I got a better working computer then when i started. He saved me, it was important that I got all my information back.

My MacBook pro's hard drive had a manufacturer's defect and crashed with all of my projects and writing on it. I thought I was backing up to the Cloud, but it turns out that files are not automatically backed up to the Cloud. While the drive itself was under warranty, the Apple Store would not attempt to retrieve the data. So, I had the Genius I was working with take out my drive and I took it to PC Doodle, hoping they could retrieve the data off of the drive. John, the PCDoddle "Mac guy", put my drive into his magic machine and told me that it might take awhile to get the files off of the drive, and that the drive could fail at any time, meaning I wouldn't get the files at all. He quoted me a price of $250, which was about $500 less than any competitor had quoted me as a minimum. Because the drive was so badly damaged, it actually took almost a month for the files to be retrieved -- but they were all there! As a professional writer, it was vitally important for me to get my files, no matter how long it took -- however, I think my drive was much more damaged than usual and it took much longer than usual, because when I came in to check on things periodically, the other guys commented on how the drive hadn't completely crashed yet, but how slowly it was downloading. They were very pleasant to me, and in the end they charged me $188, less than I was quoted, even though my drive had monopolized their equpment for almost a month!

Other than doing diagnostics on the laptop, and figuring out how much longer our warranty was for, they did not do any work. Which was our choice.

Initially, they thought there was a short circuit where the cord plugs in. They ended up replacing the motherboard, hard drive, power cord and more. They were prompt, personable, and able to sort out complicated problems. They were very persistent. I'm sure they lost money on me, but they were fabulous about the whole thing.

Pretty awesome. They are a nice neigborhood shop with great customer service. They are not a squeeky clean store from like a chain, but they know what is going on and the owner is in the store.
