Everything went well, and it was a great experience. The company was very helpful in our dealings with the insurance company, it did thorough and excellent work, and they did a wonderful job of cleaning up after themselves every day.
Description of Work: We hired them to repair and repaint several areas of drywall and to inspect for mold. We had them inspect and repair our roof a few months later, too.

Pure excellence! This company is absolutely amazing with excellent communication, expert knowledge, and attention to detail. We've been having issues with our roof leaking during extended rainstorms during the summer and from ice dams in the winter. We've tried everything from roof raking during every single time it snowed to insulating and adding vents in the warmer months. We've had multiple companies out for months, trying to find and fix the issue, all to no avail, hundreds of dollars and hours wasted. It's been beyond frustrating. After calling over a dozen companies from Angie's List, (most of whom did not even bother to call us back or when they finally did, they told us the job was too small) we ended up with a small handful of companies lined up to check our roof. One of those companies was Patrick Miller Construction. Douglas, the rep from the company actually got back to us very shortly after we called, and he made an appointment to meet with us the very next day. Now if you've dealt a lot with contractors, you learn to be very flexible with time, so we were expecting to be hovering around the house for a while. Were we ever in for a big surprise! Douglas was totally on time, on the dot. Not only that, but throughout the entire time we dealt with Douglas, he always, ALWAYS either answered his phone or called back right away, and everything was always on time. He is not only a knowledgeable rep, he actually has a ton of experience actually having worked on roofs. Most sales people are purely that, they don't have the first-hand knowledge, but Douglas totally did. He tried to figure out exactly what was going on with our roof, and had a lot of ideas, but he let us know that the best option would be to re-shingle our roof which was honestly what we thought would need to be done. We also asked him about venting and insulating, so that we could avoid those awful ice-dams, and he had a lot of great ideas. We met with the other companies, and we were just not impressed due to lack of thoroughness, and despite the fact their quotes were all on par or less, we decided quality was the biggest factor. We made an appointment with Douglas for the following Monday. That was of course when the polar vortex chose to hit along with a bunch of snow. Douglas was totally on top of things though. He called daily to keep us in the loop, and a few days later, when the weather finally co-operated, he and his team were there, right away in the morning. They worked super, super fast, it was really incredible to watch. When they got all the shingles removed, they unfortunately discovered that the decking was in terrible condition, with large gaps between the boards (thus the reason we were getting those terrible ice dams). I was on site the entire time and saw first hand the gaps. Now this could have been a rather large extra expense, but Douglas worked with us and we were able to stay within our budget. By the end of the next day, they had the roof complete, along with the insulation and venting. Now this is where the attention to detail comes in. It's the big and the little things. Our house was yellow, and we painted it blue a few years ago. When the decking was added, there's a small line of yellow that shows in between the gray of the shingles and the blue of the house. Douglas pointed it out and said that they will take care of that and will paint that little gap blue for us. They also were out there multiple times a day, using a big rolling magnet to pick up nails, and sweep the sidewalks and walkways clear of debris and snow. Douglas was even out there when they finished, with a big leaf blower, cleaning the sidewalks spotless. It was impressive! What a great group of people!! Not only that, but when they accidentally broke a tiny hummingbird solar light, Douglas made a special trip out, just to buy a replacement. It is things like this, that really show that this company actually cares about its clients, and go that extra mile, just to make sure everything is perfect. I would totally recommend this company. Frankly if I could give them an A+, I would. I have and will continue to recommend Patrick Miller Construction. Honestly, the details matter, and this company pays attention to the details.

We did get an estimate from another contractor, however this price was $3000 less even though the work needed as outlined in the bid was identical. We chose Patrick Miller both due to price and their prompt response to our questions. They also had a large enough crew to be able to complete the huge project in a shorter period of time and scheduled it to align with the weather, thus avoiding any complications presented by rain. The crew was professional and courteous. the clean up appears to be well done, so far we've noticed no nails or other debris. The city inspector signed off on the roof, it looks good, so time will tell how well it holds up.
Description of Work: After a heavy rain we noticed a small leak in our ceiling. We had tried to get several contractors out in 2013 to inspect our roof but no one had time to come out for what they perceived as a small job. I purchased a roof inspection through "The Big Deal". We knew we potentially needed a new roof and the photos taken during inspection confirmed our suspicion. We hired them to tear down our old roof and replace it.

Doug at Patrick Miller Construction was awesome to work with. After calling around to various contractors, no one was willing to come out to do an estimate on our home, and many didn't even return my phone calls. Doug came out within days to view our home and after the insurance check was issued, he scheduled the work immediately. He was a great guy to work with, and very professional. We had a great experience with Patrick Miller Construction and HIGHLY recommend them as a licensed contractor.
Description of Work: Patrick Miller Construction provided us with a free estimate for water damage done by our top floor washer. They then contracted the work, which included mold/moisture testing, carpet repair, trim work and painting.
Douglas was great. He reviewed all the pics and discussed the plan with the estimate. I was so glad to hear my roof overall was in good shape. much of the work I did was to insure the life of my roof and prevent problems. Justin and the crew were friendly and professional and clean. Trustworthy company!
Description of Work: inspection with photos of roof. Installed ridge vent along house and garage. Installed soffit venting underneath over hang. shingles, flashing/shield above bay window where it was leaking. capped chimney.

Bought the deal for roof inspection after a row of shingles came off my roof and I had heard some dripping around my chimney. They came out on time and did a thorough job. Even went beyond my expectations as I figured the replacement of the row of shingles and any caulking would be a separate appointment, but it was taken care of during the inspection. So at the end of it, I had a much better idea of the state of my roof, the most pressing issues were taken care of, and I had a solid estimate for what additional work would cost. All around a very pleasant service experience.

Our roof was damaged in last years hail storm. Patrick Miller Construction replaced the roof, skylights and installed a ridge vent. Douglas, their sales guy, was a pleasure to work with. He was always available to answer any questions. I had problems with my insurance not covering the damage and he spent his time and effort working with the insurance. Overall, they did an excellent job and would hire them again.

Updated review. Liked them at first, but not so much now. We still got ice dams. When the salesman (Doug) came out again to take more insurance money for another project, he said "Oh well you'll always have ice dams, this is Minnesota". Um nooo... that's what we were paying you to remedy. And as the project was being worked on he had said they were adding the amount of vents they thought we needed (2) and if that's not enough they'd come back and fix anything. The ol' used car salesman comments like, "We want you happy. We take pride in our work" blah blah blah. He was very much like a used car salesman. Well, apparently they won't actually fix any of their mistakes because "this is Minnesota". Part 2 of this is they were supposed to repair an inner wall that had ice dam damage, took our money for that in Nov or Dec and now it's March and guess what? No wall has been fixed. I have a few more projects I'd like completed, but will definitely not be having this company do them.

We spoke with the President prior to purchasing to make sure they could do an inspection and report and explained our circumstance and house. He said yes...they could do it for sure. We purchased the Big Deal. Doug scheduled an appointment - we stayed home from work - and an hour before he cancelled. We scheduled another appointment, stayed home from work - and an hour before he canceled. On the morning of the third appointment, again stayng home from work, we received a call from Doug saying he google-mapped the house and it looks steep and he doesn't think he can go onto the roof. He then said the Big-Deal should exclude 2 story houses and it was Angie's List's fault for not specifying. He then cancelled the appointment, but then later called and said they would refund our money...but then asked to come out for free to look at the house. We met Doug that evening. He said the roof had issues (he said he could tell from the lawn) but that it was too steep for him to go up there. He then said he could have a crew go up there - take pictures and do a report but that they were very busy and they could only do it if we hire them to patch the leaking section. He then sent us a quote for $600 to repair a piece of flashing. We have had other roofing contractors come by before and after this appointment and they all were able to go onto the roof - so I really don't get it.
Description of Work: We purchased a roof inspection that was supposed to come with a detailed report however, they said the Big Deal had exclusions that were not listed in the fine print. (2-story houses) and so they wouldn't do it unless we accepted an up-charge.

Everything was great. They very thorough and accommodating when they could do the work since we were going out of town. They worked through the weekend due to rain. They explained what they were doing and made modifications. They did extensive wood underlayment work. They cleaned up everything very thoroughly. We didn't shop around for prices but it was reasonable. We will probably hire them to do interior work.
Description of Work: I purchased a big deal for a full roof inspection and detailed report. They put on a new roof.
This is the second major project which Patrick Miller Construction has completed for us. We continue to be impressed with the quality of their work, attention to detail, and the dedication and skill of their contractors. Phil is the ?Tom Silva? of the company; this man can do anything, and it is always done well. Tom is an excellent worker and a nice guy to boot, and Yuri, who did the siding, is a real craftsman. Douglas deserves special mention; he consistently went the extra mile (or many miles, in some cases) to get us rain gutters and roof material in discontinued or difficult-to-obtain colors, dealt with other issues which arose, and never lost his cool in the process. Patrick came in with an excellent bid for us, and gave us items such as rain gutters (which we had not anticipated having to replace), and an additional window, at cost or very low cost to us; in addition the crew replaced small items along the way that they noticed were in bad shape, such as a hose spigot and water-damaged plywood on the house. The working conditions were not ideal, especially for Yuri, Nick, and Tony doing the tear-off and replacement of the siding. There were challenges in dealing with wasps? nests, bat guano in the soffits, and flower gardens, trees, and the deck pergola which had to be avoided. They were careful to minimize damage to the trees and the gardens, and cleaned up behind themselves. The entire project took quite a bit longer than we hoped it would, due to rain delays, some materials (windows, battens) having to be reordered, and workers being pulled off for other projects. The contract was signed on April 18th; for all intents and purposes the project was finished in early July, and the last item (a small modification to the new metal roof to prevent water from rotting the plywood underneath) was completed today, August 18th. That being said, we will definitely hire this company again and already have a couple of projects in mind. They do a quality job, and give the homeowners what they want, even when it means extra effort and cost for them. We highly recommend Patrick Miller Construction.
Description of Work: Removed old cedar siding and trim on house, installed LP Smartside siding, trim, fascia, and soffits to match garage, including design at peak of roofs, board and batten on front and back; removed shingles from small roof over front porch and replaced with metal standing-seam roof; removed old sliding glass patio door in great room and replaced with two double-hung windows, trimmed, insulated, sheetrocked, and painted to finish off space; built small frame gable roof with matching standing-seam panels over basement patio door; installed new rain gutters on entire house; installed two casement windows in storage attic area to comply with egress regulations.

I purchased a Big Deal for a roof inspection. I spoke with Douglas over the phone to set up an appointment and mentioned that the house was 2 stories tall with a pretty steep pitch. Douglas stopped by for the appointment but told me that because it was a 2-story house he could not honor the Big Deal. After I reminded him that I described the house/roof over the phone when we set up the appointment, he told me that he still likes to come out to see if he can help. He then told me to call Angie's List and get a refund, which I did. Afterwards, I looked at the fine print of the Big Deal and absolutely nowhere did it mention any restrictions due to number of stories of the house. I think many companies on Angie's List are using the Big Deals as a bait-and-switch - they put so many restrictions (sometimes listed in the fine print, but often not) that the deals are only usable by a small fraction of the public. However, they still get to come out and give a sales pitch without providing the service that you actually paid for.
Description of Work: Gave me an estimate for a roof replacement without performing full roof inspection. Did not include estimate for gutter repair/replace, which I asked for.

I called Patrick and he was able to offer me a bid over the phone for the work that I needed done. A week after I received the paper bid, I called Patrick to line up the work to be completed. Patrick agreed and let me know that he was a week out on his schedule and he would complete the work/ within 1-2 weeks. I called Patrick two weeks later, since the work was not complete, and he did not answer or return my call. A few days later, I contacted Patrick again and he answered. He told me he still wanted to do the work but he was busy driving and could not look at his schedule at this time. He let me know that he would call me back when he was done driving. I asked Patrick if he could complete the work within a week or if I should contact/hire another company. Patrict ensured me that he could complete the work and would call me back when he was done driving. I never heard back.

I called Patrick Miller Construction because I trusted his company from a roof replacement job they did for me in October of 2012. Patrick himself examined the problem area in our house on a rainy day, so he was able to actually see the problem I was having as water dripped into the garage. He evaluated the problem from a number of angles and he gave me options to stop the leaking and repair the water damage. Given the complexity of the work that needed to be done I thought his estimate was reasonable. My wife and I were on vacation when the majority of the work was done, so Patrick had access to the house, and kept me updated on the work via text messages and email. This included detailed pictures of the water damage after the flooring and sheetrock were removed. I was very pleased with his roof work in 2012, and I was very pleased with his work on this 2014 project. I trust him, and I would recommend him to a friend.
Description of Work: replaced a window that had been leaking for a number of years, causing water damage and mold to the floor adjacent to it, and to the garage ceiling underneath that room. The work included replacing a section of the flooring in the window room, sheetrock work, exterior and interior painting/staining, and installing kick out flashing around the new window to divert water flow. He also installed a new rain gutter where one had not been before to prevent future water flow issues.

This couldn't have gone better. I e-mailed pictures to a handful of contractors. Of those who responded, Patrick clearly knew his stuff best. He identified what was happening & what needed to be done immediately. He was in contact w/me throughout as there were weather issues that delayed them from being able to start the job. I was assured several times that it was a 1-day job & there was plenty of time before I moved. They ended up replacing 1/2 the roof including everything underneath needed for support, etc. A couple of others proposed band-aid type of repairs that likely would have blown back on me. This went so smoothly that Patrick & I never met face-to-face. Everything was done via phone/email, & I didn't have to miss a day of work for the repair. I had to keep my Realtor & they buyers' agent up-to-date on all of the agreed upon repairs, & they were both impressed enough that they took his name for future jobs. The neighbors across the alley also asked for his name as they're close to needing a new roof. I would recommend them highly.

This was for more an inspection. He did seal around some of the easier things; where the flashing was and he did look around as well. He did a great job and took pictures of everything. The sales rep/contract manager Douglas was delightful. He was professional, knowledgeable, prompt, personable, positive and non-pushy. My daughter was getting married the weekend after the roof installation. Even though this was a stressful time, the fact that the roof was completed so efficiently and expertly was so appreciated. The tear off, the completion of the new roofing, and the clean up was done with such professionalism. They repaired some rotted wood areas on the roof as well. I am not sure if this is always possible, but this was all done within one day!
