Job did not go forward for reasons stated above.

All he does is install skylights. He did a very good job and was a very nice person. He cleaned up after himself. He was excellent overall. The price was what we expected. I think it was a fair price. This is his specialty. I would recommend him.

Ron is great to work with -- described what would be done and how and did the work exactly as proposed. I had two Velux skylights replaced. The glazing I wanted was a special order item. Ron told me when to expect the skylights to arrive and said he'd install them as soon as they did. The old skylights were removed and hauled away, the new skylights installed with step-flashings and new shingles as needed. One skylight was located over a kitchen counter so the interior was difficult to reach for caulking. Ron was careful as he workded and used dropcloths to protect the floors and countertops. Ron does warranty evaluations for Velux so is very knowledgable about the products and how they should be installed. I was very pleased with his work and his customer service.

We were considering installing skylights while renovating a bathroom tucked into a dormer in our old house. We asked Ron to come look at it, and he was professional and punctual. He pointed out that the roof changed pitch right where the skylights would need to go. Because of this they could not be installed without significant structural work which was well outside our budget. He presented sun tunnels as a cost-effective option, but we decided against that on aesthetic reasons. Because of this skylights were removed from the project and we did not need his services. However, by pointing out the structural issue he saved us the headache and cost of fixing water damage years down the road. An honest contractor that turns down work because it can't be done to quality standards within the customer's budget is priceless and I would not hesitate to call him again.

The seals in the skylights were ruptured and required almost all of our pots & pans to catch drips during the last heavy rain. He came within an hour of our call and installed a temporary cover to stop the leaks - during the storm! We ordered replacements which were installed yesterday. Service was on time, courteous and quality of the install is exceptional. Probably the best overall experience we've ever had for this type of work.

Ron arrived on time, worked efficiently and thoroughly, and we have had two severe storms since then with no issues with any of our skylights leaking.

I had two 18-year old Velux skylights. Both had performed well, but with two recent deluge-type rainstorms, one began leaking at the height of the storm. I called Northern Lights Skylights Monday afternoon and left a message. Ron returned my call Tuesday morning, and was able to come out within a day to do an assessment and provide a written estimate for the installation of two new skylights. For a small additional amount, I was able to get the skylights that are tempered glass, laminated, and argon-filled. He said he would call Sunday night to confirm my install date & time for the following week. Ron called Sunday night as promised. The actual install was scheduled for Thursday, 6 a.m., due to the hot weather we've been having. Ron arrived at 5:45 a.m., we talked briefly about the plan, and he worked continuously thoughout the morning, finishing around 11 a.m. It took a bit longer than planned due to some rotten wood on the roof deck next to one of the skylights. Ron was well equipped to handle the repair, and charged a small additional amount, as he had mentioned during his original visit and estimate. Ron had asked me ahead of time to move a couple of pieces of furniture, as they were next to the skylights, and down below beneath the skylights. He put a large drop cloth in the living room 1 1/2 stories beneath the skylights, to catch a small amount of old caulking and debris from removing the old skylights. The placement was perfect, and caught everything, save a few small specs, which I vacuumed up in less than a minute. I couldn't be more pleased with another hassle-free vendor from Angie's List. Thanks Ron for the great install! Thanks Angie's List for helping me easily find Ron's company! (P.S. Ron mentioned that he is a 5-star dealer for Velux, and also handles their warranty calls for a several state area...It sounds like he has seen it all, so he knows what it takes to complete a proper skylight installation.) I found Ron to be to-the-point, punctual, thorough, and he had excellent follow-through. Most importantly, my skylights look great! Also, my loft area stays cooler with these new tinted argon-filled skylights, so I'll be saving energy as well.

The workman was amazing, was here on time and explained everything he was doing. He did the solar tube in under one hour and cleaned up what little mess was made. One of the best experiences I've had by a workman. I would recommend them to anyone.

It went very well from the phone call from the company in response to our email inquiry to the final installation. We were able to schedule the installation at a mutually convenient time. They were here on time as scheduled, did the work quickly explaining each step as he went.

Our skylight was leaking . He replaced the skylight and the flashing around it. He installed shingles and did minor drywall repair inside. He was fast and efficient . We are very happy with the results.

Ron showed up earlier than what was scheduled, which was okay with me. Everything went pretty much as planned and the new skylight was tested right away with some heavy rainfalls. There are no leaks and the new skylight is much more energy efficient than our old one (we can feel the difference when the sun is straight overhead). Ron noticed that one of the sheet rock panels in the skylight tunnel was bowing in and he was able to fix the problem on the spot. There are some screws that are now exposed in the skylight tunnel that we are going to have to cover up with drywall mud and we need to have the area sanded and painted. Ron said that the other alternative was to remove the drywall panel and have a new one installed, so I agreed to have him try to repair it with screws instead. It worked. Ron was professional and courteous.

I called for an estimate and Ron came out that afternoon. He gave me an estimate that I thought was fair. We scheduled an installation date. He was there when he said he would be and he finished when he told me he expected to. He had to do some extra repair work to replace rotten wood where my previous skylights had leaked. Additionally, he had to build a platform to work around a kitchen island. He cleaned up everything and stayed true to his estimate. The inside trim around the skylights looks really nice. Ron is very professional, straightforward and easy to deal with. He's had years of experience repairing and installing skylights so I'm very happy to have found him through Angie's List.

Called Ron and asked for a bid which he came out and gave us the next day. Found his prices to be very reasonable and he seemed very knowledgeable about what needed to be done. Ron came out as scheduled, replaced the existing skylight that was leaking and tore off the old sheetrock below it which was wet and and cleaned up everything and hauled it away. He is very conscientious about what he does as well as meticulous about his work. I love the new skylight!! Very professional and very thorough at explaining what he did as well as what remains to be done to complete the job. Would definitely recommend him to anyone that is either considering putting in a skylight or having one replaced.

He did a very nice job. This guy was very meticulous. He works by himself and he is an older gentleman and he has not been doing anything but skylights for years and years. It is kind of difficult and he is from Minnesota. Our skylight was leaking overtime because of our weather and this guy was a perfectionist when it comes to skylights. I definitely recommend him. He was excellent. He is not the cheapest guy out there but he really knows what he is doing. As for price my wife kind of did all the negotiations for that. I think that it is certainly fair given the work he did and the amount of time he put in. Again I don’t think he is super high and I don’t think he is trying to undercut anybody. So my guess would be that he is in the mid range. But I am just guessing. He used top quality material and was quick. I will use him in the future.

I liked Ron. He did a great job. I have no complaints. Ron showed me the problem, gave me an accurate quote, and finished the work within two days of my initial call to him. He showed me the problem with the previous installation, which was improper (reversed) overlapping of a moisture barrier. It ended up costing me $1,000 per skylight, which I thought was fair considering the materials, labor time, travel, and the quality of his work. In my experience, he's one of those guys who has worked hard to become very good at what he does, so he can make a living at it honestly without having to try to cut corners on materials or charge unfair costs to make up for his lack of skill. Nobody likes having to spend $2,000 to fix something on their house, but I feel good about the experience. I'd rather pay full price to a guy who knows what he's doing, than pay half-price to someone who's "pretty sure" he knows what he's doing. He also provided me with warranty information for the materials and for his labor, which was reassuring, although I doubt I'll need it. I would recommend him to friends. Also, I'm pretty handy and I thought about doing this myself, but after watching the install--there's no way I could have done it myself properly so I'm glad I didn't try.

He did fine. He was very upfront about it and he went up and checked things first. I would use him again if needed.

My experience was positive from start to finish. I called for an estimate on a Monday morning; the estimate was completed within just a few hours, and the skylight replacement was completed by the end of the next day. He was punctual, professional, and courteous. What I appreciated most, however, was his attention to detail and quality. He readily pointed out possible issues, to ensure I was totally satisfied with the work. For example, there was a streak on the skylight that became noticeable after installation, and he (proactively) pointed it out to me, and offered to come back and clean it. Someone less conscientious could have left and hoped I wouldn't notice. I would not hesitate to recommend this business to others.

It was a great call to make. Ron is an expert in what he does,and he completed the work quickly and professionally. He was accommodating to my time line. He arrived when he said he would, and even dropped by a day early to check on the condition of the new windows to ensure there were no unforeseen problems. I would not hesitate to call Ron again or recommend him to a friend.

We had a very old skylight that needed replacing. Some additional roof/framing work was also needed because the Velux skylight sizes are slightly different than the size of our old skylight (the old skylight was made by a different company that no longer makes skylights). Ron did a great job with all of it -- replacing the skylight, adding the trim, and attaching the shingles -- and we are very happy with his work. We would highly recommend him!
