We were very satisfied and will call them again.
Description of Work: A new faucet was installed in a bathroom and some worn out pipes were replaced. A lack of pressure for the hot water was corrected. A leak was fixed in a basement kitchen faucet. Donnie, the plumber who came, was excellent. He explained what the problems were and gave us recommendations and accurate estimates.

The worker arrived on time and was polite and courteous. The problem was a toilet bowl that wasn't clogged but wouldn't completely empty each time when flushed--the water level was too high. He said he could spend an hour trying to clear whatever the obstruction was but that it might be cheaper to just put in a new toilet. In taking the toilet out, he didn't break the caulk seal. The vinyl floor ripped in two places. I ended up putting in a new vinyl floor as well as a new toilet. Looking at the web site for the info on the Briggs Vacuity toilet that was removed, it said that because of the unique design of the toilet, a snake would get hung-up and that you also needed to run the snake through a pipe in the tank. What the plumber thought was an obstruction seems to have been the natural design of the system--although I still don't know why it didn't flush properly. The plumber offered to tell me what the obstruction was when he disposed of the toilet. I never heard back.
Description of Work: I had a toilet that wasn't clogged but whose bowl wouldn't completely empty out of water. Plumber used a snake, which didn't solve problem--it was getting stuck on something. Plumber claimed it would probably be cheaper to just put in a new toilet. He removed the old one. In doing so, he didn't properly break the seal with the caulk and ripped the vinyl floor in two places. I've used Randy Lane before and been pleased with them. I hope this experience was an aberration.

We called to have a radiator removed and the bathtub drain unclogged. In between my call and the appointment, my husband cleared the clog. They came and removed the radiator but didn't need to unclog the drain. In the meantime, we had discovered the need to have the kitchen sink waste pipe lowered and they started on that, even though it wasn't part of the original agreement. They didn't have time to finish it, but came back the next day and finished up. they were very accommodating, pleasant and efficient.
Description of Work: Removed kitchen radiator, prepped the line in the basement for future installation of the radiator down there, and hauled the bloody thing downstairs. Also removed kitchen waste pipe, replaced ancient one and lowered it for ease of disposer installation.

Surprisingly pleasant experience. I own the home, but have tenants living in the house. The St. Louis Park inspector indicated a leaky pipe on their last visit, so I needed a quick and reliable plumber. Randy Lane & Sons worked around my tenant's schedule, was in and out with a quality fix. All completed with limited hassle, which is priceless since I am not there. Thanks!

Appointment was scheduled for afternoon of February 8, 2008. They left a message asking if it could be moved to one half-hour later, which I confirmed was ok. However, they never showed. I called back after waiting several hours and it seems their office did not confirm the time change with the estimator. Result - no show.

From making the appointment, to the plumber arriving, to the completion, it was great! He checked everything and determined he would need to cut an access through the guest room wall to get at the problem. He made the hole large enough to work but small enough that I can use a vent cover to hide the hole. The leak was around the valve and spout so he removed the old grout/silicone and sealed everything. I haven't used it yet but am very happy with how everything looks.

These guys did excellent. I was out of town and selling my house. I left a key for them, they did the work and cleaned up VERY well. Since my plumbing inspector was super picky, they had to go back and make a very tiny change, at no cost to me. Great work. I'd hire them again.
Description of Work: Replaced kitchen sink drain run, punched through wall to connect new sink vent to existing in-wall vent stack, added additional stove turn off and hooked up gas, installed stove anti-tip device, re-ran hot and cold water supplies to sink, re-routed dishwasher drain, replaced drain run to existing drain gasket, secured water supplies in cabinet correctly. Basically, they un-did everything that I did wrong so I could pass my plumbing inspection.

Donny called us on his way and was very cheery. Looked and listened. We told him we might remodel things, so were looking for a reasonable "for now" fix. He said our "big" problem was old pipes, and that we'd probably have to replace them at some point, but thought he could do a "better than before" fix by replacing the bathroom faucet and connector things. He was up front that it might not work. He showed us the parts of the old faucet and why they weren't working. Also cleaned the twist-off part on the kitchen sink and told me how to do it myself (line up the pieces in a row as I took them off, so I'd know how to put them back on). Both the bathroom and kitchen sinks had much better flow afterwards. The hot water was somewhat improved. We were very happy that they could get someone out right away and were upfront both on the call and the visit about the fees. We didn't price-compare, but felt the prices were fair. Donny kept busy the whole time.
Description of Work: Replace faucet & clean faucet twist-off screen things. Upstairs bathroom & kitchen faucets had poor water pressure and very slow hot water. Downstairs faucets fine. New faucet parts were $130 of total.

I submitted emails to this, and another company; received callback within 24 hrs., on Sunday from Randy Lane. Pete came on Monday, performed several "tests" to determine issue. Did not suspect that reversed lines were causing issues (believed drip pipe inside was also reversed to compensate). Confirmed that hot water upstairs runs out quickly. Recommended a different shower head for improved water pressure (did the trick), installed a "mixer/temp. adj." (not sure of tech term) that allows me to get full vs 79% of tank capacity of hot water (40 gallons) by running full hot and setting temp. when water comes out by mixing with cool (at heater loc vs faucets). Working WONDERFULLY! No longer have to rush through showers and don't run out of hot water. Scheduled 2nd visit for work; would have done at first visit but didn't have necessary parts. Pete explained things well along the way, presented several options to me, and performed high quality work very neatly. Pleasure to work with.
Description of Work: Running out of hot water too quickly; water lines in/out of water heater are reversed on my water heater, and thought that might be affecting it. Low water pressure. New home for me; wanted all this looked at and suggestions on how to correct/improve.

The experience did not start out well as I was told the plumber would be coming the first thing in the morning; 9:00 - 9:30 am depending upon traffic. He finally showed up around 11:45 am. The work performed was great. He removed the old water heater and brought the system up to code by installing a larger vent pipe and new gas valve. He was very courteous and did a decent job in maintaining a clean area, although there was a small pools of water left in the basement from the old unit and some dolly mud tracks left near the door.

My dishwasher wasn't working properly. The warranty plan I have with my gas company first came out to fix it and $200 later told me the problem was not my dishwasher but my plumbing. Grrrrr! Randy Lane to the rescue. I found them on Angie's List and called at 9:00 a.m Thursday morning. They were at my house at 10:30 a.m the same day. The plumber immediately diagnosed the problem, worked quickly and efficiently to complete the job. Very professional. Left no mess. All work was completed in 45 minutes. I will call these guys every time.

We called and left a message on Sunday night, and Al got to the house by Monday before noon. He did some work to try and clear the pipe. He was kind, clear, and quick in his analysis that he would have to go through the wall to replace some of the pipe. He came the next day, spent less than two hours replacing part of the pipe, and replaced several other parts on the toilet. The hole in the wall is small, and easy enough for a friend to fix the next day. Al's a good guy, someone you can really trust, and is clearly invested in doing doing the best job possible.
Description of Work: We had tried to fix a problem with slow water in a pipe leading to the toilet. By the time we were done, the toilet didn't get any water at all. Al opened a small hole in the wall, replaced some of the old pipe, and some parts on the toilet. It works very well.

I had low water pressure in my first floor toilet. Brian didn't even touch the toilet but wanted to see the pipes in the basement. He looked them over and said he needed to replace the galvanized pipe from basement to toilet and a replacement valve is $165. He also mentioned that I should probably replace all the galvanized pipes for approx. $3,000. Install new faucets in the shower with a single handle. Install a tub spout where old one was. Open wall in closet or back wall. Install cover plates for the other 2 holes is $595. Second floor: We had broke the cold water pipe (nipple) and there was not enough threads left on it for us to do ourselves so Brian said he could replace that and install a new vanity for $520. Total $1,280. I thought this was a little high and he said I could go with time & materials but then if anything goes wrong, it would be very expensive. I asked if we could do both and I'd pay the lessor of the two and he said no. I had to pick which way I wanted to go.
