It's November and I am still waiting for a fix. On one occasion they showed up before appointment time and left before the appointment time (even documented it this way) and blamed me. Today I was to have an appointment and now they claim they came last week and called. False. No appointment was set for last week and I checked all missed calls for which there were none from them. The woman who schedules the appointments is rude. I even asked to speak with a supervisor and she promised this could happen but I never rec a call. I'm hoping my service plan allows me to use another company or at least makes them drop off the part so I can hire someone else to install it.
Description of Work: The first tech who showed up did not correctly respond to the problem resulting in water in my furnace. The second tech was good, correctly fixed the issue but acknowledged the water had damaged the furnace but it was usable for now rust and all. The water blew out the fan motor.

I've used River City Furnace for 3-4 years for a rental property, and never had a problem. I am required to have a bi-annual furnace inspection, with paperwork to prove it. The technician never filed the paperwork, and then went out of town for an emergency. Emergencies happen, but this really screwed me, and I had to hire another firm to do the inspection in time.

I called Home Smart at about 9:30, River City called within an hour and schedule a technician to come that same day. Service technician was here by 2:00, diagnosed and did repair within 45 minutes.
Description of Work: Replaced gasket on water heater. This was a provider contracted with my Home Smart repair plan through Excel Energy. There was no direct charge to me.

The serviceman was prompt, and clearly knew how to diagnose the problem and recommend repair solutions. Although he was knowledgeable, I questioned his professionalism. I felt like he was "talking down" to me, which I didn't appreciate. I would have appreciated more respect, even though my plan was paying for the service and not me directly.
Description of Work: River City Furnace is the contracted company through my Excel Energy Homesmart Plan, so I don't have a choice in service providers as long as my appliances are covered under the Homesmart P lan. I have yearly maintenance and repair on my furnace, central A/C, hot water heater and other covered appliances. The service in January was a repair on the central A/C.

This is the second review on this company from us. One of the minisplit unit we have installed had weird noise issue after a few months. After diagnosis, they ordered the parts and fixed the problem very quickly. So far, the problem has occurred yet. Again, we are very satisfied by their responsiveness and professionalism.
Description of Work: One unit had noise issue and is still under warranty. A tech from the company first diagnosed the problem, ordered parts and replaced the damaged parts.

We requested four quotes for this project. River City gave us the best price as well as a best system. While most other companies offer a dual zone unit becasue we need two indoor units, Paul from River City offered us two seperate signle zone systems that give us flexibility as well as qualification for the federal tax credit. So far, the two units are performing great for the hot days last week. Very quite and powerful. Paul was working hard to meet our budget. The installing techs and electrician were very professional and punctual. The company is very responsive by calling to remind us of the installation a day before and calling to get our feedback after the completion of the installatin. So, we will definitely use them again in future.

The replacement furnace's motor broke. I left an emergency message, and never got a response. Luckily I was able to find someone else to make repairs, but in the meantime it was nearly unbearably cold. My husband and I are seniors, and cold bothers us more than it used to. It has been a week, and my emergency is still unanswered. River City clearly does not stand behind their products.

I found out about River City Furnace through a neighbor who had referred some folks to them who had positive experiences with them. I was a bit skeptical about it since they had received two negative ratings here on AL, but figured another bid wouldn't hurt. River City was my fifth bid for a complete HVAC solution. Paul came out to give me a quote and his bid was the lowest bid of all five that I had received. I decided to go with them and after signing the paperwork, they were out that same week to do the install. They were in and out in about 1/2 a day's time, which seemed pretty quick for a replacement of both AC and furnace units (to me). Paul returned in the afternoon and showed me how to operate the new thermostat and gave me a run through of the work performed. He guided me through the rebate and tax refund processes and ensured I was comfortable with everything before he left. All in all, I was very happy with the work that they performed.

The technician immediately suspected a problem with the furnace, not the thermostat. In fact, he blamed the heat exchanger even before he looked at the furnace. The technician said that the thermostat was not working because of a problem with the furnace. He reset the rollout switch, turned up the thermostat to get the furnace firing, and looked at the flames. He told me that the problem was a cracked heat exchanger, and ''red tagged'' the furnace so that it couldn't be used until it was repaired. He said that heat exchangers in this particular furnace (Armstrong) last only 7 years and that they could perform a warranty replacement of the heat exchanger for a price of approximately $350. He did not check for carbon monoxide. I got a second opinion. Another company came by and felt that there was no evidence to support the diagnosis of a cracked heat exchanger. A loose hose was repaired, and there was no evidence of CO from the furnace.
Description of Work: River City was sent out by Xcel Energy HomeSmart to look at our furnace. My original complaint was that the thermostat was not functioning. River City came out to see what the trouble was.

WE HAVE HOME SMART THROUGH XCEL. FOR WHAT THEY DID THEY CHARGED $125.
Description of Work: THEY FINALLY CAME OUT TO REPAIR OUR GAS FIREPLACE. THEY SPENT TWO MINUTES EXAMINING THE FIREPLACE AND TOLD US IT NEEDED TO BE CLEANED BEFORE THEY COULD MAKE THE NEEDED REPAIRS.
