I hired Sage because their price was right. Pat worked very hard to get me the quality and color of carpeting that I wanted and gave good recommendations. i think they are good carpet installers and, in the end, I have a good product and am happy with the results, although, i do need to have them come back and re do some of the seams. My drawback is their lack of professionalism. The first time they arrived to work, they rang the doorbell, and Pat came in on the phone. He stood in my entry, finishing up a conversation for about 10 minutes without acknowledging me or introducing me to his co-worker. So, we stood their awkwardly until he got off his phone. From that point on, they never rang the doorbell. They would just arrive and walk in. I started locking the door, so that I would at least make sure I was dressed when they entered. They started late in the morning, which meant that when my husband got home at night, we would have dinner and be ready for bed and they would still be in our house working. So, we had some late nights waiting for them to leave. (Usually around 10:30 or 11 at night.) Pat spends a lot of time sitting in a corner on the phone or texting. I peeked in a room to check their progress, only to see Pat making snow angels on my carpet. They never removed their shoes when they came in and out, so I was constantly mopping up mud. I can only imagine what my new carpet had on it. It was dark brown, so it didn’t show. As mentioned before, there are some places where the seams show when I vacuum. I need to call them to come back and fix that. I guess my summary is that for one week, my house was not my own. But, when they left, I had a good product for a lot less than others in town. You will have to weigh how important professionalism is to you with how much money you want to save.
Description of Work: Replaced whole house with carpet.

Sage was really flexible to work with. They came over, measured the space, and gave us an estimate that was slightly lower than the other bids we received. The owner, Pat, was very involved, knowledgeable and friendly. We had Finished Basement Company remodeling the basement and the project manager was not doing a good job with the schedule, so Sage's install dates kept moving. Sage was quite flexible with the ever-changing dates. Once Sage was scheduled to install, they moved very slowly. We were used to trades arriving pretty early each day, but Sage didn't usually roll in until mid-day. We weren't paying them by the hour, so that shouldn't matter, but it was a little challenging because there were other activities being scheduled around them. There was quite a bit of yelling and screaming between Pat and his employee, that was really awkward. It was also pretty tense because they didn't know if there would be enough carpet -- even though we ordered more carpet than they said they needed after their measurements. They arrived at mid-day each day and moved pretty slowly. At one point, while the employee was working in one room, Pat was in another room laying on the floor sleeping. Pat was always yelling and berating this employee, an older guy, and it was either really uncomfortable or really comical, depending on your sensibilities. The employee yelled right back at him because I guess he figured that a man wouldn't fire his own father. Eventually figuring out they were father and son made it a little less uncomfortable, I guess. They moved slowly, but they did a beautiful job on the seams and they managed to carefully measure every cut to make sure there would be enough carpet to get up the stairs, as planned. Because our project was so far behind, they were working under pressure with other trades right on top of them, which is not the ideal environment. Apparently, Sage didn't feel it was their job to prep the floors before laying the carpet, and they might be right about that. But rather than communicate their concerns, they just put the carpet down right over debris on the floor. I could feel and see lumps in the carpet so we had to pull it up. Some of the lumps were from other work going on down there, but some were actually carpet pad scraps. We paid them their fee plus an extra amount for their flexibility. They said if we had any issues they would be back, as their work is guaranteed. When we called a few weeks later to tell them that we need some gaps between the carpet and the trim addressed, they said that wasn't their problem. We also wanted the carpet built up a bit to meet the tile in the bathroom and they said that wasn't their issue either. They never communicated to the project manager or to us that anything was wrong. They say their work is guaranteed, but they want to be paid to fix anything.
Description of Work: Installed carpet in a large, lower-level space (we did not buy our carpet through Sage)

When I called Sage Flooring, they immediately responded and told me they had done this type of repair previously and would be able to fix this for me. They did exactly what they said they could and would do. My floor looks like it should have from the beginning. And if I'd only bought the flooring from them to start with, I would have gotten a 2-year guarantee and this would have been covered. Lesson learned! As a nice added bonus, they actually had people skills. I didn't think that existed in the customer service industry any more. I would highly recommend Sage Flooring for any flooring needs you might have!
Description of Work: I had purchased laminate wood flooring from Lowe's. I had a contractor install it. About two weeks later, gaps began appearing in the flooring. Neither the manufacturer nor the contractor would take responsibility and fix it. I ended up with a new floor that looked terrrible. I had been looking for someone to repair it ever since. Lowe's installer said I'd have to replace the entire floor and buy all new flooring plus labor. He quoted $5000. Others I called were not interested in taking it on. Sage Flooring repaired the gaps by a couple of different methods. The end result was the floor I should have had in the first place! And I did not have to purchase any more flooring or materials. The cost of the job was labor only.
