We had Dan from Snap to completely re-do our exterior due to hail damage. I hired Snap after being bombarded with contractors in our neighborhood. Many didn't even have a presence on Angie's List. I decided on Snap after reading all the positive reviews. Dan came out and worked with our insurance adjuster to insure all issues were pointed out. He has a laid back professionalism that I know adjuster liked. Very different from other contractors that were aggressive in getting every last dollar from insurance. I didn't want that type of contractor when the adjuster came out. Work was done on siding and roof and Dan was great to work with with all my "ideas". (We added dormers) I think he would even agree we now have prettiest house on the block. He was great in recommending the right products. He suggested LP instead of Hardy but steered us towards Hardy on the shakes we had installed in the peaks. Still working with him and his crews to add some features to back garage and fencing.

To start out it was very hard to get an appointment. From what I understand they are very very busy due to all of the ice dam issues this winter. When I finally got a appointment the person that came out was A+++. He was very punctual and flexible with my work schedule. He was also very professional and knowledgeable. I have a unused roof vent that I wanted taken out and shingled over. I knew that that was not covered under the coupon but was told that the tech that came out would tell the office and they could send someone out. After a month i called the company to inquire on a appointment. I was told they are very busy and it would be awhile. I told them that is fine because I was able to temporarily patch it to stop the leaking. I have yet to hear from them and feel like because my job was a tiny job that they do not have interest in it. I understand they are busy but would at least like to have a date for a appointment even if it is far in the future. To sum up the tech was amazing and exceeded my expectations but the scheduling appointments could of improved.
Description of Work: Provider came to apply caulk to seal around chimmney and vents.

From the Owner: Hello (member name removed), we stopped doing handyman jobs as of May this last year. Our plan was to do these small jobs to get in front of people regardless if we made money or not. In the end the costs far out weighed the benefit as 1 out of 10 people started to complain about the work. We found it much more difficult to make people happy on small handyman jobs that we can't guarantee for many reasons. This became very costly as we are willing to go back as many times as it takes to make a customer happy. Most of the people were happy with the service. Others abused it. Those that abused it, hurt the company much more than the minimal word of mouth you get for doing a good job. However, since someone said they would get someone out there for you I will make that happen. We certainly don't walk away from something we said we will do. My name is Ryan and I am the owner of the company. Please email me directly at info@snapconstruction.com and I will get someone to help you. Thank you for your review

I found Snap Construction through Angies List back in March of this year. I was struck by the incredible POSITIVE AND OUTSTANDING reviews Snap Construction has. I live in an Association run Townhome complex that has had numerous unresolved Water Intrusion issues and problems for a long time. Right after I submitted my request, I immediately was contacted by Ron Hubler from Snap Construction. I can hardly even put into words what Ron has done to help not only myself but other homeowners in our large complex. He is one of the most honest and caring contractors that I have ever met in my life. Ron has gone above and beyond any humanly expectations one can have and has helped us find the resources we needed to get resolutions to these long time issues. These include construction defects from previous contractors our Management company and Board of Directors have not resolved for us homeowners. Ron has worked tirelessly for us and has been there every time we have needed him. After many years of getting nowhere, we now our on track to get these major issues resolved. We all credit Ron for his tenacity and "can do" honest approach to be on the road to resolutions of these issues. We are so grateful to Snap Construction and to Ron for doing everything to help us through this process. He has an incredible wealth of knowledge in the Constuction business and if he doesn't know something, he will find it out and get back to you right away. I have dealt with the Snap Construction workers and they have been very professional and know and do their job very well. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND This company and Ron Hubler for all of your roofing and insulation Needs And Issues. We are so grateful for Ron's help and recommend this company and hold them in the highest regard. Making that first call to Snap Construction was one of the best decisions I have ever made. All of us homeowners are looking forward to working with Ron and the Snap Team to do all of the work that now needs to be redone. THANK YOU RON AND SNAP CONSTRUCTION, you helped helped us get the resources to get resolutions to issues we thought would never happen.

On May 25 I bought an Angie?s List deal from Snap Construction for an attic and vent check with thermal imaging. Wanted to find out if we needed additional insulation. On May 27 I got an email from Snap through Angie?s List. I responded to the email and told them I?d be away all afternoon the next day (May 28) but would be available in the morning to schedule a time for the check. On May 28, no call in the morning but I did get a call in the afternoon while I was out. I was asked to call back. Called back at about 9:30 the next morning (May 29). Was given a menu of 5 items. One choice was to type in the first three letters of the person?s name. I pressed 5 and typed the first three letters of that person?s name. Got a message saying no such person at the company. Pressed O for the operator. Got another voice mailbox. Hung up and redialed. Chose 4 Sales, since that seemed the only likely choice. Got yet another voice mailbox. Left a message saying I?d be available all day for a call back. Got no call. Called at 7:15 the next morning (May 30). Chose 1 General Information. Got a minute of beautiful music, then was told I was first in line. After another 30 seconds I finally got a human voice. Of course I realized that at 7:15 am there was probably nobody in the office. From talking to the person who answered, it became obvious I was talking to an answering service. She took my info and said somebody would call me back as soon as they came in. Got a call back at 8:30 am (May 30) asking what I needed. I explained about my purchase on Angie?s List. The person took my info and said a scheduler would call to arrange a time for the service. Probably not until early next week. Got a call from Mike at 1:15 (June 2). He gave mea very good explanation of thermal imaging and said it doesn?t work well unless the temperatures are in the 50s or lower. I agreed to wait until the fall or until an unexpected cold snap before then. Got a call (voice mail) from Tom at 2:37 (June 19). He seemed unaware I had already set things up with Mike. One last thing. The day I bought (May 25) there were 2 days remaining on the special offer. Just for the heck of it, I decided to check again on May 30. I found the same offer. With 29 days remaining. I decided to cancel my order. Had a go-around with Angie?s List but finally got my money back. Also decided to submit a report. This is it. July 20. Checked Snap Construction?s special. 86° outside. 92° forecast for tomorrow. But they are offering the same special that is best performed in the 50s or lower. Eight days left in the special.

From the owner: Sorry for your experience. We do not have a Tom and I am sure that was your issue in trying to go through our phone bank the first time. You are correct that we do have an auto attendant service that answers are phones outside our business hours of 8-5. This is to be sure that all calls are answered and that we are made aware of all time sensitive messages immediately. We have been using smoke bottles and decompressing the home to find the leaks during the warmer months. If you look into our reviews those that have gotten the service are very happy with the results. We were again awarded another BPI cert for one of our guys doing the work. This is the highest certificate in the business. I am sorry that it didn't work out to get out to your home. We did try you a few times as well and couldn't get a hold of you. You were responded to within hours of sending your inbox messages every time.

Eric was great from the start. He and Mike arrived on time to give an estimate on our deck rebuild. We were hoping to use the existing frame and joists and rebuild a portion that was not up to code and falling apart. We were able to get exactly what we wanted down to the support/decorative post that my husband wanted. They were even flexible enough to work with our budget and allowed us to do most of the demo ourselves. They were thorough in their explanations and Eric knew exactly what to do. He worked diligently and respectfully cleaned up the area at the end of the day. We did not have problems with noise or garbage left behind (have had that problem with other contractors). Overall the craftsmanship is wonderful. We have received glowing compliments from friends, neighbors, and family. We knew that this would be an investment and wanted a top notch product. We could not be happier with the end result!

From the owner: Sad, but true story here. If you read deep into our reviews you will see that Eric was one that got a lot of praise. I talked to the homeowner that had notes on this and it all seems to add up that Eric did indeed no show three times. We have let Eric go and he will no longer be a part of our company. This sort of behavior is not tolerated at our business and as you can see from recent reviews this isn't the first time that Eric had these issues as of recent. We maintain a three strike policy and are one of the highest paying construction companies in the area to draw in the best possible talent. We have modified our discipline policy and will continue to as we find new ways to predict this sort of behavior with those we work with. We apologize to those that were affected by this.

After the long rough winter and severe spring storm we had some minor leaks through vents in the roof. This is also a new (to us) house so we wanted a professional to look it over. Eric from Snap came and did a once over of our roof. He took pictures of the vents and skylight. He caulked all of the openings to seal them up tight. Since he was here, we have had zero problems. He also took a look in our attic to see if he could see the cause of any of the leaks. He said everything looked fine. We did discuss a possible job in the fall of adding insulation and sealing the attic off from the living spaces. Very good experience overall. Thanks!

I exchanged several e-mails and phone calls with the company. They canceled the first appointment. I re-scheduled and they never came. I called and they said that they were at my house but at a different time. They came in the morning and appointment was in the afternoon. Company said that one person was in the property and that they should have left a paper. I never found the paper. I pointed out to the company that in the coupon says "HOMEOWNER MUST BE PRESENT AT THE TIME OF THE APPOINTMENT", what is more I had to re-scheduled twice and take time out of my work. Company called me yesterday about the reviewed grade I gave them.

Cannot Thank Eric and Snap Constuction enough. I live in Colorado but also own my house in SLP Minnesota. My roof was leaking and causing quite abit of damage in the upstairs bathroom. Since I could not get home to Minnesota before more Spring storms and torrential rains, I joined Angie's List for referrals on roofers. Because of the number of great reviews and the name of Eric from Snap Consruction, I decided to hire them to help me in my urgent situation. Not only did Eric respond to my phone call, I felt he made my house a priority. Eric kept in constant contact with me even though I was hundreds of miles apart , he gave me the reassurance that I needed to fix my roof. Eric responded to my many texts on his personal phone even though he was at home with his family. He made me feel like I was part of his family. So in closing, I cannot recommend Eric and Snap Construction highly enough. 5 out of 5 stars in my book. Professional from day one. Roof is fixed and not a trace of nails or shingles anywhere. They were very organized and well trained in their profession. Eric is the man you want to hire for a roofing need. You will not be disappointed. Susan Kragseth, Denver Colorado.

It took a while to get the meeting scheduled since Snap's lead inspector (who is Building and Performance Institute certified) was let go for some reason - I found this out after 10 days of no response and I had to ask them about the scheduling....the new person was their 'energy expert,' according to the correspondence. We had signed up for the $50 coupon that was supposed to get us an "Attic Thermal Imaging Energy Inspection" from Snap. I guess I had visions of infrared pictures of our attic, you know, thermal imaging, but that $50 only got me a guy on a ladder who poked his head up in the attic, estimated the depth of our existing insulation (he did use his phone flashlight to take some pictures from the ladder - I offered a really powerful flashlight to help see things, but he didn't need it), then estimated the square footage (by eye) and provided a quote. He said it was roughly 1,000 sq. ft. The quote included bringing insulation up to 20" average, and insulting specifically around al the ceiling openings like lighting fixtures and other vents - a good thing. But $2,750 was a bit steep, in my opinion. I know what insulation costs (I've blown insulation before), so the profit must be huge. I suppose I'll either do it myself with the help of some friends or use a less expensive quote. I learned something from the $50 spent, but did not receive any thermal imaging, that's for sure. I know there are a lot of positive comments on Snap, so I might be an outlier, but it was my experience, nonetheless.

From the owner: You are correct that we had let the person go that was working with you prior to your meeting. We did our best to contact everyone in our crm that was in his group of customers. It is not an excuse that you were missed and we apologize for that. The person you had out at your home is also BPI certified and he is in 100’s of attics every year. The quote you received didn't include just blowing in insulation. I agree the profit would be rather high if that is all we did. As he told you we would be insulating around all area's that have potential air leaks into your attic. That includes spray foaming these areas until they are air tight while decompressing the home with our blower door and using a smoke bottle to be sure all leaks are taken care of. Some of these areas, like the can lights you speak of, require us to build actual insulated boxes around them as you can’t lay insulation over the top of them. It also included attic chutes throughout the entire attic to protect the ventilation of the attic. Insulation is one of the most important upgrades to a home if done right. Simply blowing insulation into your attic can cause more harm than good. You have to be sure that you have the right count of venting throughout the soffit area and roof area to get the right amount of airflow. This is a calculation that is done on every job as well. You have to be sure that these areas are protected from the blown insulation and still able to perform properly. Air is lazy and will take the path of least resistance into the attic. It is important that all air leaks are discovered and taken care of so that you are not losing heat in the winter that causes ice dams. If done properly you can actually get a return on your investment and that is why we are passionate about insulation. We like upgrades for homeowners that save them money and this is one of them. You can certainly find people in town that will blow it in for less, however you fill find that your finish product won’t perform at its best. If you want an actual return and the project done right I would suggest anyone that is BPI certified and follows the above steps. Not only will you qualify for all the rebates as it was done by a BPI certified contractor you will also get a greater return on utility bills and reduced damage from ice dams.

I am selling my home and on very short notice, the buyer's FHA appraiser and lender required that my roof be inspected by a licensed roofing contractor. After calling multiple roofing companies and everyone being too busy, I called Snap (per recommendation of someone else) and Tyler Ganz, from Snap, found time to squeeze in my inspection. He walked up on the roof, assessed it, took photos, and then just a couple hours later, emailed me a letter talking about the condition of my roof and included photos. It was exactly what I needed done and I was very happy that Tyler was able to come out to my house on such short notice. I found both him and the other individuals I spoke with at Snap to be very helpful and professional.

Eric arrived right on time. He could tell right away that I had had hail damage. We talked a little about the estimated age and history of the roof before he got out his ladder and went up the roof. He reattached the 2 shingles that had come loose during a storm and took a close look to see how the roof was installed. He then took a look at the rest of the roof to make sure that there was no more damage, this included shingles, flashings and gutters. Eric was very thorough with everything and very easy to talk to. He gave me good information regarding future replacement. I would definitely use him again.

We wouldn?t recommend them. They first sent a salesman that told us the wrong info. We signed a contract, but when the workers came out, they said they couldn?t deliver on what the salesman promised. They?d also didn?t show up consistently --- we?d stay home and they wouldn?t show, or they would show up one day and not the next. I had also picked out a specific color for the door/window trim. When they put the siding, the workers left off the trim. The foreman said that the trim wasn?t in the contract ? and I specifically picked out a color that matched the siding. Snap forced me to pay more for the trim. We also had gutters put on. Snap spray painted the gutters in the grass, so we had spray painted grass. The subcontractors refused to put the gutters on because they looked so bad. We had Snap enclose our deck to a 3-season room. The salesman said that Snap did this type of thing, and the foreman said that Snap did not. We had to hire an architect ($400) to design the new room, and Snap hired someone else to do the work ? and my husband finished the inside. They had to put a roof on the room that they built, and they sent some guys out. However, not long after the guys came, the guys left. They were supposed to put a plastic over the roof but didn't, and it rained into our kitchen onto our cupboards. We had to keep hounding the company, who'd send the foreman out, who would then say that it was going to cost more money. They told us that they were going above and beyond for us, adding in all this extra stuff, in return for us promising that we'd write a positive review on Angie's List about them. Dealing with them absolutely ruined our summer. The workers also asked us to write a letter to the boss of the company because he was wondering why it was "costing the company money." They also didn't have a regular crew -- it seemed like they would grab workers off from a pool of workers. UPDATE: A lot of what the provider responded isn't true. First of all, it was the original salesman that gave us the quote for the job, and made promises that the manager later couldn't fulfil. We were taking out a home equity loan to pay for this project, and we even took out a bit extra. However, when Ron Hubler came out, we were told that they could not do the job for the price we agreed on, and it cost us most of our savings to get the job done. I did not have serious health issues, but did have surgery for a thyroid lump. And, my husband was NOT pleased with the way the job progressed, as they said. They NEVER contacted us once after they were paid in full, even though they left an ugly exhaust cap that should never have been left on the house. But, we were never asked about it. It doesn't exhaust anything and looks like an eyesore. Ron said he'd get us a new one, but the day we gave him the final check, he told us that he couldn't find one that size. Photo attached.

From the owner: The customer is right in being upset. The original project manager that got through our hiring process and fooled us all was fired midway on this job. His resume and references were fake. We have again modified our hiring process as a result. He originally bid the four season porch complete build to be 10k. We immediately took him off the job and apologized to the homeowners as he clearly did not know what he was doing. He did pass our tests on for component work and it is our fault we didn't test him on additions as he had supplied recommendations on past additions. Ron Hubler was later put on the job after we discovered this. He has managed many four season porch and addition projects for us. He let the homeowners know the process and got them in touch with an architect. He suggest to them that they use that person or someone else and pay for the plans themselves so that they could use it to get bids. They paid for their design that became their property. Ron put together an accurate bid off of this design and they accepted the bid. I like that Ron takes an honest stance on additions and has the homeowner pay for it up front so that they own the design and have the freedom to work from there in the way they choose. We are just here to win the business if we earn it. They were completely satisfied with Ron's bid and they choose us after the months lies they dealt with from our and their former project coordinator at our company. No one forced them to do a thing as far as payment on items. You write that we forced you to pay for trim that was not bid out on your contract. You have a copy of the contract and you can clearly see the upgraded trim options you wanted were not apart of this. At one point you were going to hire your own finish carpenter. As far as the different crews you speak of I have all time cards and receipts from your job. There was one general on the job the entire time. The issue with the gutters came up when we were behind in gutters and you needed them right away. We hired on firm to take care of that. They didn't come in the color you wanted and specified. That the original rep had told you that we have that color. That crew decided to paint them for you. Before you aware this had happened Ron was on site and told them immediately that wouldn't fly and made you aware of this. Ron immediately fired them and got the problem solved soon after. The issue is ours as this job started out to be a nightmare from the original field representative that was on it. It was why we suggested they buy the their own draft and design of the project in hopes they would find someone else to do the job. We have found over time that as soon as a company comes into question there is a small chance we can redeem that confidence. We feel for the homeowners for what happened in the beginning. In addition to that the lady of the house is having serious health issues and this added stress of the project didn't help that. When we talked to the husband he was very happy with our work. He wrote on the bill how it didn't start off the best, but after it was finished everything was great and loved every part of it. I am not sure what has happened since that time. I have made a phone call to see if there is something that we are missing and can help with to no avail. I don't see anything in regards to quality on here and didn't expect that as they told us they were extremely happy with it. We try to always be perfect and do our best. Not everything will be perfect, but we can guarantee that our response will be. If there is ever an issue our office receives calls 24 hours a day and we are more than happy to help those that took a chance on our company. We have a lifetime craftsmanship guarantee as we stand by our product. We can't control everything in construction no matter how hard we try, we can control our response and from what happened that day forward went well outside of the gutter issue that our quality control picked up on.

That's kind of a mixed deal. They did fine but they were out of place. They sent somebody back out a few weeks later but they said that it's too cold to repair that. I talked to somebody a week ago. The initial part of the service was good except that it wasn't complete and they didn't follow up as what they said they were going to. That's a reasonable price and maybe I would recommend them. They were very thorough the first time they came out and they came back out the second time and they were prompt. That was the positive side but then by winter, they forgot about it. I probably won't do business with them. They showed up when they said they would and they were professional.
Description of Work: They came out for the roof but they missed part of the roof.

From the owner: Thank you for your review. In our system it shows a few attempts were made via phone, but your voice mail was full. We resorted to text that wasn't being accepted and later moved to email that was going through, but not being answered back. Communication was tough on this one and we did what we could. Bruce, if you still need help we would be glad to help you. We just need a time and we will make it happen

energy audit
+ -1 more
I originally purchased the home energy audit via the deal they had advertised on Angie?s list. Then a few days later after all the heavy rains we had I scheduled a time for someone to also come out and give an estimate for a new roof and replacing windows (that were all leaking, they were long past due for replacement). The combination of events must have really confused the schedulers because I was called on 3 separate occasions to schedule a time for the roof/window bids, but everyone seemed to have forgotten about the energy audit I had already paid for. After talking with the last scheduler they assured me that a representative will be coming out to complete the audit and that they would also be able to give the bids for the roof and windows at the same time. Well, that did not happen. The sales representative came out and had no idea he was also supposed to be doing a home energy audit, so he took out the infrared camera and used it on just one level of our 3 level home and called it good, then took a little bit of time to poke around our attic where he determined we low on insulation and wrote up a bid for that. All that inspecting took about 10-20 minutes, then he sat out in his truck for another 15 minutes or so, then came in to talk windows. I had to back him up to say ?what about the rest of the things that are supposed to be included in the audit?? I showed him the advertisement for what I purchased, and he had to apologize stating he did not have the equipment needed to complete the audit, and that he would have to come back. He left after being at our house for about 40 minutes, nowhere near the 3-4 hours the ad indicated it would take. A week later he came back with a blower to do the blower test, determined that not only was our attic short on insulation but that we had a lot of air transfer there as well. Nothing else was done. So we paid $89 for a sales rep to spend a total of 40 minutes doing testing which included using the infrared gun used on one of our 3 levels and a blower test to determine air leakage in the attic. There was no write up of findings completed. We did not have the infrared used in the problem areas I was concerned about (the bedrooms in the upper level, the lower level where we seem to have some drafts); he did no testing of appliances, there was no testing for gas or other leaks, and we did NOT receive the energy performance report with any recommendations for improving our efficiency. In addition to all that, he spent a lot of time on his second visit pushing a certain set of windows that they were having a sale on, and then didn?t bother to provide any kind of written estimate for either the windows or roof till after I called and complained more than a week later. When I inquired about the warranty he responded with an email saying he was busy at another job site but to go to the window manufacturer page for more information. NO talk about the workmanship being covered by any warranty. The final straw, we didn?t get an estimate on our roof even after the multiple calls and emails. I am done trying to get any sort of result from Snap Construction. I will not be using them again.

From the owner: First, we are sorry for your experience. When you first sent out the notes in our system it was to look at windows and a roof. I am sure you mentioned that you bought the coupon for the energy audit as well. Since Brian has taken this over he has been able to get these audits done much faster. He apologized that day for not having the blower door and set up another appointment to get out there and perform those tests. You asked for a roof quote on a side by side home in which the owner of the other property was not willing to purchase on their side. We told you that our company will not do half a roof as there becomes a liability where the old meets the new that we can't take on. Just our policy and we don't recommend doing this. You asked for a window quote and that was given to you on the spot. You asked for a few other quotes that I have in the file for windows that were also given to you. As far as Brian being pushy I will have a talk with him. Brian has a calm demeanor and it is hard for me to see this sort of distaste in his approach. I know he is passionate about the window line that we have in and loves the energy savings along with it. For the money it can't be beat and I am sure you will find that as you get more quotes. We understand your frustrations with your neighbor not wanting to replace their side of the roof and putting your home in jeopardy of damage down the road from the age deterioration of the roof and we apologize that we can't help you. If you are not satisfied with the energy audit we would gladly help you with a refund. All you need to do is let us know. We are here to help in anyway we can. If you want to bounce quotes off of us and use someone else that is fine. I would gladly help you in the process.
