The provider came to the house and did the inspection and minor repair per the Angie's list Big Deal, but failed to provide the pictures and report that were part of the 'Big Deal' service contract. The provider did not return messages through the Angies List message service or direct email.

We're very pleased with the job Patrick Miller Construction did for us. Ron Berscheid's crew lucked out on weather and did most of the work in one (long!) day. Soffitt vents and rain gutters/downspouts were installed a few days later. Ron explained the project clearly and in detail ahead of time, and kept us informed of progress until the project was completed. We recommend them highly.

The subs were great. Painter, drywall guys, general contracting, all really good, but none of them work for this company. This company is a complete mess. I would never have them to my house ever again.
Description of Work: The cost is not the total cost, just my insurance deduction. These guys fixed a caved in roof. They left stuff EVERYWHERE in the house. I actually filled a box with the stuff, with a letter stating what was in the box, and asked the job manager to come pick up the box. I left it at the front of my house with a note specifically asking him to sign the return letter, and he never even bothered to do that. I asked at least ten times to have stuff picked up, and it never was.

This is our third major project with PMC. Although the final product was high quality, this project did not go smoothly. We had our first meeting with PMC the first week of March; this simple project was completed the first week of July. Yes, there were some rain days, and we had to wait for road restrictions to be lifted, which occurred in April. Workers were here working for approximately 2.5 days total during that four-month period. We think this company is getting so much business that care was not taken in measuring, drawing the plan (we ended up drawing it ourselves), and dealing with city personnel. We asked repeatedly whether our design would meet city setback requirements, and were assured repeatedly that it would. Turns out, it didn?t, and we had to spend a morning with the building inspector which resulted in a different design than originally planned. We are satisfied, if not thrilled, with the result. If we decide to use PMC again, we hope they will be able to redeem themselves, and take more care with every aspect of the project, not just the building part.

Terrible. We lined up several contractors to come out and look at our deck and Douglas, from Patrick Miller Construction Inc was the only no-show. Unprofessional and looking at more recent Angie's List reviews, not unusual for the decking portion of this company. It makes me glad that they didn't show up because the newest reviews, (D and F) from others showed up after I scheduled. We made special arrangements to make sure someone was home between running kids around and work, going out of our way to accommodate their scheduling and then had a no-show. Very unprofessional. We still have not heard from the company for a reschedule, not that we would make one at this point, and will be careful not to try them again. The only reason we didn't give them an F in professionalism is because they did return the phone call message we left, all be it a week later - should have seen this coming.

Met with the contractor LAST September to have them draw up plans for a ramp and have yet to see the plans. Finally contacted the owner last week and he said he'd get back to me after looking into what is going on...why no communication and NEVER heard back. This is ridiculous. If they don't want the darn project, all they have to do is SAY SO instead of leaving me hanging. NEVER IN MY LIFE have I had so much trouble with a contractor. Will NEVER, EVER work with these people!!!!!!!!!

I purchased the 199.00 200 sq.ft. deck restoration on May 14, 2015. Doug came out on May 19th and said it did not include rails. I pulled up the offer on Angie's List to show him that the offer listed all the things that were excluded. No where did I see rails. I asked how much extra to do the rails. He says $414.00. I said in addition to the 199. I had to pre pay? He said yes. He apologized that there was a miscommunication on Angie's list and said he would call them when he got back to the office. When I said I was not going to pay them to do the rails and that I would do them myself he said "most people don't seem to have a problem with the extra cost". He finally called me 1st of June to schedule my deck wash for June 15. The afternoon of June 15th I called and was told that they are running behind and got reschedule to the 16th. I told him I would not be able to be home. When I did get home- my new white maintenance free patio door was a complete disaster as well as the screen, runners , some siding and my garden hose wheel caddy. I took photos. Doug told me that they would be back to apply the clear coat 3 to 4 days after the wash so I expected them by that Friday or Monday at the latest - no word. So 10 days later I call and leave a message that I want to know when they are coming as I want the job done but also want to protect my house this round. Nick calls back and leaves me a message of how he is going to move me to the list....yay - no real date set. I have an event here on July 12. Since I will be doing the rails myself I wanted to allow some time. After leaving another message Nick called and said he convinced them to come tomorrow morning 6-27-15. So six weeks after I prepaid for this I finally get complete. I did give the two guys the printed copies of the photos showing the damage from power washing. After a half of an afternoon cleaning up their mess and now to finish the deck myself - I truly wish I would have just done the whole job myself and saved the frustration. I do not see myself prepaying for any Angie's List deals anytime soon.

When he came to the house to give me an estimate he said the deck surface was covered by the $199.00 that I paid Angies list, but if I wanted the stairs and railings done it would be an additional $540.00. I asked him how much it would be for the stairs and he told me it would be an additional $80.00. When they came to do the job, they just power washed the surface, and came out the next week to seal the surface. It would have cost me extra for them to use a cleaning solvent, When I use Angies list for a service, I don't need someone coming out and try to charge me $460.00 for the railings.

Even though our project was on a smaller scale than their typical work, the owner of the company (who answered the phone when I called) sent the sales manager out to assess the problem. He sent us an estimate within a week. We agreed to the quote and they scheduled someone to make the repairs. The sales manager came out with the worker to introduce us and to explain what the worker would be doing. They were both very punctual, professional, and considerate. The worker was meticulous and cleaned up everything. We are pleased with their professionalism and the quality of their work.

The guys from Patrick Miller made incredibly quick work removing three layers of shingles from my garage roof and replacing them with new 3 tab shingles. They also vented the garage, which has already made a noticeable difference when working inside of it. They did a great job of cleaning up all the debris, ensuring no nails or other materials were left on the property. Phil (project lead) was very knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with.

I bought a Big Deal for a roof inspection because I am listing my home for sale. Douglas and Alan came to inspect the roof and they were both friendly, respectful, and professional. Douglas inspected the roof and took photos of several issues, one was hail damage. He recommended I pursue a claim with my insurance company. He met the adjuster later that week and it was determined that the hail damage was not enough to file a claim, however the claim adjuster agreed with Douglas that the roof needed to be replaced (shingles). Douglas looked at all the issues from my big, clean attic (which is unfinished) and worked hard to give me a good deal, and even though I was depressed to spend the money, I felt like I was getting a good deal. Unfortunately, the crew that came was not as professional and respectful as Douglas and Alan. They started in early morning and covered the yard with drop cloths, etc. they went all day and into the night because rain was coming overnight. At around 8:15pm, my son and I left to do an errand and came back at 9:45pm. I noticed a bunch of litter near my garbage can which had been moved. I went to investigate and found that a crew member had DEFECATED ON MY RETAINING WALL BEHIND MY TRASH CAN IN THE ALLEY!!! I was livid. They were still working on the roof with headlamps on in darkness. I asked a crew member to stop, because I was so angry and also knew the nailing was bothering my neighbors on a school night at nearly 10:00p.m.. Not speaking much english, he said "10 Minutes, rain is coming". I was completely floored that the roofer had used my property as a toilet, and left all the evidence. At 10:15p.m I went to the store to buy disposable gloves and picked up the litter but not the you-know-what. The next day, I looked around and saw that they had cleaned up pretty well(but not the ****), and was coming back to clean more and finish. My ADT sign was broken, but mostly everything looked good. My neighbor told me that my gutter screens were missing in areas on my gutters. I went up to the attic, and to my dismay all of my things that I had stored up there, keepsakes, etc., were covered in a thick black/brown dirt residue. From the pooping in the yard, to the dirt all over the attic and my things, and then looking out the windows seeing mangled screens and missing screens and large chunks of shingles in the gutter - I was furious. Douglas called and I told him about it all, and he came over and looked at the attic and gutters - I was so angry, I forgot to show him the gross gift his roofer left on my retaining wall. He had someone come and fix the gutters, but did not have time to vacuum my attic. He said he would come on Monday. I had movers coming on Tuesday. I wasn't going to do it myself, I had no time. Alan came on Wednesday and vacuumed it up when he was finished, I showed him the crap. He was apologetic, and said he would call the owner. I have been so upset with this company, and more upset that the owner has not called me. The roofing job put my move off by a week. THeir messes have traumatized me and caused me to reschedule my move. No, I will never use this company again.

Wonderful experience from the first point of contact 12/31/14 until finished install on 1/17/15! Searched Angie's List for top rated roofing companies as my home insurance provider sent notice I would lose coverage 1/31/15 if my roof was not replaced. Contacted Patrick Miller and one other company at 4 pm 12/30/14 thinking I would not hear back from either choices until after the New Year. At 5:30 am New Years Eve I had a message waiting from Douglas Cossette, Sales Manager with Patrick Miller Construction (PMC), asking for an appointment for a complementary roof assessment and quote. He arrived 1/2/15 as promised, performed a thorough assessment, wrote up a quote (guaranteed not change even if they ran into unforeseen issues when the existing roof was off), explained all services, roofing choices, and timing of the work with detail and concern I had all questions/concerns answered. I was so comfortable and impressed with Douglas and PMC, I signed the contract on the spot. No regrets whatsoever! Subzero temperatures and high winds followed and I asked to wait until better conditions existed to install. Douglas agreed knowing I was up against the insurance companies deadline to get the roof replaced by months end. The team arrived to remove the two layers, snow, and moss Friday morning 1/16 and were done and cleaned up by Noon Saturday 1/17. Douglas was at the jobsite many times during the process including bringing his crew lunch on Friday (he said this helps his crew feel appreciated and in return they do a great job). In addition, the owner, Patrick Miller was on site Saturday prior to completion to check over the work and thank me for my business. What an awesome team I chose! This was the third roof I have had replaced as a homeowner. I totally dreaded hiring another roofing company due to unpleasant past experiences. Had I known Patrick Miller existed, I would have had the roof replaced years ago! I can't rate PMC high enough as they need A+'s across all categories. (By the way, the other roofing company I contacted from my Angie's List search returned my call on 1/3/15. They would not be able to come out for an estimate until 1/10/15. Told this highly rated company, I had already signed a contract and would not need their services.)
Description of Work: Removed and replaced entire roof including all new felt, ice & water shields, vents, pipe jacks/boots, perimeter drip edge, custom bent chimney flashing, including city building permit, clean up, and haul away of all debris (one layer of shake, one layer of asphalt shingles, lots of moss, and 6" snow).

Response from Patrick Miller Construction Inc
We strive to do the best we can with all members, sometimes we don't always get it right. The roof appears to be leaking from both plains on two different sides. The roof had soft spots on both plains indicating a likely water intrusion. The roof is covered with discontinued GAF Timberline shadow accent shingles, which have not been manufactured since fall of 2007. The shingles had multiple areas of seal failure on both sides, improper nailing patterns, overdriven nails, misplaced fasteners, inadequate number of fasteners per shingle, leaking skylight with rotten decking. The home has inadequate ventilation, and no starter strips for shingles. The ridge cap was trimmed and cut with deteriorating portions of 25 year GAF royal sovereign three tab shingles, not the manufacturers perscribed 50 year rated triple layer Timbertex. The roof was not installed to GAF Manufacturers standards. Due to the condition of the discontinued shingles, critical misinstallation errors/ misapplication issues, deteriorated decking, and leaking. We cannot in good faith facilitate a product, color matching, satisfactory repair, that can be warranted to correct the existing issues due to the overall condition of the roof.

Excellent service. Mr. Miller showed up for every meeting on time and prepared. His company did what he said they would do, when they said they would do it and how they said they would do it. Mr. Miller followed up personally after the job to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. One specific thing they did that I particularly appreciated was a very thourough clean-up. We have many children in our neighborhood and I was concerned about a child getting hurt on construction debris. Mr. Miller's crew cleaned-up after themselves every day and hauled the debris away at the end of each work day. I never found as much as a single roofing nail in or around the yard after the job.

This was the only contractor that I was able to find (without too much effort) whose range of work included both the concrete work I had done on my house and the wood stairs deck and cover over the deck. Their quote for both the concrete work and the deck was competitive with other concrete and deck contractors who quoted the two parts of the separately based on their specialties, so choosing Patrick Miller was an easy choice based on both the price and the fact that I needed only one contractor to do the entire job. Also every representative of Patrick Miller gave me confidence that they know what they were doing and were going to do the job properly. This confidence did manifest itself in the final product. The replaced concrete in the garage and driveway was done well and sloped perfectly, they repaired all of the damage done to the concrete block wall on the side of the house (some damage due to the removal process, some due to the original construction of the steps when the house was built) for no extra cost and built a well constructed set of wooden steps and decking. Of special note is the cover over the deck (keeps rain off of the deck, is an entrance to the house from this deck) which was built very nicely with a shingled roof. I would highly recommend Patrick Miller for any work of a similar nature to what I had done.
Description of Work: Removed and replaced 12' of concrete (6' inside and 6' outside) around the entrance to a two car garage. Removed a set of concrete steps going up to a door on the side of the house above the garages. Repaired damage to concrete block wall along the side of the garage that was attached to the steps via concrete from the steps being pored into holes that had been punched into the block to attack the steps to the house (by the original home installer). Replaced the concrete steps with a set of wood steps and deck along with a shingled cover over the deck.

See above. I didn't use Miller. I have had no problems with the work done by my chosen vendor in the month since the work was done. However, there's been only light snow, and no significant storms, so only time will tell if the work holds up. The high Angie's List rating, and my experience with my vendor's customer service, give me confidence that they'll honor the warrantees in the contract, if problems arise. If Miller had had the same price, I'd have had to compare the vendors more critically, and if their price had been lower than the vendor I chose, I'd have probably chosen Miller. As far as I can tell, the materials and workmanship would have been comparable.
Description of Work: The salesperson was on time and gave a lot of educational detail on what would be done to replace my leaky roof. However, it was much more expensive than the contractor I chose. Both were highly-rated on Angie's List. I asked the Miller salesperson if there was a way to do less and charge less, but the price was barely reduced. After I signed with the chosen contractor for thousands less, I told the Miller salesperson that they were too high, and he offered to "take another look at it," and wanted to know what the competitor's price was. By then, of course, the contract was locked in. I could not get a clear statement about what exactly Miller would change in materials or services to lower the price. I had the feeling that Miller was selling me a Cadillac job that included expensive "quality" than it was possible to identify specifically. The salesperson several times referred to their technique of building a water runoff diverter above my chimneys because they were required by code, but my chosen vendor said that code in my location didn't require them. So, I felt this was misleading, and would be an unnecessary cost. I only wanted and needed a Chevrolet job. That's what I paid for and got with my chosen vendor.
