ProTect Painters of Minneapolis SW Metro

Some things about working with ProTect were great and I thought about giving them an overall A. The finished job looks very good and I am satisfied with it. However, there were a few glitches that could have been avoided. That is why I put the overall rating as a B. We had a miscommunication about part of the job and there were issues with some of the double-hung windows. They were good about working with us to resolve our concerns, which I appreciate. We got 3 quotes for the painting. ProTect and one other were nearly the same price. The third was substantially higher. We used Sherwin Williams Duration paint on the trim and Benjamin Moore Aura Grand Entrance paint on the doors. ProTect responded promptly to emails and phone calls. The painting crew was diligent and worked hard. They cleaned up every day. Rainy weather affected the scheduling and they kept us updated about when they would be able to work. We needed quite a bit of wood repair and that was estimated and billed separately ($1625). ProTect recommended a carpenter and his work was excellent. He was also very accommodating fitting in the work with the painting crew.

The plaster repair and painting of the ceiling and hallway were done well, for the most part. The bathroom however was very poorly done. All the paint edges were uneven (see photos). We notified the sales rep by email and phone, but never heard back. I spoke to the workers myself the second day, who had heard from the rep that we were not happy about the bathroom. They argued with me that they were not responsible for the sloppy paint job. They actually stated that it was that way when they started, and not their fault. They did improve it some, but not enough. My wife and I completed the touch ups ourselves. We never heard directly about our concern from the rep. He simply emailed us the final statement and we paid it. In summary, this company would be fine for plaster repair and painting walls and ceilings with wooden borders. Fine, detailed work however appears to be out of their scope.

Everything went really great. Professional owner and crew, they do really nice work, nice cleanup and fair pricing. Always a good experience - no problems.

It went well. The owner/estimator was pleasant and I thought the workers were clean and did a great job. The bid was reasonable. There were a few spots they missed but happily came back and fixed it. I am happy with the color combination for an old garage. It spruced it up.
