Roofers showed up at exactly 7:30 as scheduled. Team was on the roof before 8am. Ran into a few hiccups and (old house, always a surprise lurking) but everything was communicated clearly and promptly to me, including the change order that needed my approval. Roofers worked well together and did a great job cleaning up as they went. A small piece of siding needed to be replaced so the flashing would be correct. The roofers got the materials needed and the project manager personally went and picked up matching house paint so everything would look right.Roofers did a great job picking up all the metal from the yard and trash. The project manager was doing a final sweep of the yard for "little stuff" after the rest of the crew had left for the day. Important for us, and very appreciated, because we have three dogs. Roof work took just over one day. Gutters were installed by a different crew, they came the next week. I wasn't home, but everything looks great and they didn't leave any mess behind.
Description of Work: Partial replacement of decking in house roof. New shingles on house and large shed. New gutters on house and shed.

I found Snap via Angie's list and had them (as well as 4 other contractors) come out to take a look at the roof after the hail storm. Of the contractors, Matt (the project manager) was the most thorough and explained the damage he saw. He did a great job explaining how the insurance process works and how Snap would work with me to get everything repaired. I had never filed an insurance claim before, so their knowledge in this area was very helpful. When the insurance adjuster came out, Matt and Dan (the roofing expert) met them at the house and did a very thorough walk through with the insurance adjuster. They pointed out all the other issues they saw - in addition to the roof damage - and answered all the questions the adjuster (and I) had. Once insurance agreed to the repairs, scheduling the replacement roof was easy. The work started very early (around 6:15am) and was nearly completed by the time I returned home that afternoon (around 5:00pm). As I walked around the house, I noticed a few issues with the new roof - the roofers had forgot to re-install a ridge vent on a portion of the house, the heat cables were not installed correctly, and the flashing around one of the dormers was not installed. I called Matt and he met me at the house later that evening. I had pictures of the old roof - so I could prove the new one was not installed correctly - and Matt called the roofer up and had them come back later that week to correct the issue. Snap did a GREAT job documenting the repair process, which made the inspection process easy. The roofing inspection was very simple and the city inspector signed off without question. The pricing was strange. Since the roof was being replaced via an insurance claim, I never got a cost, ahead of time. Rather, I was told "the cost of the replacement is what insurance pays" - or something similar to that. They explained that adjusters use a program and based on the cost of materials and other factors, they come up with a replacement value. Whatever the replacement value is, is what you end up paying. Kind of strange to me - the up front opaqueness is why I rated them a C. Had insurance not been covering the cost, I likely would not have gone with them - but since insurance was covering the cost (minus the deductible), I decided to go with the company I felt was the most professional / responsive. Had the process ended here - I would have given them an A rating. Unfortunately, a few months later (around thanksgiving) I noticed a leak in the roof. There were water spots showing up on the ceiling in the upper level of the house. I got in contact with Matt - as he had been the point of contact - and he referred me to Charity, who works in the office. She called the roofer and said he would be out after thanksgiving. When he met me at the house, he climbed up on the roof and couldn't find anything visibly wrong. He noted the area where the water is getting in was near the chimney and also at the intersection of the ridge vent and a valley (aka pretty complex). He came inside and saw the discoloration on the ceiling - and also checked to see if he could feel the water coming in. He could not. Since it was so late in the season we agreed to wait until spring to try to repair it. I contacted Charity at the front office, who got into contact with Dan (the roofing expert) who promptly called me. He said he would let the roofers know about the issue - but I have yet to hear back about when they are going to be out to the house to attempt to find the issue. I have been thoroughly impressed with everyone I have interacted with at Snap. Their responses are timely and their employees are extremely professional. My overall C rating is mainly due to the currently leaking roof, the lack of communication / firm date for repair.

We are still working on the siding and windows and will update at that time. So far the service has been great and Dave has been wonderful to work with. The roofing was fast, clean, and he upgraded me to a stronger shingle that will reduce my insurance rates.

Overall job went great. We upgraded to lp smartside on the siding and couldn't be happier. The home looks great and turned out to be a much better option than vinyl. The crews were clean and did a great job. Roof looks great and the insulation did help. Although we had a mild winter, during the one thaw we had with snow on the roof our home didn't get any ice dams. Overall a great experience and most likely will have them do our deck next.

The short version is this: The work Snap did on my home (roof, siding, windows) was good but their professionalism and customer service is appalling. I will never do business with them again and I hope you never do either. Here's a brief list of the crap I endured in what should've been a simple job: 1. First sales guy they sent was running his own side business so his focus was never on my needs. 2. They fired that guy through me, they notified me he was fired but not him. He called me to schedule work and I had to tell him to call his boss and get fired. Totally unprofessional. 3. I told the next guy how crappy that was and to convey that message to Ryan, the owner. Never heard a thing from Ryan, no apology. 4. My siding sample that was supposedly sent to a matching lab in Florida never made it there, so after waiting months for new siding we had to do it again. 5. I was told the roofers would remove my old antenna from the house. They didn't. Was then told the siding guys would. They didn't. Was then told the gutter guys would. They didn't. My job is now finished and that thing is still up there. 6. Weeks would go by with no communication on scheduling. We were clearly a bottom priority. The hail that damaged our home was in June and our didn't get done until mid February. Insane. Every other house in the area was done months ago. 7. When they did decide to do our siding they didn't notify us. One day a guy showed up to apologize because they were supposed to start that day but couldn't because they'd crashed their truck(great sign, right?). Nobody had mentioned anything to me about the siding being done that week, so if they had started all my pictures would have still been hanging on the walls. 8. They left my yard and driveway filled with debris and nails. As the snow melts I have to periodically go out and pick up DOZENS of nails so my dog and/or child don't get hurt and/or we don't puncture our tires. This is *after* I complained to them several times about all the nails being left around and one of their guys did his own pass picking them up. 9. They continually botched the info sent to my insurance company. They forgot to mention the gutters at all. Once that was approved I realized they forgot to include my shed. There were a couple others as well but it's been nearly six months since this started and I forget some details. 10. The hail knocked a chunk of our chimney off. The insurance inspector saw this and took pictures and I talked to Snap about the repair. I didn't find out until now (6 months into the job after everything else is done) that it wasn't approved by insurance and I'm so tired of dealing with Snap I'm not even going to pursue it. 11. The entire time they're screwing all of those things up I am deluged with marketing emails from them including, and I swear this is true, an email from the owner's wife on what fancy restaurant she likes. Literally rubbing in how they're spending the money I'm paying them to drag their feet, not fill their promises, and leave my yard full of nails. There's so many other things I've forgotten over the long period this has taken but I hope that's enough to convince you that you must take your business elsewhere. I was fooled by their high ratings on Angie's list. Don't make the same mistake.

The rep was delayed in getting to our house due to unforeseen traffic issues but kept in close contact by phone so there were no surprises. When he arrived he immediately went to work and assessed the problem area (ice dam over our front door.) He not only talked about the exact trouble spot, but assessed the entire roof, fascia, venting, and insulation throughout the entire house. He educated me on building code and standards, differences in types of materials used, and the importance of air flow in attic space. He shared several options I could do myself to remedy the ice dam, and discussed energy efficiency, savings on heating and cooling costs, and tax implications of doing energy-efficiency related work on the house. Extremely informed, excellent communicator, polite and professional. I did not feel pressured to have further service at this time, but if/when I need it I will definitely call Snap. Well worth the money to get this level of assessment, and a $500 credit waiting if/when I choose to increase my attic insulation. HIGHLY recommend.
Description of Work: Came to house, evaluated ice dam situation, assessed overall insulation, quality of roofing, made suggestions, offered tips and advice. Issued credit for future insulation work.

For this service, I have had three separate visits from the provider: 1. 10/30/2015 for the actual installation. No issues there, Brian and his crew were here on time and the job was done in four hours. Because I had A/C units in the windows, I needed to remove those before he could do a blower-door test. What I didn't know, because I'm not savvy with this stuff, is that the attic hatch installation wasn't done. 2. 12/7/2015 for the blower door test. No issues here, Brian was punctual and did the job quickly. After the test was done, I asked him to email me the results. I never received that email. 3. 12/16/2015 for the attic hatch insulation install. The scheduled time was 9:00 AM in which I planned my whole day around. At 10, when I had not received a call and no one had arrived, I called Brian. He was having crew issues, they were a bit behind, and wanted to know if the afternoon would work. It wouldn't which I communicated and he came out at 11 and did the install himself. The reasons for my grade and review are twofold: - First, I don't think it is appropriate that I should have had to wait until mid-December to get everything that was originally in the contract. I also think the amount of managing I have had to do in this project is a little silly. I had to seek out the other part of the invoice so I could pay the whole bill, had to follow-up when we didn't get the blower-door numbers, then follow up on a rebate form. That's not my job as a customer! - Secondly, and the biggest issue for me, is that I have been trying to do the rebate paperwork for the Xcel energy rebate since the job was first done. I thought originally that the blower-door test needed to be done, turns out this is not the case. Then I was informed by their office after the job was done (12/16) that they would submit the paperwork and have it returned to me by the end of the week (a 12/18 deadline). That was not done which required a follow-up call by myself to the office. Today, 12/22, I find out that I can't submit the paperwork, that it has to be done by the Contractors themselves. AND, to add insult in injury, the gal at the office (who was very nice) told me that he typically doesn't get to it until the last week of the year since the forms are not due until 12/30. I know it's just $300 but we are a young couple starting out, saved up for a while to have the insulation install done, and could really use that money. Why could the forms not be completed in early November when the job was essentially complete? I think delaying paperwork that represents real dollars to your customers is also doing a disservice to your clientele. The whole debacle really did not make me feel valued as a customer. We bought a house with a lot of upgrades needed and are already saving for the next big project. I was hoping to use the same contractors but now I will not be using the company again. We also are planning a giant kitchen remodel - that is real lost business. I will say that every time I have spoken or interacted with Brian or anyone from Snap, they have been very polite and friendly. That really has what has kept me from writing a review so long but after being disappointed again, I felt it necessary to let the community know what they will be getting into. Perhaps our job was just too small to warrant better service? I can't really say.

Dan came during a rain to look at roof. He "could not do anything in the rain." I asked if he would return and he said he could or I could get a refund. I explained I just purchased the house and had a leak in a specific spot. He agreed to return and do some work. I called Snap after a couple of weeks to see if he was returning or if I should get a refund. He did return and applied some caulk along a seam in the vicinity of the leak. I find that often the Special deals turn out to not be so special. "Roof maintainence" listed in the offer sounded more comprehensive and I had purchased a new house and discovered I had issues with the roof. I was hoping the deal would assure I could make it through the winter. The "repair" was minor but restricted to the one area.

We just moved into a house we purchased and were told we had about 3-5 years before we needed a new roof. Since we were close to needing a new roof, we wanted a more detailed inspection than the general inspection done at the time of purchasing the home in case there were details missed. Matt came out to do an initial inspection and pointed out some areas of concern and also that we had shingles that shouldn't be as deteriorated as they were for the age. He suggested that we try to track down the manufacturer and see about getting that covered. We happened to have leftover shingles from the previous home owner and they replaced some of the really bad ones during the $99 inspection process at no addt'l charge. They also made other quick caulking fixes as well. In the end, he advised that we get a new roof within a couple years. The customer services, response and timeliness was great. That's hard to come by from some contractors!

($3500 or more) I declined from hiring the company to do more research. I then had 4 more contractors to inspect the issue. Everyone of them said I didn't have a black mold issue. I chose a contractor for installation of insulation with quote at $1200.00. Based on the fact the original contractor's obvious dishonest approach for business I would not refer anyone to this company.

Response from Snap Construction Inc
From the owner: This customer wanted $500 worth of insulation and nothing more. The person that was in the attic and looked at this has been in the business for almost 20 years. He told you that your rafters have the beginning stages of mold. I would urge you to buy a mold kit and take a sample and send it in. You may find you were told what you wanted to hear. I would be sure they are BPI certified and that they are on the preferred list of your energy provider. The reason that your attic has been damp is due to the difference in temperature on both sides of your decking inside/outside. Insulation will help to slow this down, and the biggest help will be proper air exchange. Good luck!

"Big Deal" advertisement states, "$99 for $500 Worth of Insulation plus Energy Rebates from Snap Construction." That seemed a bit too good to be true so I called them and asked for specifics before I purchased the deal. I asked if they were really blowing in $500 worth of insulation for a flat $99. The receptionist I spoke with was polite and courteous, and said that customers have to buy a minimum of $1500 worth of insulation to get $400 off ($500 off minus the $99 deal fee). I alerted her to the fact that nowhere on the deal page does it mention the minimum $1500 purchase requirement; not in the deal specifics nor the fine print. In fact, here's the complete wording: This Offer Includes: Here's the Deal: $99.00 for $500.00 worth of insulation plus energy rebates from Snap Construction Inspect your attic space and other areas of inefficiencies. These inefficiencies lead to higher than normal energy bills year round along with ice dams in the winter. Let you know the findings and give you an estimate based on the findings. The process includes finding all air leaks and sealing them. The next step in the attic is to be sure that there is proper ventilation to cycle out stagnate air and keep the temperature difference from the inside of the attic to the outside air as close as possible to reduce the risk of mold and early break down of your roofing components. Lay a layer of insulation to a depth of 20? aka R60 which is slightly above current code suggestions. Customers can expect to save anywhere from 10-35% on their energy bills dependent on the current state of the home. Use of fire and mold resistant fiberglass insulation that is formaldehyde free keeping your family safe and cozy. Rebates: Snap Construction is a preferred energy contractor of all major utility companies in the metro. The current rebate structure dependent on the upgrades will allow for a rebate of an additional $300-$2150. The Real Deal: Properly insulating your house is essential for many reasons, including ventilating your home and saving on energy costs. Use this offer to get aid from the professionals for less! The Fine Print: Deal must be purchased through Angie's List to be eligible for discount Not valid for cash back Deal cannot be combined with other specials or offers Deal cannot be applied to current or past jobs Deal is for residential service only Appointments are to be performed during normal business hours Limit one deal per person/household Only valid for existing homes and not new construction Image may not reflect exact product/service 30-Day Refund Guarantee Promotional value expires six months after purchase; paid value never expires Regardless of whether Snap wrote the wording of the deal or Angie's List did, the 'deal' is a classic bait and switch. I said as much to the receptionist and suggested that the wording be changed. I didn't buy the deal, but I'm leaving this 'F" review so that other potential customers of this 'deal' won't get bait and switch'd. The "F" for professionalism reflects that that bait and switch is never professional, and is not a reflection on the receptionists I spoke with who was very professional.

Response from Snap Construction Inc
From the owner: This is unfortunate. There is no bate and switch and you have simply have to read instead of calling around to see if you can find an issue with a coupon and hurt a companies rating right after. There is no $1500 dollar minimum, however the average upgrade is close to 1500 after all rebates. Due to state code we can't do $500 dollars of work in your attic. It would be extremely rare that we would be able to take care of the required air sealing and insulation in your attic for $500. The deal is a fantastic deal for those that buy it. Look at the reviews of ACTUAL customers of the deal. After this 500 and the $350+ in rebates from their energy providers homeowners are seeing a substantial savings in their heating and cooling bill. An insulation upgrade done properly is the fastest return on your money for any upgrade you can do. It also helps the longevity of your roofing components by minimizing temperature swings on the decking of your roof from interior to exterior. I urge anyone to look at reviews of those that actual bought and used the coupon. There is a reason they list this at an A and not F from someone that miss understood. I do appreciate you looking out for others and appreciate the Angieslist system for that matter. Hopefully in the future you will do more homework and understand our upfront honesty and making sure that it is right for you or not instead of jumping to conclusions and writing reviews that are detrimental to companies that are doing the right by there customers. Again read the reviews of customers of this deal. Not those that read past "recommended upgrades" and were upset we couldn't get into the attic and do $500 worth of work and leave.

The provider was prompt and polite as they performed the service. However, they were very unresponsive and unhelpful when it came to helping with the paperwork for the $300 credit they offered to help us get from our energy company after the work was done. About 9 months later, our energy company performed a house-wide energy audit and reported that the attic hatch was not sealed properly and SNAP had used inferior insulated materials - essentially saying what they did was better than nothing, but there would definitely need to be follow up work done to truly block out the cold weather. Not a company I would use again.
Description of Work: Provider vented attic soffits and blew additional insulation in the attic. Also said they would weather strip attic access point.

At best it was OK. I had to drag a lot of information out of him. My daughter had the same thing done by Xcel Energy for free and got a lot more information from them about how to save money of lighting, hot water use etc. Acted like he wanted ot get out of my home ASAP.

It went good, he showed up on time and listened to my husband about what area needed to be checked. He fixed it right away and talked about other problems that needed work in the future and what it would cost. It went pretty fast, we will use this company again in the future.
Description of Work: He fixed a couple things on our roof, inspected the roof for any repairs that needed to be fixed

I had purchased a roof maintenance package through Angie's List. Matt arrived exactly at our scheduled appointment time. When I explained the I had recently purchased the home and the roof was not able to be inspected by the home inspector, Matt said that they did not charge for inspections. After inspecting the roof and finding no maintenance was required Matt suggested that I should request a refund on my purchase. It was nice to find an honest company who had an opportunity to collect on my error in purchasing a service I didn't require, but also gave me a report that wasn't going to generate any work for them. I will be sure to keep Snap Construction in mind when I do actually need work done.
Description of Work: Performed a roof inspection.
