Maid For A Day

We were not satisfied with Maid for a Day for several reasons. I did not shop around enough and found the cost to be extremely high while the quality of the work mediocre. We have a small house and just had them do floors and 1 bathroom and they charged $65 (which I've since found out is a rip-off). They spent less and less time doing that work as well. (cutting corners, etc). The customer service was very poor as well. Did not receive call backs and when asked to move a cleaning time or date, they were very inflexible. I would not recommend this company.

We have had them clean our home on 3 occasions. They have always been quick to respond to scheduling requests and have always shown up on time. We have dogs so there is a fair amount of dog hair around the house and on the furniture. Dog hair doesn't always come up very easily but Maid for a Day not only vacuums the floor but they even get the dog hair off the couch. They also do a nice job of cleaning the kitchen and bathrooms. I feel Maid for a Day is a good value for everything they do in the house.

The team is doing a great job. Last week, they helped us resolve a big issue because our house was smelling. Turns out there was a shrimp under the washing machine. My husband and I couldn't find the problem. It's great to have a regular team who knows our house well enough to find the problems.

I have a small home. I have been very pleased in the last six months that I have used them. Their price is extremely reasonable, and when I'm out of town, I have no problem letting them know where my spare key is and cleaning everything up without me there.

They were two very hard working ladies. The oven was really dirty and they made it look like new.

I have used Maid for a Day services at least once a month for the last year or so. Pat and Ryanne are the team assigned to my house. They are professional, friendly, energetic and thorough. They are nice to my pets. With some cleaning services, they do a great job the first couple of times and then the thoroughness or cleanliness starts to drop off. Not so with Maid for a Day. They remained thorough at every visit during this year. Maid for a Day was willing to help me figure out how to save some money when my budget situation changed. I appreciate that.

We've used approximately four other cleaning companies in the past. It has always been a struggle to get the services custom tailored to our household. But with Maid for a Day from the appointment where we were given an estimate all the way to the several cleanings we've had, it's been very customized to us. I would and have recommended them to friends and family.

My crew is awesome. they ask questions about what I need and ask me to look things over and tell them how they are doing (which is great!). The price is excellent. I get so much more for my money than I used to! they are fast and very polite, and trustworthy.

We have used Maid for a Day for approximately one and a half years. They are very responsive to any needs we express. If we feel something was not done right, they willingly correct it. The cleaning team consists of two members, and while we have had some team member changes the current team has been in place for quite a while. They are very upbeat, pleasant and efficient. They have customized their cleaning routine to fit our needs and requests, and their efficiency minimizes the interruption to our schedule. We are very pleased with their service and will continue to use them.

I give Maid for A Day an overall rating of A and would recommend them to anyone looking for a high quality, reliable cleaning service.

They are much better and more reasonable than our previous house cleaners. Our previous cleaners had a tendency to break things. Maid For A Day has been very careful - nothing has broke! There was a time when a few things weren't being cleaned (ie, blinds, floor boards, corners, a few knick knacks and light fixtures). I talked with Carolyn who quickly resolved the issues. We haven't had any problems since. Rhonda and Val are great!! We also have a German Shepherd who intimidates some people. She really likes Rhonda and Val and Carolyn, and they like her. That says a lot for us.

I called and set up an appointment for an estimate with Maid for a Day for the evening of Monday, April 19th. Holly arrived on schedule to do a walkthrough/estimate and she seemed very nice. While sitting with her and looking over the estimate, I decided that all sounded good and asked to set-up the first cleaning on the spot. Holly said that she would have to check the calendar and would give me a call the next day to set up a cleaning. I said that was fine and I looked forward to hearing from her. Unfortunately, I never received a call and therefore was not provided the cleaning service and so I cannot comment on how they do with that aspect of the job. However, I would like to provide feedback regarding communication and following through...as a busy professional, I don't have a lot of extra time and I certainly don't appreciate it when my time is wasted. I am surprised that the company did not follow up and make a call especially when, a) they said that is what they were going to do and b) because in the end it will affect their business and reputation. If their schedule is too full to take on other customers, then I would have rather been told that upfront and not waste my time with getting an estimate. And if it was something that was overlooked and just not taken care of, then it makes me wonder what would've been missed cleaning wise in my home. A thought that wouldn't have entered my mind if a simple call was placed. You may ask, "why didn't I call and check about the appointment" and my answer is simple...I shouldn't have to...I shouldn't have to "chase" any company if they want my business and hard earned money. I understand that you have received the Angie's Super Service Award many years in a row, however, that is not the service that was provided in this situation. Hopefully, this feedback will be taken into consideration and will help you make your business stronger. Best of luck with all of your future endeavors.

I called to get an estimate. Holly answered the phone (this was a Monday) and we set up an appointment for the following Wednesday. About half an hour later I called back to see if they could look at my daughter's house at the same time. I left a message on the answering machine. I never heard back, so when Holly came to my house I told her that and she said, "oh, we're supposed to call back within 24 hours". In any event, she looked at my house and gave an estimate, then said she would have time to look at my daughter's house and we went over there. She gave an estimate, I told her I would talk to my daughter and get back to her. I called and left a message 1 hour later that we would both like to start service as soon as possible. I did not hear anything until the following Monday when Carolyn left a message at my home saying they could start in about 2 weeks. I was out of town so didn't get back to her right away. In the meantime, by Saturday I had already contacted another company and hired them as, certainly the "24 hour callback rule" didn't apply either time I left a message.

They have been very repsonsive to specific requests, do an excellent job. I am not a neat person, but my Wife has very high standards and has been very impressed with their services. They continue to come every two weeks.

I was happy with the service for the first couple of years, but over the last several months I have not been happy with the job they have done. Floors have not been washed adequately and not enough dusting has been done.

(04/19/2010) I asked when they could start to clean the house and was told 2-3 weeks, they were going to call and confirm a time once they got back to the office. I never heard from them again. I've called and left messages and never had my call returned. UPDATE (04/26/2010) I appreciate their responsiveness once we were able to figure out a time that worked for all of us. I look forward to having them clean my house for many years to come.

Carolyn came through in a pinch for us after a family member died and we had to have someone in very quickly. We were not already existing clients, but she went that extra mile for us and her crew came out the next day before we began having friends and family members over to pay respects. They cleaned all common areas of the house, as that was all we asked them to do. Everything was dusted, vacuumed and the kitchen was spotless, and the floors were very clean. We would definitely use them again for routine cleaning services. They did give the 50% discount for this and for the next cleaning as per their Angie's List coupon and I was very appreciative of this.

The cleaning was very thorough; vacuuming all the floors, dusting furniture, ceiling fans, pictures and air vents, cleaning the bathrooms completely, cleaning the kitchen and wiping down all the cabinets and cleaning the entryway floors. I would highly recommend this company.

After playing phone tag a few times, I decided to set up an appointment for an estimate via email. Someone responded to my email that day, listing dates and times that the service was available the following week. I chose a date and time and emailed them back as confirmation. They never showed up for the appointment. It was scheduled for 11:30AM; I called at about 12:15PM to find out where they were and left a message. The following day I received an email and voice mail, apologizing that they didn't 'catch' the confirmation email I sent them. While to do appreciate the apology, I just don't think it's acceptable that a housekeeping service with such a good reputation should miss appointments. It left a bad impression; I just don't want to take the chance they will do this again. I decided to go with another cleaning service.

In August, 2008, Holly came to my house and gave me a written bid for $89 per time. I appreciate their willingness to schedule same time and day of the week once monthly (actually every 4th week), which makes the service affordable. MFaD provides me with a written schedule for a year in advance. The only variation is when my scheduled time falls on a holiday. They are also willing to accommodate me if I ask for an exception for personal reasons. MFaD assigns the same 2 workers each time. After 5 months, Holly showed up to introduce a new pair of workers, who now have been cleaning for me ever since January, 2009. The service is very reliable, prompt, and efficient. If the cleaners are delayed for any reason, the office phones to let me know. Their pricing is reasonable. They workers do a much better job than someone I had used previously (for example, MFaD dust my 8 Venetian blinds as part of their regular service, which a former worker refused to do). After their first cleaning, I phoned MFaD to report on the results and ask for some minor changes. Subsequently, it was difficult to reach the office when I had a problem with some damage to my stove. Apparently I was not using the email that they read on a regular basis. However, once I made contact, MFaD worked with me to resolve the problem. Overall, I am very satisfied with this service.

We were very pleased with the work , we will definitely have them back again and I would recommend this company. Excellent !!!!

I don't want to have to work harder for my business than they do. Don't bother with their service.

We didn't like them. The cleaning was fair but it wasn't fantastic though. I guess it wasn't up to our standards. They did respond well to things that we told them; it takes a couple of times for a cleaning service to do it exactly how you want but we just felt they weren't responding at a high enough level that we wanted. They just wouldn't do things that were obvious for cleaning service. They wouldn't make our kid's bed or empty all the garbage cans. There was a big storm and they couldn't make their schedules biweekly visit. They had to re-schedule but they couldn't re-schedule until after the holidays which was going to be about a month. We were like that's not cool, they couldn't fit us in. Along with the okay service and not being able to re-schedule us, we said alright, we'll look for someone else.

The good news is that they did a nice cleaning of my stove and microwave. The bad news is that the crew arrived 20 minutes late without a call. They didn't apologize when they got there. I was caring for my children and couldn't inspect the house while they were here. After they left I saw that the surfaces in two of the bedrooms were virtually untouched. Layers of dust were still there! After confirming that there were to vacuum a small patch of carpeting at the base of our stairs, they didn't do it. They seemed eager to get out as it was close to 5pm. I didn't have them clean my bathroom because it was under renovation. I was still charged $106 for the brief time they were here. It should have been discounted given that my quote included a bathroom. I figured the owner would call to see how things went and I would explain my displeasure and perhaps work out a new plan to ensure the cleaning is done as requested. However, no one called to check on my satisfaction. I really thought that was horrible customer service. I was willing to give them a 2nd chance, but they couldn't pick up the phone to see how it went.

I had used this provider before, and thought they did an excellent job with my house. One thing that's cool about having a service like this is that they do areas you wouldn't even think of getting yourself. All kinds of nooks and crannies. I can't speak to a personal experience, since I was actually gone while they were cleaning, but I have no complaints and would highly recommend the company to anyone with housecleaning needs. I should add that their usual price is about $20 less than this - I paid extra to have the inside of my oven cleaned.
