They did not do what they were supposed to do. Then they tried to install a free outdoor light for me to make up for the fact that they didn't install the electric the way it was supposed to be done and it wasn't even really up to code. Their prices were probably good because their work is so bad. Their punctuality was good.
Description of Work: I used them for electrical service.

Description of Work: It took 3 calls to get a response. When Dewey arrived he took no notes- we are considered new construction due to water damage-so there was a lot to cover and he fielded a phone call from his wife who was on a trip while talking with us. It just rubbed us the wrong way.

Called when we needed a new electrical sub for our renovations. Dewey's company had pulled to permit previously on this house, so we hoped they were familiar with this "old home" and its wiring. Dewey came over that day, was very helpful, and gave us an approximate bid on the spot followed up by the written bid via email. His employees were very easy to work with, the work was done on time, and we will be using them again.
Description of Work: Rewire kitchen, wire new laundry room, various changes to bring house to code

I contacted Dewey Nelson to submit an estimate for performing any electrical repairs that needed to be done on the house, either as required by the city code or that simply needed to be done. Dewey promptly submitted a bid to me, detailing those items that were required to bring the electrical system up to code. The evening after I received the bid, a severe storm struck Minneapolis, causing the power in the home to be compromised. Tenants in the home noted that only two outlets in the house had power. Also water was found in the main electrical panel and on the breakers. The tenant contacted Oaks Electric, explained what had happened, and asked for assistance. Oaks Electric representative recommended removing the breakers, allowing the panel to dry out over night, and purchasing new breakers the next morning. Although the tenant installed new breakers the next day, per Oaks Electric verbal instruction, there was still only limited power coming into the house. Dewey came to the house to troubleshoot the situation. He discovered that the city had lost a transformer causing only a small percentage of the normal power load to be brought into the house. Dewey spent an hour plus troubleshooting, and then adjusting the wiring to allow the fridge and minimal lights to be operated until the city repaired it's transformer. Dewey Nelson offered to forego a charge for the emergency service (about $125) if I accepted his bid for the work previously discussed. Since I felt the amount being bid was reasonable, and he had answered all questions I had regarding work to be performed, I agreed to have Oaks Electric do the work needed on the electrical system. Dewey recommended replacement of the main electrical panel and all breakers because of serious corrosion. I received a phone call from my tenants at 8:00 a.m. on Monday that the house was full of brawny men! Dewey had his crew show up at 7:30 to begin the work! They performed each and every item listed on the Truth-in-Housing report, and at least 3 or 4 items that were not on the list. The crew did a fantastic job. Overall, my experience with Oaks Electric Company, and Mr. Dewey Nelson. was 100% positive. Cannot think of a single thing that could have been done that might improve Oaks Electric Company response time, and professional and courteous service. Can't go wrong using these guys! As a side note, all my communication with Dewey has been by phone or email since I live in Texas, and he (and the house) are in Minneapolis. Dewey was kind enough to email the initial bid and final invoice, and allow me to mail a check to him upon receipt of the invoice.
Description of Work: Oaks Electric Company, using the truth-in-housing report and mechanical inspection report prepared when we purchased the investment property, set out to bring the electrical system up to code required by the City of Minneapolis. There were numerous items that had to be addressed. In addition, Dewey recommended replacement of the main electrical panel and breakers due to corrosion.
