Created a travertine and glass mosiac tile backsplash. The tile work beautifully complemented the space, giving it a tuscan feel. Clients were super to work with, straightforward and prompt in payment. Thanks for the review!

Description of Work: Andrew leveled the floor and installed porcelain tile in the entryway of my home, about 100 sq ft. | |I am happy with the result. The floor was very uneven and Andrew did a nice job getting it level. As soon as we both agreed the leveling was complete he installed the tile in no time and gave me great info on how to clean and maintain the tile and grout to make it last. I was happy with the price and the work. I would hire Nordic Tile / Andrew again and recommend his services to a friend.

Client hired us to initially consult them on a tile project and then proceed to hire us for the whole thing. Clients front entryway was immediately off his lower level split level garage. The original contractors put the hallway in as an afterthought and it was originally sloped to a central garage drain. In its original state, there was no way tile was going to work. Client hired us to reinforce some of the cracks in his concrete due to settling, create a more even/level plane, and tile a large format porcelain tile with enhanced grout. Job was a huge success thanks to the client holding up his end of the workload, and the thoughtful coordination between us. Thanks for the great review!

Description of Work: After meeting with four companies, I hired Andrew Forsmark/Nordic Tile to install a kitchen backsplash behind our counter (10' x 21") and stove (5' x 21"). Andrew confirmed he was confident working with the 1x2" glass & stone tiles (12x12" sheets). The finished job was a gross disappointment, with workmanship so poor I had to repair the surrounding walls. Specifically: The rows of tile are uneven, appearing wavy and disjointed. The grout work is rough and uneven. Clumps of grout were left stuck to the counters, sink and faucet, and spattered on the kitchen walls. | |When the job was half done I sent Adam an email, with pictures, documenting my concerns. His response was quick and reassuring: The uneven tiles must have moved in the grouting process, he'd fix them and the damage to the walls caused by the grout. He ended up tearing out a large section of the backsplash and re-doing it. This required buying (and waiting for) more tile. | |When the job was finally done, it looked entirely DIY v. professional. Adam came over to review it with me. | |When I pointed out the disjointed tile lines, rough grout, and remaining wall damage, Adam blamed his assistant Louis, as Louis was the one to actually install the tile. Then he blamed me, saying I hadn't been onsite to call his attention to the uneven tile; finally he blamed Life itself, saying no one and nothing is perfect.

Description of Work: Andrew Forsmark did the underfloor heating and tiling of a 240 sq ft basement. All materials for the job were included in the cost of the service as he sourced and paid for them, earning us discounts on tile and heating. | |Andrew is a gem. He gave us lots of advice up front on options for both laying underfloor heating in our basement and tiling. Taking his suggestions on board, we ended up with a beautiful metallic gold/green tile that has garnered much praise. The underfloor heating also works a treat. |We had many back and forths on details and in all cases he was prompt, precise and clear with all our options. He never rushed us. |I ended up using a recommended professional tile shop (guarantee of consistent tiles across packages) and though it was a pricier than the original plan, he used his name to get us a discount and the end product was far superior to our first plan. The room is lifted in quality due to that tile. |For the underfloor heating, we thought we might need a heat barrier to avoid wasting heat on the soil/concrete slab below. He explained that we were below the permafrost line and spending money on a barrier would be additional cost that may not pay back over time. We went with one anyway - he chose one that was both effective, easy to install, and relatively cheaper than the other options. |While performing the entire job he was prompt, pleasant and courteous. He also has a marvelous singing voice - well worth listening in on. His uncanny resemblance to the Irish comedian - Chris O'Dowd - went beyond mere looks, he was also funny. A good time was had by all. |With the underfloor heating we needed a certified electrician - he hired one he has worked with before. Pat is a man of distinction - exact, careful, and fun. Though he was around for just a short time, he left a great impression. I would definitely get his number for future electrical work. |All in all, he worked hard to get us what we wanted and when we wanted it. He was committed to another job two weeks out from ours and made it clear that it was already on the books. He put in the effort to get us a perfect floor, ready for use, before he moved on. | |I will be hiring him again in the coming weeks to tile more of the lower level as we were so impressed with his work so far. |

Andrew did an excellent job. I'd highly recommend him, here's why: He took time to review the entire job with me before starting. Made several excellent suggestions, especially the suggestion to add a horizontal deco strip. I had never thought of that, it looks great. Andrew has the ability to visualize how the tile patterns will look when mounted and make all of those small but critical tile-cutting calculations that make or break a professional looking job. Reasonable price, very fast.

Andrew did a great job. He is a true craftsman. He had some good ideas that we used and he listened to what we wanted. No details were missed. His bid wasn't the cheapest, but you get what you pay for.

Andrew did not give enough thought to the details of the installation. As a result, the tile was crooked along the tub and did not look good at all. When we expressed our concerns, he attributed it to the room not being square, but by then, the tile was set in place with the thin set. We were very disappointed with the job.

Andrew did a great job of tiling our fireplace and entryway with travertine (similar to limestone) tile. I had him include a circular mosaic in the entryway, and the result was very nice, but the fireplace is really outstanding. His schedule was flexible, which worked for us, and the estimate was pretty reasonable too. He was a pleasure to work with, and I'd hire him again for other tile work in the future.

Andrew did a great job and it was a pleasure to work with him. The project required of bit of custom work and he showed a lot of knowledge and skill. He was flexible and adapted well to small issues (that always seem to happen with remodeling). He was also respectful with regards to noise and mess (important as I work from home). Andrew was also good in consulting on future care and maintenance of the travertine and marble stones. I am definitely pleased with the work and the neighbors are jealous of the custom herringbone pattern.
Description of Work: Custom pattern kitchen flooring and leveling. Bathroom base edging and deco tiles. Tiling of custom made shampoo wall caddy. Fabricated Travertine for kitchen and created custom bullnose edging for marble in the bathroom.

We needed the repair completed in a short time, at an economical price with dependability. We got all three. In addition, A. Forsmark investigated the source of the leak. (Initially I thought it could be a plumbing leak.) He resolved that it was not and offered suggestions for repair. He was able to match new tile to the existing one and integrated the new ones into the old wall giving the wall an even or level look. I was concerned with what the final appearance would be because the original tiles had not been evenly applied. He did a masterful job. Our repair was a smaller job. In the past I have found it difficult to find tradesmen willing to work smaller jobs. That was not at all the case here. I felt I got the same quality and attention that a larger project would.
Description of Work: Work consisted of bathroom repair of wall and tile in area between the tub's water supply and the showerhead. The grout between tiles had eroded and moisture leaked to the wall behind making mush of the lath and plaster wall. Work consisted of replacing damaged plaster and applying new tiles, then regrouting.
