Minneapolis Metro Tree and Crane

A certified arborist inspected the trees and informed us that oak trees should not be cut in July because of the danger of oak wilt, that remediation pruning of these trees will cost us $470.00, and that the removal of a third of the live canopy on one of the trees will cause it to lose vigor and decline. I spoke to Mike Strauss on September 28, 20101 and he said that he treated the wounds on the tree to prevent oak wilt. He also indicated that he told our neighbor that this was not a good time to prune oak trees and that cutting this much off a tree was not the best thing for it. However, he said that our neighbor insisted that he cut the trees anyway and that he is not legally liable because he only cut the trees to the property line. He told me to take up the issue with our neighbor. I spoke to the arborist after this conversation and she indicated that treating the wounds on a tree should only be done in an emergency situation when the tree needs to be cut. (That was not the case here since the tree was not overhanging a structure or interfering with power lines.) In addition, an ethical tree company will not knowingly damage trees (particularly those on someone else?s property) even if a customer requests it.
