I recently moved to the area, and decided to try Lowe's. I have visited the store about seven times, and left disappointed each time. The final straw came yesterday, when I ordered for store pickup some lighting. The website said they had them in stock and they were preparing my order. When I didn't hear back, I stopped in when driving by. They had not filled my order, and didn't seem to know why or what to do about it. I asked if I could get the items, bring them to her and have the order closed out. She didn't know how to do that. I asked if I could cancel the order, go get the items and purchase them at checkout. I cancelled the order and went to retrieve the product. There were none in the store. While searching, the overhead intercom announced customer service needed at pickup--the same cashier who had "helped" me was in the aisle next to me with another employee. She said, loudly, "I was JUST there...I can't find any of this **** stuff." (Me either, I thought.) So as not to waste a trip, I attempted to buy some lamps they had displayed. They did not have them in store. Previous trips: didn't have light bulbs I was looking for; didn't have any yard waste bags; purchased register covers, which were broken when I opened them; didn't have cleaning supplies I went in for...Each time, employees were rude, lazy and avoided me when I approached for help. I will be giving my business to other home improvement stores in the area.

Went to store with idea of getting a fridgidare dw, when there the sales person shared that the Bosch was the same price with installation. The sales person listen to us and help us get the DW that matched our needs. He encouraged us to think about our assumptions, but wasn't pushy. , The Price of $750, comes down to $550 installed after all the rebates. Then the installation was great, professional, detailed focused. What I liked best was that I wanted it a day earlier and their installed sales support made it happen.

We came across Lowes when we were pricing out a privacy fence for our back yard. They gave us the lowest estimate and we figured since they are a bigger and reputable company that they would be ok. As soon as we signed the contract for the work to be done it went down hill, the communication in the installation department is horrible, part of the reason for this is because they contract this kind of work out to private contractors and there is little communication between the two. It took over a month and a half from us signing the contract for the work to actually commence. They hired a company from ND and we live in MN. Now 5 months later the two gates installed wont open and close because they were installed incorrectly and the wood is now warping. They have sent out yet another contractor to fix them. One gate is fixed and the other is not as he had to check with someone to see how to fix it. That was a week ago and we haven't heard anything since. Overall we love our fence, and as soon as both gates are operational it will be perfect. The price was good, the process was bad.

The cabinet resurfacing was awesome. If you are thinking about it, do it. They turned out beautiful and the entire process start to finish was great. From the estimate to the install all the people involved communicated everything accurately and timely.

The little mishap that had happened was that, they ran a screw through the wire of the security system. So, they asked us to get it fixed and also asked us to give them the bill. Later on, everything was fine. We chose Lowe’s, as we had a bad experience with another company and didn’t want to go back to them. Moreover my wife wanted a very good and high quality door. She wanted to use a particular company and that’s the reason why we used that particular company for the front and the garage door. We had the interest free stuff from the other company and when the year was up, we paid it all up. We did the front doors as well, since we had some cash left. My experience with Lowe’s was really good. We went into the store and sat down with a fellow. He then took me through the various fiber glasses, steel, wood and many other items. They also had all the selections there and that was a good thing to have in front of us. We made our selection and they sent somebody out right away. They came out the next day itself to take the measurements and to fix everything up. About 10 days later we got the doors as well. They came right out to remove the old doors and to install the new ones.
Description of Work: I had our front door and a new garage door installed by Lowe’s of Plymouth about a year ago.

They were not the low bid, actually the highest of five, but they met the low price without hesitation. Buying the installation was a no-brainer because there's no sales tax charged on installed home improvements. Also, they had a promo for a $194 mail-in rebate for installation services, which matches the installation charge. They called me first on the estimated delivery date to inform me KitchenAid shipped late and it would be a couple more days. When the rebate center (outside contractor) sent me a rejection letter (new model was not on their list of eligible dishwashers), I called the store and talked to a manager (Cathy). She was extremely helpful, called the rebate center, escalated the issue with her superiors and got the rebate approved. They called when it arrived and said installer would call, which they did later that day and gave me the day and time frame I asked for. Lowe's followed up a day later to be sure they had called me (no one does that). On the morning of the install I called Lowe's to warn them that my long driveway was going to be seal coated at 11am. They got me connected to the installer, who pushed me to the front of the schedule and got the install complete just before the driveway was sealed. Later in the day, after the installer closed shop, when my cabinet guy was installing the drawer panels on the dishwasher, a missing hardware package issue arose. When I called Lowe's I got an after hours emergency cell phone number for the installer and promptly solved the problem. Lowe's is fairly new in MN, but I always favored them over the other big box hardware chain because of their superior customer service. This story could never apply to those other people, who I never even bothered to get a quote from.
Description of Work: Purchased a new, just introduced, model of KitchenAid double drawer dishwasher for integrated cabinet panels. Also purchased installation.

We ordered a custom door, which required a person to come out for measurements. That part went well, on time. However, when we went back to the store to pay for the door, they did not have any record of which doors we had wanted, even though the sales person spent about 30 minutes writing stuff down and entering something into the computer on our first visit. The person there did not know how to do a custom door, so they took the models and said the guy would call us the next day. No return call, we had to call again and then return to store. Installation went fine, again they showed up on time and finished quickly. However, we had wanted brushed nickel accents on the storm door and the had installed brass. We called again, and they needed to order the parts. A month later I came home and noticed keys sticking out of the storm door, and realized that they had installed the new handles (no notification), but still did not get the kick plates. Another call.

Lowe's took measurements from blueprints and said the subs would measure on-site in a week. That happened, and I had a 4 week wait for install. Meanwhile, drywall was being hung. Our guy worked alone and had a family medical emergency. Ok, life happens. I called the sub directly, explained the delay and asked to push back one week - no problem. Lowe's calls the day before the initial install date, "ready for your new counters tomorrow?" duh. A round of calls cleared up the right date on the following Monday. Next Monday, waiting, waiting a call to the sub: "Lowe's told us the install was on Wednesday." Huh? The counters went in Wednesday, and looked beautiful. Some have confused them for granite. The seam popped after 2 months; the sub fixed it without question or charge. With the communication confusion and the likely cut that Lowe's takes, I should have called a countertop fab place first and skipped Lowe's altogether. Grades are for Lowe's; not the subs.
Description of Work: Installed 32 sq ft of Zodiaq countertop, and under-mounted double bowl stainless sink. Included 3/8" round-over front, single hole for faucet, and no backsplash.

This has been a discouraging experience. The first installation and the second installation were both examples of poor workmanship. The lack of response from Lowes has been very disappointing. We sent a letter to the manager of the Lowes Home Center asking for the above problems to be resolved in a professional manner and we did receive a reply. Two weeks later, on July 14, we sent the letter to the manager by certified mail and we still have not received a reply.
Description of Work: We contracted with Lowe's Home Centers, Inc., to install a tile floor in our 95 square feet laundry room. We removed the linoleum ourselves. The installers removed a thin wood layer that was underneath the linoleum. The floor vent was tiled over, covering the heat and air conditioning vent. The tiles were misaligned. The width of the grout was inconsistent. The door trim was cut too high from the floor. Rather than using a transition piece, which we had purchased, the space was grouted right up to the adjoining hardwood floor, which absorbed moisture from the grout and damaged the wood. The new tile was removed and replaced. The new grout color is inconsistent and should be replaced. Door trim was cut too short and is damaged. It should also be replaced. Transition piece not yet installed. Job was started May 14 and was to take 2 days. July 16 marks 8 weeks. We have not heard from Lowes for about two weeks.

Any company can experience product quality or installation problems. I evaluate a company on how they handle their problem resolution process. In my opinion, Lowes problem resolution performance was a complete failure. Either as a result of miscommunication, incompetence and/or deception I lost confidence in this company. They did not respect my time and they did not perform the actions they indicated they would perform. For example: Caulking was not finished; touch up paint was not provided; replacement doors were not inspected for damage prior to delivery; the installer, manager and managers boss either did not call when indicated or call in a timely manner. On Jan. 8, I called Lowes manager, he spoke with Store Manager and they offered either a $150 cash settlement or installation of a new door. I accepted the cash settlement because I had no confidence they would ever install a new door at my house. As of Jan. 22, I am still waiting for my Visa credit memo receipt.
Description of Work: Install two new Larson Tradewinds Mid-View Brushed Nickel storm doors: A 36 W x 81 H front door and a 32 W x 81 H side door. On Oct. 25, 2006, the installer arrived late and completed the installation after dark. I inspected the doors in the daylight & noted scratches on both doors. Lowes inspected the doors, agreed they were scratched, and offered the following options to resolve the problem: 1) Order & install new doors or 2) accept some touch up paint & a 10 percent discount on the cost of the doors. I elected to have a new 36x81 front door ordered and accepted the cash discount and touch up paint for the side door. On Oct. 31, 2006, Lowes informed me the 36 door and been ordered and indicated they would contact me when it was in stock. On Nov. 27, Dec. 6, and Dec. 9, the installer delivered three new storm doors to my house; one was the wrong size and the other two were damaged.

They had a great selection of vinyl flooring and competitive pricing. Unfortunately, it was almost impossible to find a salesperson. The only reason I went back to this location was because of their selection of merchandise. It took two trips to find a salesperson who was friendly and somewhat knowledgeable. We ended up purchasing our flooring from a different store that had more responsive and knowledgeable salespeople.

Tom, the installer and helper was on time as promised. He was very personable and business like. I showed him the toilets that were to be replaced. He assessed the project, brought in the new toilets, unpackaged and inspected them. He found a tiny crack in one of the toilets, said "that happens sometimes". He sent his helper to pick up another toilet while he began the removal and installation. I was pleased with his work and would hire again.

I ordered laminate countertops from Lowe's. I didn't think the price was quite as good as Home Depot, but they had the color I wanted. The countertops were delivered much sooner than I expected. The only complaint is that it's a hassle to try to talk to an employee and get a price quote or make an order because there are never enough people there to help all the customers.

We paid 35.00 to have Lowes give an in-home estimate on cost to install a patio door. The in-store signs say installation starts at around 650. The quote came back at 1100 and the explanation for the extra cost was vague at best. No itemized list of what needed to be done was provided even when we asked for one. We agreed to have the work done, but during the final purchase process noticed the quote from the contractor to Lowes for this work. It was 750. Lowes added a 350 dollar premium to the installation cost. At this point, we cancelled the purchase. It took the salesman and two managers half an hour to figure out how to cancel a purchase and refund the money back to a credit card.
