Our project included the demolishing and removal of the old kitchen, design of a new improved layout, installation of ceramic tile, custom cabinets, granite countertops, tile backsplash, reconfiguration of the electrical including moving the stove, adding additional receptacles and completely new lighting scheme, updating plumbing to support the installation of an under-mount sink, and the appliances (we purchased appliances separately but the guys installed them as part of the project) We called and made an appointment for about a week into the future to have someone come out and talk to us about our options. Mark Halberg arrived on time and set to work on measuring our kitchen space and asking questions about our needs and wants including what kind of budget were thought we might be working with for the project. I indicated we wanted high quality finishes but did not want to break the bank. Mark agreed to but together a proposal and we had it back to us within a week including several renderings and a line by line estimate of the project. After some minor adjustments we signed on and made arrangements for the project to start in about three weeks and with the understanding it would take approximately six weeks from the first day until completion. On the day the project began a whole crew of guys led by Project Manager Rob descended upon our old kitchen and in a matter of a little over a day it was no more and then they began to build out the new design including the framing of what would eventually become our new peninsula and breakfast bar. I don?t remember exactly but as I recall within about 10 days to two weeks all the rough in work was completed including new electrical, HVAC and plumbing modifications as well as the required inspections. From there things continued to progress from the new floor and sheetrock to the installation of the new cabinets. New countertops were installed along with a new tile backsplash. Finish work continued with paint, trim, new light switches and fixtures. Final touches were completed along with the installation of the appliances and our kitchen was done. We were always kept aware of the status of our project and all the members of the crew were incredibly wonderful to work with and have around the house. They took such great care of our property and provided superior results in all aspects of the project.

Initial appointment setup was quick and easy. We had to reschedule our initial appointment since estimator had car trouble and had to reschedule. Gave Ontime a B in this category since scheduler gave estimator then wrong contact number so I never got a call saying they had to reschedule. Instead I called ontime to ask why they were late and they finally connected me with Mark. He was very sorry. In any case, we finally met and he walked through the entire kitchen asking us about the types of things we were looking for. He generated a quote within a week. Price was competitive. Simply went with another contractor who could provide custom cabinets for around the same price. I will contact ontime again for other projects. Thanks Ontime!

They came and did an estimate. We met in person at their office to look at products. They came back to our house to answer more questions and allow us to meet the person we would be working with.
Description of Work: We got an estimate for our basement and bathroom. They were extremely professional and responsive. We were between them and one other contractor. Although we didn't ultimately go with On Time Contractors, Inc., we highly recommend their services.

Pascal and his colleague showed up on time and were friendly and professional. We had purchased an Angie's List coupon for an estimate to remodel our attic. I have some very specific ideas about the attic, and am eager to have it finished so that we have an additional retreat space in our home. They were more interested in remodeling our basement, and offered to sell us another $50 "coupon" to have them provide an estimate for our basement while they were here. Their logic was sound -- we'd get more finished square footage out of a basement remodel -- but it was a bit of a curve ball to suddenly start thinking about our basement, when we thought we were focusing on the attic. While our interactions were all very positive, ultimately I felt as if we were being pressured into a basement remodel when we weren't sure we wanted one. Then, when we talked to a second contractor about both the attic and the basement, I came to feel that On Time Contractors was not only pushing a basement remodel, but a very specific design. It seemed that they have a general basement design that they adapt, slightly, per house. Whereas with the other contractor we seemed to have endless options -- it was more of a relationship where they asked us how we wanted to use the space and then suggested different designs to meet those needs. Ultimately we chose not to go with On Time Contractors, despite their professional behavior and good price, because we didn't feel we would get the remodel we really want.
Description of Work: Measured space, drew basic design, discussed process and prices.

Thank you for your feedback. I'm glad that you got what you wanted. Yes, we do tell to customers that finishing the basement is less expensive than finishing the attic, about 40% less for the same area. Thus I gave you a recommendation to finish a basement instead of the attic. I do give design layout ideas to customers based on popularity of other designs that we've done for other customers. Also most of the time the main consideration of the design is a location of the bathroom and in order to reduce the cost of the construction I recommend to people how they can accomplish what they want without breaking the bank. Overall, we received some great information from this company. The gentlemen that visited our home were very nice, and we were impressed with the organization and detail of the quote documentation they provided us. My only gripes, are the pre-consult correspondence was confusing at times, scheduling of this appointment took a lot of correspondence, and the appointment started 1/2 hour or so late due to traffic issues encountered (ironic due to the company name).

After some initial confusion communicating with the woman who answered the phone line, we made arrangements for Pavel to come out and look at our basement. Pavel and the partner who came with him were on time and very professional. He was thorough. He asked questions, and answered mine. I have no doubt that he does very high quality work... he brought along a photo album of other work and talked me through each step of the process. I appreciated that. Most of their work is major redesign/remodeling and (as I discovered when I called to schedule the visit) they don't take jobs under a certain amount. (I think $20,000 but I'm not sure.) Perhaps I didn't read the fine print - this was one of the first Big Deals after Angie's List started doing them. At any rate, I was in the "exploratory" phase of thinking about a basement remodel, and while I appreciated their time and their willingness to share expertise, I ultimately determined that we weren't ready for this level of work (financially or in terms of our plans). I have no doubt their work is stellar, and they were very professional guys - I liked them. But they are expensive and a little out of our league. If we are ever in that budget ballpark and ready to remodel, I'll certainly get a quote from them again.

Thank you very much for your review. I would like to add one comment: if we were the most expensive company that finishes basements, we probably would not be the Co that finished more basements in the Twin Cities than anybody else. I personally managed construction and designed over 500 basements. For other AL's members' reference to finish a basement costs $30+ per sq. ft. to start, if it's 800 sq. ft or more. If the area is less it's more expensive per foot. Materials account for $18-$20 per sq ft, the rest is labor. To add a full or 3/4 bath will cost $15,000 if plumbing is roughed in. If it's not, add $5000. I hope after other members read this response they will have a better understanding of the costs. Pavel Sakurets Project Manager Lumber

We provided 2 sets of plans for this customer: one for basement, 2nd for attic for $100. It was through Angie's List Big Deal promotional campaign. It cost us over $800 to produce the plans, while this customer paid only $100 We decided not to participate in such promotional campaigns any more because people have very high expectations for $50 plans and very few of them even read what says in the promotion. Thank you for your feedback. We designed over 3000 basement projects and we understand that sometimes what customers tell us is different from how we understand it and it’s not possible to catch all customers’ ideas and needs within 1 hour meeting on large projects. Complicated designs like yours require at least several meetings to produce a good design plan, but we hope that $50 that you spent on your design was a good investment and you learned things about your house that you didn’t know about before. We wanted to get ideas and an estimate for our basement to do a low-cost, quick remodel just to make it usable. We got many ideas but the project was much more costly than we wanted it to be and would have been much more involved than we were looking for. Great ideas but beyond that we felt it wasn't what we were wanting to take on at this time. If you have a full remodel in mind, these folks are for you. If you are looking for minimal remodeling, this might not be the best fit for you. Having said this, for $50 we did get our money's worth with ideas that had not occurred to us!

Thank you for your feedback. For all other members that read this, please, if you can provide written specifications of what you want and give them to your contractor. If you have a written list of things that you want done, we will include it in the proposal. Even though we try very hard to document everything a homeowner wants during initial meeting, it is possible that after several meetings with contractors things get changed due to recommendations that contractors make or other reasons. That's why we provide as many details as possible in our proposals and ask homeowners to visit our showroom at 809 Main St, Hopkins to make sure that homeowners get exactly what they want (DOORS, TRIM, CARPET, TILE, LIGHT FIXTURES, PLUMBING FIXTURES, COUNTERS, HARDWARE, WINDOWS, SIDING, ROOFING, STONE, ETC) Pavel Sakurets Project Manager

They were very professional and took the time to walk us through what needed to be done to make our basement comfortable and meet the current building code. They were very patient and also took time to discuss other things that might come up during the project and made suggestions regarding improvements to our drain tile system that should be made before they - or someone else - began the project.

Thank you for your response. Before we set an appointment with potential customers we pre-screen them to make sure that we are the right company for a project. If customer has unrealistic budget for a project, we are very upfront with them, because we value customers’ and our time. It’s unfortunate when customers who find us through AL, do not read reviews and make assumptions about our operations. Our minimum project requirement is $15,000 or more. Typical projects that we work on, range from 20k to 200k. Occasionally we build large homes, like we are building one now on Eagle Lake for $3 million. Pavel Sakurets Project Manager
We had an outstanding experience from On Time Contractors. We had been working with another design firm for months without much progress and when that other contractor's final price came back a lot higher than the original estimate, we decided to get some comparable quotes. We looked on Angie's list just to see if our contractor was in the ball park. On my first call to Pavel, I liked him immediately because he was so honest and up-front about what the costs and time frames would be for this project. I just didn't trust that the other contractor was giving us a fair deal and I immediately felt better with On Time Contractors. Pavel came to our house with an assistant to do the measuring. We discussed our bathroom plan and it wasn't long before Pavel pointed out some issues with the plan from the other guy... Code and design issues. He made some recommendations that I really appreciated. When the bid came back, we were very pleased that it was thousands less than the other guy even though we added some pricey options, like making the bathroom much bigger and moving the washer and dryer. In a few days, we met with Pavel in his office for a couple of hours. Pavel sat with us and drew up the design that is, by far, amazingly better than the previous design. Many considerations were solved in the new design, such as keeping my laundry chute with my washing machine, and having an entrance that worked out with the rest of the finished area. We worked out ALL of the details in those 2 hours. The showroom had examples from a few cabinet builders so we were able to make our selections easily. Pavel was so direct, providing (or looking up) the exact price of each item as we selected it. It was SO refreshing to work out the budget one item at a time like that. The other contractor kept everything such a mystery that we never had an understanding about how our choices were impacting the price. At one point, Pavel even showed us the lower level of his showroom, which is a work-in-progress, with a fabulous example of the shower with a 1/2 wall and bench similar to what we decided to put in the final design. Luckily, On Time Contractors had an almost immediate opening for us and we were able to start the project a couple of weeks later. When the work started, I was amazed and delighted with the care they gave to my house. They masked off all of the carpet and flooring from the door, down the steps, to the work area with plastic. They built yards and yards of plastic walls with zipper entrances to separate our living area from the work area. I really appreciate the time they took to ensure our house was protected because this was a very big job, and very dirty at times. The area we had to work with had a lot of challenging requirements. We ended up moving the bathroom door and creating a new hallway under the stairs because of cabinets in an adjoining room. We created a platform for my washing machine because the floor was not level and we didn't want to re-level the whole laundry room. The floor in the bathroom area was REALLY unlevel because it was located right over our old drain, an area 4-6 inches lower than the next room. I was shocked how much concrete was used to get the floor level, but the results are beautiful. There were a number of days that were really shocking... On the first day of real construction, when the new dividing wall went up, it was SO fun to finally see the project underway. One day we came home from work to find the bathroom floor, the laundry room floor, and the adjoining sewing room floor completely broken up. Many, many feet of deep trenches in the cement with piles of dirt all around! It is completely amazing and wonderful how the plumber figured out how to work all of these new pipes into a logical layout with very little disruption to the rest of the house. I admire the waste water design that places a clean-out under my new laundry-folding table. That one new wall dividing the new rooms contains many pipes for the water supply and waste lines. A ton of fixtures amazingly supplied in one tiny wet wall! With all of this destruction, the project area was picked up and very clean each day. Virtually all of the workers and subcontractors were hard-working, polite and tidy. We splurged on marble tile throughout and we were so pleased with the care and craftsmanship that went into cutting each tile perfectly. One employee in particular, Igor, was really outstanding. He was so hard-working, careful and thorough in his work. He did all of the beautiful tile work that we will enjoy for the rest of our lives. Like any big project, there were minor issues along the way, but the project manager and Pavel were very receptive to what we wanted. I am 100% satisfied with the results. The project was estimated to take 8 weeks, but it ended up being more like 10 weeks. They really took care of us and now we have a beautiful "dream" bathroom. We couldn't be more pleased.
Description of Work: This project converted a large basement laundry room into a 3/4 bathroom and a smaller laundry room in a 1949 home that was not roughed-in for a bathroom. Space under the stairway was converted to a new entrance hallway for the bathroom and a closet. The job consisted of the following: -Providing design consultation and drawings. -Masking off the project area and with protective plastic -Breaking concrete and running new waste piping for a 3/4 bath, new floor drain, laundry tub and washer. -Moving existing gas, exhaust and water lines to improve head-room in the new design. -Moving the washer and dryer to new locations and installing a new washer box for water discharge. -Installing a new electric subpanel for all the bath's wiring. -Providing and installing all of the electrical, hvac, and plumbing (rough-in to fixtures) for the new rooms. -Pouring new cement to level an uneven floor. -Replacing an old window with a glass block window. -Insulating, framing, sheetrocking, taping, and smoothing walls to blend with existing walls in the adjoining area. -Installing marble floor tile diagonally including in-floor heating. -Furnishing and installing a 5-foot high quality Cherry wood vanity with glazing finish -Furnish and install granite vanity counter with undermount sink -Building a custom concrete shower pan with rubber membrane, half wall, and bench -Shower tile is marble including a shampoo nook, bullnose threshhold, accent tile with border, granite bench, and towel bar -Installing a mirror, tp holder, towel bars, and towel hooks -Installing doors and trim for bathroom and new closet under the stairway. -Priming and painting all walls, ceilings and trim -Wiring and installing a built-in ironing board in the laundry room -Building a platform for an uneven floor under the new washer location and laundry tub. -Providing dumpsters, permits, and clean-up

Member, this is one of the longest and one of the most detailed report we ever got! Thank you very much for spending time writing it and posting pictures! We really enjoyed working for you. We wish that every customer who found us through Angie's List could spend 5 minutes and write a report about experience that they had after project is completed. However we do understand that customers are busy and sometimes they forget what they promised, but it really helps other customers to make better decisions who to hire if people post reports like you did. Once again, OnTime Contractors performed in an outstanding fashion, and we are enjoying our "new" shower. For us, and for anyone who does business with a contractor, it is comforting to know that there are companies that stand behind their work. OnTime Contractors is one of those businesses. There was never a question of OnTime Contractors not honoring its warranty, and Pavel went the extra mile to ensure that the problem was resolved to our satisfaction. It's great doing business with a company you can trust. Thank you OnTime Contractors!
Description of Work: In 2010, OnTime Contractors completely remodeled our first floor bathroom, which included installing a beautiful walk in glass tiled shower. The company did an excellent job, and my wife and I were quite pleased with the work. Unfortunately, in 2011, we noticed the shower ceiling began peeling, and informed Pavel, our Project Manager, of the situation. OnTime Contractors went above and beyond what we expected. After replacing the ceiling twice, at no charge, Pavel advised that the only permanent solution would be to extend the glass tile to the ceiling. Again, OnTime Contractors offered to perform the repair work, including providing the glass tile, at no cost to us. My wife and I requested that some tile be placed outside the shower, and Pavel agreed, charging us only a minimal fee of $250.00 for the additional work & tile.

We began by consulting with an architect recommended by Mark. Once we had plans in hand, Mark helped us make the changes we needed in order to stay within our budget. Work started within a few weeks of our first meeting. During the project, all of the folks involved were obviously invested in doing their best work. As things progressed, the framers, electrician and plumber all consulted with me and offered suggestions that would either save some money or work better, or both. This was a big project. Looking back on it, I'm still amazed that we got it done in the short time frame that we did. I would have no hesitation using them again.
Description of Work: I needed to turn a 1 1/2 story house with two bedrooms and a 1/2 bath upstairs into a 2 story house with 4 bedrooms and a full bath upstairs. I needed to do this fast, and on a shoestring budget, cutting costs by doing most of the finish work myself. On Time Contractors came through on every point.

The reports on Angie's List looked pretty good for On Time Contractors, so we thought we'd speak to them about doing our complete kitchen re-model and renovation. We phoned them in early January 2012, and Mark showed up on time for the initial appointment to discuss the project. During the 90 minute meeting we explained our goals and budget for the kitchen project ($45K - $55K). Mark talked about their company's approach, and explained how they were a good fit for the job. I showed and gave him a clip file we'd developed containing reference images of a few dozen kitchens we'd seen in magazines and the web that we liked the look of, to make his job designing the kitchen a little easier. We ended the appointment by agreeing that Mark would be in touch "in about one week" with a proposal for us. Well a week or two passed, and we figured they were just getting busy and bogged down, so we waited some more. And waited. Eight more weeks passed, so I decided to phone the company to find out what was happening, and to see if everything was okay. The company owner answered the phone, so I explained to him that we were checking in to see what had happened to Mark and the proposal. While the owner did not apologize, he said that they'd been very busy and that he would have Mark phone us the very next day. We were disappointed (but at this point, no longer shocked), that neither Mark (project manager), nor Pavel (company owner) ever called or emailed to discuss status or next steps for the project, nor to simply decline the project as professionals with something like, "this project is not a good fit for us -- we prefer higher end budgets" (or whatever explanation applied). We were angered that we On Time Contractors wasted 2 -3 months of valuable project time. Either they did not have the professional decency to let us know that they did not want to proceed, or, their communication and organizational skills are just that poor -- in either case it's probably a very good thing we did not proceed to give them the job. We've always had excellent and long term relationships with contractors and service providers, so it was a real eye opener for us to come across a company which behaved so differently.
Description of Work: We asked On Time Contractors to do a complete remodel and renovation of our kitchen. What happened next was very surprising and disappointing -- read on.

Response from On Time Contractors Inc
I am sorry that your experience with On Time Contractors wasn't what you had hoped for. As the estimator you met with, I dropped the ball. You note that Pavel expressed how busy we have been and this is true, but it is no excuse. We have taken steps to limit the number of estimates per week to maintain the level of service our reputation has been based upon. Again, I am sorry that we didn't meet your expectations and we have taken steps to ensure that we maintain the quality of service for which we are known. Mark Hallberg Estimator/Design
First of all, this is the second time in our lives that we have had a kitchen remodeled. The first time was in a home we owned in 1974 and I had forgotten all of the choices that were necessary. From choosing appliances and slabs of granite to the lighting, cabinets, flooring and sink. So many choices and you just hope that it all turns out perfect. Not for the faint of heart! Well, from the start, we had the design work of Mark Hallberg and he got us going in the right direction. Rob Odden turned out to be our project manager and coordinated everything from start to finish with professionalism. The flooring was removed as well as the soffits and all of the old cabinets. We had the back door replaced and two windows as well. The electrical was completely done and inspected. (All new) A shout out to SP Electric, Inc. and Aaron who were subcontracted by Pavel Sukurets. Great electrical work! All of the workers for Pavel and Rob had their own specialties and were professional. They did a perfect job! I cannot remember all of their names, but MANY, MANY thanks to you all and the great job you performed. Dimitri, Vladimir, Alex, Igor, etc., etc. Rob even took my calls on his cell on a Sunday I recall, to answer some questions we had about the build. Rob became attached to my dog, and McCoy (the Nova Scotia Retriever) was very sad to see him go the last day! We even hired Alex the painter to do our whole upstairs later and he did the job to perfection. (A lot of our friends will be contacting you Alex) I cannot say enough about On Time Contractors, but I can say this; If you do not let them work for you, you'll never know how great they are! A heartfelt thanks again guys Kim and Chris Munson PS. Add us to your huge list of referrals please!

They were very punctual for all meetings and all work. They gave a fair estimate.
