It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was fine. There were no additional charges.
Description of Work: They checked out the insulation in my attic and did some infrared to see if I had any leakage. They gave me ideas of what was good and what needed to be changed if I decided to do that.

The quote was fine but it was quite high. It was higher than I expected if I was to do the job. He said I really didn't need it so that's why I didn't do anything. It was all good and I didn't have any problem with it.

He was very professional, very courteous and did not try to sell me something I did not need but gave me his opinion of what he thought I should do. He was willing also to answer my questions on something that had nothing to do with the attic. A very pleasant experience.

I honestly can't say enough good things about Snap Construction; they truly went above and beyond with their excellent customer service and their ability to work with my insurance company to make sure that everything went smoothly. After this past year's brutal winter, I found myself stuck with a leaking porch ceiling and a roof that was in desperate need of repair/replacing - this is where Snap came in. From my very first phone call, I was impressed with their customer service and their knowledge about the repairs that needed to be done. Jeremy showed up on time to our first appointment, and he took the time to not only explain things thoroughly and answer all of my questions, but he even caulked up a gap in one of my window wrappings. Once Jeremy had outlined everything that needed to be done, he got to work communicating with my insurance company and making things as easy as possible on my end. Throughout the whole process, all that I had to do was to call the insurance company to schedule that initial adjustment; Jeremy took care of everything from there. When the insurance adjustor came to assess the damage to the roof, Jeremy met him at the house and ensured that everything that could be covered by insurance was, indeed, covered. Jeremy made sure that the insurance company did not slow down my claim, and he regularly communicated with them - even when the insurance company was being difficult to work with. When it came time to do the actual work on the roof, Jeremy and his crew were AWESOME! They showed up on time and worked hard the entire day to ensure that the roof was basically finished by the time I got home. Ultimately, it took two days to finish the roof because the entire house needed to be re-decked (Jeremy managed to get all of this additional work covered by insurance). The whole process was extremely easy, and the builders were incredibly conscientious of both my house and my schedule. Once the work was finished, they cleaned up everything - and I mean everything. Apart from the new roof, there was no sign that the work crew had even been at the house. They worked quickly and efficiently, and their work is absolutely amazing. The roof looks and works like a dream! If anybody needs any work done on their house, I would absolutely recommend Snap (and Jeremy). Their work is outstanding, their customer service in top-notch, and they really do go above and beyond to ensure that the whole process goes as smoothly as possible. I am thrilled to have found Snap, and I know that I will call them for any future work that I need done on the house!

I contacted Snap Construction through their website because of their great reviews on here. Jeremy called me back within a very reasonable time and set and appointment around my hectic schedule. During our initial phone conversation he was very polite and informative about questions I had about the insulation in my attic and the air leakage within my home. Jeremy arrived on time for our appointment, well prepared and ready to answer all of my additional questions. After looking in my attic and on my roof he sat down with me and gave me all of my option. The ending result of that meeting lead us to our second meeting which I had a blow test done to pinpoint exactly where I am loosing all of my heat in the winter. The problem- the insulation in my attic and two bay windows all of which Jeremy suspected from the beginning, but I wanted to see for myself. Thanks to Jeremy's knowledge and presentation of my option I will be hiring this company.
Description of Work: Proved not only one but two very informational meetings.

First and foremost we went with Snap because of the reviews on Angie's List - highly rated - which the only reviews were on roofs that had been completed. The roof crew was good, picked up after themselves, etc. The Snap Construction painting crew were clowns. Equipment breaking down, took more than four days to complete a small NE bungalow. The crew would show up and leave...never knew when they would be back. They kept indicating they were working on a "larger job" - our project cost $30,000 so I am not sure what they meant by that - I felt we weren't a priority. Also, I had to mark where I wanted them to go back over paint where they had missed, in fact the lead contractor asked me why I had left "blue tape" on the house...we told him to look closer so he could see what he'd missed. They started painting our trim and windows on our 90 year old bungalow and started painting all our windows shut - I spent 2 hours trying to undo what damage they had done. I told them to stop - all of our windows opened before they started and now they had painted 6 windows on the main floor of the house shut. Gutter and soffit crew were good - in fact extremely talented. Everything done by hand. Only complaint is we went out of town the day they were wrapping up and I found our garbage to be full of beer cans/bbq when we arrived home. I am guessing they had a party on our patio that evening. At least they cleaned up. Stone skirt - one guy did the job, turned out nice. Only problem is the truck driver who dropped off the stone drove up on our lawn after a rain and now we have two six inch giant tire marks going up our front lawn. Spoke to the general contractor regarding this and he said he would correct this and never has - I am guessing I will have to either fill in with soil and seed myself which will run probably $300 of my own money. The worst was when they started putting storm doors on our home - they didn't measure the doors correctly and the front storm door was six inches too short. Snap Construction had a solution to add a six inch board above the screen door to fill the gap. The best part about the front door not fitting was all our neighbors saw how stupid it looked on National Night Out - about 30 neighbors - so instead of getting the right size door they were just going to add a block of wood above it and paint it - DUMB - just dumb. At this point we were done with them and fired them. I would never use Snap Construction again nor would I recommend them to anyone. So, I am reluctantly sending off my final check we owe them to finally be done with them. Update 9-5-14: Ryan, the owner of SNAP construction called me this morning to talk through the issues we had with their work. He was very apologetic for the frustrations we had, and I do think that our issues were isolated - and that someone else might have a very different experience than we did. He certainly sounds like a dedicated business owner who is interested in maintaining a good reputation. He offered to do what he could to make it right with us, but we had already moved on to use different contractors to finish up the remaining parts of the project. A good lesson to anyone: I should have called the owner of the company immediately, rather than work with the general contractor that was assigned to our project.

From the owner, Ryan: [removed member name], I am sorry for your experience. I am and willing to do whatever it takes to make it right. I wish it had never gotten to the point it did. We have since implemented a new procedure to email and also mail a list of contacts internally with the company in the case there is ever an issue. It includes my cell phone number to be contacted at anytime. You are correct in assuming I am very dedicated to my business and its customers. I am glad that you thought we did a great job with your roof, metal work, and the stone outside the delivery company that ran the product through the yard. Our crews do not drink on the job. More than likely underage kids in your neighborhood choose that as their dumpster versus their parents to hide the fun they had. Drinking on the job results in instant termination at our business. After what you experienced with the painting and the door issues I would have assumed the same. It is also worth mentioning that the original door had to be rehung due to the awkward size and that Michael had already told him that wouldn't be an option once he was on site and saw it for himself. I did get confirmation today from the supplier that ruined the yard that you will get sod for those areas instead of them leveling it off with black dirt and seed. We stand behind our quality and should you ever need anything please reach out to us. Thank you

Went very well. Called Snap to come out and give me an estimate to do the insulation job. We have an attic with about 1000 square feet. Within a few hours Mike called me back to set up an appointment time. Within 2 days he was at the house and gave me an estimate for the attic. I had another estimate a while back even though Snap price was a little higher then the other company it didn't matter. From being musician for a while I know you have to pay little more to get a better product and service. The estimate was scheduled a few weeks out which I had no problem with. The crew showed up on time and was in and out in a few hours. The clean up was also spot on. I would recommend this company to anyone who wants to get a project done on time and with great customer service. I would defiantly use them again. They now have a customer for life.

The service went well. We told them that we were experiencing issues with the roof and knew it had to be replaced. They were four weeks out at the time and we were willing to wait considering the reputation and warranty offered by them. While waiting for our project to start the roof began to leak. They were able to bump us up a few weeks to get the roof on earlier to avoid any more potential damage to our units. We were thankful that they did that. I have been in real estate for 30 years and along the way have used the services of many different companies. I found snap to be responsive and attentive to my renters. The clean up was great and overall the roof looks great. I have a few other projects coming up that I look forward to trying them out on and will report back

At first I was impressed with Snap. They were not pushy, the price was good, and the salesman seemed professional. I even had other work quoted in case I liked the outcome of the install. But then came the install. I do not like to leave bad reviews but this is an exception. After the installation of the new replacement windows, I found the old screws from the previous windows sitting next to the basement windows, caulking around the windows was horrible, not sealed, two different colors were used, on the main picture window, they left two holes from where part of the old window frame was on the outside on the main part of the trim and just covered it up with foam leaving it exposed to the outside (Have photos). They came back and put a piece of aluminum to cover up the exposed wood which was horrible. They said to call back and get a quote for wrapping the windows and that maybe I could get a price reduction. That didn't happen, was the same price as quoted before. Then they said that they would come back to redo the caulking, and that never happened either. There is more to complain about but I think this is enough said. At this time, I would not recommend Snap Construction to anyone. I guess you get what you pay for and no more.

Matt, the sales guy from Snap Construction, was on time, professional, and pleasant to work with. But the attic inspection was not what I expected. He stuck his head up in the attic for about two minutes and that was it, and then wrote up an estimate for improving the insulation and ventilation. After the fact, it struck me that I just paid $49 to get an estimate to get work done. Plus the estimate seemed high, although to be fair I have not gotten any other estimates. I enjoyed working with Matt and have nothing against Snap, but I wonder if I could have had the same thing done at no cost by calling them and asking them to come out and give an estimate for work.

We purchased an Angie's List deal and it took a while for them to reply to us but once the salesman came to our home we thought he was an honest and good guy, not a car salesman which we had already seen plenty of. Once we decided to go with them it seemed like he wasn't sure exactly what we ordered even though everything had been written down in a contract. Contacted us a few times and came back to the house to verify details. They didn't start the week they were supposed to so they came in the following week - I was a little bummed because we had a large group of company coming and I knew there would be clean-up after they were gone plus putting back all of the window coverings. We were told it would take 2 days to complete but in the end it took 5-6 days to complete and they finished the day before company arrived. The installation person couldn't have been nicer but I had sent a note to Snap Construction that I was disappointed they had one person working most days on this project and it had run well over the time we were given - I thought it was poor customer service that they did not call or email me back when they knew I was not happy. Their pricing was very fair but I am not sure I would use them again based on poor communication and organization.

From the owner: Thank you for the complement on how the sales process was handled. You are right that we are not pushy. I am sorry to hear of your disappointment with the rest of it. Your job was originally sold by a person who no longer works here. Since we have no record of you calling into our office I would assume you were calling him and he wasn't returning your phone calls. One of the many complaints we would get from customers when he was on the job. We really wish you would have called into the office with your concerns. We have since changes procedures internally when transitioning out a field rep to make it more seamless and to be sure all notes are accurate in the file.

**Update** Ryan the owner of Snap construction contacted me via voice mail and left a very sincere apology for the problem that happened when the salesman who I worked with (Jim) abruptly left the company and left them with a mess. I feel like my latest experience with SNAP is likely an anomaly surrounding this one bad departure. Since the quality of SNAP's work on the window installation was very good, I'm very happy with the windows themselves and the crew that did the work was stellar, I am going to upgrade their rating from a D to a B and say I will likely give them one more chance in the future. My original review is below for reference: ------------------- I first contacted Snap in early May, 2014. I had worked with them last year on a roof repair and they did a really good job, so I wanted to to use them again for a smallish window project I had (replacement of two windows). I spoke with Jim McGannon and he came out on My 12th for a quote. The first hint at trouble was at that visit. Jim was about an hour late and did not call. When he got here, he came to the door and we talked for a moment after which he asked where the attic was. I said I can show you, but I'm not sure what that has to do with windows. Jim asked very surprised. He said his notes said I wanted an attic inspection, but "luckily for me, he had his window sales kit in the truck." Jim then went back to the truck and got his window kit. I showed him the two windows, he measured and showed us the Richline Windows they use. He quoted $1200 per window which I thought was a bit high, but in range...Since they did a good job last year, I went with the offer and put 50% down. He said someone would be in contact with me to do a "formal measure" so that the windows could be ordered. He said it usually took a while to get the windows in, but I should expect something around the 20th of June. The person came to measure 2 1/2 weeks later and was pleasant.. After this I noticed they cashed my down payment check so I assumed the windows were on order and things would be moving on in a month. June 20th came and went and I didn't hear anything. I waited another month and didn't hear anything, so I called. When I called I was greeted with the most un-user friendly auto-routing voice mail system I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. During my dealings with Snap I had to call a number of times and each time I hated this system more. In any case, when I finally got to a real person, they looked up my information and said "Oh, you worked with Jim McGannon" I'll have someone call you back "Right away, before 4:00 today." Well no one called until the next day (not great service, but forgivable) I spoke with Beth who didn't have any idea what my issue was (apparently the person I spoke to the day before didn't fill her in on anything) so I went through the whole narrative again. She then asked "Did we order the windows for you?" I said I hoped so, since I already gave you $1200 for them. She apologized and said that Jim had abruptly left the company and left things in a mess. She would track down what happened and get back to me. Beth did get back to me fairly quickly. She said she had located both of my windows and they were ready for installation, when did I want them to come over to do the work. I was pleasantly surprised! I said I was off work on Thursday and anytime then would be great (it was Monday or Tuesday). Beth said she would get in touch with the production manager, but Thursday would be fine unless I heard from her. Thursday came and went, and no one showed up. I called Beth back on Friday and she was clearly displeased with the window installers. She said Dan would get back to me before the end of the day to schedule. Dan never called. On the following Monday I called Beth back and asked for my $1200 back. I told her I had given up on them and was just done. She apologised and said if I really wanted to do that, she would have to "look up the process and get back to me." Beth called back less than 30 minutes later and said if I was really sure I wanted my money back, she could do that, but the process was rather "involved". I told her that I was done and she should go through the process to get my money back. She said she would forward it on to Kim, Tyler or Ryan who would be in touch with me shortly. Tyler called within the hour. When we talked he was very apologetic and promised that if I would let them, he could have someone out the next day to put them in (Tuesday). He even offered a discount-- or dinner for my wife and I --if I would give them a chance. Being I really wanted the windows, I said yes. He told me Brad would be there between 11 and 2 the next day. At 1:58 (just under the wire where I wasn't going to allow the installers in) they showed up. The crew that did the installation was professional, dealt well with my toddler aged children (allowing them to feel they were helping) and did a really decent job. The windows themselves are very nice and overall I'm happy with that part of the project. A few days ago I received the bill. It was for the full $1200. No discount or "dinner for my troubles" or anything like that. Its fine. I'll pay the agreed to price, but it is yet another in a long string of disappointments in Snap with this project. Overall Snap seems a little off their game from a "front office" standpoint. They make promises that they don't follow through on, appear to have no processes in place for dealing with a salesman quitting and have a horrible phone system. While their workmanship was good, the rest was painful. I'm not sure I would use them again. Probably not.
Description of Work: Replace two double hung windows on the second floor of our house.

From the Owner: [Member Name Removed], I am sorry for your experience. We do have systems in place in the case someone leaves or is terminated, however Jim's situation was unique and that system failed in this situation. At the time his situation was unique in that he was also project managing his projects. His notes read differently from what he had told you. I am sorry for your experiences with our phone system. There is a simply greeting and four options. I am not sure how I could make that much easier to use, but we will look into it. Thank you for letting us know about your experience so that we can better our company. Our craftsmanship is first priority and glad that you saw our great craftsmanship. We are sorry for your experience with your phone system and the mix up that happened when we parted ways with Jim. If you look into our history of reviews we did not have the best luck on our transition with him as there are a few other complaints. In all cases we stepped up to the plate and got the issues rectified immediately. It is something that we have learned from and put other systems in place to make smoother. We are not perfect and we are always willing to learn to improve the customers experience. Thank you for your review

It was fine but I was expecting an attic thermal inspection and finding out that they cannot do that until winter season.

The service went very well. I found out I had hardly any insulation in the attic. They ended up installing insulation and sealing everything up for me. The crew did a nice job and completed the service in about a few hours. The technicians were very efficient and prompt. They were good at letting me know what exactly was going on. I had no problem scheduling the service.
Description of Work: I purchased a deal for an Attic Inspection, Plus an Insulation and Ventilation Analysis.

The quality of the work was exceptional. Even better than I imagined it would be. My only critique is that the process to get the bid took quite a bit longer than it seemed necessary. We went for about a week without any kind of response. I know they were busy but just some sort of communication that they hadn't forgot about me would have been sufficient. However, once we got past that part everything else was awesome. The project was done on time, it looked great and the team kept the work site clean.
Description of Work: Snap Construction did a roof replacement, where they removed our existing deck, tar and gravel off our flat roof. They built a newly insulated rubber roof with a new railing.

From the owner: Thank you for working with us and thank you for your patience. We have grown faster than expected and have experienced some growing pains. We have learned that we need a better communication tool and have recently started experimenting with one to help us keep everything organized. We are sorry that it took so long to get the estimate. Glad you like the work! We will keep working to improve communication. Have a great rest of your summer.

They arrived on time and did the work as agreed upon. We were concerned about our roof/chimney area and they spent extra time on that area which met our goals.
Description of Work: They did a comprehensive roof check.
