We had Nordic Tile owner Andrew Forsmark out to our house for to bid on an unfinished basement bathroom tile job. He was punctual and courteous, his bid was detailed, and he was able to accommodate our construction schedule, so we hired him to complete the work. As a fairly meticulous person who has some construction experience, I found Andrew had a good sense for tile layout lines, maintaining even tile gaps, and keeping everything level. He did a great job leveling the floor, building the shower pan and curb, and squaring up the shower surround with the adjacent walls. Andrew also had some good suggestions for using Granite as shower shelves, as a shower curb, and as the door threshold. The contrasting style to our marble made for a good accent. Overall, Andrew is a calm and personable fellow who seems to enjoy his work. I would definitely hire him again for our next tile project.

My people and I had a nice time working for this couple. Their house on the South side of Lake Harriet was really kept up nice and we knew they expected a high level of craftsmanship. We had great coordination receiving architectural print outs of exactly how the clients wanted the tile to turn out. The tile we installed was a Italian Marble in a beige tone called Fiorito. There was little margin for error tiling everything within a 1/16" of an inch grout joint. Everything timed out really nicely. We incorporated a solid granite slab for the curb top and integrated the same granite for some nice beefy shampoo shelves. The warm earthy hues of the stone complements the craftsman style used throughout the house. The finish product is something you'd see in a Minnesota Monthly article at significantly lower costs... Pictures of this project can be found in the 2012 project section off our main website. Thank you for the flattering review and we look forward to the next project!

I would not recommend this company to anybody. We received three estimates total and decided to go with Nordic. Andrew brought in his crew of electricians, painters, etc, and Andrew did the tiling himself. Because the first painting job was done so poorly, another painter had to come in to re-do the painting. Initially, the taping underneath the paint was done poorly. This had to be re-done, along with the painting, so there was a smooth appearance. They did this all on their own, and they didn't charge us any extra for this additional work. Also, the grouting on the tile was left very inconsistent. My husband had to scrape excess grout in both bathrooms. We did bring this up to Andrew, and he did come out to fix a small portion of it, but we had to take care of the rest ourselves. We even had to clean the tile too, since he didn’t even wipe off the tile once he did the work. There was a lot of work that was left incorrectly done. I wouldn’t use this company again.
Description of Work: We had two bathrooms remodeled, which included stripping them down to the studs. The floor, shower, tub, one stool, and both vanities were removed. Both bathrooms had a moisture problem that needed to be fixed.

When getting a bad report its important to assess the job objectively. We have documented pictures on our website at http://www.nordictile.com/disputes for everyone to see our work first hand. The description of our work certainly doesn't match the pictures. We got paid in full and the client parted with us on good terms at time of completion. We fully acknowledge that the first painter had craftsmanship issues that we addressed immediately and at great expense to our profit. The issues with the grout are unfounded. I personally addressed every "problem" grout area in real time with the client (refer to web pictures). All the professionals involved after hearing of this report had the same response, utter shock and disbelief. What I think prompted this misleading report is that throughout the job the client continually tried to get additional work outside of the scope of the agreed project. Hang this mirror, toilet paper holder, towel bar etc. etc. I am glad to help out with small things that don't take very long but they began to take advantage of my good will. I put an end to the "favors" and expressed to them that I felt taken advantage of. Clients attempt to take advantage of me and my people all the time and I just don't stand for it. If that means a bad review once every six months then fine. All the clients assertions of bad work just doesn't add up when compared to the pictures of the actual job and the consistency of all my reviews before and after this took place. Although we are not happy to receive this report we are thankful for all of the work generated from the before and after pictures of this clients job (on our website), and take comfort in knowing all the clients who do appreciate our craftsmanship. I think it is off, but he doesn’t think it is off. The pieces on the right and left don’t have the same size hypotenuse so it isn’t centered. I was disappointed that I picked him when he didn’t do the work. The assistant redid the work the owner did. It was okay but I just wasn’t thrilled.
Description of Work: I picked him because he said he did the work. The most important step about tile when it is on point is putting in the first few pieces of tile; he was not there for that.

We are baffled and shocked to receive this report especially after such a long period of time. We certainly remember doing this job last spring because the clients were extremely difficult to work with on a professional basis being indecisive and communicating poorly throughout the construction process. Much of the clients description of the work performed is inaccurate. The area we were asked to tile was a rectangular entrance way just inside her front door. She fails to disclose that prior to tile being installed she had new hard wood floors put in around the perimeter of this rectangular area. These hardwood floors matched her existing walls which were slightly out of square (thus the hardwood floor edge meeting tile is out of square). I know I was there the entire time with vivid memory because we found the center point of the rectangular space, walked the tile out to each of the four edges and discovered that indeed the wood floor guys mucked up their install affecting ours. She didn't want to believe my tape measure (her wood floors were installed out of square by a 1/4" within 8 feet) and I asked her if she wanted to hold off and let the wood floors guys fix their stuff. She declined in realization that her tile could only be cut to the out of square wood floors and thus the cuts would slightly vary. Just envision being asked to tile a trapezoid: no surface we were asked to tile off of was square so getting our cuts to within a 1/16" of an inch was a feat onto its self. We looked into her other reports on companies and you can decide for yourself if you would like to be in a position to please this client. We are always upfront, fair, and honest with people. Which is why she asked us to tile her first floor bathroom on the way out after completing the entrance way. She didn't disclose that either.

This guy told me he would call me backm and give me an estimate on Saturday, 10/15, but would not be available to do the job until November, first week. I said that was fine. On Friday never heard from "Andrew" so I called him. Story changed. He accepted a large job and was now not available until mid January. Well, nice that he's working but basically a liar! I would not recommend him based on his lack of professionalism!!! In other words, call someone who is good to their word. If he lies about one thing, he would lie about another.

As being a successful small business doing business for more then a decade we get allot of calls for new work. I always communicate with clients that work will be performed on a first come first serve basis regardless of the size of the project. Last week a pallet of tile was damaged in transport throwing my entire months tile schedule off which affect what jobs I could take on. You can see from my numerous reports that I am up front and honest with people about our scheduling. Upon receiving this report we did some searching on the internet to try and discover this clients motivations for posting an inaccurate and misleading report. If you type the clients name and address into goggle you will find her on an IRS Delinquent website. Apparently she owes money all over town. We would suggest rather then flipping out on a small businessman to take care of her own stuff first.

This guy really knows his stuff. He completely rebuilt our entire shower and bathroom tile floor. He knows how to spot a problem with original design or craftsmanship and correct it. He also has a great sense of aesthetics and knew how to achieve the look we wanted. He really knows a lot about tile quality and design and where to get the best tile choices. The only reason he didn't get straight A's from me was that the painter he used was among the worst I have ever seen, so the final paint job will have to be completely re-done (the subcontract painter didn't paint behind the washer/dryer, didn't paint under a vanity, left paint splatter on some tiles, etc.). After almost $12,000 for the re-build of the bath, a simple $500 paint job left it looking poorly finished. So, it wasn't Andrew's workmanship that was ever a problem, but in the end I'm still left with a bathroom I have to get someone else to complete. I would definitely hire him again, but I would use my own contacts for the subcontract work like painting.

Job consisted of removing and reinstalling a decaying tub surround and putting in a new back splash. We were originally brought in to give a bid on just putting in a new back splash and the client asked us while we were out to investigate whether a tub surround was worth re chalking and re-grouting. Since the tile was tiled on inferior substrate (Sheetrock) the only option left was to redo it. We have created a "before and after" section on our website to illustrate this process in which you can see this project. The clients had asked to do the tub surround with budget in mind, and we are very happy to install tile without a deco stripe or fancy stone. The most important aspect of a good tile job is in the prep work, after that it's all esthetics. We came up with a solution to provide maximum life to the new tub, while not going overboard with the tile materials while at the same time tied into the existing look of the tile floor and walls that weren't being replace. Happy to hear these clients were so satisfied. Thank you for the review!

Andrew was great to work with. He was very responsive. I really appreciated his willingness to work with me and his creativity in coming up with a solution for my needs. Our house is older, 1921, and the floors sag in places-- most dramatically in the kitchen. Prior to bringing in Andrew, we had removed layers of flooring, going all the way down to the floorboards, then installed 3/4" plywood and covered that with Hardieboard. The problem was it still sagged. In one area it dropped about 1" over 2'. I had thought we would only need to level out the worst part of the drop, but Andrew let me know that more of the floor would need to be addressed to prevent tiles from cracking. He ended up hand leveling almost half of the room. As for the tile, I had found what I liked at the Tile Shop, but it was back-ordered. Andrew worked with the shop directly so we could schedule the work based of their delivery date. He handled everything with the tile, including delivery and even carrying the left-over tiles at the end of the job into my basement for storage. The actual installation went very smoothly. I think he did most of it in one day and then came back to do the borders on a second. Then there was another trip for grouting and one for cleanup. He took the time to explain how to care for the tile and grout. I was happy to learn the grout he selected was very low maintenance. I've been working as my own GC on this remodel so I can't tell you how much I appreciated his commitment to quality work and service. One great example, he was concerned the fit for a to-be-installed dishwasher was going to be tight so he dry-fitted the tile where the dishwasher was to go and left them loose so they could be removed if necessary. As it would happen, the appliance installers didn't think it was an issue and installed the dishwasher on top of the tile, but when the countertop installers came and found the dishwasher sitting too high they were relieved to find they could remove the tiles underneath the dishwasher. It seems some folks are only focused on the task at hand, just their piece of the puzzle, and they figure it is up someone else to figure out how it fits together-- in this case literally how it fitted together. I was so pleased that Andrew had the foresight to identify a potential issue and to come up with a solution, proactively making sure it wouldn't be a problem for someone else to have to deal with. As for price, I received multiple bids and Andrew's was the highest; HOWEVER, I opted to go with him because he demonstrated a level of professionalism that I was confident would translate into his tile work. We also scaled the project back a bit so it was closer to my original budget. The finished floor looks great and I am sure it will last a long time.

We appreciate the nice feedback and thorough review after working through this job. Client was very informed in making her decisions and got numerous bids on the work. Her tile selection ( a large format rectangular tile) required the floors to be close to perfectly level in order to turn out nice. The bid I gave encompassed all the up charges one could expect in detailing a floor to this magnitude. We are honest with our charges from the beginning, very seldom do our bids increase from the original scope of work and as a result, we generally are just a little higher than our competitors. We did end up hand leveling about half the floor and gave the client a break on these costs. Coordination with the different trades going into a kitchen remodel (cabinetry, plumbing, appliances) is easy one if you've been doing nothing but tiling in a remodeling environment for more than a decade. We're glad to hear things went so smoothly behind us. Look for the large dark rectangular patterned tile floor in our "view latest projects" section. Thanks for the great review!

Very well--it took longer than I expected, but that has always been the case with every home improvement project we've done. Andrew did his best to get us to select all materials before he began the tear out to minimize delays. There was a miscommunication with the tile and it showed up gloss instead of matt. Still not sure what happened, but it added 3 days to the project, which was manageable. Andrew took care of it.
Description of Work: Andrew and his team did a very clean professional job, and our bathroom is beautiful. Perhaps what I appreciated most about his help was his willingness to take on the role of general contractor. I thought I was essentially going to retile our bathroom, but as usual, the project entailed much more--like electrical and plumbing. His referrals were terrific and knowledgeable, as was his partner. I initially got bids and spoke with three professionals from Angies List, but Andrew's bid was the most thorough, he explained every expense with me and worked to try and bring the bid into an acceptable range. His process is very transparent, and when additional costs are incurred he notified me immediately. He also comped us for a few smaller projects and helped us with others like drywall patches, etc. The grout receded a bit after completion and Andrew returned right away to add another coat at no additional expense. I found him to be trustworthy and his management of the project very professional. Thanks Andrew--I'll call when we're ready to move on the other bathroom.

We really appreciate the flattering review. We are frequently asked to help coordinate bathroom and kitchen projects from start to finish. While being in business for more than a decade we have developed deep roots with master plumbers, electricians, and painters all of whom work together pretty seamlessly. This clients project came about due to inferior craftsmanship before us. We have developed an extensive "before and after" section within our website in which you can view this project. The materials consisted of a honed carrea marble in varying dimensions for the floors and walls with decorative accents made of glass, travertine, and more marble. The arched ceiling is a very striking mosaic blend giving the bathroom a retro yet very fun and lively feel to it. All the materials and grout that were used are top of the line, requiring very low maintenance. The one snafu (all be it major) came when the marble showed up polished instead of honed. I got the marble right over to my main stone fabricator who brought the tile to the exact sheen the client was looking for. This project was challenging but very rewarding because the of the client esthetic tastes. Her tile selections and other contributing elements within her bathroom made for one stunning look. Thanks for the nice review!

The job consisted of removing and reinstalling a tub surround, putting in new plumbing fixtures along the way. It was important to allot the appropriate amount of time to complete this project. Thankfully after discovering inferior wiring behind the old tile we had time to bring things up to spec before continuing without exceeding the turn around promised. We have numerous skill sets beyond tiling so when things come up, we can usually adapt. If not then we know the right people to call. Client's profession as a successful interior designer greatly contributed to the very nice aesthetics achieved in the final product. The job encompassed tile labor to remove and reinstall 2 aging bathrooms that were original to the house. The scheduling was important coordinating electricians, plumbers, dry wall, and then of course us to complete this project in the right order. The clients research in what products to use, grout, paint, plumbing, electrical all contributed to a very nicely finished product. Communication with the client was also important to the success; they wanted a traditional look with a emphasis on functionality and durability. Expectations were set high, and we allowed amble time to allow for the attention of detail necessary. Clients made it all the easier by being understanding of the slight disruptions in their lives from us working inside their house during the winter. Photos of this project can be found in the "view latest projects" section of our website look for a patterned grey porcelain floor, and a shower with round white tiles. We are very flattered to hear such nice feedback. My helper and I worked very hard for a little under 3 weeks to get things done for these clients. Thanks so much!

Ya, I don't even charge for the jobsite humor. You get that for free. My coworkers and I have been working together for over a decade so you can imagine the back and forth that occurs. This clients were great. Decisive, listened to my recommendations for grout selection and layout, and were just plain nice people to work for. There was a little bit of extra work adjusting some electrical switches and under mount lights, but was happy to help such nice people. In and out, done deal. Checkout the "view latest projects" of my website. Their travertine/granite/and glass mosaic blend works great with the silestone counter top. Thanks for the work and great review

We were pleased with the service from Nordic Tile. Without exception, Andrew and his staff showed up as scheduled, always answered our questions with patience, and stayed focused on their work. This job consisted of installing approximately 300 sq. ft. within a kitchen, entrance way, and 3 season porch. Layout was a little tricky with the 20" size tile installed at a 45 degree angle but client was very satisfied. Its important to set scheduling and craftsmanship expectations with the client from the onset of the job. We delivered exactly what was promised and then some. Helped client modify appliances, heating vents, and wood thresholds to work better with their new floors. We've learned to adapt to our working environment to make things the least convenient for a client living in their house during construction and only kept the client from using their kitchen 2 days out of 5. Very happy to hear how satisfied they were, and am looking forward to our next project together down the road. Thanks so much for all the work and nice review!

These clients were very thoughtful and meticulous in their planning for this project. Maintaining a precise schedule was very important in coordinating the installation of the tile with the wood floors and delivery of appliances. The patterned floor consisted of a variety of porcelain tile sizes and colors contrasting with the wood floors and cabinetry (view the "latest projects" section on my website). Clients used a variety of my suggestions like using a square laundry room drain instead of a round one keeping everything lineal. These were very nice people to work for. Because of their communication and thoughtful planning and coordinating of other subcontractors around my work things went very smoothly for everyone. In and out as promised! A well planned and coordinated project will always be a successful one. Thanks for the great review!

The shower in our master bath had been built as part of an expansion of our house in 1992. In five years, we were seeing water dripping from the outside stucco in wintertime. In 2006, we had to do expensive exterior stucco remediation because the moisture was damaging the exterior studs and stucco. It was at this time that it was discovered that the vapor barrier behind the shower wall was missing (too late to sue the original contractor). By 2010, the shower tile was falling off. Also, the shower floor was not graded to drain properly. We thought we might need only some tile repair, but all three outfits that we called in said the tile was improperly installed with the wrong adhesive for a shower. We decided to demolish and rebuild the entire shower. We selected Andrew Forsmark of Nordic Tile to do the job, which began on Dec. 8, 2010 and was completed about Dec. 20th, about 2 days earlier than quoted. Andrew was punctual, hard-working, and communicative about any issues. We were pleased with his knowledge and ability at tiling. We would hire him again. Our shower functions well, feels really solid for the first time, and drains properly. The only "constructive criticisms" I would make is that the work could have been a bit cleaner and that a couple floor scratches could have been avoided. Whatever issues we raised, Andrew responded quickly. After the job was over and paid up, we noted a couple problems (a cracked tile, and a shower door problem) we wanted taken care of. Andrew came over the very next day and handled them completely. We ended up happy with the work. I gave a B on price, because it appears Nordic Tile came in higher than a competing bid, but we selected Nordic anyway because we felt greater confidence with their assessment of the issues.
Description of Work: Nordic Tile demolished a shower stall down to the studs, installed Dura-Rock backing board with waterproofing, rebuilt the shower floor, and completely re-tiled the shower. The height of the door opening was also increased to near-ceiling height.

This job went according to plan. Clients were very easy and articulate in communicating which makes our job all the easier. I would say that while we usually come in a little higher then company's who don't have our experience, it is because we know what to expect and like to give out one price that we are able to stick too from beginning to end. A word of advice for people is to stay away from contractors who won't fully explain how they will construct the shower pan for you. Cities are now requiring a permit to be pulled for inspecting shower pans. This is a very good idea. Minneapolis and Edina will not pass (for inspection) any shower pan including some of those "showerpan systems" you see on T.V. or are brought up by inexperienced tile setters unless its constructed this way: 2 layers of concrete with a shower pan liner in between each layer. Nothing else works, and nothing else is accepted within ANSI code(American national standards institute). So be careful, sometimes the cheaper bid will get you into trouble 5, 10, 15 years down the road. We are seeing more frequently craftsmanship that looks good on the surface, but whose structure isn't up to spec. Thanks for the work and great review!

Andrew was very easy to work with and the process was straightforward and a good value. I had interviewed another Angie's list recommended tile person and the entire bid and arrangements were cumbersome. Working with Andrew was the complete opposite. He returned my call quickly, was open about how much he charged by the hour, scheduling was easy, his recommendation for tile patterns were helpful and the end result is a very nice back entry way. I would highly recommend Andrew and Nordic Tile.

Client and I hashed out a few ideas for tile layout, and kept coming back to our initial stagger pattern layout. I would recommend going with your initial instinct, tile layout really doesn't need to be over thought. Besides being decisive and easy to work for, client treated me as a guest even though I was working for her, and I spent allot of extra time putting the spit and polish on her completed floor because of the way I was treated. Thanks so much for the nice review!

Estimate was timely. Work was completed when promised. Layout of tile was done nicely with a minimum of cuts. Finished product looks good. Shortcomings were the price (not counting travel, the job only took about 5 hours.) Cleanup could have been better. I did need to touch up the grout in a few places at the top junction with the overhead cupboards. Overall, I am pleased with the finished project.
Description of Work: Installed 18 square feet of glass tile backsplash. I provided the tile, so the $475 was for labor and grout and adhesive.

this job was straight forward. Everything clicked right into place. Clients did everything on their end they said they would. The price is what it is. I tell people how many times to you want to pay for something? There's about 20 different ways a guy could screw up installing an intricate patterned glass mosaic backslash. While it might seem that things go quickly, I am utilizing over a decades worth of experience. Thanks for the great review. Look for the bamboo looking glass on my "view latest projects" section of my website.

Nordic did a great job overall from the demolition and installation to project management and coordination. They emphasized their willingness to comeback at any time to address any issues or concerns we have. In addition, they followed-up on plumbing issues, inspection, and through the tub restoration process (we had existing, original tub re-glazed as part of the bathroom update). In fact, when a problem arose with the plumbing hardware (not the plumber's fault), Nordic was attentive and assisted in coordinating with the plumber and resolving the issue. We will use Nordic in the future and recommend them without reservation.
Description of Work: Nordic Tile removed our old, existing tile and rotting plaster wall area. After removal, Nordic Tile, at its suggestion, installed insulation around the shower and tub area. This proved to be an excellent suggestion (and one we had not considered) because we have a 1926 house, which has virtually no insulation. Nordic Tile then installed new cement board, which it waterproofed. And then Nordic Tile installed our new tile, and made helpful suggestions regarding finishing edges. These suggestions took into account the lack of straight edges and borders of our existing plaster walls. Nordic also coordinated with the plumber in preparing and installing the updated bath and shower fixtures and associated hardware.

These were some very, very nice people to work for. I have learned over the years that when problems arise (and they always do), its best to immediately bring it to the clients attention with a variety of solutions for them to choose from. Having the wrong plumbing valve put in is certainly a big snafu that wasn't my fault or the plumbers, but it was my job and I was happy to accept responsibility to get the job completed within the promised time frame. Its a good lesson for everybody to just stay cool and collected when problems arise, these people did and their demeanor should carry them very far in their professional and personal lives... Hey thanks for the nice review!

Andrew was very responsive via phone and email. The reason we chose him was the fact that he had worked with the tile we selected before. When he came and gave us our estimate he gave us confidence that he could get the job done in 2 sessions. One to set the tile, one to grout it. We also appreciated that he was willing to come on a Saturday. The first session went well, we laid out the deco strip were happy with the design. However, there was a lot more variability in the installation than we would have thought there would be.I realize that I am very detail oriented and small things bug me, but what I was told upfront and what I got were not the same. We can live with it, but I wish I had been more prepared for it. Unfortunately, this disconnect continued at the next session when I was disappointed in the amount of grout still on the tile and the fact that some of the more hidden work that was up against our cabinets was not done with the same amount of attention to detail as the other work. I understand that it isn't as obvious to everybody who stops by, but I see it and do think it's important to have everything done well. To Andrew's credit, he did come back for a third time then to take care of everything and ultimately we got good results.

I am kind of shocked to receive the grades that I did on this one. On my website is pictures of the clients backslash (within the view latest projects section) its the large white tile with the metallic stripe in between it. This job turned out really nice. The imperfections had to occur becuase the client installed things in the wrong order; the plumbing was installed prior to the backslash and the under cabinet lighting. This is understandable from a clients perspective because this is the first time this client went through the remodeling process. I did point out there were going to be places that I couldn't get perfect and she accepted that (in person and within my bid in writing). I think this client would of been happier had she delegated the entire project to a professional instead of saving money by acting as her own general contractor. The variations and imperfections that are very minor and not visible to most people occurred due to poor planning and poor material choice for the level of detail the client was trying to achieve. People need to realize that things within construction are done in a certain order. If you deviate from that your job won't turn out as nice and take longer. I made the most out of a difficult client to work for and mismanaged working conditions. I certainly don't want to work for these people again after reading their distorted review.

Project went well. Initially meet with Nordic tile for estimate and received counsel as well; i.e. types of tile, types of grout and vendors to contact for tiles. We had a fair idea of what we wanted, but Andrew suggested we visit a tile showroom. Good advice. Tile selection was more difficult than first thought. Once tile arrived Andrew came over, prepped the area, and adhered the tiles. He returned the next day to grout. We are very pleased. Our kitchen looks renewed. The work excellent. Our adult children love it. It has passed the critical test. We would use Nordic Tile in the future

These clients have been using me on and off for the last 5 years now. They're latest project was to tile a kitchen back splash with varying sized tile and decorative lineal pencil accent tile of a contrasting color. Because of detailed and numerous correspondence in the tile selection phase; the job really turned out nice (view the latest projects section of my website). The clients said the work "looked like it had been there forever" which I was pleased to hear because of the houses age of almost a century. I used a special type of grout which holds up to mold and mildew so that the work won't deteriorate over the next hundred years... Thank you for the work and great review!

We hired Andrew to complete a complete bath remodel. Andrew coordinated all aspects of the remodel from demolition of the old bath down to the studs, foundational repairs, ordering of supplies, coordinating of painting, plumbing and electrical. During the demolition, Andrew identified structural issues and recommended remediation to ensure that the floors and walls were level and structurally sound. We had a design in mind for the bathroom that we reviewed with Andrew prior to starting any of the tile work. Andrew had great suggestions that we had not thought of. Andrew called nightly to recap the progress made during that day, discuss the work he would be doing the following day and suggestions on how to improve upon our design. Andrews has a great sense of design and his suggestions really helped pull the multiple tiles and stones in our design together. His tile work throughout the bath was perfect; clean, level, straight lines and excellent transitions. We really appreciated Andrew’s daily calls, his attention to detail, openness, candor, sense of humor and flexibility in his schedule to accommodate delays in receiving supplies and working around plumbers, electricians and painters. We highly recommend Andrew.

We hired Andrew (Nordic Tile) based on our satisfaction with him on previous projects he has done for us. Andrew was very straightforward about costs. Demo was bid hourly, so we ended up getting half of our demo budget back because it took him less time. Work was completed on/under budget and on schedule. Andrew was able to work around the schedule of our countertop installation so that demo (of the old back splash) was completed immediately before countertop installation and tile was installed shortly afterward so we didn't have to live in a 'construction zone' for any longer than necessary. Andrew also spent most of his labor day holiday working on this project so we could have it finished as soon as possible. The new back splash is a huge improvement over what we had, so I am very happy with the results of this project.

These clients give me a job every couple of years. Each successive job gets higher in design from the last. This latest one involved a metallic and glass mosaic blend which worked really well with their absolute black granite counter top. Under my "view latest projects" section off my website you can see the results for yourself. Thanks for the great review! Can't wait to see what these client comes up with for the next project.

Working with Nordic Tile has been an all-around disastrous experience. We chose Andrew based on his seemingly good tiling knowledge and experience, as well as his great ratings on Angies List. Because he?s a multiple-time Super Service Award winner, we never, ever imagined how truly awful his workmanship would be. We now have to tear it all out and start over ? after spending nearly $5000 with Andrew. He set tiles on crooked walls without giving us the option to straighten the walls first; he set tiles crookedly all around the bathroom; he left piles of messy grout in corners and elsewhere and put so much grout around a river-rock shower floor that you can hardly see the rocks. Walls he constructed are bowed and not level and of course, the tile on them now looks awful. In the end, he left us with an embarrassment for a master bathroom that now needs to be gutted. We've had four different tile companies and an architect out to see the work and all agree it is substandard and that not much, if anything, is salvageable. There are photos that show examples of the poor-quality work (including ones where we have placed a level against his work, clearly pointing out unevenness and shoddy craftsmanship) in case anyone wants to see them, or in case Andrew cares to dispute our claims.

Response from NORDIC TILE
It is unfortunate when any client is not happy at the end of a job, but it is important to view the facts objectively. First, there are several photos of the member's bath project posted on the Nordic Tile website so that any interested person can look at the work for themselves (click on view latest projects tabs 1-3). They will see that it does not match the complaint description by the members. Secondly, it is true that a wall is out of square in their bath area, but this was specifically pointed out to them before tile was placed on the wall. The statement that they were not aware is false. The wall was an existing condition created by others before Nordic Tile’s work and the impact on the finished tile work is only visible on close inspection as Nordic tile was very careful not to accentuate the issue. Thirdly, Nordic Tile arranged for the client to actually watch and accept the grouting of the river rock in the shower in real time. Fourth, the tile is a natural cut stone product and the tiles are, therefore, not absolutely identical. All tiles were placed as level and evenly as the existing walls would permit and grouted evenly. I would again refer the reader to the photos on the Nordic Tile website. Finally, all tile is placed in real world conditions. The slightly out of square wall in the Palmer bath is a typical example. The construction industry, therefore, recognizes that small variations or “tolerances” are acceptable in finished work and are not considered to be defects requiring repair or replacement. I thought it might be difficult to get someone to do this project because it was a small job but Andrew came out quickly to price it and squeezed it in between larger projects a week or two after that. The floor looks great. I would highly recommend him.
Description of Work: Andrew removed some partial tiles that surrounded an old bathroom vanity that had been torn out. He replaced these partial tiles with new full tiles and filled in the bare spot (under the old vanity) with new tiles.

Ya, I have no problem doing these small repairs as long as the clients are close in proximity to me, and they are reasonable to work for. When you're putting new tile up against old stuff you have to remember that the grout will never match perfectly, which the client in this case did. Very happy to help, thanks for the review.
