Terrific experience. I met with Kurt in late February to talk with him about removing the deck and shed. When the shed was removed, a hole would be left in the fence, so we also discussed options on a temporary fix to plug the hole. Kurt was professional and answered my questions as best as possible -- some were not answerable at the time as he needed to actually be able to see how the deck was attached to the house. We arranged the work to be on Thursday, April 2 (weather permitting). Kurt came within the time window he had scheduled. Originally, I had suggested that he put the trailer on the lawn, but that day he said no as the ground was too soft. I appreciated his extra care for my lawn. When he finished removing the deck, he showed me how it had been attached to the house (by a board) and advised me to leave the board. It could be used to attach a new deck if that is the direction I choose to go. He would have removed it if I wished, but I agreed with him that it should be left attached. There were some protruding nails, which he removed so that there would be no injuries if bumped against. Work was completed in less than the estimated time frame. Temporary fence fix was exactly what I needed. He left no trash or mess on my property. Throughout, he was patient with my questions and professional. If I decide to go with a deck, he'll be the one I call to do the work.

The result is a nice new deck plus all the surrounding details. We are very happy with it. Kurt was very flexible and patiently worked with us until we all agreed what exactly we wanted. He worked alone, was slower than we expected, and was not exactly cheap, but all that was worth it.

Kurt was very responsive to my request to evaluate what needed to be done to my deck. I heard from him immediately, and did not have to chase him down, as is often the case with contractors. When I was mowing the grass, I noticed that one of the support beams of my deck had completely rotted through, and others also needed repair. When Kurt arrived, we discussed options for repair, including just replacing the beams, replacing the beams with new footings, or a complete deck replacement. We decided that the deck itself was in good repair, and the footings were sound. Kurt did not try to persuade me to pay for more work than what was necessary. The deck is now sturdy and level. The work was well-done with good cleanup. The complete job was done professionally, quickly, and I appreciated Kurt's friendly and helpful advice. I was very pleased with this contractor's response time and honesty. He replied quickly to my message and wasted no time in giving me a bid. I was preparing the house for sale and wanted to keep costs down so he shopped for a sale on the materials and passed the savings on to me. I'm not usually trusting of contractors but it was apparent from the beginning that he was ethical person and a professional. The work was done earlier than I expected and was of high quality. I had a cedar deck that needed new flooring and railings. The old wood had been removed last summer by another builder who I did not want to continue working with. I was hoping, since the foundations appeared solid that I would not have to completely tear down the 4 main supports. Kurt carefully laid out my options, left some samples with me of new decking and while I was on a tight budget I decided to go with composite decking based on his recommendations. He suggested a design change which saved some money. Unfortunately, the support beams did need replacing but, again, he was very clear about what needed doing and what my choices were. He also made sure he was on hand for the inspection. Kurt was willing to listen to all my suggestions and questions. I would not hesitate to recommend him.

i realize it's a small job and pointed out that fact in my email to vendor. the least they could do would be to reply and turn down the job rather than ignore the request.

Kurt was responsive, reasonable, prompt, thorough, fair, courteous and did excellent work. We recommend him highly.

I called for an estimate to fix up my deck. He was very polite, professional, knowledgeable, and upfront about costs and time involved. Since he is more of a deck builder and repairer, and we are looking for staining and sanding, I will most likely not use his services...yet. I definitely will keep his number for the future when I am tired on constantly re-staining and decide to just build a whole new composite deck.

Kurt came to my house to provide an estimate on some deck work. My home inspector had identified an improperly installed ledger flashing that was allowing some moisture behind the siding. Kurt came out within a couple days of calling. He was punctual. Kurt identified a minor flashing issue, but he did not believe that was the cause of the moisture intrusion. He was not confident that he could identify the cause of the moisture problem or fix it, so he did not provide a quote. His honesty was appreciated - he could have quoted me a bunch of work that probably would have not fixed the problem.

I do not remember the date when he came out and the price he quoted because this man does not email. It was a phone call and nothing was in writing. He was fine, thorough, on time, and courteous, but in this day and age, email is a huge thing. I just think he needs to learn that or have somebody in his family learn it. I would certainly consider using him because he had a lot of decks done in this area, and he got a lot of positive grade.

The work was spread out over time since I was out of town for two separate stretches during the summer. There were some tricky pieces to the project since my house is old. The final result is very nice.

He was a nice guy and professional but didn't get back to us and we wanted to move. The price was higher too and his estimates took little longer. I think he would be good to work with.

He is very knowledgeable and willing to give advice.

Overall, everything turned out very good!

The project went very well and we are very pleased with the quality of work. The estimate was delivered promptly as promised and work started as scheduled. The only delays were due to weather or unavailable materials. Very good communication throughout the project.

I had searched Angie's list for deck construction and found that Silversaw (Kurt O) was in our neighborhood. Kurt, a one man company, came over to make an estimate. I explained what we wanted, he made some good suggestions and then came back with a proposal and estimate. As he works only one job at a time he also gave us an estimate for the start date. Everything seemed good to us so we accepted his proposal. Teardown of the decking and railings took one day and was hauled off. Ten footings were placed for the expanded section and the structure was than added. Kurt found that the stairs to the ground needed total replacement, so that was done. The artifical decking was attached and railings put up. Whenever an issue came up, Kurt immediatley explained them and the choices that could be taken. It turned out better than we had expected and love our new and improved deck.

He was extremely professional. He came out and told us right up front that he was busy. He did finally come out to look at the job that needed to be done. He did get back to us in the time that he said he would with an estimate, but it was markedly higher so we didn't go with him. He was very professional and he kept us informed where he was and about his workload. He told us that he was going to give us the estimate a week later because it was his busy season, and he did. It was a free estimate. His price wasn't where we hoped, but that doesn't mean that he didn't live up to what he said he was going to do. He was very professional and he was a very nice guy.

Kurt from Silversaw did a fantastic job on our deck. He was open, honest and very reasonable right from the start. He was prompt to arrive at the estimate, came back 1 week later with actual pricing and options. He was on-site a week later starting the job. Overall the deck took about 1.5 weeks to complete as Kurt typically works by himself, but by doing so he has full control of the quality that goes into the building of the deck, and believes me when I say it's there. Kurt was also willing to work with us on different types of payments, making it much easier for us to purchase the deck. Overall I am very pleased with the results.

He was prompt. He was thorough and he explained everything to me. He basically does a tear off and rebuilding of decks and I wanted it to be painted. He gave me a written estimate. He had a form that he could give an estimate on. His estimate was thorough. I possibly would consider using him in the future.

He did an excellent job, but he was up against time, weather and a certain big box retailer which caused my 2-3 week time frame to become months. He started late in the fall and wasn't able to finish until February, when there was hip-high snow. His high level of professionalism and perfectionism wouldn't allow him to install the damaged composite which had been delivered. After a few more deliveries and returns from the same vendor, he gave me a choice: To install the scratched composite for a big discount or to keep hoping for a new undamaged shipment of composite. I chose to have him install the scratched material. Once the decision was made he finished quickly. I am assuming he won't be using that vendor again. The only thing I would suggest Kurt do is to be more pro-active about keeping me in the loop.

The gentleman’s name was Kurt. He was nice to work with and he was knowledgeable. He kept us informed and he was one man operation. It was nice that the person whom you talk to was the person who did the work. There was a mistake when the materials were ordered, but he got on top of it right away before any delays.

Everything went very well - he got the permits and started the project when he said he would. The inspector was arranged and came and did not delay the project. Wood was delivered and he worked very hard everyday - including having to go get additional wood when some was not up to his standards. He worked in the heat and the rain and finished the job pretty much on schedule. Inspector came and signed off on the deck.

We didn't us them because the other company seemed more accessible. He was, however, really great, and I wouldn't have had any problem using him.
