It went great. Kurt and Dave were courteous and great to work with. We had Kurt re-do a basement bedroom and bathroom- basically repairing and then painting all surfaces. There was quite a sequence needed to get the job done, since we had old wallpaper that first had to be removed and then the walls and ceiling needed to be skim-coated prior to painting. Kurt is very meticulous and wants to make sure you are happy with his work. We trusted them with a house key, so they could come and go on the project. Very happy.

Kurt is on-time, trustworthy, friendly and reliable. He does high-quality work and is attentive to detail--and he does a wonderful job cleaning up when the project is finished. He is patient and helpful in choosing colors and making project decisions. Kurt is also helpful in recommending other contractors for non-painting jobs.

Kurt and David did an excellent job - great attention to detail. They went out of their way to accommodate this job. Worked quickly and cheerfully and cleaned up thoroughly when finished. They had to come back two weeks later because a panel on one of the doors was damaged so a replacement was shipped. Again, it was no problem for them to come promptly and they completed the job in a jiffy. Good work.

I needed to update my townhouse in order to sell it. I had had a fire 7 years earlier and the disaster recovery company had cut some aesthetic corners in rebuilding, resulting in streaking in the bathroom wall and knot holes showing through a single coat of paint on a two story wood fireplace/chimney. I had three painting companies give estimates. Kurt and his business partner David were the most thorough in diagnosing the need for oil seals on the bathroom and fireplace and in identifying what was needed to restore the wallpapered bathroom. Their estimate was the middle price of the three but their thoroughness convinced me to hire them.. I had first asked for painting only one floor but they were easily able to expand the project to the entire townhouse later. We requested several different similar shades of paint on different walls and they kept all that straight plus recommended colors that worked very well in the bathrooms. They spotted a door that needed to be painted to match the surrounding wall and did that without being asked. All the work was completed beautifully and right on schedule. The house sold in 3 days, in part because it looked so good. Though I won't be in the Twin Cities any more, I would strongly recommend Kurt and David to anyone needing truly professional painting.

Kurt from NEWDAY and David from Dreaming Colors Painting patched the ceiling and repainted the entire bathroom . They also patched a spot on the ceiling in another bathroom and retouched up all the wood work in that bathroom. I also had them refinish our front door which is wood. They were very friendly , professional, responsible, and trustworthy. I allowed them access to my home when I was not there. They called me at work to keep me informed on the progress of the project which took 2.5 days to complete. They cleaned up before leaving. I would hire them again and in fact have another project that is planned for the spring. I would highly recommend their work to others.

Kurt did a really nice job of removing the wallpaper, especially since we knew that it was going to be difficult. I had visions of big chunks of drywall missing after the paper was removed (since that had happened in another room with a different contractor with the same situation--wallpaper glued directly to drywall). He was able to remove the wallpaper, but was a little disappointed that he could not remove all of the backing (only a very thing layer remained). It was not economically feasible to remove every bit of the old wallpaper, and with some sanding and careful priming, there was never a trace of the remaining layer. He skimcoated the whole room and then primed again, and painted. The walls look perfect. He even waived his normal additional $120 fee for painting different colors on different walls because he wanted to be sure we felt like we got our money's worth. He did a good job of cleaning up and was very flexible to work around our vacation schedule (which fell right during the middle of the job). He and his partner Dave were very personable and very easy to have around--which was important since they were here for about a week to finish the job. It took a while to get him out to give me an estimate, and his vacation schedule delayed things a bit (as did ours), but the quality of the work (and the waived $120 fee) more than made up for that. I'd definitely use him again.

You know it went just fine. Kurt partnered with another company so two guys worked on it at once. It sort of seemed like they were in each other's way from time to time and price might have been lower if only one person worked on the room but since I am not into painting, I do not know. And my feeling may have been wrong being as I was not here while they were working. It was a good sized job. I will use them again due to their top level of service.

Kurt's bid was competitive with the others I sought. He was very pleasant to work with. He did a great job of repairing a window frame that had been damaged by a squirrel that had gotten into the house. The wrong kind of paint was inadvertently used on one of the closets. Kurt came back right away and re-did it and made sure I was satisfied.

Kurt was incredibly responsive and professional. We were in a hurry to have the work completed before some relatives came to visit, and Kurt fit us into his schedule and completed the plastering/sanding/priming/painting in 2 1/2 days. We were at work and gave Kurt a key to the house. Kurt and his worker were careful to keep the area picked up at the end of the day. The stairwell had very high ceilings, and the ceilings were somewhat damaged and in need of some plastering and painting, which Kurt also did. The results are amazing--no one can tell that there is wallpaper beneath the paint. The walls and ceiling look clean, and the paint job is wonderful. Our house has a lot of original woodwork to paint around, and Newday did a fantastic job. I would highly recommend them!

David and Kurt are dependable and produce quality, detailed work. They did a painstaking job on 2 very damaged set of walls, and now the rooms look brand new. They followed my instructions for low VOC paint, and took special care to use products that didn't aggravate my asthma and my son's allergies. They are personable without being intrusive and I enjoyed having them around! I will definitely use them again. I want my whole house to look like the rooms they did :)

Kurt was a delight to work with. He teamed up with a business partner from Dreaming Colors, and the two of them worked exceedingly well together. The paint job is the best I have ever had in any of my homes. It was so good that I asked him to paint the woodwork, as well, which he made time to do. The work carried over into a second day, and he finished the job while I was at work, cleaning up after himself thoroughly. There were absolutely no issues with his company, and I plan to use Kurt again when I'm ready to redo the kitchen.

Kurt does great work and comes with very helpful suggestions. He takes great pride in his work and won't leave until he's satisfied his very high expectations.

The quality of the work is great! They came in and completed the work in 2 days and I am so happy with the results. It was very evident they loved and took great pride in their work, which meant I was a happier customer. Kurt suggested a couple things I had not mentioned which I really appreciated as it definitely finished the look. A couple of the ledges had some previous damage to them, and he was very upfront on what he thought he would be able to do and not do so that there were no surprises. He also gave me some ideas on other work that I need to have done, and I will definitely be looking to have him do that in the future.

Kurt Grundmeier was a professional from start to finish-from door sanding to the final coat of paint and touch-up. The work was timely, reasonably priced, and of high quality. Kurt maintains a high quality of output while he moves at a quick and steady pace. He is honest, personable, and a person of high integrity.

It was excellent. He was very thorough, friendly, and accomodating with my busy schedule. He went above and beyond.

The painting was very detailed and intricate. Painters came as promised and spent over two weeks working hard to get the job done. They were always punctual and kept me up to date on a daily basis. They were easy to work with and worked around our chaotic home with two small children and a dog. They did all the work requested and double checked to make sure that we were satisfied.

The job was okay. We trusted them to go into the house without anyone home. We did need some touch up in the bathroom and I don't think they did two coats in there like they said. However, they did come back and touch up right away. He wasn't happy about it and let us know. They did bring people into the house to "show off" the paint he said. I was not happy about having strangers in the house without our permission. I thought this was very unprofessional and didn't ask. The job took a little longer than originally thought, although homeowners were on vacation, so it was okay. Also, it cost more than the estimate, due to three coats in master bedroom... I don't believe three coats were put on (probably two) but how do you prove that? e

Kurt and Chris did a fantastic job. They were higher than another bid but were willing to negotiate. I still paid more but decided to use them because of their very professional demeanor, detailed plan, and considerable knowledge. They were extremely meticulous - job took 4 days - and they kept me informed throughout. I used some dark colors so some walls/rooms needed more than one coat and they look terrific! They wernt way out of their way to be sure I was satisfied and were great at addressing any concerns I had. I would definately highly recommend them. Wonderful experience!

Overall, it went very well. Kurt is prompt in returning calls and stayed in touch throughout the project if he had questions. He is a quick and careful worker and cleaned up well at the end of the project. The whole thing took about 4 days, some of them were partial days while waiting for coats to dry, etc. He has a friendly helper guy too. The finished job looks very professional.

I had pulled down the outer layer of some very dated and shabby wheat patterned wallpaper in my kitchen, front hall, and down the stairs to the family room of our ranch style home. I had removed the wallpaper in three other rooms last year so knew how to do the job but, after steaming one spot well beyond saturation only to find that I still couldn't scrape the paper backing and glue off, I gave up and opted to go outside and landscape instead. 5 months and a lot of landscaping later my thoughts turned to Thanksgiving and the fact that I would be hosting 32 people for a sit down dinner in just a couple of months. My front hall, kitchen, and wall along the main staircase were all a shambles. I knew that there was no way that I could finish the job I'd started last spring in time for Thanksgiving and still have my sanity as my husband and I have many other projects we need to finish before the snow flies. Naturally I turned to Angie's List for help as I love being able to choose job candidates based on client reviews, not what the companies want me to believe is true about their services. I am a snob- I admit it. I will only choose from among companies with a grade of A, I want nothing less than excellence. I called three companies for estimates; two returned my call. Kurt and David met with my husband and emailed their estimate within the week. Their estimate came in lower than the other company, but it was their enthusiasm for doing the job and the fact that they themselves would do the work within a few weeks that sold me. Kurt and David did a great job. Every evening they tidied the house so that my husband and I could still live in the space; they made the whole process a pleasant experience. I was even vindicated for my failure to remove the wallpaper when Kurt and David found that large areas of wallpaper had been stuck to the walls using some unusual glue- they had to chip it off and then repair the drywall! My walls now look beautiful and I'm not having a nervous breakdown trying finish the job I started!

They did a very good job with the finished work. They were friendly and very accommodating. They were somewhat careless with cleaning up the paint. They got some paint on my wood floors and an electrical plug.

The project went very well. The work was done on schedule and in a quality manner. They carefully covered carpeting and other objects in the rooms, and always cleaned up carefully at the end of each day. I asked to have some trim in another room touched up, and they took care of this at no extra charge.

We were very pleased with Newday's work and professionalism. After removing thick wallpaper in the living room and foyer, they painted (walls and trim) our living room, dining room, foyer, hall, and four bedrooms upstairs. They also painted our basement rec room. They worked fast and finished when they said they would. We trusted them in our home and they cleaned up after themselves. Newday was one of three companies we had bid this job, and while they didn't come in the least expensive, we feel the extra expense was worth the attention to detail they provided. I would recommend Newday to my friends.
