Todd and his people, and sub-contractors, in particular Andy Randolph who was on site daily, did an amazing job. They were extremely thoughtful about the history of the house, and integrating the new work with the historic elements around it -- but which was also challenging because the kitchen had been remodeled by a previous owner in a more-modern style. The work required working around radiator pipes and some antiquated electrical elements to put it all together, but they managed to fit everything in, sometimes quite creatively, and maintain the integrity of the overall house and surrounding rooms. I'll explain that the only thing I gave a somewhat lower grade on is price. The price was absolutely fair for what they did, and they had helpful financing options, so I don't mean that grade to suggest anything negative. But at least for me on these things, it's important to know up front that they were not the low-cost option, I had other bids that were substantially lower. In this case, I developed a comfort level in talking with Todd, more so than other providers, that he would do a higher quality job and respect the historic nature of the space, which they did. If you're willing to spend a little more for confidence in higher quality work, then I certainly recommend them highly.
Description of Work: We have a 100-year-old house in S.Mpls., and wanted our kitchen opened up into the adjacent room, to create more space. We worked with Todd Ganz and his team to design a lunch bar counter to bridge the space between the two rooms. It involved cutting a door into a wider space, and re-purposing some granite from cabinets in the dining room to create a new counter harmonious with the kitchen.

He called me once and left me a voice mail message that I should call him back to set a time for him to come to my home to conduct the inspection. I did and we had to set a time on the weekend because he was so busy. I agreed although that wasn't to my liking. He never showed up. I tried again to set an appointment with him, Eric was his name, and got the same run around about calling him later to set up the appointment. At this point I stopped trying to communicate with them.

Response from Snap Construction Inc
From the owner: We are sorry to hear of your experience. I reached out to you a few days ago via text and voice mail letting you know that this was the first we had heard of this and we are extremely sorry. I offered free service from our best technician to see if we can help you trouble shoot your issues. I haven't heard back and would still like to help you. I indicated in both messages I don't care for you to change the review, only to allow us an opportunity to do right by you. I would still like that opportunity. This was a bad hire on our part. We took a chance on someone we shouldn't and someone that no longer works here. It was extremely costly on our reviews after he took on a few dozen of these jobs. Our company cares about each and every customer and encourage people to call the office should they ever have an issue with our service so that we can be aware and rectify the situation immediately.

The project went great. We were worried about inviting a construction scene into our home right after we moved in, but figured it was best to get it out of the way and start enjoying the renovations. The hardwood floors were damaged from the previous owners larger pets and the carpet needed replacing. The walls also needed new paint and a fresh look. Those were are immediate concerns. However, after inviting Snap in we decided to dig into the rest of the projects we had on our list to just get it all over with. We have other friends in the building and wanted to create something that was unique since most of the units look the same. We had them rearrange the cabinets and add a built in wine fridge that looks great. The new cabinets looks and perform great, we love the automatic soft close drawer slides and soft close hinges on the cabinets. The hood was custom built of stainless steel from a local artist they have a connection with and looks really good. It is hard to explain, but looks as though it was a factory finished piece until you get close and realize the work that went into it. We had them install new counter tops as well that have charging units built in for cell phones. The 1.5 bath was a complete overall. This was the one disappointing place when we first bought our home and where they really cut corners. There wasn't a lot of room for creativity in there so we went with a really clean look with an all glass shower, new vanity, and tile throughout. All in all I think they did a great job. Communication was great and helped us both to stay at ease. They also did a good job cleaning up each night. The only issue was an area that needed to be repainted that we noticed some flaws in after the finish. They came right out no questions asked and repainted it and felt compelled to write them a good review for the excellent service. Too often people just want to talk about the bad, so thanks!

The person in charge of the installation came with the crew. The crew weren't able to work properly in the small crawl space so the job was canceled. I received a refund check for the down payment. I would have appreciated a more realistic look at the situation before the wheels were set in motion.
Description of Work: I purchased a deal from Angie's List to check the quality of our insulation. The area that we were focused on was a crawl space above the garage ceiling below the master bath/bedroom. Kip put together an estimate, was confident the insulation would work, collected a down payment and scheduled a date for service. Cost of the job would have been $3,000+.

The service did not go as well as I had hoped. I was really hoping they would come out with an infrared unit to be able to look at the attic space but they did not. They actually did not do too much. One technician came out. I did not meet with him personally. I had no problem scheduling the deal and they came out a few weeks after I purchased the service.

From the owner: This was an insulation inspection. Matt checked everthing in the attic and found what he had was adequate. The homeowner than asked him about a concern on his roof. Matt took it upon himself to go outside the deal and also onto a roof in winter. He clearned the snow in this area and Matt gave him his thoughts. After that Matt told him since he can't take advantage of the deal he is welcome to a refund. The gentleman seemed fine at the time. Not sure what else we could do. If there is we would like to know and always willing to change our process to follow through with expectations.

The company did a fairly good job of communicating, but I do wish that they would have given to us a written report of the roof's problems as well as what repairs they made. Furthermore, the crew was friendly and professional, they showed on time, and they fulfilled their part of the deal as promised.

The best thing about my experience with Snap was the customer service. I called them when my ceiling was literally raining ... they came over within a day for an estimate and squeezed us into the schedule within a week after that when everyone else was quoting weeks and even months leadtime. Brian even made a point of working with my insurance agent - though insurance didn't cover it in the end, I was still grateful for the effort. Brian estimated the work for 1200ft2 would take about 4 hours and the crew was within minutes of that estimate. I would highly recommend Brian and his crew to anyone looking for attic insulation.

This is an update to an earlier review we gave Snap in which we didn't think that they completed all the work requested. After a follow up email and a visit by Brian, who inspected the job that was done, and showed me the work done, I must say they were very prompt to address our concerns about the job. One thing that was lacking was follow up upon completion of the job to ask if we had any concerns. Other than that, we are happy with the job done.

Brian and his crew came to my house on the coldest day in MN history and insulated my attic. The guys were so polite and courteous while completing my job. They even wanted me to come up in the attic to see what they had done. After they were done, they brought out a shop vac to clean up any of the insulation that might have gotten anywhere it wasn't supposed to be. Whey that was done, Brian made a point to offer that they would be available if I had any additional concerns.

Evaluation showed adequate insulation in the house attic - adding more would not have an economic payback. Gave an estimate for adding insulation in the garage ceiling where there was none - I had insulated the garage ceiling but missed some areas covered with the code-required firewall sheetrock. Because no attic insulation work was needed he said I could apply for a refund from Angies LIst for the $49 price paid.

Nice people throughout the process. As expected, they were prompt, courteous, and cleaned up afterwards. They even took photos of the attic, since we can no longer see up there. Frankly, they made this big job look easy; that is the biggest compliment that I can give Snap Construction, eH? If I would have tried to do it myself, I would have had to rent the proper equipment, guess at the amount of fiberglass needed, struggle through the actual process, AND Not be eligible for the Energy Rebate. Sincerely, Tom J. Gudaitis, a very satisfied Customer
Description of Work: As part of the Angie's List deal, the Estimator Matt started off with a free attic inspection for airflow/insulation. Vermiculite (an asbestos compound) from the 50s house was present, but calling for expert assistance from Brian the Inspector, judged it safe because an R15 layer of pink batten covered it. The office scheduler handled our request well. She was helpful and gracious. A team of 2 technicians blew fiberglass insulation to R60 value; sealed light fixture; insulated the attic door access. Hard workers, they handled the big job with alacrity & professionalism, happy to service our home. Inspector did a before & after front door house decompression test; they are taking care of sending in the $500 rebate form to Excel Energy, which must be sent in before the end of the year. Brian rightly thought that their testing apparatus might blow the pilot light, resetting it each time. (One negative; he forgot to reset the water heater gas vale to ON from PILOT. I had cold water the next morning, until I figured out what was wrong.)

It turned out good. I had no extra charges and the guy was really nice and super helpful. Sometimes they can try to upsell you, sell you a new roof and all those extra things. He was really honest and told us that our roof was really in great shape. He took care of some things that he thought that needed to be tucked down. He suggested that piece of the skylight and not utilize. The $99 deal was awesome to inspect our whole roof.
