I never heard of SHELTON PAINTING until I found them on Angie's List and noticed they had many positive reviews. I instantly felt comfortable with Todd Shelton and knew they he was well versed in painting, both interior and exterior. To begin with he said would be be at my house at 8:30 am to start the job and they had four guys show up at EXACTLY 8:30 am. I am extremely punctual and he got high marks from the start. Todd suggested that I select a color in the "whole wheat/taupe" color scheme and said with my natural hardwood floors and white wood, this color would be a good choice and it turned out to be an excellent choice. I just purchased a new house a few miles away, but knew that if I wanted to get TOP dollar for my house of 24 years in this nasty real estate market, I had better get my house in SW Minneapolis in tip top shape for the public and this is exactly what Shelton Painting did for me. I had some minor water damage on the plaster walls and they repaired them and made it look like new. My "dingy" unfinished basement had chipped paint on the concrete walls and floors and they painted the walls bright white and the floor gray and it looks absolutely sensational. It is hard to believe what fresh paint will do for a house. The bedrooms were all painted and my old bathroom wallpaper was removed and repaired and a fresh coat of paint was applied the the walls look fantatic. I did have some minor chips on the baseboard and door frames over the year and they patched them and made them look like new. It is hard to hard to image this house that was built in 1927 is over 80 years old. As they were working in the house, they noticed the hallway ceiling was full of cobwebs and looked dirty, so they decided this paint job would NOT be complete without a fresh paint and they did it without any extra charge! This is what is called VALUED added and they exceeded my expectations! The entire crew of six painters seemed very professional and they cleaned up the entire house very nicely. They made sure the house met my expectations BEFORE they accepted the final check and wanted to make sure that I was satisfied and SATISFIED I was. I own two other homes and and I have found my painter and will not hesitate to use them again and again.

There was 2 workers & 1 supervisor that came out to do the job. They were very good, friendly & the customer service was great. I didn't have other estimates to compare it to but the price to me seemed a little high. I really didn't have a clue what it would cost. They were very meticulous so it was very well done & in the end that was worth it. I was considering having him do some additional painting because I had a porch added on & I was going to have him prime & paint underneath that & that price I know was high. I just remember my husband & I thinking that it was high. This is what makes me think that maybe the price was a little high for the job they did so I would have to give them a B grade for pricing. The overall experience was an A because they were very professional, did an excellent job, did very neat work & cleaned up after themselves. I was very happy with it all & would use them again.

They were very fast and prompt. The crew was courteous, friendly and skilled. They did a good job.

Todd was very professional and personable. He was on time and honest about when the job could be done (including waiting for dry days, depending on the weather). The crew was respectful and worked hard. The handyman that Todd called in, with our approval, was honest about what needed to be replaced and what it would cost. The job was done ahead of schedule, and the house looks great!

I am completely impressed. The Shelton painters are very experienced and very good at what they do. I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for high quality painters. They are professionals and take pride in careful and beautiful work. What my house lacks in area, it makes up for in weird angles and high walls and ceilings. The Shelton painters had to use their tallest outdoor ladders and some scary maneuvering to hit my vaulted ceiling and the hard-to-reach areas of the walls. They took their time and did an outstanding job. I had my doubts as to whether exterior painters would be able to do careful indoor work. They proved me wrong. They spent a lot of time eliminating all the dings in my walls, avoiding roller marks, and cleaning up. At one time, there must have been 7 painters here. They were focused and polite. Also, Dan asked me about my schedule and had his crew work around it. They will work a long day to get the job done. I found them very reliable.

We paid for high end quality painting because after they spray painted they went over it with a brush so we believe it will last longer before it starts to peel again.

The newly painted walls are beautiful! Shelton Painters were very professional and hard working. They showed up early and worked late to finish our project. We have nothing but praise to offer regarding Shelton Painters.

They responded quickly to my request for an estimate and performed the work in accordance with the date they promised (after a short delay because of weather). The work was done very professionally, and the cleanup was perfect. Even though much of the painting was on a ceiling, they did not spill a drop anywhere. They did a great job and I would definitely use them again.

All of the pre-work stuff went great-the free estimate, the time frame for them to start etc. Unfortunately it rained the day they were supposed to power wash so they came out the next day(a Saturday)to do it. They then came back the following Thursday once the deck was 100% dry to do the stain. They showed up earlier than anticipated and were done in about 5 hours. The person who did the free estimate then came out to go over the work that had been done, and I was amazed at what they were able to do with both the deck and the siding! I can't recommend these guys enough!

All the workers were very kind. I had a lot of exposure to the two owners, Todd and Dan, which was nice. They always came at the end of the day, if not during the day to check on progress. Todd gave me good advice on a new door color. We love it! Todd also recommended a handyman who was very quick to replace some missing or rotted wood on the trim before they painted. Overall, I would highly recommend them!

It was excellent from start to finish, including willingness to add on additional work in same time frame. Owners inspired confidence, and delivered.

Very smoothly - Todd came and gave an estimate that week, the work was scheduled quickly. We had used them before and they did a great job two years ago. This time was no different. The cost for the porch was high, but fair - it was a lot of work. I'm sure I could have gotten it done cheaper, but I wanted it done well, especially because it involved scraping lead paint and with a small child I needed to be sure it was done properly.

They did an excellent job. They were able to get all the painting done in one day. They cleaned up well and the paint job looks great, especially the wood trim.

Todd was on time for the estimate. He wrote it up right there while I was waiting, answered all my questions and explained exactly what was included. Trash removal was an additional $50, but on a job this size that was not an issue. Todd also explained why/how the bid could be too low (if drywall had too be replaced or other structural damage). The crew arrived on time every day, and I never saw any goofing off. The entire crew was both friendly and professional and answered my questions as they came up. They cleaned up after themselves every day and of course after the job. For one room, their paint supplier couldn't match the color so they went to where I got the paint chip for that room's paint. I was nervous since I had never had this much work done on a house at once. It was smooth sailing and I had nothing to do but put the breakables back out once they were done.

Shelton Painting did a fabulous job on the outside and inside of our home. The staff showed up on time and worked hard the entire time they were here. Very professional, nice painters. Cleaned up after the work was completed, moved furniture, worked FAST - all in all it was a great job. We are very happy and would use them again.

They were able to come out and do the job within the week and took only 2 days. They were very polite and professional. I would definitely recommend them.

I called the company and within several hours, Dan called to set up a time for an estimate. He arrived on time and give a bid on that job as well as some other work we may do in the future. We made arrangements to have the work done and they arrived on time and ready to work. The condition of the bottom back porch was fairly rough, lots of alligator paint and some gaps between wood. The painter scraped essentially all the paint down to the wood, sanded, caulked and painted. It took about a day and a half. He also swept and washed the back porch floor in the cleanup. The painter was careful and thorough. Dan, one of the partners, who gave us the estimate was professional and personable. Todd, the other owner, came to look at the work when it was completed. Both Todd and Dan run a reliable, honest, and professional company. I highly recommend them.

Prompt in returning calls, flexible in scheduling. Nice guys. Fence looks great.

The guys (Zac, Brian & Jaimie) were great! They arrived on time and worked hard all day. The job took about 1 1/2 days. They were courteous and very respectful of me and my home. They cleaned up all their mess when done. Then, they put all the outlet & switch covers back on and moved the furniture back to the original positions. It was a pleasure doing business with Shelton Painting and I would definitely use them again.

Called for an estimate and Todd the owner was early - which was great. Shelton Painting was the lowest of the three estimates by $200. Asked when they could paint the room and they were the soonest to schedule the job. The day of the job start time was 8:30am, they were there early again. Todd came to instruct the crew just what we wanted. They began their work - prepping the walls. The attention to small things was given. Things was covered in plastic to protect our stuff. The walls required two coats of paint. I asked one of the crew members if I could paint a vent cover and he offered to paint it for me. The painting was done by 3pm and clean up by 3:30 was detailed - got minor touch ups. Todd came back to ask what we thought about the job and to collect payment. Love the overall look. Very professional and will be using them again to paint other rooms in our home.

It was a tiptop experience. The came out right on time. They removed all of the cabinet door, they created a paint shop in my garage and enamel painted all of the cabinets with two coats and they are absolutely beautiful. They did this in 2 days from 8 am to 6pm, they reinstalled and cleaned up everything. You would never know they were here.

They did a fantastic job. They moved the furniture for us and painted everything as we wanted. The job was finished in less time than they originally estimated. There was one minor problem we discovered after they left, but they came right back out and fixed it quickly.

I had wallpaper in the entry, stairway and landing. The stairway ceiling goes up to the second story so not something I wanted to do myself. Very knowledgeable and you get the feeling they really know what they are doing when they come to do the estimate. The estimate is the final price no matter what happens. We suspected there was a second layer of wallpaper and did not know if it would come off. Also wanted to have them come and do the work on a specific week when I would be out of town to avoid the paint fumes for my baby. Was also scheduling some other work with another company and asked them about the other workers being able to get up and down the stairs and they said it would be no problem, they work around families and other things like that all the time and they just make it work. They took down the first layer of wallpaper and found a second layer that would not come off, so they were going to skim coat it which would require sanding. They taped and sealed off all the doors and rooms outside where they were working. The entry and landing were a dark color that required an extra coat. It is wonderful to finally have the wallpaper gone and the paint colors I wanted. It looks great. There was very minimal cleanup for me. A few picky things I noticed were a few tight spots where the door frame is really close to the corner were clumpy, probably couldn't sand down the skim coat, and a few "seams" of one color to another color weren't "perfect" so I touched them up with the paint they left, also had to wipe down some of the woodwork, I think some of the glue from steaming off the wallpaper must've gotten on the woodwork.

They were excellent. They power washed the house and applied three coats. I would highly recommend them.

Emailed for estimate noon on Friday. Met with Todd Sat at 1pm. Painting completed noon Tuesday. Pleasant, professional, punctual. Great color advice. Thanks for the tips on spackling, Dan! Thanks Angies list! and Shelton Painting!
