+ -1 moreI am in the middle of a move with Mohawk righty now and would not recommend them. They committed to delivering our household a week ago and they still have not done so. Even worse, they won’t commit to a new date - saying they have no idea when they can get it here. My calls with them are all words - no action or real support. They were very prompt at taking our cash up front - I wish they were even close to that diligent in delivering their services. Truly - they are the weak link on our move adding so much stress as we sit in our new home with nothing here, and having ti buy stuff everyday just to stay here.

+ 0 moreThey packed a 2 floor ranch in less than 4 hours, so they were really efficient.and nothing was missed in the unloading. I loved the bar-code system they used for boxes - very efficient. Only one glass was broken, but it wasn't an expensive one. All in all I was so pleased. On move-in day, a Mohawk supervisor called me several times to check how things were going. I always had a contact person for questions . The movers themselves were great and treated my furniture as if it belonged to them. All told, a great experience. The cost of service below includes 4 months of furniture storage.
Description of Work: I needed help with packing up the house after it had sold. We were going to an apartment with some things, and the rest went to storage. On move in day, Mohawk had to pick up furnishings from storage and the apartment, and move everything into the new condo. They never missed a step.

+ -1 moreVery easy process for our move. Made some last minute changes to service and they were able to quickly take care of our last second requests. Haven't used PODS but whey would you when these guys are cheaper and EXCELLENT at customer service and meeting your needs? This is the way to go to move and if I every have to again (HOPEFULLY I WON'T!!!) I will use these guys again.
Description of Work: Dropped off empty container, moved it to our new home and came and got it when we emptied it.

+ -1 moreEverything went wonderfully. They were very responsive to our initial request and provided a competitive price. We set up delivery, got the rental agreement signed online (very convenient by the way) and paid. They even called a day before the scheduled delivery and offered to deliver it a day early (at no extra cost) because they had some extra time. We were moving to a new house and calling to get the container moved was very easy and done within a reasonable amount of time. And pickup of the empty container was just as easy as everything else. The part that moved me to write the review, however, was surrounding an errant charge on my credit card. As soon as I noticed it, I double checked the 'fine print' on our agreement and it still looked to be incorrect. So, I called Dirk and left a voicemail about my concern and he called back within 5 minutes. He took a quick second to look up our charges and discovered that it was indeed an incorrect charge and refunded it on the spot. No hassle, no argument. When you're dealing with a vendor for the first time and there's a billing issue, you really just have no clue how it is going to turn out. But I will say that Dirk was extremely gracious, helpful and professional. I will use Go Mini's again and will recommend them to anyone else needing portable storage!

+ -1 moreWhen they came to load the truck they told us they couldn't give us a 48-hour window yet, without any explanation of why. Over the course of the next few days, we called trying to find out what our window would be. Finally, on the 7th, they told us that our things wouldn't be delivered by the 9th. In fact, although we were in New York by this time (and had been since the 1st) all of our stuff was still in Minneapolis in their warehouse. What's more, they still didn't have a driver to bring it East. Apparently, they overbooked their drivers so badly that they had no idea when they'd have somebody available to bring all our furniture and belongings to us. They estimated our things might arrive by the 14th. Maybe. (This is after, while we were deciding which moving company to choose, they sent us multiple emails telling us to "book now!" before they ran out of availability. So, apparently, despite that, they booked moves beyond their driver availability and never told us that this was a risk.) At this point, we're trying to decide whether my husband will fly back to Minnesota and drive our things here himself in a U-Haul or whether we'll book a different moving company to do that. We chose Mohawk because they seemed more professional than other movers we interviewed. We are very disappointed to be still camping in our new apartment with our infant daughter and no definitive word on when we can expect to have our things. The only recourse they've offered us is $100 for every day that they are late after the promised July 9 delivery date.
Description of Work: They were supposed to pack our house up in Minneapolis and move us to Troy, New York, and unload the truck there. When we signed the contract, we were told that our things would be delivered between July 1 and July 9 and that we would be given a more-specific 48-hour window when they loaded the truck.

+ -1 moreWe used Mohawk movers 12 years ago to move to Hudson, WI and we liked their services so much that when it came time to move again we gave them priority in choosing between movers. They came to our home at the scheduled time for the free in-home estimate. The in-home estimate was important to me because we were doing a partial move and I wanted to talk through particular scenarios with the estimator. The communication process during the quote building was so poor - it seemed that we could barely figure out a date/time for the move and it took forever to get on the same page about the hourly price for moving and how long the move would take. Although I had concerns, I continued to rely on our previous excellent experience with Mohawk. On the day of our move, the 3 movers arrived promptly and professionally. They had been told that it was mostly a "big item" move rather than boxes. In reality, the opposite was true. It also hadn't been communicated to them that we wanted to use the complimentary wardrobe boxes so they didn't have those on the truck. Despite the minor glitches caused by the miscommunication to them from the estimator, they remained pleasant and professional. After our move was completed, the statement was prepared and it was $300 over the estimate! Most of this was because we had been misquoted on the drive time to/from the move site(s). On the quote we were told it would be 30 minutes - but in reality we were charged for 1.5 hours! We attempted to clear this up with Mohawk the next business day and we were told that the estimator would get back to us. He said that he would review the paperwork from the moving crew and get back to me, but he never did. We're getting ready to move the rest of the things from Hudson to Woodbury and we will NOT be using Mohawk movers.

+ -1 moreI called two weeks ago to set up a time to get an estimate to move our household goods from Woodbury, MN to Las Vegas, NV. I even got an e-mail confirmation of when they would have someone come to our home to give the estimate. After waiting for over 30 minutes for their person to show up at the appointed time, we called the main office. They had no record of our appointment and offered nothing more than a lame apology for not showing up. They made no attempt whatsoever to schedule another person or to even apologize for being a no show. I would definitely NOT recommend this organization to anyone planning a move.

+ -1 moreWithout a doubt this is one of the most "can do" companies I have every worked with. Dirk is a delightful, positive person that made a challenging request possible. His company delivered a durable, safe storage unit and was willing to juggle it into a tight space for a very reasonable price. The storage unit made a home remodeling project possible and the skill and attitudes of the people in the company inspires us to recommend them to anyone needing a storage unit.
Description of Work: Delivered a portable storage unit that fit in our small driveway by the garage off the alley. It stayed there for three months during a remodeling project.

+ -1 moreI told them to be careful of some very fragile items. Also, we had boxes of electronics such as a DVD player and VCR player. We kept them open just as they requested. The boxes were moved several times between smaller and bigger trucks. When the boxes were delivered, the VCR didn’t work. They did not reimburse us for the VCR because there was no external damage. We have this antique desk table that had been refinished, looked beautiful and was expensive. When it arrived, it had a scratch. We did get some reimbursement for it. However, it was one of the things we told them to take care of. There were other things damaged such as our fan, sofa, and bookshelf. We were upset about how they didn’t take care of our belongings especially when we requested that they do. I wouldn’t use them again.
Description of Work: I hired them for moving from Minnesota to Pennsylvania. They also did some of the packing.

+ -1 moreI had no problem with the sales rep, packers, loaders or unloaders. They all arrived on time, were pleasant and did a good job. However, dealing with the business office is another story. I was entitled to a refund, the value of which changed between moving day Bill of Lading and the actual check. (Apparently, their math skills leave a lot to be desired.) If I had not pursued the refund it would never have happened. My voice mails were NEVER returned and when I actually spoke to someone I got lots of apologies and little action. I finally did get a refund. The check was dated Feb. 1, 2014. I do not feel this is a very professional way to do business. . I would not recommend this company for these reasons. This is the first Angie's List recommend company that I have not been happy with.

Mohawk moved us out of the old house and put our things in their air-conditioned storage facility. When the new house was ready, our things were moved from storage to the new house. Everything went as planned. I couldn't be more pleased.

+ 0 moreWe rented a portable storage container from Mohawk Moving and Storage to store all our household items while our new home was being built. The container arrived on-time and they did a great job dropping it off and picking it up just when needed. We liked that we were able to access the container any time during the four months we used their services, which we did. During our move-in, the trailer arrived on time and was picked up as soon as we called. I liked the fact that there was always someone on call even during non-working hours. Which was great as they picked up the trailer earlier than originally planned. This resulted in the container being moved just hours before a big 12' snow storm. I wouldn't have been happy with a snowed-in container in the front of our house but they quickly responded to our request even though it was a Saturday.
Description of Work: Mowhawk Moving and Storage stored our household goods for four months while our new home was being built. They dropped off a container at our old house for a week while we filled it. After picking up the full container, they stored it in their secure yard. Then when our new house was move-in ready, the container was delivered and picked up the next day, after it have been emptied.

Description of Work: Mohawk did an absolutely fantastic job. I moved from Minnesota to N. C.which was very nerve wrecking on my part. Mohawk had set up the pick up date with United Van Lines and they were on time. United Van lines came into my home and before I new it they were done and the Van was packed. ,I have never seen 4 men work as hard as they did. I have very heavy furniture etc. and was concerned about the antiques that I have also. I packed everything myself and hoped nothing would be broken. The date was set up and United Van lines was here and the three guys unloaded everything. They set up my bed and placed all of my furniture where I wanted them to. Everything was set up and taken care of very professionally by Mohawk. The guys who loaded and unloaded everything were very nice. I had no worries and would recommend them to everyone.

+ -1 moreover my furniture. They wouldn't wait for me to look at the boxes or place them in the right room. One unloader couldn't hear or speak intelligibly. Numerous items are still missing and haven't been found but my claim was declined. Be very careful using Mohawk. They do not care about you as a human being.
Description of Work: I am so disappointed in this company that words seem inadequate to describe how careless, disrespectful and untrustworthy this company was. They left three boxes on my apartment's loading dock which they failed to put on the truck. After discovering this, the moving company failed to deliver these three boxes to my new home in Georgia nor would they pay to ship them. They were only interested in getting the job over on both loading and receiving ends. They wouldn't wash their hands or wear booties in my new place and dripped sweat all

I had a lot of fine china and crystal and not an item was broken. I would highly recommend them. They are not cheapest but reasonable.

I'd use them again in a heartbeat. Ask for Steve and Sharon's truck. They and their crew are awesome. If you're moving to or from MN, this is who to use!

She came out and walked through the house to provide an estimate. the price was a little higher than the others, but she delivered boxes to my house twice, which was worth the slight difference to me. The moving team arrived on time and worked non-stop. They were very courteous and helpful. The took my goods right over to my new place and kept working the entire time. I had no issues with any of my things and I would definitely use them again if needed.

+ -1 moreThe packers were excellent. The office staff was great until I started to complain about the sneaky price increases that came closer and on the day of my move. The "professional estimator" was completely despicable ... giving me a price and promising me that they would take great care of me and that he would watch over it as carefully as he would if it were his own wife. He came back....as I'm sure he had planned all along and found reasons to increase the price even though his reasons were not credible. I had done more packing than he had originally estimated that I would do in his first estimate. That was bad enough, but, to actually raise the price a third time on the day of the move...absolutely underhanded and obviously calculated. I don't know how they can sleep at night.
Description of Work: It has been almost a year since Mohawk Movers moved my family items from Shorewood, Minnesota to Norwalk, CT. I am still trying to recoup $2,110. 00 that they charged my credit card after my move. I was visited by their "professional estimator," on March 29, 2010, who assured me that he was an expert in his field...he gave me a price of $13,826.77 to which I agreed and signed his "Straight Talk Price Assurance" paperwork. I was promised a certain team of packers (who I did receive and who were excellent at their work). I was then visited by an employee of Mohawk in May, who brought me boxes and paper and he taught me how to carefully pack my breakables. As a result, I started to pack more than I had planned to do myself. I also gave away all of our heavy exercise equipment and our pool table...all of which were like new. I did not want to risk the price going up. On June 3, Ron the estimator came back to be sure that everything was "all set." That afternoon he sent a revised "Straight Talk Price Assurance" of $13,826.77 stating that it was because they needed to pack more than I had originally planned. I pointed out the EXTRA packing that I had done that he had originally included in his first estimate. This was obviously his deceptive tactic but I had no recourse and reluctantly signed the paperwork - I had no time to find another mover...my closing was in 3 weeks and I had to vacate the house. He kept reminding me that it was a busy time for movers and that it would be difficult to schedule my movers for the end of June if I didn't agree to his new estimate. The packers arrived on June 25 for a June 26 move and they were in the house for about 10 minutes when I received a call from Mohawk's office stating that the move was going to cost me an additional $2,110.00. The reason was that the "professional estimator" Ron did not include enough boxes of a certain size. It was infuriating as I was literally flying out the next day and there was nothing i could do. When my furniture arrived in CT they refused to release it without a signed credit card slip...I agreed to sign a slip for the 2nd price I was given and the furniture was released. A month later I received an additional charge to my credit card of $2,110.00 without my signature on a credit card slip. I have been trying to recoup that money ever since. American Express denied my case as all the moving docs were sent to them with my signature and the small print held me liable. When I suggested that the mistake the estimator had made should not come out of my pocket Mohawk blamed United Van Lines which is the parent company. I made several attempts to recoup the money from United and they simply played "word games" with me and blamed Mohawk. I am still trying as that money should NOT have been charged to my account after I paid for the delivery. WHAT A NIGHTMARE I've been through with them. I would NOT want anyone else to be ripped off they way that I was by Mohawk Movers/United Van Lines.
