cleaning. They were able to get to my house that afternoon and when I got home, all the gutters were cleaned. They called throughout the day to let me know the status of their arrival time and upon completion as well as a follow up call the next day. Amazing communication that I have not experienced with other companies. I am very satisfied with the work and would use them again.

A crew of a couple guys came to clean out our gutters - they were on time, completed the job efficiently and did quality work. The only issue was they threw some of the leaves from our gutters into out neighbor's yard. Thankfully we saw them so we had them clean it up - otherwise, we were happy with their work and would hire them again.

Overall the service was excellent. They were on time to provide the bid, returned calls and emails, promptly and did an excellent job with the work specified in the contract. Several unplanned issues arose during the project and they handled these without any problems or any "up-charges". This is a HUGE reason I'll use them again, when necessary. The only thing that was a "con", was they left their sign on the property after completing the work. No big deal though. They deserved the advertising opportunity.

Took 2+ visits because the caulk was not applying properly. Overall, quality work.
Description of Work: Caulked around windows; checked roof for caulking needs. Mike was very meticulous and did great job. 3/13/13 Addendum: Caulk is coming off around basement windows. Company to redo when warmer weather. Grade changed to "C." Verbal discussion with Mike times three to replace two pieces of siding due to hail damage and to put a cover over second story bathroom vent because vent flap was broken and wasps were flying in during the summer. WInter came, vent ripped open, and never heard from Mike. Situation discussed with owner. Satisfactory outcome.
