Richfield Blacktop & Concrete

Everything went extremely well thru the actual installation. Very professional and did what they said they would do and when they said they would do it. A couple of months after the installation I started to notice some very significant indents in the pavement. I understood that it had been a very hot summer and some damage was caused by the heat and the way our driveway curves, but a significant amount of the damage was caused by cars just parking on the driveway on a hot day - that should not have happened. When I called the company it took several calls to get someone to agree to come look at the driveway. When a gentleman finally did come he fixed some of the issues, but later called and said he did not finish it because the damage was cased by us mis-using the driveway. Over the second summer we had more indents develop in the area of the driveway that was added on. To the company's credit this year they came back out and did a very good job of repairing the driveway and promised to come back again next years if any more issues developed..

It went very well. They were detailed when they came out to do the estimate which I really appreciated not knowing anything about paving. The quality of the work that they did after it was finished was very good.

My biggest complaint is that they contracted out the job to Lino Lakes blacktop. the surveyers that came out to measure and to take out the old driveway were not very professional with their language. They was ALOT of cussing, swearing, and Gods name was used very carelessly. They were not even there for 10 minutes and were swearing because they ran into some hard parts to take out. I do not talk like this myself and I don't expect others to talk like that when they are at my home either. I did not say anything but I wish I had. The work they did was ok but the language was unforgiveable. The men that came out to do the driveway did a very good job and have no complaints there. I did not like that the tape they put up was from Ritchfield black top and all the trucks said Lino Lakes Blacktop. I told my neighbors they did a good job but I could not tell or recommend Ritchfield. Maybe I am being a little h****** them but I thot there was a little deceitfulness there. But I am glad it is done. It looks very nice and I no longer have a 4" bump,

Richfield is awesome. I had used them 20 years ago and had the same sales representative when I used this this year. They were responsive, willing to work on the price, provided a high quality driveway, easy to communicate with, outstanding workers and overall very nice to work with. I would HIGHLY recommend them to do your driveway. We had to remove an old driveway, have them re-grade due to water puddling problems and then put down new asphalt. The driveway looks fantastic. Use them, you won't be disappointed

The overall quote experience was fine, however I corrected him 3 times when he kept referring to my neighbor as a he instead of a she. Minor irritant. The quote was over $1000 above the lowest quote I received for concrete so I went with a different company.

I had four different contractors come out to give me bid?s on putting in a 41? x 16? concrete slab. All four contractors also had good reports reflected on the BBB. Dan, from Richfield Concrete / Blacktop was punctual and arrived on time for our appointment. He was knowledgeable and polite. Richfield Concrete / Blacktop's bid was the 2nd highest bid we received. We decided to go with one of the other contractures, who supplied a lower bid.

They did a great job!! The new driveway is beautiful. I wish I would have had it done several years ago. Matt, Tony, Tim, Tom, and several others at Richfield were great to work with. Matt made careful measurements of our large, complicated driveway/turnaround, and gave me a good sketch to show what would be done. The estimate was very comprehensive, spelling out everything that would be done. As an engineer, I appreciate attention to detail. After the initial estimate, we had some other ideas about what we wanted done, and Matt was great about answering questions, updating estimates a couple times, and stopping over to be sure he understood what we wanted. We got several estimates and knew that the price was fair. Weather was challenging in May and June because of all the rain. I had a narrow time window when the driveway could be installed. It had to be done after some big trucks were coming in over my old driveway to plant trees, and before a graduation party. Richfield fit the job in my window, and finished on time despite all the rain. On the first day of pouring, they worked from 6:30 am till 10:15 pm to take advantage of a narrow window of good weather. I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again for something like this, and have been recommending them to friends who need new driveways.

The quote was a little higher than some of the others. We still are getting other quotes.

Richfield concrete and it's crew did an excellent job on my driveway! My job was a little tricky, requiring communication with my city and county, Tom Breen (operations manager) took care of all of it and kept me informed. The crew was very good to work with and did great work! It is very nice having such a high quality contractor like Richfield concrete and I highly recommend them!

Richfield did a great job with this project. Tom, the Operations Manager and scheduler of all work, kept me informed on the scheduling of my project, and was responsive in my many requests for precision in scheduling. The paving crew worked quickly but did high quality work with careful attention to detail. For example, many paving crews leave the street dirty and with leftover asphalt that falls out of the paving machine. The Richfield Blacktop crew carefully cleaned our street, including scraping off all extra asphalt. When you look at the street in front of my driveway, you can hardly tell that my drivewawy was replaced because of how clean the street is. Richfield Blacktop may not be the lowest estimate you receive, and in my case, they were not the lowest estimate by about $300, but I'm very happy with the end result and feel as though the added cost resulted in higher quality work.

The gentleman that came to the house was very professional and easy to talk with. He explained everything well and answered all of our questions. In the end, we did not use Richfield Asphalt and Concrete to do the work. We had three other companies come out to give bids. Richfield Asphalt and Concrete's bid was $800 to $1000 more than any of the other 3 bids we received.

Tom responded quickly to my inquiry for an estimate and provide information about the service, materials and maintenance for the black top. They service delivered was very professional and I was pleased with the look of our driveway. I also appreciated the booklet that included the do's and don't for the care and maintenance of my new driveway. Excellent job!

I was really impressed from start to finish with Richfield Blacktop and Concrete and their crew of 7 guys that worked on my driveway from start to finish. My initial contact was with Tom who provided a detailed and itemized quote and was very knowledgeable and provided insight into how my driveway was originally constructed, how that would affect costs and what to expect. I had gotten several other bids and none of the other contractors were even close in price and whose bids weren't as transparent as Tom's. After calling for personal references and viewing Richfield Blacktop and Concrete's work first hand, I choose to go with Tom. Guys showed up right when they said they would, were respectful of my neighbors and my properties, and cleaned everything up at the end of each day. My trust was really solidified when a layer of frozen permafrost was found under my original driveway. Rather then just going over it and not telling me about it, the guys put the breaks on things, told me we should wait for it to thaw, then dug out the remaining frost and reinforced everything with extra rebar and a thicker concrete pad just to be sure. I paid a little extra for material and labor costs but was glad to do it knowing my driveway would last a very long time. I'm very happy with my experience and will use Tom and Richfield Blacktop and Concrete for my upcoming garage expansion.

These guys were awesome. They showed up on time, removed the part of our old asphalt driveway that was sloping towards the house, and put in a new concrete apron with an extra parking stall. I waited over six months before writing this review so that I could evaluate the work. The quality of the work was great. The slope was perfect, and in the six months since the job was done, and it has rained and snowed many times, and the water always flows away from the house. It never comes near it now. Even better is the fact that now our driveway exactly lines up with the height of the garage floor, so we don't have a big bump there anymore. Also, the concrete hasn't chipped away at all, even with the freeze/thaw this spring, and the color is good too. When we were trying to find out who to have do this work, we looked at Angie's list and had several companies come out and give estimates. These guys offered the most competitive estimate as well. I would pick them in a heartbeat the next time I need concrete work done.

They had to do a lot of regrading of the base to get the proper drainage and water flow for our driveway. It was an outstanding job. It was a race against the calendar to get every done before it was before it was too cold . They managed to get everything scheduled so we were able to have both the sidewalk and driveway done before winter. Everyone that we worked with from the company knew what they were doing and took the time to explain things in detail for us. We enjoyed working with them. Their estimate was not the lowest but provided the best value considering the quality of the materials and the professional crew that did the work.

The service rep was very knowledgeable and the company was easy to work with. However, the quote came in the highest of the 5 companies we contacted for quotes. We couldn't determine a reason why this company was so much more expensive (i.e. better grade of materials, etc). We went with a company that charged us $1900--Richfield Blacktop's quote was $3600. Most of the quotes we received were in the $2000-$2500 range.

Our driveway was old asphalt that was non-existent in parts. It was overdue for repairs. Richfield Concrete took all the old asphalt away, measured in a new concrete turnaround and added a slightly wider top to have concrete in front of our carport as well as the garage so that we can have concrete where we store the trailer. We have a long driveway. They set the forms and poured the concrete all within a five day period. It was VERY hot in July and the crew worked diligently to make sure that it was done well. I really thought that they earned every dollar we paid for our driveway. We are very happy with the work and would use them again.

Had a small job 21' x 21'. that involved ripping out an old driveway and moving alot of soil around. Estimate was slightly higher than some others and definatley lower than some others but I had a level of comfort with the discussions I had with the estimator. They showed up ready to roll, on time, answered all of my questions, and did exactly what I asked for. The crew was fast. I turned my head and the old driveway was gone.The job looks great. They did a fantastic job of grading the new driveway for good drainage. They had also explained to me that because there was so many huge pours that day that I may not get any to pour that day. They got it in fine though. . I would definatley use them again.

I called for an estimate and my call was returned within 24 hours. We set up a date and time for the estimator to come to the house and he arrived on time and listened to what changes i needed to make to the driveway (width) and answered all my questions regarding: length of time to get the driveway done from start to finish (2 day process), when I could schedule an appt. (they were out ten days), how the process was done (I was given a pamphlet which described the process) and how long before I could drive on the new driveway ((I was given another pamphlet which gave me details of how to take care of new driveway, etc.). There were two crews used: (Step 1) one crew did the removal of the old driveway and prepared the grade for optimal drainage once the asphalt coat was applied. (Step 2)The second crew laid the asphalt. Step 1 took approx. 1/2 day to complete - they started at 8:30AM in the morning, several days later the second crew (Step 2) came back in the afternoon and took a little less time to complete the laying and rolling of the asphalt. The entire crew was extremely courteous and very efficient. When they completed the laying of the asphalt they cleaned the paving machine in the street and took great care (they laid a piece of cardboad down before dumping the waste asphalt) not to leave any evidence of waste asphalt in the street or on the grass. I check with my next door neighbor to be sure that she had not had any damage or asphalt left in front of her home and she had not. I would use this company again and highly recommend them to future customers!

I was extremely happy with the service and especially with the sales person. We were thinking about a concrete drive because they can look very nice. The sales person went over some of the pros and cons of concrete versus asphalt, and actually recommended asphalt. The asphalt drive was a couple of thousand dollars less, which was an added bonus. The drive was done on two days, the excavation one day, the laying the next day. Both days the crew was punctual, quick, courteous and professional. I would use them again, but they did such a nice job, I am not sure I would have to!

First of all they were two hours late, and it wasn't Richfield Blacktop who showed up but a small two-man subcontractor operation with a pickup truck and a trailer. I was never told they would have someone else do the work. At the last minute I decided to have them do some additional work, which added about 40% to the square footage to be done. The contractor contacted the office to get a price for the extra work, which was different than the price I got when contacting the sales person who did the original estimate and contract. I assumed the price I got from the sales person would be the correct price. The crew asked me for the closest place to get blacktop. How should I know? Isn't that their job to know that? Once they got the blacktop the two-man crew worked hard and did a very good job. After the work was done, I got a call from the office about the price of the extra work. The salesman had told me $200 extra, the office wanted $600 more. Since it was 40% more blacktop and they were already there working, asking for 50% more than the original price didn't seem right. I agreed to pay an extra $150 over the $200. That brought the total price to $1550, although they wanted $1800. A friend of mine had his whole driveway done (45' x 22') for only $1000 more than that. A month later I got an email saying my invoice was overdue. I emailed back saying I had paid it and had the canceled check to prove it. They apologized and said they accidentally credited another account with my same last name with my payment. Next time I'll just contact the subcontractor directly and undoubtedly get a better price without the middle man and the run around.

This is the end of the third summer for our asphalt driveway from Richfield. It still looks brand new - not a single crack or flaw. I called Richfield earlier this summer to ask about sealcoating and they directed me to their current preferred partner, Minta Driveways. I ended up going with Minta after a process of getting estimates, etc. Having to replace a driveway is a tremendous expense and not a lot of "fun" (like an addition or a remodel). That said, I frequently have found myself over the last couple of years thinking how nice the driveway looks and how surprised I am that there isn't even one single crack (the driveway is about 3 cars wide and about 4 cars long with a slight sweeping curve). I am very pleased to recommend Richfield Blacktop.

This is a great company. The estimate process went very easy. Mark Fishbeck was very knowledgeable on how the driveway was to be replaced. Both the concrete and blacktop crews where friendly, professional, and answered all my questions. The finished project looks great. I could not be happier. I highly recommend Richfield Blacktop and Concrete to anybody that needs their services.
