Shipshape Interior Painting

Interior Painting, Drywall, Plaster,

About us

Shipshape Interior Painting is owned and operated by a fourth-generation painter with over 30 years experience. Prior to 2018, we worked as Banner Home Painting, but have shifted our focus to exclusively doing top-notch interior work. We aren't going to be the cheapest guys out there, but we want to be the best you can get for a reasonable price. The majority of our work is residential interior redo, with an increasing amount of subcontracting on residential remodel jobs. Terms for work include a signed contract and 1/3 to 1/2 advance payment at the start of the job, with the final payment due immediately upon completion of the job. Costs are based on individual free estimates. Any overages are approved by customer in advance--no surprise extra charges.

Description of Work: I had BANNER HOME PAINTING Paint my kitchen ceiling and kitchen walls. |The ceiling got two coats of paint. |The walls had to be primed because they had been repaired and plastered previously. Then, two coats of Red paint was applied. |Everything was done meticulously and it turned out Beautiful. |I couldn't be happier. |I have new cupboards and floors and counter tops. So, I was very concerned about protecting them, but everything was taped and covered well. |There was no rushing or skipping corners. |It was clear that Banner has a lot of pride for a job well done. |I was very Happy with the end result and would definitely call upon them again.

Description of Work: They were pleasant to deal with. They arrived at the time and date they said and got it done. I had to pick up my younger son and wan't there when they left. They did miss 2 spots on either side of my kitchen window but I finished it myself, very small detail. | I wasn't thrilled with their choice to listen to their radio while I was home, not my station, but again, not a big problem. | I would definitely hire them again.

Excellent. Bryan was very prompt, efficient, friendly. Very happy with the outcome.
Description of Work: Just as a clarification, the daily deal price was $199.00 for a day. I paid an additional $195. To include the cost of the paint and 2 extra hours because he had an extra person. They painted a bedroom, removed wallpaper border around stairwell and painted the area.

I couldn't ask for more from this provider. He showed up on time and got right to work. The coverage was nice and even and the paint lines are nice and straight. He did a great job of taping and prepping before starting. I'm not an easy homeowner to impress but will hire Banner Home Painting again.

The exterior of our 1.5-story 1926 bungalow has stucco on the first floor and cedar shingles on the second floor gable ends (including above the front porch). We’ve lived in the house for 33 years. The stucco was painted white before our time, and the paint was now peeling. We (sadly) had all of the exterior wood covered by aluminum 28 years ago. Now we were ready to have the exterior completely restored—stucco sandblasted and re-dashed, aluminum removed, wood repaired as needed, wood scraped and painted, new wooden storm doors front and back, plus some extras (isn’t that always the case?). I bought a kit to test for lead, and determined that the paint on the stucco did not contain lead, but the paint on the woodwork did (as expected). We talked to stucco people and siding people, but could not find anyone willing to take responsibility for managing and contracting the whole job, which required a lot of coordination and cooperation among the crews that did the siding removal, stucco work, carpentry, painting, storm window removal and reinstallation, and rain gutter removal and reinstallation. Finally, I sent an e-mail to Krishna Dorney of Metropolis Construction asking if he would take on the job. I had seen Krishna’s ad in the newsletter of the Twin Cities Bungalow Club, but neither that ad nor his web site indicates that Krishna does exterior work. Fortunately for us, he does, and we hired him to manage the whole job. From start to finish (six weeks) we could not have been more pleased with the professionalism and consideration of everyone who worked on this job. All were polite, articulate, and helpful. They cleaned up well after the work was done, and as we all know, work crews on exterior jobs bring along radios, but this was the first time we have ever heard crews listening to Minnesota Public Radio(!). Krishna always listened to our concerns and ideas, and he always had one or more solutions to offer. We believe that he appreciates the qualities of old houses and really enjoys working on them. He and his team of carpenters did outstanding work in restoring or replacing wood that had been mutilated by the application of aluminum siding or, in a few cases, had suffered water damage. The final step was to fit, sand, stain, and varnish the new wooden storm doors. Scott Nicko (Modern Exteriors, Inc.) offered valuable advice and took the time to make sure that the new stucco color was exactly what we wanted. The sandblasting created a world of dust. Scott minimized the dust infiltration into our house by taping plastic over all of the windows and doors, but one of our neighbors was a bit miffed that he didn’t tape her windows. Scott and his helper also laid down plastic on the ground around the house, and cleaned up well after the job. The final product is excellent. Bryan Alft (Banner Home Painting, Inc.) and his team of painters (Sean and Shaun) also offered advice on colors, and readily painted swathes to show us how the colors worked together. About a week into the painting phase, Bryan left for a long-planned two-week vacation, but Sean and Shaun carried on expertly in his absence. We love the final result.
Description of Work: Scraped and painted all exterior woodwork on my house--gables' cedar shingles, soffits, fascia, window and door trim, porch floor and trim, and stucco on the inside of the porch to match the rest of the stucco on the house.

I had some issues with the bathroom painting that he had done originally. He fixed it and didn’t charge me anything. He was very prompt and great with follow-ups. He stood by his work even though it wasn’t necessarily his responsibility. I really appreciated that about him. He was competitively priced too.

Pricing was competitive with two other bids. We picked Bryan because he was in our neighborhood. I don't think we could have made a better choice. Bryan and the crew were very good about carefully treading on our newly landscaped yard and cleaning up each day. Bryan was very accommodating about scheduling around some of the yard work we had going around the same time. June was also a tough month for rain, but they worked around it without risking long-term problems if he had prepped or painted before surfaces were properly dry. In the end, it's a beautiful job. We're very happy to recommend Bryan and Banner Painting.
Description of Work: Bryan and his team did a great job on the exterior of our house and garage. They cleaned, prepped and painted the cedar shake siding, windows and soffets. The cleaning included new lead abatement procedures for the windows (siding tested no lead). The paint was sprayed, which was a great way to do the cedar shakes (the kind with the little grooves). My wife has more of an eye for detail and said that she could tell Bryan was very meticulous about each stage of the work, especially the nicely done final color coat.

Great! Bryan came out to do the quote and the work. He not only matched the stain but the finish looks great with the cabinets. He explained early that it might be hard ot match exactly because the cabinets were factory finished and air brushed stain and finish but he did an amzing job. Beacuse everything matches so well everyone thinks we had custom cabinets installed. He also went beyond the quote and filled in between ceiling molding and ceiling to eliminate gaps.
Description of Work: Asked Banner to match stain of new kitchen woodwork to installed cabinets.

We had bought new house that needed some TLC. Bryan worked with us to keep tha cost down and to still finish on schedule so we could move out of our old house into the new one by closing. He did a superb job on everyhting and helped fix up some stuff the electricians did along the way. He filled celing dents prior to painting which we hadn't even seen. He quickly came last minute to skim coat bathroom walls the day before move in so we could finally finish the bathroom.

Bryan is a fantastic painter! He is friendly and easy to communicate with. His rates were totally reasonable, and the work was top quality! I would hire Bryan again for any future painting jobs, interior or exterior.
Description of Work: Bryan prepped and painted our living room and dining room ceilings, and completely painted 2 bedrooms, a hallway, a bathroom, and a small entryway. This included successfully covering some tough water stains and patching several cracks in the plaster.
