This is the largest project that we've done and it went the smoothest. Orfield was extremely detailed and organized. We always knew what was going on and what the costs were before any work was done. They had wonderful design and layout ideas that have transformed our home. We love it!

It went BEAUTIFULLY. This was hands-down the best experience I've had with any contractor. We got three estimates, and Orfield did have the highest bid by a couple hundred dollars -- but they also provided the most detail on what they would do and how they would do it, which made me comfortable. This was probably a fairly small job for Orfield, but it was a big job for us, so I wanted to go with a company I could really trust. In the end, they wound up not using some of the $$ they had budgeted for allowances, so we were credited back some of that money from the original estimate -- so they turned out to be the least expensive! My experience was that they are very honest and have a great deal of integrity. Amy, the project manager, was extremely professional and very thorough in developing plans and an accurate timeline. They were never late (nor were any of their subs), the job got done exactly on time, and they were pleasant to work with in every way. I could not be happier with the quality of the work. I highly recommend them!

They were very prompt, professional and did an excellent job. Everything went just as expected and they worked very well with other jobs occuring at the same time.

They do their work in a design and build process. They came out and did the initial measurements and look around and now it is up to us to hire them for the design part. They were very friendly and they seemed very interested in the design. They even took a few photos of our home so that they could get a feel for the design. We have not decided whether or not we will use them for the project.

They had a great proposal, we just weren’t willing to spend that kind of money. It was a great experience. They found a water leak and that would have cost at least half of the cost. It was a huge problem. They were up front about it and honest. They were good to work with. They told us they couldn’t give a guarantee that they would be able to solve the water problem. Without having assurance we didn’t go ahead with the work. We would consider them in the future.

They were very responsive and a well designed website. It was easy to get information form them. They were not pushy at all. They did have great ideas for design. They were however expensive in their bid.

Highly recommended! This company truly takes a project management role. They oversaw every aspect - all the painting, electrical, inspections and even advised on when to have our closet installers come out so the construction would run smoothly. Everyone on the site was friendly, punctual and respectful of our home.

In a word, it went fantastically. There were two basic phases to the project. The first was designing the new bathroom and the second was the actual construction. Orfield excelled at both. Ron Orfield made us a set of plans that were far better than any of the other we had solicited. There were several small design problems that he solved quite creatively leading to a very nice overall design. Throughout the construction phase, Orfield and their subs paid close attention to details. Everyone was professional, prompt and most importantly, competent. As expected, a few small problems were encountered once the demolition was complete. For example, the waste for the new toilet could not be routed as planned since a floor joist was in the way. A new and minimally disruptive plan was hatched that works very well. Their attention to details in both the plans and construction has produced an excellent final product. The project was completed exactly on schedule and ended-up costing almost exactly what was bid.

They did an excellent job to co-ordinate with us and check our availability. They explained what they were going to do, but the extra work was not covered when they provided an estimate, and I was not aware of the extra cost. They took some time to complete the work but finally they did clean up the place and finished the work tidily. They were responsive and punctual.

They didn't seem to listen to what we had asked for. The quote they gave us was for an arrangement we said we specifically didn't want. I would not recommend them.

We found Orfield on Angie's list. They came initially and explained their philosphy in remodelling. Orfield has really good project management. After giving us a ball park estimate, Orfield typically charges $1,000 to do the detailed design. This is fair as this takes a lot of work on their end and this allowed us to get a detailed estimate on what this would cost. We felt Orfield did a great job on a very detailed estimate. Unfortunately, we ended up deciding not to go forward with the project. A lot of work was required to do what we wanted and we decided not to do it a this time. I think Orfield really has a great team and would consider them in the future.

Very professional and responsive organization. At the first meeting, they arrived with a draftsman who was able to draw a sketch on the spot of the idea they proposed. Once the contract was signed, they were very diligent in scheduling the subcontractors, and worked with, and around, our summer travel plans. Finished project turned out very nicely. Subs were all nice professional folks.

They were very upfront with the cost. They were easy to work with. They worked with us very well. They had great ideas. The project manager did a wonderful job. It was a wonderful experience. They were very conscientious to our living areas Their sub contractors were very good. They got done in the time that they thought that they would.

Pleasure to deal with. Very courteous. Workers were prompt and punctual. Work was completed 2 weeks early. Work was of extremely high quality. The only negative is their assumptions as to allowances for items were consistently low so we ended up $15K over the estimate.

This was a big job and we were thrilled with Orfield from the design stage to the follow-through after the work was completed. We were constrained by the existing layout and Orfield came up with the best design and maximize usable space and place the bathroom in our desired location, far superior to the other design and build firms who provided design ideas. They did a great job protecting the downstairs from debris and damage. Neal was the head carpenter and he is very personable and patient in providing updates to us on nearly a daily basis. The design required some elaborate structural work and the Orfield carpenters did a masterful job. We were also thrilled with all the subcontractors who Orfield use consistently. Every aspect of this project was done professionally and to perfection. Laura Orfield runs a tight ship and provided numerous great design ideas as we move through the project. Orfield delivers great value for the dollar and I would highly recommend them.

Laura and Amy came out and measured the spaces, and provided a design and an approximate estimate. Both ladies are courteous and professional. They had very good suggestions. Their design was based on not altering existing structure. Though the design was good, we think some modifications are needed. Due to the huge estimate, we decide not to do it this year.

I met with Laura and Ron once. They took measurements and asked questions about our plans. They walked me through the process, with each of the phases. Two days later I received drawings via email of plans for our bathroom. We loved the plans, but opted to go with a remodeler who had done work for a friend of ours, who specializes in bathrooms, and who fit our budget a little better.

Both the workers were timely, professional and explained the work and work progress. Inspections were completed without objections, by building inspector.

Scheduled work and completed as indicated. Found to be straight-forward, personable and willing to discuss process as went along.

Not well, Orfield was only available from 8 AM to 5 PM and wanted to the design over the phone and through E-Mail. Orfield resisted each request to visit the existing kitchen after the first visit. E-Mail was lost and contact was lost for many weeks. Orfield was not able to address issues of removing a soffit, a header and keeping the ceiling same height in the bumpout as the existing ceiling. No estimates were available about moving each would cost. No visit was provided to explain the final plan. We did not select Orfield for the build. We use Plekkenpol.

We are thrilled with how our kitchen/first level turned out. Ron Orfield and Amy Brogan truly listened to what we wanted to achieve with our kitchen area and we could see this reflected in the initial plans they drew for us. This was one of the main reasons we choose to work with them. Amy Brogan managed our project and she was always very responsive and understanding. We expected a lot of communication on what was happening or not; we were upfront with this expectation and Amy worked hard to meet this expectation which helped tremendously. As all projects go, there were a couple of hiccups which I felt Orfield handled very professionally. I feel they are competitively priced based on the quality of work that they do. We loved working with their employees and subcontracters. Everyone was very courteous and respectful, and they stayed pretty much on schedule. We are very satisfied with the overall project. In fact, we have already contracted with them to do another project!

Estimator showed up right on time and was very professional. They were somewhat pushy with their ideas on how the project should be done, which ended up adding a lot of cost to the project. Bid came in at 20k(!) over what the next most expensive bid was. Ended up going with a different bid.

They were responsive, arrived on time and were good at discussing our needs. They provided a quote to us within a few days, but their quote was 40K more than the other three we received. Their time line for beginning the project was also months after the other contractors. Maybe they overbid because our project was too small or they didn't have the time to fit it in their schedule.
