Steve showed up on time. Unfortunately, Steve did not turn off the water when he installed the water filter. Water leaked to the basement. It took many towels to clean it up. He stated that he could not get back to switch the bathtub controls. Instead, he only changed the sticker to the bathtub controls. He did complete all of the tasks. He did an okay job but I would not have him return.

Scheftel Construction did a great job of completing the work described. After initial contact, Steve was able to fit my job into his busy schedule sooner than I expected. He arrived precisely on time, removed the partition from my kitchen very quickly and efficiently, and then scheduled Mark to come the next day to patch everything up. Mark arrived precisely on time the next day and quickly completed the patchwork and finishing of the remaining drywall. Mark also trimmed out a window in my kitchen. Both Steve and Mark did a great job. They were punctual, efficient, they didn't waste any time getting their work done, and both were really easy to work with. They left the work area clean after they were finished and they hauled off all the debris. I will definitely call Scheftel Construction again when I need more work on my home completed.

I used an Angie's List Big Deal for handyman services. The two men spent two hours here and got a lot done. The gutter cleaning went better than expected and extra attention was paid to the downspouts which were also found to be filled. They also hauled away the old insulation.

So far it has gone fine. He came over and using all manual equipment loaded up 600 lb of tree sections and carted them to his sawmill. In a few weeks when he has finished drying, edging, and planing them I will pick up my boards from his place in Minneapolis. update: today, 11/21/2013 I picked up my boards and he did a good job of planing and straitedging and drying the boards. Further, he aportioned out the correct ratio of boards per our agreement -- 2/3 for me and 1/3 of the board feet for himself. Steve is a nice guy; a little rough around the edges but he keeps his word and is easy to get along with. I would use his service again.

Steve is just phenomenal and I can?t say enough about him. He is a small builder and our project was larger than what he typically does but he did an amazing job. The framers and finishers that worked with him were also professional and skilled. Steve's craftsmanship and attention to detail are top notch. He believes in doing the job the right way. In areas where he disagreed with our architect's approach, it was usually because he felt there was a better, higher quality way of doing something that would make the end product better--particularly based on his in-depth knowledge of wood. That said, he is cost-conscious for the buyer where you can be but does not cut corners where it is important. Steve is very professional, conscientious, returns calls, and shows up on time. The inspector that came said he couldn't believe how good of a job Steve did on everything he did. He delivers extremely high quality for his price. Steve's finishing work is beautiful. He is very artistic. We did not have all of the trim details worked through and he came up with ideas to make the finished product look polished. He has creative ideas: I needed benches, he asked me what I wanted, and I said I didn't know and asked if he had some ideas and he had some great ideas and came back with something that was fantastic. Steve built us a raw edged countertop and facing for an island in our kitchen from the wood he milled. He also built us a barn door that matched and thresholds that flowed from room to room as you stepped down. They are the centerpieces of our addition and remodel. I will not work with anybody but him. I have had some good workers in the past but he is on a totally different level.

Scheftel was willing to work with the plumber I had chosen -- though they hadn't worked with them before. They knew all the codes and explained that since my tub had been moved in front of the double windows, all those window panes would need to be replaced with shatterproof glass. They reused my oak medicine cabinet and claw-foot tub. I was pleased they only replaced what needed to be.

Steve is a nice guy, he is honest, pricing is fair. His does good work and timely.

I found Steve through another person's recommendation. As a female homeowner I felt he was very honest & that I could trust him. He is very pleasant to deal with & a real perfectionist which I really liked & is very important to me. When he does a job it is done from start to finish, nothing left for me to do. I can't say enough good about this guy & I will certainly use him again. He is coming back to do some other work for me. Sometime's women can feel that they could be easily taken advantage of. I did'nt feel that way at all with Steve.
