WE DO NOT WORK ON PROJECTS BELOW $30,000. We only finish/remodel basements and build custom energy efficient homes. Yes, we can build you a deck or addition only if we finish your basement. It is very easy to work with us; after you hire us, you come to the largest showroom in the Midwest, choose finishes for your project (cabinets, granite, tile, fixtures, flooring, etc.) and we deliver all the goods and install them. No need to go to multiple stores to buy products. We make it into a ''one stop shop''. On Time Contractors, Inc (OTC) is a fourth generation builder/remodeling company. Our mission is to provide affordable quality craftsmanship and outstanding customer service along with the timely completion of all projects. We pride ourselves in providing high quality labor and materials while offering full two year warranty on (remodels, plumbing, HVAC, electric) and 10 years structural warranty. Please feel free to contact us with comments/ questions or set up the time for a FREE estimate and design consultation or visit us at our showroom/office at 1920 Central Ave NE, Minneapolis MN 55418. Please note: OTC is not accepting or estimating jobs under $30,000. Visit us at www.OnTimeContractors.com for special offers and coupons. Typical basement finish of 800 sq ft with one bath, bedroom and family room in homes built after 1980s costs $40,000. In older homes where floors need to be broken down to run plumbing for the bath and install egress window 800 sq ft basement would cost $50,000. We do not estimate/take/build projects if a budget is below $30,000
The quality of the end result exceeded our expectations. The kitchen looks great. They did a nice job matching the ceiling between the rooms, redoing the ceiling finish to meet their quality standards. The finish carpentry was excellent with a few adjustments to get everything to fit very nicely. The only area for improvement would be better communications. It would have been nice to see a detailed plan of work for each week or day. It was a major hassle to be without a kitchen for about 5 weeks - but there's no way around that.
Description of Work: Complete kitchen remodel including knocking out 2 interior walls, new cabinets, island, granite countertops, and tile floor. Entire project took about 7 weeks from contract to finish, which was just a few days over what we expected. The project was right on budget with no surprises.

It was a pleasure to work for you. It took us 3 days longer to complete a project because: #1 It took 2.5 weeks for the City of Minnetonka to issue a building permit and verify that the walls we were talking down were not load bearing and another four days to schedule electrical, plumbing and building inspection. #2 when we removed walls we found out that old kitchen and the rest of the house had a different popcorn texture pattern that we couldn't see before we removed the walls. I think it's worth mentioning that we scrapped the texture off from the dining room and family room and re-taped and re-sprayed the ceiling free of charge for this customer due to health issues that she had, that's why it took us 3 days longer to complete a job. These customers purchased cherry Decora cabinets and trim from us, granite counter tops and provided their own tile and appliances.
Pavel was the general contractor on our project and was very prompt and responsive to any questions we had. He gave us a very detailed estimate on the spot at our first meeting indicating exactly what everything would cost broken out by almost all tasks and the overall price was very competitive to other quotes we had received. After deciding to use On Time Contractors, they were able to start the very next week and progressed very quickly through the initial work that needed to be done (additional framing, rough in plumbing, electrical work, HVAC work) in the first two weeks or so. After this work was done, the remainder of the work progressed a lot slower. This work included, sheet rock, patching and sanding walls, priming, sanding down again, and the finishing of the fireplace and cabinets and took about 5 more weeks to finish these things. We were originally told the whole project would take about 3 weeks and would have liked to have a few more updates towards the end of the project as to what was going on and why the timeline went over the estimated time (was more of a concern for us because we have a dog). Throughout the project we met the guys working on pretty much all aspects of the project and thought everyone of them was very professional and friendly. This helped make my wife and I feel very comfortable having them work at our house while we were at work. We encountered a hiccup when the stone work that was done on the fireplace was not done to our liking, but were very pleased when Pavel reassured us that "They are here to make us happy and if there is something we don?t like, they will fix it until we like it" And that is exactly what they did! They took almost all the stone off the fireplace and redid it to our liking and now we are very pleased with how it turned out. Overall, we were happy with the price, the people, and the finished product.
Description of Work: We had On Time Contractors do a rough in finish of our basement through the sheet rock, primer and sanding of all the walls (family room, bathroom, bedroom, bedroom closet). They also fully installing and finishing a gas fireplace with stonework to ceiling, mantel, hearth, and surrounding cabinets. Our basement already had almost all walls framed prior to the work we had done. The rough in finish included electrical work (including recessed lights), rough in plumbing in bathroom, and HVAC work through the entire basement.

Thank you for your business and comments, we enjoyed working for you. For all customers who are reading this comment, please remember if On Time Contractors is working on your project weather it's a basement, kitchen, bathroom or interior remodel it will take us 1.5 weeks or less to complete demolition and framing, 1.5 weeks or less to complete plumbing, HVAC and electrical work and pass rough-in inspections, 1.5 weeks to complete drywall installation, taping, texturing and sanding (it takes longer in summer, because the humidity is higher and patching compound dries longer, when an AC is on and it's cold in the basement; this is what happened with this job. Home owners kept AC on all the time and it was cold in the basement), 1.5 weeks or less to prime, patch and paint, 1.5 weeks to install tile, hardwood, trim, cabinets and carpet. All our contracts specify that a typical remodeling job takes from 6 to 7 weeks, so please do not have any other expectations that it will take less time to complete your project. All customers, please make your selections ASAP, it will help us to complete your project on time. Even though we an authorized dealer for Homecrest Cabinets it takes 3-4 weeks to build them and deliver to a construction site and it takes 5.5 weeks for Decora cabinets. Unlike other construction companies that subcontract almost all work, we do almost everything ''in house'' including demolition, framing, plumbing, insulation, painting, finish carpentry, tiling, trim, etc. We only subcontract electrical, HVAC and drywall. By doing almost everything ''in house'' we guaranty and control our time line and quality and able to offer our service at lower costs than other firms, but we can't complete jobs on-time if you don't make your selection on-time, so please come to our showroom and choose siding, windows, cabinets, trim, doors, tile, carpet, plumbing fixtures ASAP to help us complete your project on time.

Overall they did a fantastic job. The entire project went very smoothly and was completed quickly. They have this entire process down to a science. They obviously know what they're doing and have the rewards and ratings to prove it.

I'm sure they have done some nice work. I just don't like the rude treatment I received and will find another company that will at least come out and look at what I want done. I have no idea what it would cost, that's why I called a contractor. Bathroom remodel is my first project. Kitchen remodel is the second. Total remodel of a rental unit is the third project. A total remodel of my basement is number four. (add a 3/4 bath, laundry room, and "rec" room) I never got an email from this company. WATCH OUT YOUR NOSE IS GOING TO GROW!! I'm glad he could tell what it would cost over the phone. I just paid the final bill for the bathroom remodel and it came to a little over $16000.00
Description of Work: I called leaving a message that I had four projects that I wanted done but wasn't sure what I could afford. (I'm the kind that wants to keep as small of a debt load as possible). A week later I was called back. I explained that I had a bathroom I wanted done first. The gentleman said "we only do bathrooms between $15000.00 and $45000.00 Since I had no idea what remodeling a bathroom would cost I thanked him, explained I didn't know what the cost would be, and told him I would go elsewhere.

I would like to clarify few things here: it’s our company’s policy that we respond to all emails and phone messages within 1 business day. This customer sent us an email, requesting an estimate that I replied to next day and because I didn’t get any response I called back on a third day and talked to this gentleman for a few minutes, got a scope of the work and told him that based on what he needed done this job would cost less than $15,000 and we did not give out estimates on projects that were under $15,000. Even though we do work on small jobs for repeat clients, but only when customers hire us on time and material bases (pay us per hour for labor and materials that we supply). I explained to him that if he wanted to save money and not to pay for an estimate he was better of getting an estimate from somebody else and if that estimate would end up being higher than $15,000 I would come and provide him with a free quote. Unfortunately we do not provide free estimates on small jobs that are below $15,000, because it costs us money to send estimators out. That’s how we minimize our costs and keep our services affordable. A typical company might do 100 estimates per month and complete only 1 -3 jobs, while including the cost of so called “free estimates” in the cost of these jobs. On Time Contractors operates differently, we save money to customers upfront.
We are absolutely delighted with the transformation of the bathroom. Our once dated peach and green bathroom is now stunning. They converted the closet into a shower w/ frameless glass door, added beautiful glass tile throughout, and updated all of the fixtures, including a lovely deep soaking tub. Looks like something out of a magazine. I still can't believe the workmanship we got for the price. As others have noted, Pavel and the entire crew are very courteous and professional. They kept our house clean throughout the process, always showed up when we expected them, etc. Of course, there are always questions that come up in the course of a remodel-- we had only to call Pavel and he either answered his cell phone, or called back within minutes. I just can't say enough about how pleased we are. I can't imagine we would look anywhere else for any future remodeling needs.
Description of Work: We hired On Time Contractors to tear out and completely remodel the bathroom in our 1953 home and also to replace the back porch and step that were not level. Both jobs were completed on time, for the amount quoted, and exceptionally well done.

I met with Mark Hallberg at my home on 4/5/10 to discuss the scope of my kitchen remodel project. He seemed interested in doing my project at the time. Five weeks have passed and I have not heard back from Mark or anyone from On Time Contractors. I called Mark today 5/12/10 and he said they would not be able to do my project. I did not ask for a explanation. Whatever his reason he should have called long ago and explaned that they could not do my project. On Time Contractors were unprofessional and wasted my time.

We had a few days in April when our phone system was off, because we were moving into a new showroom. That's probably when you called and your message was not saved. Even if a job is too small for us we always refer prospects to our subs that we trust. Pavel Sakurets.
We had a terrific experience with On Time Contractors, in general, and with Pavel, in particular. Pavel and his crew were always punctual and very responsive to our questions and concerns. The quality of their work was fantastic and we are very satisfied with the final product. As importantly, we have been very satisfied with the process throughout the remodeling. The crew was very respectful of our house and as a result we had a minimal interference with our day-to-day life during the work on the basement. The craftsmanship of all involved was high.
Description of Work: Finished a previously semi-finished basement. Finished basement now includes a hardwood floor, fireplace, and a full bath.
Fabulous. We worked with Mark, who helped us design a new layout for the kitchen that maximized our space. He came up with the idea of creating the new opening between the kitchen and dining room and it has made such a difference in how open the kitchen feels. Mark gave us very helpful advice in picking out colors and materials. We had a number of questions and Mark and the owner Pavel patiently worked with us to figure out all the details. Once we signed the contract, On-Time started within a couple of weeks. They said it would take 5 weeks, and they finished in exactly five weeks. They always showed up when they said they would, and all the work was scheduled in a smooth and logical progression. Pavel worked with us through several issues and did everything we asked him to. He made sure we were completely satisfied. We have had many compliments on the workmanship. We are especially pleased with how the new arch matches perfectly with the existing arch. They made a plywood template to made sure it matched exactly. The granite countertop is beautifully cut and finished. We used a fairly complicated design for our backsplach tile, and the tile work is perfect. We love our new kitchen!
Description of Work: Complete remodeling of the 10' x 10' kitchen in our 1940 house. This included new Decora cherry cabinets, granite countertop and stainless steel sink, limestone backsplash, all new electrical, new ceiling lighting, ceramic floors, new back door and storm door, ceramic landing, and all new woodwork. Ceiling and walls were all skimcoated and painted. They also cut open the wall between the kitchen and dining room next to the doorway to create a larger opening with a small bar. The new opening was designed to be an arch that matches the arch between the dining room and living room. We also bought all new stainless steel appliances (not included in the price).
My experience was very good. When Pavel first came out he was very knowledgeable and helpful with my project. He listened and put together a quote on the spot which I was surprised I did not have to wait for 2 weeks for the price. When I gave him the approval to start he introduced me to his crew and explained to me who was coming and going and kept me informed with the next step in the process. The best thing of all was they were finished ahead of schedule. I would and have recommend them to friends and family for any project.
Description of Work: Pavel and crew came out and finished my basement and added a loft on my main floor. In the basement he finished an entire bathroom, bedroom, bar, fireplace and living room. The fireplace consisted of a hearth and mantel and the bar had interior lighting with granite counter tops.
Pavel and his team specialize in high quality work at incredibly competitive prices. Not many people can bid a project at a lower cost and deliver the highly professional and fast service they are capable of. From the first day, they arrived, unloaded, prepped the basement, moved items that were too heavy for me, and came in like a team preparing for a big game. They delivered on their date of completion despite the typical problems and delays that come along the way of a remodel projects. Whenever I needed something in particular to be addressed, i could reach Pavel and he would in turn address his team promptly and often the issue would be dealt with either the same day or the following work day. I highly recommend them to anyone who knows what they want done and need someone to deliver a professional finish on a timely basis for an incredible price.
Description of Work: I hired On-Time to do a remodel of my basement that was built in the 1940s. The services included were demolition, framing up new walls, insulation work, drywall, reduction and replacement of old duct work including framing and enclosing all ductwork and ceiling with drywall. From here, they leveled the old floor and laid both hardwood flooring and slate tile flooring. They also replaced several old windows with newer, more efficient Pella windows.

Our experience with this contractor did not go very well. We contacted On Time Contractors based on the reviews they had received on Angie's List. We met with the Designer/Project Manager on 9/24 to bid two separate jobs; one large (2 baths and master demo and remodel) and a smaller job, the garage finished (taped, mudded, sanded and painted). We were told we would have the bid for the smaller job on Monday, 9/28 and the bid for the larger job on Monday 10/5. When we did not hear anything from the contractor as promised on 9/28, we contacted The Designer/Project Manager to be told we would have the bid early the next evening. If the bids we received from three different contractors, On Time's was more than double two of them and triple the third bid. I called and left a message for the Designer/Project Manager and emailed him to inquire why the bid was so high. I never got any reply either by telephone or email. After no response we used another contractor that we met and bidded for the garage job and are now taking bids from other contractors we found on Angie's List to do the larger job.

Thank you for your response. On Time Contractors is committed to giving superior customer service and great value. We are sorry that you feel that you were not given these. We are continually striving to be better and your comments will help us do that. We hope that your project is successful, however I don't understand why you are saying that you haven't been contacted by us. I know that Mark Hallberg talked to you and I discussed your proposal with you also after you wanted to negotiate our price down and we refused. There are 3 major components in any service that any company offers: quality, customer service and price; you can't have great quality or service at a low price. Our company will not cut the quality of work, nor service, to meet price constraints. We believe that our multiple "Super Service Awards" are because we provide a superior product at a reasonable price. Pavel Sakurets

The work was done exactly in the time frame we were given. Pavel and Zoli were great to work with. The counter top specialist was particularly helpful as we were selecting our products. This was a small project, but we were treated well. Our phone messages were returned promptly. Great customer service and quality workmanship.
Description of Work: Installed granite counter top, new sink and faucet, and tile back splash. The tile back splash also included a special mosaic feature above the sink.
Zolie and Mark came out and believed our budget could be kept to $12,000 and that if all items were in stock could be completed within a few weeks. We loved their suggestion of white subway tile and their quote of $12,000, which was almost half the cost of quotes we'd received from other companies years ago. The work was delayed a few times because of inventory issues and a trip out of town for us, but Zolie was very apologetic and kept in constant contact with us about the schedule. Design services are available from the company but we basically designed the room ourselves and bought the tile and fixtures on our own, which we were happy to do as it kept the costs down -- if you're uncomfortable with making these choices on your own, however, pay for design work. The workers who came to our house were extremely conscientious and attentive to detail, putting in long hours and cleaning up thoroughly each day. Plastic sheeting and boards were laid down for the duration of the project to protect the house. The company owner stopped by several times during and after the project and all the licenses and inspections were taken care of. We lacked a shower and toilet for one day. We always felt that everyone on the project was working very hard to please us and get things done fast since it's only bathroom. It was scary to undertake such a big project on our only bathroom but we always felt like Zolie and the rest of the company cared about our experience and worked to make us happy. We are overjoyed with our new bathroom.
Description of Work: The company replaced all the floor and wall tile, cabinets, shower doors, fan and fixtures in our bathroom (we kept the toilet and tub). They also replaced a window, raising it a few inches and replacing siding on the outside of the house, and painted the room at the end.

Very well. Pavel and his team did everything very professionally. Everything step of the project is on time and within budget as originally quoted. During the request for quote process, Pavel's quote didn't come in as the lowest cost, but we chose them because of the excellent ratings from Angie's List. We are very glad that we made the right decision.
Description of Work: Basement finishing, including 1 large family room, 1 computer/study room, 1 exercise room, 1 bedroom, 1 3/4 bath, etc.
Pavel promptly returned our call and we received an estimate within 1 week. He was very meticulous and answered all of our questions. On Time?s bid was competitive, and we chose them based on prior recommendations and because we felt comfortable with Pavel and Mark. The crew was always very courteous and did a good job cleaning up each day. Whenever we had a concern, it was promptly addressed and resolved without hassle. The only delay in the project was due to the custom shower glass, which was subcontracted, so not really On Time?s fault. We are very happy with the finished product, and would and have recommended them to others.
Description of Work: On Time Contractors remodeled both of our upstairs bathrooms. The master bathroom, which is 11 x 12 ft, was gutted. The smaller bathroom is 4 x 8 ft, and everything was redone except for the tub and vanity, which were recently replaced. The tile throughout both bathrooms is travertine. The counters are all granite. The floors are heated. The shower doors, including custom glass for the master, are new. There are two new Pella Architect Series casement windows, and all of the trim and the new cabinets are cherry. All new oil-rubbed bronze fixtures are primarily Moen, and the new toilets and bathtub (6 ft bubble) are Kohler. A recirculating pump was also installed onto our water heater.

Came out to bid for a bathroom, bedroom and rec room. Seemed like they had a very set way of doing things and flexibility on products/prices were not an option. Received the bid on-site but the price was very high, again I am assuming because they are required to use certain products. Out of the eight bids, this was by far the highest (it didn't even include the egress) so I didn't even try to get a counter offer from them. When I turned them down, I got an email from my contact there questioning the thoroughness of my search and my choice. Seemed like a good company but more for people who want high-end and high-price work done.
Description of Work: Received a bid from them. It was very high and they were not as flexible as other companies I dealt with.

Thanks for your review. I'm sorry that you were under the false impression that we do not allow our customers to choose their own materials. In fact, we encourage our customers to do that. We've even gone so far as to open a showroom to help customers choose finish materials. In review of our estimate, we did include the egress window and everything else needed to professionally complete the project. As a licensed, fully insured and bonded contractor, we are legally required to pull all the necessary permits and have certain work done by licensed electricians, plumbers and HVAC contractors. Obviously, we can't compete on a price basis with handymen that are not even licensed, nor insured. We don't have any interest in taking those risks with either our license, good name, or your home. However, I can assure you that if you were to compare us with at least one other legitimate company from Angie's List, you would see the difference. There is a reason why On Time Contractors has finished more basements than anybody else in Twin Cities: we provide the best professional service at affordable prices. Good luck! Pavel Sakurets. In general, it went well. Pavel worked hard to keep us happy and redid some parts of the project until they were complete to our satisfaction. It went much longer than planned because we were slow in getting some flooring delivered and because defective carpeting was installed by a subcontractor. Pavel agree that the carpeting should be replaced. Unfortunately, it was back ordered. This gave the project that "never ending" feel, but the carpet was installed promptly when it arrived. I don't think we could have asked for more.

Thanks for your response. Our goal is always to leave our customers satisfied with the project and some times this means overcoming obstacles from vendors. One note on our crew members and their fluency in English: most, while having been born in Belarus, have lived in the U.S. for most of their lives and speak English fluently. One team member who is the oldest and the best craftsman (30 years of experience) understands English, but has a difficult time expressing himself with it. For this reason, he is always paired with a team member who is fluent, his son Igar who was born in the U.S.
We had a very positive experience with Pavel Sakurets and his team. We called Pavel based on his stellar rating on Angie's list and we were not disappointed. He was very courteous, professional and competitive in his pricing. Above all, he and his crew were always "on time." We needed to finish the space before our baby was due in November and despite some delays in permits and inspections they did finish on time. Pavel was always accessible by phone and responded right away to all questions. He had to go overseas during the project and made sure we had someone local to contact. But even so his phone message left an overseas number to reach him if needed and the assurance that he would bear all costs for the calls. This was just one example of the wonderful customer service. He was very prompt in giving us a quote after looking at the space and the final quote was very close to the quoted figure. He gave us some helpful suggestions along the way while making sure that we were the ones making the decisions. We are very happy with our new basement. It's a bright, beautiful space and the bathroom is the swankiest in the house. We have a minor electrical glitch that is being resolved promptly after we contacted Pavel. We'll definitely hire On-Time Contractors again for any future project.
Description of Work: On Time Contractors remodeled our previously unfinished basement. They created a large family room, a bedroom and a full bath in the area. They took apart the existing floor, ceiling etc. and created demarcated spaces and closets. They and their sub-contractors installed drywall, vinyl flooring, electrical wiring including recessed lights, carpet on the stairs, and all plumbing, tiles and fixtures in the bathroom. The ceiling was completed with a popcorn finish and the entire area was painted with two different colors of paint.

Mark came out and walked through the basement area as I outlined the work I wanted done. He did a good job of capturing my lengthy list of items - some large and some small. The proposal he sent to me was very detailed, with the price for each item broken out. I had some questions about specific items, and he quickly responded with answers and/or an updated proposal. Working with On-Time through the proposal/bid process was a positive experience.
Description of Work: On-Time gave me a proposal on a basement remodel project. It included building a bedroom in an unfinished part of the basement, as well as updating numerous parts of the finished basement, e.g. flooring, millwork, ceiling. I chose a different contractor for the project, but was very impressed with On-Time's thorough proposal and responsiveness to my questions.
