I was pleased with the experience. The technician was very nice and I found him to be honest and straight-forward. All the aspects of the audit were performed as listed in the "Big Deal" promo. Jim, the technician, must have accidentally put out the pilot light in my water heater while conducting the efficiency audit on my furnace and he was very thorough and adamant that he make sure it was working before he left. I was pleased with the estimate I received for the attic insulation, and felt that he was honest in recommending only those aspects of home insulation which would be cost effective and worthwhile. Should I hire this job in the future, I will hire Snap. He was also very good about making sure that I had the proper paperwork to be eligible for EE rebates and that I know how to submit them.
Description of Work: Snap performed an energy audit on my home, and then gave me an estimate for insulating my attic.

I just misunderstood what the Big Deal was. The contractor was professional. I didn't give him a 'A' because he missed the first appointment (although he did send me an email letting me know), but required a second phone call for the next appointment.

Arrived well prepared. I had a concern about how long it would take as I had another appointment, but he said it would take only about 10 minutes which made me reconsider whether it was worth $149. But he was pleasant, thorough, gave me a review that the roof was in okay shape, suggested that the vents needed to be caulked around yearly (he did it for this year), and estimated that I probably had another 10 years on my shingles. I asked about options for dealing with rotting wood around my porch windows, and he gave me an estimate for having them "clad" with aluminum. His consultation made the price seem a little more reasonable.
Description of Work: Inspected the roofs on both the garage (detached) and house for any roof/shingle damage.

They clearly did not want to do the work because our roof was steep, even though the deal states "Roofs and those with a pitch greater than 6/12 can be done for an additional fee" Big waste of time for everyone involved, and I took work off for them to come.

Bought the coupon to bring down the cost of having some window hardware repaired and to also have windows re-caulked before winter. Scheduled an appointment, guy came over and told me whats needs to be done. Had to call numerous times to follow up when the service would be done and how long it would take for parts to come in. 5 months later still have not received a call when the work will be done. very disappointing. stuck with a $100 coupon with no services done. wont buy coupons like this in the future. 6/03/2014 update Was able to get a refund for the coupon in January 2014. Cost was never an issue for me I was originally quoted $450+ for the window caulking, widow hardware parts, and repair on 3 windows July 17th 2013 by Dan from Snap Construction. Coupon was to save me $100 off the cost. I was aware the parts could take a couple weeks to come in. Dan left me to believe that he would be able to get the parts and make the repairs. Dan never said to me once that the work would be an issue or couldn't be completed. The coupon was clear that it was for caulking and cost could also be added to window repairs. If Dan couldn't make the window hardware repairs I would have still used the coupon for the window caulking service to get ready for the Fall. Dan was polite but never once said the work couldn't be done and even said the parts would be ordered from Andersons. He even asked me to send mobile pictures of the windows on July 2nd after he made his second visit in July. I'm only updating because some of the provider response is false. I contacted Dan & Snap in December I never got a response from Dan, but was able to speak to Randy a manager at Snap he gave me an excuse/reason that they got pretty busy and swamped in August due to MN's storm damage repair season . He said he would speak to Dan and have him give me a call and check with him to set up a time to come out make the repairs as agreed. Never got that call from Dan and about 10 days later I contacted Randy. Randy who was polite and very apologetic over the fact that my time was wasted over the phone he said I should be able to get a refund through Angieslist. They never once said repairs were outside of the scope of the coupon.... The deal you made with Angieslist, "$100 for Three Hours of Window Restoration and Caulking" is not my fault or problem. No work was done and know body ever said to me that we will not be able to make those types of repairs.....I have emails and text correspondence showing that we were in communications in July 2013 that work was to be done.....Never got any excuse to why the work could not be done after Dan said he will complete the work.

From the owner: This is a big deal $100 for a few hours of items within the project. Tony wanted extra work done. We took the trip out there to help him out and he wanted us to replace hardware and fixtures that we don't have on the truck. We specifically outline what its that we can do as angieslist takes half and the other half goes toward gas and labor which doesn't cover our costs. We can't afford to go back out to fix the items he needed fixed and he doesn't want to pay for that. He expected us to come back to his home again with the proper tools to do items outside the scope of the deal. We told him how to get his refund. That he paid angieslist and we do not have access to angieslist credit card processing to give him the refund. We gave Angieslist a heads up he would be calling and it was ok to refund the money. Other than going to Tony's home and picking up the phone for him to call this refund in I am not sure what else we can do as I don't have his credit card info to get the refund.

The Big Deal was for Snap Construction to come out and inspect our roof and do minor repairs like caulking holes and re-attaching loose shingles. It took a while to get a guy to come out, and when he arrived he informed us that our roof was too steep and so he could not do the service. He did not offer to do it for an additional charge or provide some other alternative, he just said the would not do it and we needed to petition Angie's for a refund. Seemed kind of lame to me. And another thing bothered me. The cost. The Big Deal would have been $149 which was supposed to be half the usual price, but the guy kept telling me it wouldn't take long, only a half hour. $300 original price for a half hour of work? Didn't make sense. Seemed like even the $149 not that great a price for only a half hour of work. Anyway, just give me the refund and we'll be done with it.

Snap Construction advertised for providing and installing $500 worth of insulation for $99. It seemed to good to be true, so I read the description in detail. As it turns out, they will only provide the deal if you purchase much more than $500 worth of insulation / installation. Their description described the pricing for greater than 500 square feet of insulation, but did not make it clear that this was required to qualify for the service. It seems to me that the claim of "$500 of insulation for $99" is deceitful given it's impossible to actually get just that and their description doesn't make that clear. I gave them a D instead of an F since I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that it was just a poorly written description and not intentional deceit on their part.

Response from the owner: Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that you thought our deal was deceiving. The description in the deal is as follows: "Snap Construction charges anywhere from $1.50 to $3.50 a square foot. This is for jobs that are at minimum of 500 square feet. Typical insulation jobs cost anywhere from 1k on up with the average being around $1750" We will kindly take your feedback and try to word our deals so that there is absolutely no question what the deal is. We work hard to maintain our reputation and our goal here wasn't to deceive anyone. I can tell you that we wouldn't throw away years of work and good reviews for this coupon. It isn't what we were looking to do. Just looking to give you a good deal.

We can think of nothing that Snap Construction could have done better. We absolutely love our salesperson, Jim. He was always quick to respond to our questions and concerns. He explained things before, during and after installation so we always knew what to expect. The siding crew was always pleasant, professional and considerate. They worked very long days but always left the area neat and tidy at the end of the day. They, too, were extremely cooperative when we asked them questions or expressed concerns. Although I offered to trim back the Lilac bushes even more, they said it wouldn't be necessary and worked in a very snug area as a result. I know we'll appreciate that even more next spring. There were some minor "fixes" that needed attention after the crew left and Jim was wonderful at making sure they were corrected to our standards. Never once did we feel like we were simply "being too picky". It should be noted that we live in a double-wide mobile home that was manufactured in 1977. I have found that a lot of businesses will not even consider working on a mobile home. Snap Construction didn't even flinch when I told them. They did, however, verify with Hardie Siding that the warranty would be the same, something I hadn't even thought to consider. Living so close to a busy County Road, one of the unexpected benefits of our new siding has been the noise-deadening we have experienced. What a pleasant surprise! Also, what a difference in temperature control in the home itself! We are very pleased with our decision to go with the James Hardie Siding. It looks great and we've had strangers compliment us on how nice it looks. We are even more pleased with Snap Construction. They installed a quality product in a timely, professional manner. But, best of all, Jim proved himself to be a wonderful representative for both companies. Because of him, we already plan to have Snap Construction do our windows next spring.

If I had known what I do now, I would not have hired the Madison office of this company at all. The foreman/manager never inspected the interior of the house or garage roofs. there obvious problems that should have been repaired at that time. He wasn't here to supervise the work and shortcuts were taken. Apparently, he was not performing up to the standards of the parent company and was subsequently fired. The Madison office was closed, leaving several clients with problems that the company was having to handle long distance. There were areas of my roof where the shingles were put down over loose boards instead of simply screwing the boards back in place. There were problems with the drip edge not being installed correctly, Shingles were not trimmed to the edge of the roof and flashing was missing where it was needed. The person sent out by the company to fix all of this was competent and did repair the issues. His attitude was an issue for me personally and for the construction crew who were here to perform other work on my home. His work ended up needing to be performed when the other work crew wasn't here.
Description of Work: Re-roofed my garage and house. Removed three layers of shingles from the garage and one layer from the house. Replaced shingles with architectural style shingles. Unfortunately, they fired the person who oversaw the job and ran the Madison office right after my house was completed. There were problems with the work and since they had closed the Madison office, it was difficult to get the problems fixed. They finally hired someone local to do the repairs, after multiple phone conversations with the office in Minnesota and placing a complaint here on Angie's list. They did try to make up for the hassle by paying for some repairs that were missed by the original crew that I would have had to pay extra for at the time.

He said, ask for a refund and he would do it for free to make up for my waiting all day for no one to show. Goodwill gesture, we'll see if this works out.
Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal from Snap Construction.
The overall experience was good. They quality of work was excellent. The roofing took only a day and they did a good job cleaning up afterwards. Right as they were about to start the siding a storm front came through, so I inconveniently had the large dumpster in my driveway for almost a week (nothing they could do about that). My project manager did a good job negotiating with the insurance company. It sometimes took him a while to get back to me with information or answers to my questions. However, when there was a last minute change to add foam-board insulation to the siding, he was right on top of it.
Description of Work: They provided repair and replacement services to my house after hail damage. They worked with my insurance company and they replaced my roof, gutters, and siding, and repaired damaged window screens.

They were quick to respond, came out and assessed the damage and then met with my insurance claims adjuster, which made the process easy for me. They performed the job within a reasonable time frame, and it looks great. I had one issue that I noticed after they left, and I called and the crew came back and fixed it that night. I would hire them again. I had never heard of this company before, but they were local, and most importantly they and had good ratings on Angie's List so I hired them without hesitation.

The company has gone above expectations to help me out of a mess that I got myself into by hiring questionable sub-contractors. They have been more than fair and have made sure that they stand behind quality workmanship. What started out as a shaky relationship with one of their salesmen, and left me questioning the company has turned into something that I can say has left me eating my words. I have learned a lot through my experience with this company as a first time homeowner (most lessons self-induced by learning things the hard way). The company is a class act and won't let you down. I am extremely happy with their customer service and their commitment to make things right. Their siding craftsmanship is gorgeous and flawless. Thank you Snap...and a special thank you to Ryan Nelson for being patient and fair. He exudes what customer service and satisfaction are all about. I thank him for that a million times over. Dan did a beautiful repair on my home. It required finding matching siding. My house was resided 7 years ago and there was siding that was a close match but not exact. He removed existing siding from an area that had limited visibility due to shrubs and patched the damaged area. He replace the original siding that he had removed with the new. I was particularly pleased with Snap because when I had the damage I called several other top Angie's list companies and none would even give me an estimate. "They didn't want a small job!" They were all pleasant but not interested. Snap gave me immediate information to help my decision making and had someone come out and look at the damage. Thy checked with the construction company that had records on the original siding and found the close match for repairs. I appreciated the additional leg work for such a small job. Their willingness to take on a "small" job assures them that I will call them when I have a big job!

Came in with an estimate of $5,000 for 2 hours worth of work to blow in attic insulation up to R-50. We discussed and it eventually came down to $4,300. It was my first estimate, so I didn't exactly know what it should cost. I ended up getting a few more that included air-sealing, which I learned is critical, for around $2,500. Maybe they just didn't want the job, but they sure tried to sell it. If you're going with them, I'd just recommend getting other estimates to validate price. Beyond price, their service, punctuality etc.... was great.

I contacted three roofers for estimate as to whether I needed a new roof, or not. This was the first one. He was a young man, very confidant and a good personality. After inspecting the roof, he said there was hail damage, and he would meet with our insurance adjuster to evaluate the damage. This was on a Monday in August. I had a second roofing company come on the Wednesday of the same week. This one, who owned the company, said there was no hail damage, and he couldn't justify saying there was damage. He was very helpful, in giving me information on how to make a claim on my shingles, due to the shingles being defective. In September, after a vacation trip, I had the third roofing company evaluate my shingles. He, also, said I did not need a new roof. I had evidently gotten a mix of shingles, some good and some not so good. He was checking to see if he could find replacement shingles since the company has discontinued the shingles.I have not heard back, at this time. So-- the question?? Do I need a new roof or don't I? I will call the first company, ie Snap Construction, and have them send out a veteran roof individual. At this point, I am dubious.More later.

From the owner I have reached out several times and have written you an email asking what we could have done or what you would like done as all our documentation shows that we did what we were supposed to do within the scope of the job. Customer service and our companies response is everything. As we continue to grow and fine tune our business it is important to get feedback to be sure that we can modify what we have created to be the best company in the area when it comes to quality and customer service. The offer was $89 for up to two hours of work. There was a list of work that we would perform within the two hours. However, on this deal it was for up to two hours and not all items on that list. You choose what work you would like done and we supply the labor for up to two hours. In this case you choose caulking. We use a more expensive caulk that is close to $10 a tube in which we used 6 plus tubes on the job while working within the two hour time frame. After we were out and had completed two and half hours of work we were unable to complete the project. We made you aware of what it would cost to finish the rest. You were not happy that it wasn't finished and we had one of our reps stop back out to explain the deal and what we could do. We also had him bring a window expert from a supply company that has been in the window business for 25 years. They gave you all options on what you could do and where the problems lie. After those guys were out, our notes show that you were fine and that you were going to hold off on further work, but would be in touch. That you were satisfied with the work that they did complete. Your review states different and that is why I have tried to reach out to you numerous times now to understand what we could have done different on this $89 deal. In that year since we were at your property you have not called the office according to our calling system with the numbers provided and the notes on your file. We are unaware that you are still not happy and as a result have no way that we can respond. We have a special position at our company called the customer support command center. Check out the video on the home page of our site and you will see Randy who runs this. If anyone is unhappy that works with our company I drop everything to make sure that they are satisfied. Please, in the future communicate to us so that we can not only learn and grow from the experience, but also help you to walk away with what you need or wanted.
