The overall experience was good. The value could have been a little bit better. They were on time though. I would use them again in the future. I would also recommend them to others.

Calls for an estimate and discussion of the project were returned quickly by Scott and primarily Bill. Bill's description of what was needed was thorough. They were very good about being flexible, making suggestions and being willing to negotiate price. However, another Angie's List member had a lower price for more work and a better combination package price (we were looking at new gutters with gutter guards in addition to a roof). Bill did call us regularly to ask us the status of our selection decision. I'd consider them again for estimates on future remodeling projects.

We had several shingles missing from a storm, and I had heard that since our shingles had been recalled, new individual ones could not be mixed in, and we might need a whole new roof. I worked with Bill Mossberg, a sales person with Lakewoods, and he put in extra effort with me and my insurance company to insure that we could get a new roof paid for. I felt at all times like I was a valued customer, and Bill did many follow up calls to make sure I was still happy (almost too many, Bill can talk - but better lots of communication than none). He had good advice on which roof to go with and gave us several options, and we had it installed in March 2008. I am very happy with the work they did, and we now have a nice new 30yr roof that looks great. I am very happy with Lakewoods! One note: We had the roof installed while there was still snow on the ground, the only thing I would change is I would have waited for spring. The crew did a good job of cleaning up, but because they couldn't see everything, I picked up a lot of shingle pieces and plastic wrapping in the spring. They also moved a lot of stones around in my water fall by the house, and didn't put them back, so I had to rearrange that when all the snow melted and I discovered it.

I had two different locations on my roof where wind had either loosened the shingles or blown them off. The pitch of the roof was just great enough that my regular handyman did not want to attempt the job. I recognized that this was a small job, so many contractors wouldn't want to bother with it, but I knew it needed to get it done. I searched the list for a company that would be close to my house. I left a message with Lakewoods Remodeling. Scott called me back quickly, told me that their minimum charge for a job was 400, but that I would get a discount for being a member of Angie's List. He also asked when the last shingle job had been done, alerting me to the fact that there had been problems with certain shingles during that time that could be causing the shingles to let loose and I might need a new roof. He said they would be out to look at the roof the next day and get back to me. (To be honest, I was a bit uneasy after the comment about bad shingles, thinking it was setting the stage for possibly unnecessary work so I did research of my own and found that there indeed had been problems in the area with certain shingles that are now the basis of a class action law suit.) Scott called me back the following day, said that they could do the work and that I did not need to have the whole roof re-shingled. We scheduled a time. The work was done and I was pleased with the results. I was also pleasantly surprised when I received the bill as it unexpectedly reflected an additional credit for material since I provided the replacement shingles. When I do need to have my roof re-shingled, I will definitely contact them first.

I had damage to my roof caused by hail and after having three companies give me estimates I settled on Lakewood. Scott came out the day after I called him, he was up front about the pricing and explained the type of shingles they would be replacing the old with. They could also get the work done quickly. The old roof was torn off and replaced with a nicer shingle than the original one was. The crew was very nice and friendly and finished the job in two days. They were very thorough in cleaning up. If I have a need to have any work done on my roof again I would certainly hire them again.

They had to come back a complete times to improve the workmanship on the aluminum trim covering on the side of the house.

Great experience overall. Scott Rise came out promptly for an estimate, a fair price was given, work was done by a great crew who seemed knowledgeable and were courteous and efficient. The last stage of the work involved; installing a melting cable in the gutter which was an annoying last detail, but was done well and without complaint--above and beyond the call of duty. There was some lag time in getting back to schedule work, but this was a smaller job and not an emergency. Thanks for a job well done.

I called to request an estimate and the owner was at my door within 15 minutes of making the call. We told him what we were looking for, he gave great sound advice and we set the target date to start the roof. On the day of the actual job, the crew was at our door at 7:30 AM and stayed until after 6 PM to get the job and done and clean up.

They provided consultation around a bad experience I was having with another roofing company. Steve was the repairman and Sharon was the receptionist. Sharon was very helpful at talking me through the process and getting Steve to come over. They both were quite amazing! Steve came out, looked at the damage of my roof, was able to repair it and didn't charge me anything to do this. I surely would use them again.

I got bids from three contractors, chose to go with Lakewoods because they could get the job done quickly, and they had the most straightforward pricing. What they were going to do was very clear, and everything was discussed up front. The job went very well, the crew was professional, and the job got completed in one day. They did a pretty good job in the wind to gather up the debris going everywhere, could have done better on covering things, but in the end it wasn't much I found. Price was exactly as discussed, an excellent value, I got an A++ new roof that was much better than the old one within the insurance settlement for my weather-damaged roof. Everyone I dealt with was very straightforward and did what they said they were going to do. This is definitely a company I would recommend to my neighbors, I was very satisfied with the service and the price. They would be my first choice to do any more work, and it was great having the Angie's list coupon for a better price yet.

Bill Mossberg came out, did a little measuring, called about a week later to find out how much we were willing to spend. Never submitted an estimate.

The entire experience with Lakewoods was far better than I had ever hoped for. The sales person, Bill, was extremely knowledgeable and guided me in all the right directions on my extensive project. The production staff and crews did an excellent job of coordinating and installing all of the work.

Lakewoods attended to us right away. They were responsible and reliable. When we compared them to other roofers, their scores were high and their price was amazing. Bill, our sales rep was very friendly and professional. He kept in touch throughout the project. The workers were prompt and efficient. Every person we dealt with was great.

LAKEWOODS REMODELING WAS THE LOW BIDDER (BY ABOUT $2000) OF THREE ESTIMATES FOR THIS JOB. MY CONTACT WITH ALL OF THE COMPANY'S REPS WAS VERY SATISFACTORY. PROPOSAL INCLUDED UP-GRADED SHINGLES (TO 30-YEAR SHINGLES INSTEAD OF NORMAL 25-YEAR SHINGLES). THE WORK WAS SUB-CONTRACTED TO THE HARDEST WORKING, FASTEST CREW THAT I HAVE EVERY SEEN. THE SEVEN PERSON CREW COMPLETED ABOUT 80 PERCENT OF THE JOB IN ONE LONG DAY. THERE WAS A DOWNSIDE TO THIS SPEED, THEY WERE SO FAST IT WAS HARD TO MONITOR WHAT THEY WERE DOING. IN ONE AREA, THEY SHINGLED OVER SOME WOOD SHEETING THAT I THOUGHT SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED BEFORE I KNEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING. WHEN I BROUGHT THIS TO THEIR ATTENTION, THEY AGREED TO REMOVE ABOUT 50 SQ FT OF SHINGLES AND REPLACE A HALF SHEET OF WOOD SHEETING. THE OTHER PROBLEM I HAD WITH THEIR WORK CONCERNED THE CHIMNEY FLASHING WHICH DIDN'T MEET BLOOMINGTON CODE. AGAIN, THEY QUICKLY ORDERED NEW FLASHING AND HAD THE CREW RETURN TO INSTALL IT. OVERALL I WAS VERY SATISFIED.
