PIONEER MOBILE HOMES INC.

When we first contacted them, Harold, one of the owners, was very cordial and very ready to help us out. We got to the office, and went over a couple of properties that were possibilities to look at. After choosing one, we went to the house to take a look at it. Harold used a butterknife to get in the door, stating that they didn't have keys. First red flag. We decided that we liked the house and would see about getting a loan to finance it. Harold had us write a check for $500 as earnest money so he could place a hold on the house. He said our credit and income would probably get us a loan right away, and we eagerly anticipated his call. Nothing happened, and after a few days we called to check on the status of the loan. He said he was still working on things. After a few more days, still no response. A few weeks went by and finally my husband stopped in to see what was going on. Our file was on the floor in a pile of folders, covered in dust and grime. Obviously, the problem wasn't that we didn't have adequate credit or income, but that it just wasn't pursued. My husband then asked for our earnest money back. Eventually we did get it back, but it took a bit. Funnily enough, the loan we ended up qualifying for in our current home was almost triple the loan we had "been denied" through Pioneer Mobile Homes. (Our current home is also a mobile home.) These people seem very shady to me, and I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them.
