JR was on time, gave a very clear explanation that there was not a leak, but it was probably a moisture issue in the attic. Gave me several pointers to help reduce the moisture and several ideas to help with issue when summer comes.

great - JR shows up and does work as planned and on time

JR was very friendly, communicative and punctual. Initially I was eager to hire him for his services. He gave me an estimate that seemed high, but I'm not a roofer and I took him at his word without feeling like I needed a second opinion. I was about to schedule him when he told me he could not work in my neighborhood during the evenings. I did not expect him to work in the dark, but I work everyday until 5 so having him work in the evening was most convenient for me. He then said "around here (northside minneapolis) tend to get stolen." Despite the higher crime rates in North Minneapolis, my neighborhood is safe and I've never had a problem with having service people work on my property. He made several similar remarks like "I don't know how you girls feel around here..." It was extremely unprofessional and made me uncomfortable. He also made a culturally insensitive remark about visiting a country he could not remember the name of. He referred to it as "some India country." I later hired a roofer who had no problem working in my neighborhood and charged me half the price.

JR came out to assess my roof. He was professional, on time, and honest. After looking at my roof, it was decided a new one was not needed immediately. JR did not try to up sell me at all. When I do decide to replace the roof, I will for sure be using Nokomis Roofing!

JR came and assessed my roof. He was very honest with describing to me what my real world options were, and did not try and up-sell me into services I did not need. They did a great job repairing my near end-of-life roof and I will definitely be hiring them again in the next year or two for a full roof replacement.

JR arrived promptly to do an evaluation/estimate, but upon climbing his ladder and making his way to peak flat portion of second story roof, he noted that an access point cover was missing, probably blown off. He very kindly described the straightforward fix and also recommended a DIY aluminum paint to apply on the modified flat roof surface. Very helpful to me, affordable to me, but no job for him. That's professional. I'll call again when I have need for a professional roofer.

He was on time and very gracious. He told me straight up that my roof was in fine shape and would probably last another 5 years. This came as quite a relief as I am on a fixed income. He did an inspection to check for small issues and told me my chimney cap definitely needed repair and recommended a mason when I asked. This was an A+ experience. I will definitely call him when I do need the roof replaced.

We had a great experience with Nokomis Roofing. I called the owner, JR, when our roof started leaking and he was out within an hour or two to put down some bentonite that would stop leaks instantly. The bentonite only lasts for so long so we got on his list for more permanent repairs. He came out and patched several large areas of the roof and also sealed along the edge of the roof where there is a metal gutter system that he thought might be cutting into the modified bitumen and causing leaks. JR did a really thorough job of checking over the roof for areas that needed repair and sent me lots of photos of his work. He also really takes the time to explain what he is doing and why. Rates are very reasonable, he spent probably 12-15 hours on our roof over several days and this cost $2300. Compare that with $1200 that we paid a different company 2 years ago for 2 guys to come out for a couple hours and patch a couple of spots where nails had poked up. And the other guys completely missed some big problems on the roof that absolutely needed to be fixed. We would definitely recommend Nokomis Roofing.

JR, the owner of Nokomis Roofing, came quickly after I called about my flat roof issue over my house's addition. It had a long tear in it and was starting to look old and in need of replacing. He thoroughly explained my roofing options and recommended a white roofing material that is both long-lasting and is better at resisting the sun's heat. If you've ever had a flat roof made of rolled black rubber, you know how warm the rooms underneath can get in the summer. He gave me a quote on the spot, which was well within my budget and expectation, so I hired him then and there. His contract was short and easy to understand, and he didn't apply any pressure at all to sign up his firm. Shortly after hiring Nokomis Roofing, his crew came out and did the demo. They quickly hauled the old roof away, so I could get a quote for rebuilding my deck and not have anything in the way. Also, they always made sure to cover the roof with tarps while the job was in progress. And when they completed the roof, they ensured the site was clean and free of any nails or debris. JR and his crew were always professional and came when they said they would. His company got the job done quickly, especially considering he was fighting against a very raining summer in Minneapolis. I will definitely have Nokomis Roofing do any future roof work on my house. On a side note, JR was not just professional but very friendly and easy to talk to, and his knowledge and experience in the roofing industry was both wide and deep. Thanks Nokomis Roofing! JR came out within two hours of my call. What the gutter contractor told me was wrong with my roof and quoted me a starting price of $1500, JR educated me that there was nothing wrong and it was normal. First class guy, professional, prompt, honest (Very honest!) and likeable. My next roof will be a Nokomis Roofing roof. Thanks JR!!!!

I have actually had this company come and rake my roof during the winter months for at least about 2-3 of years now. I've had ice dams and initially contacted Nokomis roofing when the problem first surfaced and I had water inside the window frame (between the outer siding and the inside walls). When I initially called, JR came out immediately (it was in the evening hours as I recall) and got all the snow and ice dam off my roof. I've had him do maintenance roof raking ever since. He (or one of his employees) will come rake my roof whenever there is 2 inch snowfall. So nice to come home from work after a heavy snowfall and not have to worry about ice dam water damage when I see the work has already been done. When I have been home and see JR or one of his staff, they are always very friendly and professional. I suspect my roof will need replacing soon and I will definitely be using this company when the time comes!

JR at Nokomis Roofing did an excellent job on my roof. When my dormer flat roof blew off during high winds last week, he responded immediately, assessed the damages and presented and explained all my options. He began emergency repairs immediately and began the rebuild a few days later and completed that in a very short time frame. He was prompt, courteous and reliable. His price was extremely fair and his work is superior. He has been invited back to now do a total shingle replacement on the house and garage. My chimney also came tumbling down from the high winds and JR called an acquaintance that responded immediately and fixed the chimney. I highly recommend him.

We have a flat roof on our home and have been plagued with small leaks we attempted to repair ourselves. We called a number of different roofing companies, and J.R. was the only one that came through for us. He came out to evaluate our roof the day I called him and was here the next day to do repairs. He was very thorough and helpful, straightforward and honest. When we put a new roof on our home next year we will definitely be using Nokomis Roofing! I would recommend and will be using his services again.

Job took a little longer than expected due to off and on rain early this summer, but very happy with the result. JR takes great personal care to make sure job is done right - no shortcuts. He did a few extra things that were not in contract and much appreciated. He stands by his work and will come out to building once per year to check on condition. We would definitely use JR again.

The visit went really well- he's an easy guy to talk, listened attentively to my history of roof issues, and was quick to get into looking at the roof. He arrived about 1/2 hour early and spent a good amount of time on top of the roof. A past roofer I met with a while back had quoted a good amount of work that JR suggested not spending the time or money to do (for various reasons), which aligned with my original thinking. He clearly had a ton of experience and knowledge about how roofing should be done, and was clearly different than most of the other roofers that I've kind of come to be irritated by (the type that don't stand behind they're work). I liked that he wasn't pushing a solution without knowing the details. I also liked that he doesn't seem to use a huge crew or an unskilled crew. He appeared to a methodical guy that didn't make statements that he couldn't back up (or help me understand), but stating that he needs to look at things in more detail before coming up with a plan/quote. I plan to talk to him further about the job.

See above - completely unresponsive and unprofessional. DO NOT CALL. Not worth the effort to have to babysit someone to do their job!!!!!

I called and left a message on a Saturday. JR called right away Monday morning and promised to come out at 2 that same afternoon. He showed up precisely on time and examined the roof. He didn't try to exaggerate the problem or sell me anything I did not need. His employees came the next day and did the repair. Despite JR's concern, the shingles even matched! Although I don't really want to have to re-roof, when the time comes I know it will be okay- I'll just call Nokomis Roofing!

Nokomis Roofing was one of several companies to bid on our roof. They did not respond to an estimate request via the website, but were very prompt when reached by phone a day or two later, delivering the estimate within a few hours. The price was competitive with the company we ended up going with, but I would not have hesitated to hire Nokomis.
