QUALITY CONCRETE INC

Initially, Jim suggested pouring our patio right on top of the grass. Jim said that by putting steel rebar in, there would be no cracks. Instead, I removed the grass and a layer of dirt myself to prepare for the job. The finished patio looked good except that there were not enough cuts made in the cement and the color was bad. The powder applied looked as if it had several random shots of dark red spray paint applied. So, I stained the patio myself 2 months later. In the spring, less than one year later, I called Jim about two large cracks that appeared in the spring, I said I would like to have him take a look at it to discuss how to best deal with the cracks. He assured my he would stop out for a look at a specific date and time. Jim failed to show up. After repeated calls, he finally called back and set up a new time. Again, he failed to show and did not answer or return phone calls. Eventually, I got through again, he said he would call in a couple of weeks and come out, no call, no Jim. This is mode of operation, act responsible and concerned on the phone, doesn't show up, then can't be reached by phone and will not return calls. Four months later, one last attempt, same modus operandi, no Jim, no calls returned. So, I signed up for Angies List today and I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau as well.

The garage floor is fine but the driveway is unacceptable. Jim and his assistant poured the concrete during a rain storm. They did not even come prepared w/tarp to cover it. Concrete was not dry and therefore, did not set correctly from the rain. For the past 10+ months, both my father and I have called Jim expressing our dissatisfaction. At first, he said it was "easy to fix" and that he "would get around to it" but, "to call and remind him in a few weeks." After calling to remind him on several (a dozen) occassions - one time of which he actually showed up to discuss in person - nothing has been done to remedy. Now, he hangs up on us when we try to call him. He is very unprofessional and unethical. I don't want anyone to have to go through this.

We hired him after a neighbor recommended him after having a concrete driveway put in. Jim was available immediately to do the job so while he removed the old concrete patio, he had his two work men help my husband remove most of the stuff from the garage. The crew was extremely fast in getting the work done. They were a bit careless with the bobcat and 'chewed up' more of the grass in the yard than I thought necessary. A shelf fell off of the garage wall when he was removing the old concrete garage floor and damaged some items and ruined the shelving unit...he never acknowledged this damage. They said they would clean up the yard but only did a superficial clean up. They damaged some block edging in a garden and did nothing to fix or clean up that area. I was aware we were getting a 'good deal' and that his bid was lower than another fellow that had done concrete work for us previously. With that in mind, I would use him again only for jobs that I didn't want done to perfection, like our previous fellow had done.
