The work was not done well at all and the prices were higher than expected. There was caulking smeared all over the woodwork and the tile was not cut properly. This was specifically evident in the threshold pieces of tiling. He put us off for two weeks initially and clean up was terrible. Also, communication was not good and I never knew when he would be here. At one point, he made the comment, "What do you think, I work from 8a-4p?"
Description of Work: Brian demo'd our main central hallway, which is quite large. He was also supposed to remove, repaint and reinstall the quarter round and all woodwork. He was to only paint the quarter round. Also, he was to remove porcelain tile and replace with new porcelain tile. The work took one person seven days to complete and he promised it would be done in five days. The first day for the demo work a team of two completed the work that day. He also installed a vanity in our downstairs half bath and removed and reinstalled the toilet to allow for the porcelain tiling work.

This was a great experience. Brian did a wonderful job for us. We have dogs and one of our big points was to make sure there were no nails or anything that could hurt them when they went outside during the demolition and construction of the deck. Brian worked extremely hard to ensure their safety. The project consisted of stripping off the old decking. Fixing the footings and supports, leveling the deck and rebuilding the stairs with new supports under the stairs. Brian had many questions for us along the way. He really wanted to make sure that everything was the way that we wanted. There were no shortcuts taken and Brian's attention to detail was great. The deck turned out better than we could have imagined. It is now a very sturdy and beautiful showpiece in our backyard.
Description of Work: Rebuilt a deck for us.

I found Brian through a friend who had used him for storage cabinets as well. I called him and we agreed on a date/time for him to come to my home and assess the job. He showed up when promised and we got to talking. I wasn't entirely sure where I wanted doors and shelves to go but Brian listened to my ideas and together we came up with the perfect design. As he promised, he sent me a proposal via email the next day. The cost was extremely reasonable so I called him and we agreed on a day for him to do the work. Again, he showed up on time and finished the job the same day (about 12 hours). Listening to my concerns that the wood may warp over time and the doors may not close, he reinforced them (this is one sturdy unit!). The additional weight resulted in the need for stronger magnetic latches so we agreed he would return in a couple of weeks to give me time to paint (he would have done that as well but I was on a budget). After two weeks, he called to arrange a time and, again, he was there when promised and fixed the doors. He cleaned up after himself, he was always happy, respectful, and honest. He charged only what he proposed i.e. no surprises. He is a carpenter and does all kinds of remodeling jobs but I put him under handyman because he indicated that he'll do just about anything and does a wide variety of jobs. He offered to fix my garage door opener and look in my attic at a large - hopefully uninhabited - nest I saw hanging from the rafter.
Description of Work: I needed a large storage closet in my garage (7 feet wide, floor-to-ceiling, 30 inches deep). Brian came over to give me a bid and, at the same time, helped me come up with the perfect design for my needs. He built the unit in one day, it's exactly what I wanted, it's extremely sturdy and we love it!
