First of all, our driveway looks fabulous! We had the existing, deteriorated asphalt removed, the foundation evaluated and was to be replaced, if needed, and new asphalt laid. We were totally satisfied with the work when it was all completed and are happy to know that we have their 5-year guarantee to fix the asphalt should there be a problem. The edges are professionally finished and make for a final product that we are very happy with. Even with all of that, what makes us think that we hired the right company is that there was a misunderstanding between what we thought the salesman offered and what the company completed on the first phase (removal of the existing asphalt). The owner, Tom, responded right away to our call and worked with us until we were completely satisfied. He was courteous and respectful in his response and I appreciated his willingness to listen to us. I would definitely hire them again because I know that I'll be treated well and that the results will look great.

Absolutely great! They did an outstanding job and were very easy to deal with. We even made a few last minute changes and it was no problem. The quote was rewritten and it all went according to plan. Tom and his team were professional and punctual from day one. Their estimate was more than fair and honored the Angie's List coupon after giving us the initial estimate. Due to some rough weather, the project was delayed a couple of times, but there was always an open line of communication with us. The project was completed in the time that we expected and the finished driveway looked great. I had some questions after the project was completed and Tom was responsive and quick with answers. I would definitely recommend!

They did an excellent job. After paying a deposit, however, we discovered that the quote was considerably higher than other companies. That was disappointing. But the quality of work seems, so far, to be worth the extra expense.

Wanted to go with a company that was local so called for an estimate. Explained my situation that I am working with a claim against a contractor the city hired. Matt came out to my house on Friday 9/30. Talked in length with Matt about my situation and he said that he would have an estimate send over the weekend. Waited until 10/5 with no reply so I called and left a message. I receive an email about an hour later that it would be a conflict of interest to do business with me and hope I understand. Matt also said he thought his manager contacted me last week stating the conflict. Not a good company to work with - would not recommend. 10/24 - update on review: Tom the manager contacted me on 10/24 and apologized that I had this type of experience with his company. He came out today and gave me an estimate for the damage that another company did to my driveway. Really appreciated the extra care Tom did in reaching out to me to try and resolve my issue. Based on this experience, I will be using them in the future.

Excellent performance from initial call for an estimate to final paving. Salesman called the day after I made the call for an estimate and did detailed measurements and diagram. All personnel performing the work called in advance and appeared 5min - 10 min before the estimated arrival time. They gave thorough explanations as to how low to avoid walking and driving on the new pavements. Cleanup was thorough. No Better Business Bureau complaints unlike the second bidder on the job which had six and tried to put the job off until next spring. Richfield said they could do the job this September and indeed, they finished Sept, 30th.

Starting at the bid process, the salesman wrote up a clear proposal and walked me through specific options for my driveway. Good followup from the sales rep when I had questions or concerns as I considered the initial proposal. I have a large driveway and which wasn't cheap, but their bid came in competitively with other contractors. I chose them over other contractors as they came highly recommended from neighbors and family members who had used them. The concrete pad was poured first and although there was a miscommunication on the design initially, they were very accommodating and made the necessary corrections before the pour was completed. The concrete pad turned out better than expected and the workers onsite spent a lot of time on the detail work making it look great. They were all very professional and it shows in the final result. The asphalt portion went very well also, other than weather delays that could not be avoided. They had a large team working onsite. The workers were also all very professional and paid attention to the details throughout. They even went as far as picking up loose asphalt that had fallen along the edge of the driveway into the grass/dug out area next to the driveway. In addition, I observed them walking behind their equipment as they moved it back to the trailer picking up any dropped asphalt pieces on my street. The finished product looks great and I have received many compliments on the work from the neighbors. I would definitely recommend them and use them again for any future projects.

I am a raving fan! From the prompt estimate and review of the details to the actual work completed, Richfield Blacktop and Concrete did a FABULOUS job. They called us the Friday 4/30 and told us the rebar was being delivered on Monday morning. The day of the work, they showed up at 7 AM, the existing driveway was removed by 8:15 and the new driveway was completed by 1:30. Additioncal care that the team provided - We had 8 sprinkler heads adjacent to the driveway and they carefully protected each of them - talking to the neighbors who had young kids around and reminding them not to walk on our driveway - fixing part of the city concrete gutter that had cracked where it meets our diveway - overall care for our property I give them very high recommendation if you are looking for quality and caring about the customer.

Richfield Blacktop was the only company (out of several that I called) who picked up the phone immediately and were able to commit to a job. They provided a fair price and comprehensive estimate and were understanding when we had to pull out at the last minute. The manager Tom Breen is professional, responsive, and seemingly very knowledgeable. There is no doubt that we will use Richfield Blacktop for our next asphalt or concrete project.

Actually installed the driveway in 2014 and then I had them come back to replace the walkway. I was very satisfied with the driveway. On time, on budget and done very well. When they replaced the walkway, I noticed that the sealant appeared to be streaked and not consistent. I called Richfield up and asked them to come out and take a look. Tom came out and was actually upset with the sealant on both the walkway and the driveway and said he was going to fix. Well, they came out, power washed both and applied the sealant. Now the driveway and walkway look absolutely wonderful. They do stand behind their work and do great work. Would highly recommend them to anyone.

Salesman came on time, very prompt. Had everything setup and ready to go, but had to wait for the City of Fridley to do a curb cut, they were awful and would pay and have Richfield Blacktop do the curb cut if I had it to do over again. Price was reasonable as we had our old single driveway torn up and had a new double driveway installed. Had the edging installed which I would recommend as it is a very clean look. They came soon after the curb cut was done. They removed the old asphalt and prepared for the new driveway. They did an excellent job preparing. Following day they showed up with the asphalt and laid down the new drive, they did an excellent job and took no time to do. There was no mess, nothing to clean up, nothing out of place. A few weeks ago I noticed a slight eruption occurring but it didn't go down, so I called and emailed a message regarding this little defect yesterday. Looked out the window this early afternoon and someone was here to fix this defect. Went out to meet and introduce myself to the gentleman and it was Tom the owner. This was a pleasant encounter and was very happy that he took care of this. I am very impressed to say the least! I have had a great experience with this company and would definitely use them again.

They did an excellent job top to bottom. The salesman, Jerry, was very personable, helpful and not pushy. The installation was done timely. The installation crew was very careful up next to the house. All the edges are perfectly sculpted and the finish is flawless. I appreciate their attention to small details. Quality workmanship all around.

The company kept in touch with me about the status of my project (it was delayed for a couple of days due to rain - that kind of thing). They assured me that they wouldn't attempt to pour the concrete in the rain. However, they DID dig the channel for the sidewalk in the rain, which I thought was pretty impressive. They even used some of the dirt from the sidewalk channel to fill the area where the previous homeowners had laid the "patio," which I didn't expect or ask for, and was pleasantly surprised by. After the job was finished and the sidewalk had cured enough to be walked on, the company came to remove the forms. Initially, there was some debris left in the yard - excess concrete, stakes, nails, etc. - that I wouldn't have expected. I mentioned those things in my review. The foreman got in touch with me and let me know he'd heard my concern on Friday (2 days ago). When I got home tonight (Sunday), everything was cleaned up, and they even replaced some grass outside the channel. I would have hoped that stuff would have been taken care of without my having to complain about it - but after I complained, they were very prompt in responding and did much more than I expected in the cleanup. I would hire them again. Thanks for the sidewalk!

Installed 2 weeks after deposit check was received. Lots of roots and branches left in job site. Plants were disturbs, but not killed. Found a handful of screws when cleaning up after crew left. Joints were a little sloppy. Concrete sloped away from the house nicely. Tom in the office was easy to work with.

Mark could have taken the job and made $5000. I am very impressed with the company's integrity and will definitely use them if I need paving.

Our first contact with the company was thru their web site. We used their Contact form to request an estimate for our driveway repair. After waiting two weeks for a response, we called the company directly. They apologized and said they never received the request and asked if it was okay to send out someone that afternoon. John showed up within the arranged time frame and we discussed options for our driveway which is sinking next to the garage. John explained the pros and cons of asphalt vs concrete. We opted for concrete. We asked for references in our neighborhood which he did not have with him, but did email us names within two days. The quote was for 155 sq ft and the cost was $2650 with another $200 for a sealer. We ended up selecting another firm whose price was about 40% less.
